If you're looking for delicious shawarma, this is a great place. I have come here many times and enjoyed my sandwiches. However, the last time I ordered my favorite spicy chicken shawarma they gave me beef... and it was not spicy. When I called back to let them know the sandwich was tasty but not what I ordered, the woman laughed at me and said I ordered beefy so I gave in and ate the sandwich. Oh my gosh. I have gone here for years, first with my dad, until I was able to drive. You can see a lot of familiar faces. A chicken shawarma sandwich and a fattoush salad is my go to! Where do I start!!!?? I've lived off of Drake Road for almost 4 years now. Shamefully, my first time stepping into Shawarma King was one month ago. Since then, I've eaten lunch from here at least twice a week! My most recent visit I ordered the grilled chicken Fattoosh Salad with a side of their Garlic sauce. The chicken was unseasoned and a tad bit dry. However, the garlic sauce made it worth me finishing it. The dressing was amazing and the salad itself (Greens) was fresh. It is my hope they work on the grilled chicken as their Shawarma Chicken is nowhere near dry. I will be back, however I will not have them add the grilled chicken to my salad. I'm completely addicted to this place and will work my way around their menu! Side note: The prices for a sandwich is very reasonable ($4.00-$6.00). read more

Was on a roadtrip and looking for a place to grab lunch, love Mediterranean and the parking lot was busy at 2:00pm, a good sign. Was seriously impressed by the food. The Falafel, Grape Leaves, and Kibbeh were some of the best I've had at any Mediterranean place. Very fresh and tons of bright flavors coming from the spice mix. The lentil soup was also very good with a broth base much more complex than I've had from most vegeterian dishes. Definitely not an afterthought like most places. I haven't had that much garlic sauce since it's uncommon to be served with sides outside of Detroit's sphere of influence, but theirs felt a cut above. Everything mentioned completely stole the show from the Shish Kabob which I would actually suggest avoiding. It was good, it just wasn't great, a small portion, and the shawma that others were getting looked and smelled so much better. Too bad they don't have Kifta on the menu, I'd love to try their version of it. If this was a local place I would instantly become a regular. Too bad I was only passing through. read more

Ordered takeout from here while visiting from out of town. We come from a small town where we definitely don't have Lebanese food as an option! I picked the House Combo for one and ordered through Uber Eats to our hotel. The meat was good-tender, flavorful, and juicy. But the falafel and grape leaves were pretty dry. The fattoush salad and Lebanse salads were both fresh and delicious, no issues there. Garlic sauce was good, too. Overall I'd say this is average, it wasn't terrible but the food wasn't the best Mediterranean I've had, either. Perhaps it has to do with being take out and not fresh from the restaurant. read more

Not the best Mediterranean food I've had, but the most convenient place for this food in Kalamazoo. I've had the King Salad and the Falafel Delux sandwich which were good but not exceptional, not enough flavor. The garlic sauce, however, is some of the best I've ever tasted! Everything seems reasonably priced for the portions. My friends who grew up in Kzoo prefer the Westnedge location for their buffet, which I also think is better. read more

Very friendly staff! The outside of the building isn't much to look at, but the food is delicious! We had the shawarma lunch and sandwich. We had lentil soup and salad and baklava. The chicken shawarma was good, but it wasn't what I was use to where the chicken has been marinated all the way through and this was mostly white meat, too. It looked like the shawarma was really just a rub that was coated on to the chicken. It was still good -- just not was I was use to. The rice was fabulous. The baklava tasted like it was made with only pistachios, and you receive a large amount of baklava for only $8. I would come back just for the baklava! read more

We enjoyed this restaurant many times while living in Kalamazoo several years ago. We were back in town and had to stop here to get lunch to-go. You really get a great amount of food for the price. It's ready in about 10 minutes, which is excellent. The fattoush salad isn't how we remembered it. Something wasn't right and really we couldn't tell the difference (beside the pita) between the Lebanese and fattoush salad, which was disappointing. Portion size for the lunch combo was enough for two. My kids really enjoyed the falafel appetizer (10 pieces) and didn't save any for me! Excellent service! read more

Been a fan for years. Actually the only restaurant I visit with any regularity. What more can I say? Happy I can also buy pita bread too as grocery stuff just doesn't compare (a lightly warmed pita with PB&J is a treat!) Last Christmas in the midst of the pandemic and lockdown I treated myself to baklava for dessert - oh my, but was that every tasty!
