I have been a customer here for a while and don't mind the long drive to Simi Valley. The owner, Joe, is a very friendly, nice, and polite person. I found exactly what I needed at a very reasonable price, items I couldn't find in other stores. They have work boots, cowboy boots, casual shoes, and work jackets, and they repair shoes too. Instead of driving down just to order, I can call them with a Red Wing shoe number (or any brand), and Joe will order it and call me when it's ready to pick up. First off I can not say enough good things about this place. Levine is a world class cobbler. I've been in the heavy construction business for 15 years and one thing I have learned is to buy expensive boots and take care of your feet. I have been bringing my old beat up boots to Levine for years now and he has done countless boot restorations for me and my guys on my crew. The guys in the shop are always very polite and respectful and brings a family environment. If you need your leather boots restored go to my man Levine. He is punctual and works fast. It was worth the drive, they did excellent work for a cost that was probably too low. Going to a new job in a week and thought I better have my five yr old Cole Haan shoes resoled, repaired and reconditioned. My wife told me about a place in Newbury Park and my immediate response was, "Nope! I'm taking them to a guy in Simi I've used for the past 16 plus yrs. Quality is the best. And it's proven quality that I've personally experienced with three other pairs of shoes." She didn't hear most of the endorsement of my preferred shoe repair choice since she walked out of the room after hearing "Nope". But, she knows I value quality and hate buyers remorse. When I picked up my shoes a couple days later, they looked new. I asked Levine who was helping me, "The older guy over there, isn't he the owner?" Levine replied, "Yes. That's my dad." I have been getting my shoes here for 20 years! Once upon a time, it was called "The Cobbler's Bench." In addition to buying my footwear here, they have also been very good with shoe repair, saving me hundreds of dollars over the years by re-soleing shoes. When I need hiking boots, walking shoes, work boots, riding boots, and general footwear, including sandals, this is where I go. The owner, Joe, is an incredible guy who really knows his stuff. The people are always very nice and the prices are very reasonable. I've looked at shoes at the discount stores, and they are cheap and don't last. I've been to the malls and the customer experience has been lousy (if you can even find a sales person). So, I now buy all my shoes from Joe. I was on a mission to size a pair of Wolverine boots that I was being gifted from elsewhere. Being that I wasn't planning on buying I was hoping to find my results in a bigger box store so I didn't feel bad (and hopefully could do the job without wasting anyone's time as they usually have stacks of boxes so you can find/try on yourself). But after striking out at one of those, I went to the next store on Wolverine's map of retail locations....Outback Footwear. When I pulled up, and walked in, I felt immediately bad that I was going to take someone's time helping me when I knew I wasn't going to buy. The shop is small but packed with good stuff! Carhartt, Wolverine, Red Wing, etc, and more impressively, a good selection of decent-looking safety-toe sneakers (amongst other things)! I was honest from the start: not in a hurry, provided full disclosure that I wasn't buying, expecting to be (understandably) grumbled at or ignored....but Joe (I believe to be his name and the owner) was nothing short of amazing. Super nice, super understanding, and super willing to help while juggling three or four other groups that had come in around the same time. Not only did I find out that Wolverine's model sizes vary (both frustrating and rewarding at the same time!) but I also found a couple of other options for next time should my Wolverine's not work out. And NEXT TIME, regardless of brand, I will return and buy them from Outback Footwear....because DAMN it is nice to work with a polite and willing to help, regardless of the situation, human being who seems to truly care about his customers and the service he provides. OH, and his prices were pretty on-point! So thanks Joe! I will be back AND recommending your store to others both verbally and via Yelp (not something I do often!). read more

Received a pair of expensive Louboutin shoes for the holidays which needed to be resoled (as all new Louboutins need to be ideally prior to wearing). Dreaded the thought of driving to LA for this service. Popped into this store for a gift, and decided to talk to their shoe repair man, Levin and explained what I needed. He said, "Sure, I've done that before. I'll need to reorder a sheet of the red sole. I'll have it in 2 days." He could get Vibram or Topy, but I was after Varese which I'd heard was a great match, and he looked into it and got the Varese brand in for me. Shoes were ready the next day, and look fantastic. Levin is a craftsman! So happy I could have this done in town! I can think of other shoes and handbags that could use some TLC, and I'll be sure to bring them in. I came in today because I needed a pair of motorcycle boots. I asked joe the owner what they had and he was like, "oh I know just what you need" he came back with a great pair of boots and told me all about them and had me try them on. They felt good but were a little stiff so he says no problem and takes them in the back to stretch and heat them up a bit for a better feel. I try them on and they feel better but was not 100% so he said "well ill get 1 size up and you can try those, we want you to be comfortable" He gets the larger size, stretches them like before and they fit great. He also threw in a very nice pair of socks to go with them. Me and my fiance we seriously blown away by how attentive this place is and how all the staff members seemed to know all the customers in the place. Ive never been blown away by customer service before, but this place was like taking a trip back in time. He really only wanted to make sure I was happy with my purchase. Thats how you get repeat customers. So glad I didnt go to wal mart to get a cheapo pair of boots. These will last forever and I helped support an awesome new business I discovered. read more
