15 days ago, I posted the review below about how awful, unprofessional, and horribly rude Nicky was when I asked if he could clean up my shoes (read my review below). Well, I found an amazing shoe repair shop where the service is friendly and helpful. The Cobbler's Bench inside the Outback Footwear shop on East Los Angeles Ave. I walked in and was immediately greeted with a friendly smile and "How can I help you?" When I showed him my shoes he said it was absolutely no problem to clean them and make them like new! In 5 minutes, he had refreshed my shoes, and they look awesome! Very nice man. I called ahead to see if he had shoe soap. I had polished my leather shoes and didn't get to a mirror shine, so I was looking to buy a new shoe polish and wash the old polish off. So Nicky has the shoe soap I needed, he was very patient and cordial. I payed cash for my soap and went home and got my shoes to a mirror shine. He's one of those guys who you can tell does this profession to preserve an older tradition. A classic kind of person. I love this man! He is an amazingly talented shoe repair man. He's almost like a magician and this is definitely the best shoe repair place in Simi. I always bring my shoes here and they come back looking great. I also have brought belts to have them repaired or buckled changed. Just today I brought my favorite leather jacket to him to repair. Went there on recommendation from a co-worker. The soles of my boots were nearly completely gone. These were boots I wear everyday for work and they had become extremely uncomfortable. Do not take your shoes to this place. The owner is an out of control, hostile unstable person! I brought some expensive shoes in there and asked if he could help me with them. He started off very normal, but when I asked him to, please be careful with whatever product he was going to use he threw my shoes in front of me and said. "Get the f*** out and take your shoes somewhere else" and immediately flew off the handle. He then continued to say that he had been in business for over 35 years and that you need to trust somebody if you take your shoes to them and not to get out. I tried reasoning with him, but he just continued to scream and swear. About 30 seconds into his incoherent ranting, I pulled out my phone and began to take an audio recording. I then had enough and began to scream back as I was walking out. He then reached behind the counter, as if he was going to pull a firearm or some kind of weapon and said "come back here and I'll show you what I can do!" Im in utter shock how the owner of this company left my Dior Sandals. If I can leave him 0 stars I would. I instructed him to clean them and paint the edges ONLY! I pick them up a week later and he took it upon himself to paint the soles of the sandal which I never told him to do so! He didn't even match the color at all and had streaks from the paint he used. I was very unhappy and upset with the job he performed especially because he wasn't told to do that. He kept telling me I didn't even charge you for the paint on the sole and that he can remove it to come back in a week. I come back and they look 20x worse then they did even before I dropped them off. I was very upset with the job and not once did he apologize or offer a refund instead he proceeded to yell at me and told me to leave his store and threw my sandals on the counter. To make matters worse I dropped the sandals off in a duffle bag that came along when purchased. He misplaced it and swore I didn't leave the sandals with the bag. I kept telling him to check his cameras that I did but he continued and continued denying it and raising his voice at me. I had no choice but to leave. I'm very disgusted how he treated and talked to me. You would think after ruining my $900 sandals he would try to make things right. I'm going to be filing a small claims against this establishment. Stay away. There are much better places nearby with much friendly service. I came here with my fiance to fix three pairs of her high heels tips. We showed the owner the different heels and without even taking a close look at them he said he couldn't fix two of them and we might as well throw away the shoes. What?! When we questioned why he thought so, he just repeated that he can't fix them. He was really rude about it and came off as very angry. He wanted to charge us double of what it would cost to get it fixed at other places. At that point, we just walked away, went to a shoe repair place nearby and had the work done... with friendly service, quality work and realistic prices. Had an old LV luggage, with the zipper not working and some wear and tear on the sides of the zipper. I took it to a few places, and they wouldn't take it, telling me it's not worth it, or they couldn't fix it. I took it to Nicky's and without hesitation, he took it and told me to come back in a week.
