    Wine pairing

We loved our experience. The owner was so nice and welcoming. We has a tasting reserved but noticed the vault and fell in love with it. She immediately moved into the vault since it was open. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Grate wine. Excellent pairing. Great building history and conversation. The environment stimulates both elegance and a it of forbidden desire. Classy, mystery, good company and wine, what's not to love?

How have I never left a review??? This is my go to in Napa. The pups love their michelin dining…read moretoo! We generally opt for the patio since we take the pups everywhere. The patio is not crazy hot in the summer as it is shaded. I've tried both the tasting and the prix fixe with add-ons ofc. There is nothing I don't like, but I do have a few favs, such as the pig ears and the caviar pretzel. I can't remember too much, I am typically buzzed by the time I arrive and drink more along the way... We ended up having our reception at Press in one of the more enclosed patio areas, and it was so lovely to be able to share the lovely food and drinks with my favorite people and all our dogs! The staff was super attentive and made me an extra special menu to take home in addition to all the customized menus. Shout out to Frankie for hosting us so perfectly. Everyone had an awesome time and could not stop raving about the food and the service. FYI the patio can be closed in the winter. I can't wait to be back in Napa and Press!

Once I read that Philip Tessier took over I was intrigued. Tessier has the distinct honor of winning one of the most prestigious fine dining team competitions in the world. And he delivered in SPADES! Our experince was amazing. The dining area is an exercise in warmth and style without pretense. It is a place you would perfectly at home in a sport coat or jeans with polo. The dining room has lots neutra browns, tans and white. Class with comfort in mind. Press also has some outdoor seating which would be great on a warm Napa day or night. The food is amazing! Everything I sampled was very good to excellent. My favorites: - Cold Gazpacho Soup with Rice Foam: This amuse-bouche was simply amusing! The rice foam really provided a nice lingering finish. - Steak Tartare with Garbanzo Bean Tapenade: By far my favorite dish! The texture of the waygu tartare was wonderful. It reminded me of firm fresh tuna for some reason. Combined with the salted soft toasted bread. I could of eaten it as my main. -Fogile de fava: This was a close second for me. The fogile was cooked to al dente perfection. And EVERYTHING tastes better with black truffle butter! - Ribeye: Perfect medium rare! The sugar snap peas were garden fresh and provide nice texture and sweet balance. -Drinks: I had the Pinot and my girl had the Chardonnay. Both were excellent! The sommelier took great care in choosing his wines by the glass because each paired nicely with corresponding dishes on the menu. Well done! Service was impeccable. The greeter was friendly and seated us right away. Our waiter was good with suggestions and descriptions of food/beverages. Each dish was presented with corresponding descriptions. Water glasses never empty. Pacing was just right. All things you expect from a Michelin restaurant. Bravo Press!!! I hope you get your **.

We had genuinely engaging conversations with Madison and Chris throughout the night, which honestly primed me to appreciate the cuisine even more. The oysters were local and tasted like they'd been pulled out of the ocean about five minutes earlier! The steak arrived fast and to perfection. It felt like pure opulence. The dining room was nearly empty, making it feel as if we had the entire place to ourselves. Service was warm, friendly, and professional without being stufy. Ambiance matches the food. You are enmeshed in a peaceful sanctuary, enveloped by the lush greenery outside. Soft, tasteful music accompanies. The food is very good, at times superb, with attractive, precise platings. Appetizers and shareables shine. Free Bread Course (5/5) - outrageously tasty. Some of the best focaccia I've had, with their absurdly good estate olive oil to dip in. Difficult to not eat too much of this. Meadowood Farms Spring Green Salad (5/5) - $22 - Ridiculously fresh vegetables picked from Meadowood's own garden. The top-level freshness reminded me of vegetables at Single Thread. Globe Artichoke Confit (5/5) - $26 - Perhaps my favorite dish of the evening, oozing umami flavor, with crispy trumpet mushrooms and artichoke hearts swimming in a bed of delectable tomato concasse. The accompanying estate olive oil is some of the best I've had. Liberty Farms Duck Leg Confit (4.5/5) - $42 - Tough for me to ever pass up duck confit, and this version did not disappoint. The accompanying blackberry beet reduction was perfect. Arroz Caldo (3.5/5) - $19 - The only slight disappointment of the night. The shredded chicken was moist, but the ginger favorite was overwhelmed by the overabundance of salt. Chocolate Pot de Creme (4/5) - $16 - Pretty good, with rich, deep chocolate notes, but we were probably too full at this point to fully appreciate. They have a nice coffee program here as well, as we enjoyed an espresso and americano. All told, a very enjoyable dinner! Ambiance: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Value: 4/5 Total for two, all-in, with one cocktail and two coffees: $230

When we arrived the restaurant was packed, but we were got a very friendly greeting and were seated immediately. Our waitress, Brook, was really friendly and professional. The wait worked togethrr as a team and even the manager helped out with bussing tables-true professionals! As we had a reservation for dinner at Bouchon, we wanted something smaller so my wife and I got the house salad and the cup of chili. The salad was a good portion and loaded with toppings including hard boiled egg, homemade croutons, cheese, etc. And dressed just right. The "cup" of chili was a good sized bowl. It was the best chili I've ever had in a restaurant! Plenty of beef with a mix of cubed (chili cut) and ground beef. The spice level was just right, no added hot sauce needed, topped with cheddar and raw onion. My wife couldn't finish hers, but after finishing mine, as much as I wanted to I couldn't either! This may be a long review for salad and chili but the service made Rutherford Grill one of our best meals in Napa. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.

However, a very humiliating experience happened to me at a restaurant (not Rutherford Grill) that had me vomiting ( thank God on the floor) a truly embarrassing situation! So, it had been recommended by my health practitioner to have pro biotic drinks, rather then a soft drinks. My friend and I went to Rutherford bar and grill once a week. On this particular evening, we were seated, I asked for a glass of ice for my pro biotic drink which I took out of my purse (I bought it at Wholefoods minutes prior to going to restaurant ) She immediately said you can not bring your own beverage inside. I showed her my un-opened bottle,"it's lemon ginger for my stomach disorder its not alcoholic". I respectively pointed to the bottle. She kindly departed and said that she would get back to me on whether or not I could drink it, after speaking with her supervisor. Meanwhile roughly 10 or fifteen minutes had passed and the gal never got back to myself and my friend seated at the table. Fifteen minutes later, a tall attractive women (possibly 40 to 45 years of age) with a white chef top and black pants came to our table. She had long black straight hair and fiery red lipstick. She came to our table, and asked, if there was anything we needed. I was surprised and asked, "are you a chef? this is unusual your coming to our table". She ignored my question, and asked again, "was there anything we needed?' I explained that my friend had ordered her drink already and that I had asked for a glass of ice. "by this time close to twenty minutes had passed since the gal said she'd ask her supervisor) So, my thought was "oh I guess I can drink my pro biotic". So, my friend got her alcoholic beverage and a glass of ice was brought to me. I poured my drink into my ice filled glass and took one sip...when miss tall attractive women with the chef uniform approaches me..sadly her expression was jealousy and happiness as she spoke to me as though she was "getting off", on telling a genuinely kind and tall blonde woman, "give me your drink" my friend and I were shocked! I explained its a pro biotic for my stomach challenges, its not alcohol." She smiled a fake smile and said "hand it to me, beverages are not allowed to be brought into our restaurant!" tears pricked at my eyes out of shock and embarrassment, because fellow patrons were looking at me like I had done something wrong. I said..."well then can I go outside and drink it? this was an expensive drink for my stomach, I just bought it had Wholefoods a few minutes ago." She sternly said, "No. Consider this a warning or never come back again!", as she reached over me and took my bottle and my glass away! My experience was beyond humiliating. Needless to say we did not eat dinner their and my friend did not drink her margarita. I am a Spiritual life Coach. I value and love, treating people with compassion and respect. Jealousy is ugly, no matter how attractive a women may be! Needless to say my friends and myself after several years of eating there: have never returned. This situation happened 4 months ago. I felt it was time to express my feelings.

Pardon, are you looking for an exquisite place to dine near the vineyards? Look no further…read more It was a beautiful drive up with stunning vineyards all around. It quite frankly reminded me much of the drive up to Haute Cabrière in South Africa, the only biggest difference is they drive on the left side of the road. Nevertheless, valet the car, friendly vibes upon entering and seated right away on the terrance. The menu had options for salads, main dishes, and desserts--they are vegan friendly. I ordered the local baby greens with market vegetables; the balsamic onions and avocados added was a nice touch. Love is the most nutritional ingredient and love was all in the details. My non alcoholic beer was a first--It arrived; it went down tangy and salty. The view from the terrance was absolutely gorgeous. In fact it took my breath away with its beauty and an immeasurable sense of peace; the restroom was quite posh. If ever in the area I recommend as it was a lovely experience. Be careful this may very well become your favorite place to get good food with a view. I would like to return to visit the restaurant and stay over night at the resort that is beautifully located on a sun-kissed hillside. I came across the Legacy Cave Tour, which is adults-only and offers a lower fee for non-drinkers, which I thought was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the online booking didn't work for me, so I had to call to make the reservation. When we checked in, the woman at the front desk gave me a bit of a weird vibe. After looking up our reservation, she said, "Oh, indeed you do have a reservation." It just felt like an odd response, like... why wouldn't we? is it because we're brown? We arrived a little early, so we spent some time browsing the gift shop upstairs. That's where we met our guide, Will, who was lovely, friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. I mentioned it was my husband's birthday, and he asked if we'd been given a birthday sticker. Apparently they offer special occasion stickers at the front, which the check-in woman never mentioned, but Will made sure we got one, which was a nice touch. The tour itself was a small group, which I really liked. We went into the cave, and for those drinking, the tour included 3 wines. It was interesting learning about the history of Beringer Vineyards, and again, Will did a great job explaining everything. One thing I do wish they offered: for non-drinkers, it would be nice to have something like grape juice or a non-alcoholic option during the tour. There were a few of us in that situation, and it felt a little odd not having anything to sip on. After the tour, we walked the grounds, which was really nice. It's free to explore the property and browse the gift shop, which makes it a pleasant stop even beyond the tour itself. We ended up buying a couple bottles to take home, along with a wine barrel mug that my husband liked.
