    Lamb Korma
    Jennifer C.

All the food we ordered was excellent! All were so delicious & tasted fresh!! It was my first time trying Indian chai tea (wo milk, wo sugar) and I LOVED IT! I tasted so many spices in the tea. I have to mention about their Lamb Korma..! Wow! One of the best Lamb Korma I've tried so far. Sauce was very creamy & the meat was so soft! We enjoyed it so much!! Our server (female) was really nice as well. :) P.S.: There was a suv in the parking lot stuck in the snow when we arrived at the restaurant. As we pulled in, the cooks were helping the driver, out of a snow whole. I told the story because I felt like that was a really heartfelt gesture. Summary: GOOD PEOPLE, GOOD FOOD (Thumbs up!)

Last week, I tried Cumin buffet. It was good and delicious. They served nan bread, rice, vegetables, butter chicken, tandoori and another chicken dish. All tasted very good. The only 1 thing that they need to improve is adding sweet dishes to the buffet. Also, having more than 1 person to serve. Otherwise, this would be my weekly place to visit.

Still hoping this restaurant will improve. The portions are fine, and it arrives at the table hot...but it never seems better than mediocre. This time I tried lamb korma, butter naan, and chat samosa. The samosa was swimming in a sea of yogurt that was sweetly overspiced, like it had been done twice by mistake. The korma sauce was bland, and the highlight was the butter naan.

Leftovers of the shrimp hussaini and the garlic naan. Mmmmm

I used to be really insecure about eating at ethnic restaurants, especially Indian, because I didn't grow up eating the cuisine. Now that I've eaten at many Indian restaurants across the state and country, I know that some of my concerns are not related to Indian dining, but this place in particular. First, as others have said, it's not normal to charge for rice and maintain prices of $17+ per entree. Second, and more importantly, dine-in service times are ridiculous. Twice in a row now I've waited 45 min+ between ordering entrees and receiving them, and this time, I was basically told it was my fault because my expectations were off and I didn't tell them I was in a hurry. I wasn't in a hurry, but to me, waiting more than 25 minutes or so without any visit from a server (including to refill drinks) is just not great service. This was compounded by the fact that no one around us had received food, but to-go orders were coming out of the kitchen to the front of the restaurant every couple of minutes with urgency. When I quietly asked the manager what was going on, she told me that's just how they do things, then came back to my table again to tell me that my expectations weren't reasonable and I could ask next time for them to bring the food out faster. (To the detriment of other customers? Why not be efficient in the first place?) I will say I haven't tried the lunch buffet. It seems that maybe this place is best for lunch or carryout, since that seems to get their attention at night,

The lamb saag was rich, perfectly spiced, and the lamb was so tender it practically melted. The lamb mushroom curry had incredible depth of flavor -- earthy, savory, and just the right amount of heat. And the butter chicken? The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked in. It's clear they care about the experience just as much as the food. I can't recommend Roti enough. Cleanliness, freshness, variety…read more Every once in a while place will surprise you. I walked into this place while traveling as a soccer parent. The freshness of the produce was the first thing I recognized in the buffet. Normally the texture feels off in a buffet but this reminded me of the freshness of my auntie's garden in India. The chickpeas were not over or undercooked (steam cooked?) and the raita was the rich consistency of home, not the quick and watered down version typical in casual fare. I am vegetarian and cannot speak to the meat dishes, but felt like some real heart was behind the cooking. Perhaps the Naan was the only drawback, losing its texture made in bulk perhaps. But the taste relied less on salt and oil and more on the ingredients and a sense of freshness on many items I might serve in my own home. I cook these dishes at home and on a few I felt like asking for some cooking tips.

The service isn't the fastest. It is good service at the same time. The food came out hot and full of spices just the way I like it. The samosas were flaky with a satisfying vegetable filling. The curry shrimp and fish had a medium plus heat which was just right for me. I would eat here again.

Good News: I'm upping a star because of my most recent take-out experience. YAHOO!…read more Cook time continues to be zippy, which I'm grateful to report. The upped star has to do with the food. This time around, I ordered a two-curry combo with dal tadka and chana masala, and I also ordered the cauliflower 65 appetizer. Since we eat with our eyes, I admit I was a tad disappointed when I opened the tray and saw what appeared to be smaller portions. However, it's more about the vessel choice. There really is plenty of food for a meal + leftovers. Both of my curries were well-spiced and--dare I say--a tad spicy. YAHOO! The chana masala is so delicious. I don't think I can eat Chalo takeout without it now. My only critique is that the cauliflower 65, while fried and spiced well, needs some salt and perhaps its own dipping sauce...and I'm aware I can dunk my curries or green chutney that comes with the samosas. One thing to note if you're picking up your order: ordering via the website/DoorDash is cheaper than ordering via the Yelp app/GrubHub. I'm so happy that Holland has a five-star Indian restaurant. I knew I wanted the sojouk pide, as I've seen it but never tried it. It was so unique in flavors I don't think I've experienced before and I absolutely loved it. I only ate about half and it tasted great leftover, too. (It is NOT like pizza!) My friends both had the lentil soup and grape leaves and enjoyed both dishes. I've tried grape leaves before and don't care for them, but my friend convinced me to try it - and it was the best I've ever tried! The leaf wasn't tough and there was a nice wrapper to filling ratio. I knew I had to get the knafeh, again a dish I've seen on tv but never had. I was doing the Food Dance!
