Food and service was on point. Definitely worth the stop. We hit this stop every year when we come down to the beach.

The food was good and the environment was good but I want to write about the best service…read moreexperience I've had ever and it had everything to do with our server, Kyle. It was the last night of our vacation and we wanted seafood and specifically a crab boil. We got seated right away and Kyle came over to introduce himself, he was very kind and personable. We started asking about the appetizers and he recommended the charbroiled oysters which were great. I asked if they were spicy and he said no. Then he came back to take our orders a bit later. I asked if the crab boil was spicy and the others ordered. I ended up ordering the crab boil. When he brought my food over he said, "I hope it is okay but I asked them to put the broth in a separate boil in case you felt it was too spicy. Ive included a large melted butter and lemon instead." I almost cried. I didn't tell him but I have stage 4 cancer and it has created many issues with being able to eat. I hate to be a pest so I just ask if things are spicy and find something else if my server says yes. He had just listened to my questioning and thought something may be happening so he came up with a perfect solution. I never told him I had cancer, just thanked him so much but my family and I were emotional because I haven't had a decent meal out because everything seems spicy in the year I've been fighting this. I want Kyle to know how much it meant and the service was absolutely amazing. Thanks Kyle and to Bayou Bill's for hiring someone as amazing as him.

The food is decent, though not somewhere I would consider for a special occasion. We have dined…read morethere several times when visiting town and have generally found it to be an average restaurant. On our most recent visit, after a six-hour drive, we decided to order takeout. When we received the bill, it seemed higher than expected. Upon asking for clarification, we were told there was an 8% "packaging fee," which exceeded the local tax. This charge was not itemized as a packaging fee on the receipt--only listed as "8%"--and there was no explanation provided. Since it had been a long day and our order was already prepared, we chose to proceed with the purchase. What concerned us most was that this fee was neither disclosed on the website nor mentioned when we placed our order. We only became aware of it after questioning the total. Greater transparency would have been appreciated. If such charges were clearly communicated in advance, customers could make informed decisions. While we understand that restaurants operate with tight margins, unexpected fees leave a negative impression and ultimately influenced our decision not to return. We have enjoyed the food in the past, but at this price point, we would likely explore other options that we feel offer better overall value.

I really wanted to like this place, but it ended up being a disappointing experience overall…read more The one standout was the gumbo. It had a nice kick to it, was full of flavor, and the $10 cup was a generous portion. My partner and I both ordered a cup, and it was easily the best thing we ate. Unfortunately, everything else went downhill. We split the fried redfish basket, and for what it cost, it felt almost criminal. There wasn't a price listed, so getting the bill was a shock (especially because all the other baskets were $30). The fish itself was decent quality, but the breading was heavy, bland, and overwhelmed the redfish. The curly fries were unique, but they left both of us feeling greasy and weighed down afterward. Service was mixed. The hostesses were friendly and welcoming, and our server was pleasant as well, though it felt like there was a strong push to upsell throughout the meal. In the end, two cups of gumbo, one fried fish basket to share, and our total came to $85 including taxes and tip. Considering the quality of the fried basket, the value just wasn't there. If the fish basket alone was around $50, that price is hard to justify. It felt more like a money grab aimed at visitors than a restaurant focused on earning repeat local customers.

The boils are incredibly flavorful and never disappoint. Now I will say, I can get two clusters of crab legs in Atlanta for cheaper--but the flavor here makes it worth it. We had a party of ten, and everyone loved their food... except for the smash burgers. A few of the guys ordered those and weren't impressed. But the Philly cheesesteak? Huge and delicious! And the shrimp and crab boils were perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor--I added sausage to mine, and it was a great choice. Our waitress was amazing--we actually had her last summer too! She has the sweetest Southern spirit, and I just adore her. She handled our party of ten effortlessly. We'll definitely be back... but that's no surprise--we come every year!

They also offer 'traditional' grill food here such as burgers, etc. We ordered a Shrimp Boil and Grouper Basket. Overall, the food was good. They were out of Calamari for the day, which is a starter they offer. They seemed to be limited on how much grouper they had available but had enough for us to eat. There wasn't a wait time for us (a group of 7) and we went at 5:15. They seemed to get busier closer to 6:00. Inside, the setting is darker and a little cramped. Not a place you would go for the atmosphere, but the food was very good.
