Alright panhandlers... Seems like there's always one spot every year that gets the "Nah, never again" medal of distinguished dishonor along US98. We spend $$$$ every year for at least the last decade in search of the best, buttercup the bizarre and the bogus. First stop: the sushi... Or whatever won an award that couldn't have possibly been given by anyone unless they'd been literally fermented. I've had good sushi, bad sushi, ok sushi, dangerous sushi, transcendent sushi... But this? For the price of the good stuff I got... Re-gummed baby niblets. Tf?? The fries were good. The water decent (that's a thing... Pompano Joe's) The rest of the menu... Passable. And both cocktail and mock tails could have been left. One of the kiddos has become a crab maniac...as in cracking crab legs EVERY night for a week. But how, for $26, did we get like 3 little legs and a claw? Basura. (we corrected it with a few pounds of crab the next night for a few dollars more) So to add insult to injury is the cute practice of 20% gratuity under the guise of fair wages to the staff. That's cool... Except do you job. Like actually do the wait service. If I'm handling my own plates, passing things to everyone at the table and having to act as an air traffic controller on a not so busy night just to get your attention, I should at least get part of the night's tip pool, no? I decided to give this hospitality group another chance after a previously poor experience at their sister property, Brotula's. Management had reached out and offered an incentive to try Jackacuda's, but unfortunately, this visit proved that the service issues are consistent across their brands. To start, this restaurant enforces a mandatory 20% service charge. While I understand this policy in theory, in practice here, it seems to remove any incentive for the staff to provide quality hospitality. Our experience began with a seating misunderstanding that ultimately placed us at a partially dirty table directly next to the bar. The ambient noise (shouting, blenders, and breaking glass) was highly distracting. To make matters worse, the unutilized table right next to us was being used as a staging area for employee phones and personal drinks, which ruined any fine-dining aesthetic. Service was incredibly slow and entirely absent of basic courtesy. When our server finally arrived, she was abrupt and rude, literally slamming our drinks and plates onto the table without a single word. Ironically, we watched her treat the adjacent table with smiles, laughter, and high attentiveness. When the food arrived after a long wait, my salmon, rice, and broccolini sides were completely cold. Because our server never checked back in, it took five minutes just to flag down a manager. The manager offered no apology, simply took the plate, and walked away. It took 15 minutes just to reheat my exact same plate, meaning my partner had completely finished his sushi by the time my food returned. We also never received drink refills. At the end of the night, our server reappeared to ask why we hadn't told her about the cold food, disregarding the fact that she had completely abandoned our table. Management offered no discount or comp for the cold food and massive delay. Instead, our bill totaled nearly $100 (including the forced 20% tip), and we were handed a coupon for a "free appetizer with purchase" for a future visit. My partner's sushi was good, but the severe lack of hospitality, poor management handling, and overall hassle made for a terrible experience. JackaCuda's is a seafood and sushi restaurant located in Destin, Florida. We stopped in for lunch because most of the other restaurants were too crowded. This restaurant was completely empty, which was definitely not a great sign. Regardless, we were happy to be seated and decided to stay and dine-in. First off, this restaurant, aesthetically, is very nice. It's decorated well and has a large bar. Our server happened to be the bartender, Keith. He was friendly but it was obvious they were desperate for business. He almost never left our table. It is what it is, he wasn't rude, but you could tell he was bored and possibly lonely as well. The food was hit or miss, truly. We started with the Crispy Pork Dumplings, which were really good. We also enjoyed the Fried Shrimp Rangoons. They had a nice texture and filling to them. Our entrees weren't as good -- my Poké Bowl was too fishy and needed more sauce/seasoning. My Mom's Mahi Mahi Sandwich was alright -- the fish was good quality but it was overly salty. The kick in the shins was at the end, when we received our bill. This place adds a 20% "service fee" to all orders. This brought our bill from about $65 to nearly $80. So, given the service charge, I don't think we'd come back. But I hope more customers come in, Keith is great socially. read more

I wanted so bad to love this spot! We live in FWB and have been wanting to try it forever and finally made the time. Unfortunately it did not live up to our hopes. Parking isn't too bad and the ambiance/decor is super cute! That's unfortunately where the positives stop. Shortly after ordering the AYCE sushi for my hubby and I, 2 of the 4 rolls we ordered had long hairs in them...gross. The bits of sushi we had (without hair) were good but after that I was too grossed out to keep trying it. The server was so embarrassed (obviously not his fault) and tried to make it right by bringing ramen which is "the best around, they do so good". It was some of the most bland ramen I have ever had. The manager took off the AYCE sushi and kept the ramen on and we ended up paying how much we would've paid for both AYCE meals...? Jackacada's was a fun experience. Based on the name I assumed it was more tourist or chain, but it was finer dining and individualistic. The restaurant is very big with a large patio area. They even had someone playing live music inside in a "hallway". The wait person was clearly new and nervous but really, really trying. It was slightly confusing because there wasn't a happy hour menu at the table. We figured it out and loved the food, drinks, and deals. The BOGO entree we meant to have to go at the end of the menu since we had an odd number of people. But they just packaged it up. They don't have a ton of beers but have a full bar and several wines. WOW! I am super impressed with this place. I had the mahi mahi tacos, fried, and my boyfriend had the fried shrimp platter. I wish my dish had more fries, because those fries were DELICIOUS. There were not many on the plate, but I enjoyed what I had. The martini I had was a unique lemondrop. Very tasty, a little on the bitterside more than I expected, but still hit the spot. We also had the shrimp rangoons, and I swear I could eat those constantly. They were SO GOOD!!!!! Kyla was our waitress and she was super sweet! She recommened us some of the best dishes, and was very helpful with everything. She was super friendly and made sure we were taken well care of. The restaurant was dim inside, and wasn't crowded at the time, so we really were excited for such an intimate experience. My husband and I stopped in at Jackacuda's on our last night in Florida this past Monday and we were not disappointed. The service, thank you Aaron and Brandy, was fantastic! For the food: They do have all you can eat crab legs, but the price tag of $69.99 just didn't work for us. All in all we had the Hot Crab dip. I enjoyed the back room as it's sectioned off and perfect for big groups. It felt very intimate. The obvious con is the Food. Not really appetizing. The sushi wasn't fresh at all and some of the other items tasted more like rice balls then sushi. I ordered the Super Spicy and Dark Knight. The Super Spicy was absolutely disgusting and had waaaaay too much cucumber. That roll needs to be Re-Done! I like the concept but too much cucumber and the Tuna wasn't fresh! The Dark Knight wasn't horrible but didn't meet my expectations. We all pretty much agreed the food was not that good and ended up doing Uber Eats as we were pretty exhausted from the beach. Two of my friends wanted a refund and were granted their request but of course the staff had to make a snarky remark. For feedback I'd say step the menu up if your selling Sushi and in Destin! The Poke Nachos were so generous to feed this crowd of 6, and I loved how fresh each bite of the Poke was.. My Wagyu burger was mouthwatering, especially with the caramelized onions. My daughters chicken tenders were good, but my brothers Swordfish dish was quite salty!!! He could not finish his dish. **Note: Our large party (of 6) gratuity was automatically added to our bill. I was irritated that this was NOT disclosed on our bill, and I did not get an itemized receipt on our meals to also see the added charge. I almost added another $57 tip!!! Phenomenal Experience! We had the last reservation of the night, and you would've thought we were the first table on opening day; the staff was that friendly and attentive. We came to celebrate my niece's 18th birthday, and this place did not disappoint. Sorry guys...I do not have pics or any hearty review of the food. So...this is the story. My family and I arrived approx 12:30 or so. When we were seated all was ok...I think. There were only two other active tables at the time. 5min passed...10min passed and that was just unacceptable. Of the 3 employees working we got nothing. I did notice the Mgr sitting in the back of the room with a laptop...assuming it to be the Mgr. Absolutely no service at all....no waters....no "I'll be with you in just a minute"...nothing. Happy Birthday to me, I chose this restaurant for a birthday meal....and I never got to it. I decided enough was enough...we left. - prices are kind of high for what you get. Example: ordered a sushi roll and 2 pieces had no sushi? But it was $22 - be aware that there's some sort of spice to a lot of things. If you like it, great, but I'm pretty sensitive to it and it wasn't noted well on the menu. For example, the dip had spice in it? - there's a mandatory 20% upcharge to all bills that the owners say is for the servers to ensure they earn enough but apparently only 15% goes to the server. And it's "commission based." This was deeply annoying to me on principle. If you care about your workers, pay them a better hourly rate that isn't commission based and don't fully pass that on to your customers. I love supporting businesses that do the right thing but get so annoyed at businesses that pander. - the ambiance is so confused. - we had a fly buzzing around our table the entire time For 1 drink, 1 appetizer & 1 roll, my bill was $57. Good and bad. Came in for a happy hour dinner. The first thing you should know is when stopping in for happy hour you will be overwhelmed with menus. It is hard to explain, but We had a regular menu that listed the food, a happy hour menu that listed the deals, and a drink menu. I think we also had a kids menu also. Needless to say it took everyone a while to go back and forth with the menus to figure out what they wanted to get. I also noticed other tables having the same menu overload issues as well. The menu is a mix of Asian and seafood mostly, but it is other things also. Their HH deals are not that bad once you can figure out all the back and forth on the menus. The signature drinks we had where ok, about what you would expect lots of sugar and color to mask the spirits. They were $6 on HH. We had a few ordered of the 1/2 off apps. The Pork Dumplings are fine, just frozen steamed dumplings. We asked that they come with sauce on the side so the kids could eat them, they arrived fully dressed. The Shrimp Rangoon were actually above average, If you are a fan of cream cheese wantons I would recommend. The table split some of the dishes off the BOGO1/2 menu. They had the Snapper, shrimp and grits, and chicken ramen. The snapper and grits were good and a good size portion of each. However avoid the Ramen. Honestly I would not have ordered ramen from here, but this was worse than expected. The sushi is about what you get from all the other places in Destin, so if you like those types of rolls you will like Jackacudas sushi. Couple of other notes. The staff what very friendly, and helpful. Even though we had a few things on our order mixed up, they got fixed immediately. The inside was a large space that was clean and nicely decorated. In the end Jackacudas is fine. I would hit them up during lunch or HH. I dont think the value is there without some discounts. I would stick to the Seafood portion of the menu if you are looking for the best taste. If you pass on this place I dont think you would be missing out. read more

I was recently in the Miramar Beach/Destin area and decided to eat with my family at your restaurant. Our meals were soooooo good that we decided to go back on our last night in town (we never eat twice at the same place). In fact, it was unanimous that we all agreed it was our best/favorite meals of the trips. I want to say thank you for the delicious food but also for the kind and attentive service that we had. The only ones listed on the menu are $20 and super tiny, most with weird flavor profiles. There are no options for people that want a simple maki roll and don't want to pay a steep price.
