My wife loves the yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño and this was spectacular in its freshness and taste. The dynamite roll was really good and huge, house special roll also great! Nice Japanese restaurant for a quick bite to eat. The fish was good and the service was good. We tried the omakase experience and we left full. Everything was VERY WELL SAUCED. So that's great for a no -fish eater like myself since I could only taste the sauce the entire time and not the fish. My favorite dish was the baked scallop and loved that they had Hibiki. There was an ozone box when entering to help sanitize and they checked your temperature and gave you hand sanitizer upon arrival. This business was AMAZING! I came here while in Cabo per the recommendation of a friend and I am so glad we did. The sushi was extremely fresh and reasonably priced for being in Cabo and right downtown. We ordered just little bits at a time since we weren't sure when we would get full and this was such a great way to try a bit of everything! The salmon was my favorite thing that we had here. I wished that we had gotten more pieces of that because it was just melt in your mouth tasty! Here are my thoughts: LOCATION: Nicksan is conveniently located right in the heart of downtown Cabo San Lucas, with countless restaurants, shops, bars, etc all around. ATMOSPHERE: The ambiance was nice, but nothing special. I would say it looked like a standard nice sushi restaurant. SERVICE: This is the reason I gave it a 4-star rather than a 5-star. In fact, if it was possible, I would have given it a 3.5-star solely because of the service. Our waiter was awful and didn't check on us at all. We finally asked the manager to please have another server attend to us, which he did. We felt basically ignored the entire time we were there. For the price of the food here, I would expect at least some level of service. FOOD: This is where Nicksan really shines. The food here is terrific. The fish is very fresh and the rolls are so tasty. We enjoyed everything we had. Tonight, we had the tuna tostado, which is always great! Odd thing, we sat at the sushi bar and our sushi chef kept leaving, not sure why, but a couple times we were just waiting for him to return so we could order. We ordered sushi consisting of blue fin tuna (belly), yellowtail and masago. None of them were good, not even appetizing. So we ordered two more of the tuna tostado's and left. We have been coming here for a long time and always have enjoyed our meal and the attentive staff. Usually I'd rate at 4.5*, since their selection of sake is so limited. But I understand it might be more difficult and expensive to import from Japan. Our last experience was really good as usual until we got the check. They accused us of ordering a toro sashimi plate when we actually ordered it off the menu with no alterations. It was the sashimi serranito. We never requested a toro substitution. We even showed them pictures of the three sashimi dishes we ordered. Clearly no toro on any of the three plates. Our waiter then got very stern and said we ordered it with toro. No exceptions. We had to keep our cool since we didn't know if we'd get our asses kicked once outside. Terrible way to finish a nice meal and be wrongly accused of such a thing. Insane. I don't think we'll be going back. EVER. Both sides lose. Be careful and take pictures of your food to prove what actually came to your table. Be specific when ordering "fresh catch of the day" dishes. read more

The only reason I noticed this spot was because of the line that was outside waiting to go in. Besides that, this spot is extremely easy to walk by without noticing it. And that's bad because this place is an absolute must go. The first nice I saw the line we just ordered take out because it was late and we were tired. The sushi was amazing and the gyozas were chefs kiss. Because of that the next night we just had to dine in and really experience the restaurant completely. I loved that they make you wash your hands outside and then you go thru this mist chamber to really make you safe to dine in given it's a pandemic. The chefs prepare the food right in front of you or you could sit at a table what ever you like but I like to see them. They were handling the food so well that I had to look how long it takes to become a sushi chef because it intrigued me how careful they were being. All the chefs were extremely nice and communicative and helpful with the menu. FYI please try the Brozen Martini because wow that was so good! Went for dinner here excited because we had eaten at the Nick San in Nuevo Vallarta and it did not disappoint. Upon arrival everyone greeted us and helped us with seating for 2 and a baby. Our waiter was amazing and so helpful. We mentioned to him about our visit to the one in Nuevo Vallarta and he explained how this location is the first and Nuevo Vallarta is franchise and menu is a bit different but they would definitely be able to serve us similar or the same food items. We stayed off with the tuna tostada for each and tuna black & white sashimi. So good! We then got a roll to share. Don't know the name but it has shrimp tempura In the inside, avocado and tuna on the outside. And a spicy oil sauce. So good too. Our next items was a roll with lobster in the inside wrapped in rice paper. I asked our waiter about an alcoholic beverage for me. I'm not a bit drinker and don't like the taste of alcohol. He recommended one with mezcal, orange juice, some spicy ness to it and Tajín on the rim. It was delicious! It had a little habanero in it and it had a burnt taste to it that complimented it well. For dessert we had a chocolate soufflé / cake with ice cream. It was simple but good. It came with almonds but I could've been good with out them. The size of dessert was personal size for my liking. It literally melted in our mouths it was that delicious. The tuna tostada, clear lobster roll, Japanese yellowtail sashimi, sashimi cilantro, tuna black and white sashimi and a couple more dishes off the menu, left us extremely full. This was some of the best sushi we have ever had and I highly recommend NickSan. To no fault to them, in fact to their credit, Covid has changed the vibe. You enter by washing your hands, sterilizing your foot, and then entering in this phone booth type space where you are misted and your temp is taken. I love the curry sashimi salad. It has a touch of curry flavor with these fried garlic chips. The white fish sashimi is fresh and delicate. The salad is crisp and fresh. I just love it. We ordered the miso soup and chilli California stuffed with crab and edamame for apps. All were amazing especially the stuff chilli.
