Great spot for burgers and best wings in the twin cities! Happy hour $10 wings. Bartenders are always friendly and parking is easy behind the bar.

You how you hype up a place in your mind for so long and then when you finally try it the hype fades? Well, that's how I felt about Nighthawks. I can say I enjoyed the whole energy and feel of this place. If I lived in the area I think would easily be a neighborhood spot. It definitely had that vibe about it. The dining room had bar area and combination of booths. Then the patio area was nicely enclosed from the street and adequately spaced seating. Our server was so friendly and polite. My friend and I decided to share and I am glad we did. Let me say, the pictures of Nighthawks' cheeseburger is something to salivate over. With such high expectations I was expecting a food explosion of juicy burger goodness. Unfortunately, that was not the case for me. Plus, the wings were a miss also. The Dry Rub Wings with aioli and Ranch similarly looked good but after a bite or two could tell it was flavored to the bone so I was just ok with the external nibbles.

Ok, so big burger guy, because being real who isn't.... I've wanted to come here since seeing pictures of the burger. It didn't disappoint at a solid 9.5/10. Crispy sides, not over cooked, onion, some amazing pickled cucumbers and a "sauce" to top it off. Only gripes were the burger patty sized piece of tomato that I took off and ate separate due to size limitations(I don't take points off for items I take off burger). And as an onion fan, I want an aggressive amount of onions. The wings were 9/10, light but flavorful spices. Perfectly cooked, and a fancy blue cheese and herb dressing. Can't believe I haven't heard of these before honestly. Solid tap list, great back patio with some reprieve from traffic noise. Fast service, and a great experience. Hard to believe how slow the place was for a Friday late lunch. Don't sleep on the Nighthawk.

    Nighthawk's take on the Rachel.

I ordered the Rachel with fries for takeout and was pleased! The heart of the sandwich is the generous cuts of baked turkey. It's covered with deliciously tangy Russian dressing that's happily married to sweet onions. A touch of thin carrot sticks accent the tanginess of the dressing and give a strong sandwich a hint more integrity. All of it is topped with swiss cheese that knows it's place and sustains the flavor harmony. The rye bread holds this package well. If you bring the sandwich home, the bread may soften from sitting a bit. No problem for me! The dressing-soaked bottom was a fantastic finish.  My shoestring fries were, ironically, a bit tough. Some people may like that. I prefer crunchy French fries with a strong potato profile.  The diner generally is one of my favorite American foodscapes. I just love the comfort food staples and the fact I can order breakfast day or night. Contemporary diners have begun to embrace our expanding American food community offering Latin American and southeast Asian dishes (no doubt shoehorned by the diner chefs who rep those cultures).  Nighthawks takes the basics: burgers, deli sandwiches, fish and chips and elevates them without being snooty about it. I'll definitely return to explore the menu! Maybe I'll see you there.

I've gone a few times to dine in and have gone 2x for to go wings during Covid. There's a consistency about the place... food is decent - good, service is decent as well. I may have gone 2x and had standout service, once was for a chicken pickup and the second was for brunch! Brunch girl wasn't attentive, but she was friendly and patient on a busy day. Bartender was full of customer service and kind when I came to pick up my order of wings that for some reason wasn't received by anyone and he gave me a coin-like thing for 1 free drink. I thought that was nice of him. I lost it, lol, but it was very thoughtful. I've had the pear salad here, brunch, breakfast, wings, fries and all you drink Mimosa's (more than 1 flavor). I enjoyed it all. I'll swing back thru there sometime.

First off, the service was great. We went there at 4:00p when it wasn't busy so maybe he gave us extra attention, but it was very enjoyable. The fries were handmade, and you could still see some of the potato skins! They were great, but the texture was not very crunchy. The best thing we ordered was the Guinness Beef Stew, however, after the first few bites, it was very overpowering. It's one of those, "this might be the best soup I've ever tasted" after the first bite, but you never finish the dish.

Solid bite and happy hour at nighthawks! I got the truffle fries (decent) and the crispy chicken sandwich (surprisingly good) and was more pleased than I anticipated!

I ordered the breakfast sandwich, and unfortunately, it missed the mark. For a café that seems to put so much effort into its unique menu the sandwich felt processed and lacked the fresh, high-quality ingredients I expected. It was just an unsatisfying start to the meal. The waffle tasted like one of those store-bought belgian waffles However, I have to give credit where it's due: the espresso was excellent. It was nice and strong, clearly made from well-sourced beans. It's a great spot for a caffeine fix. The staff were kind and attentive, and the cafe itself is a great spot to work on a laptop, but based on the food quality of my visit, I can't give it a full recommendation yet. I'll likely be back for the coffee, but I'll stick to one of their more popular items next time.

This place does get busy so definitely keep that in mind. Luckily I made reservations ahead of time so we had a table waiting for us, otherwise we would have been put on a waiting list since it's a small space. They put us in a corner booth which was nice and spacious enough for 4 people so I'd definitely recommend asking for a booth verse a table if you're planning to come with a larger group. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their attentiveness and sharing what they like best, especially for what's in season based on the time of year. The menu has quite a bit of variety too which is sometimes unexpected when you come to a pub-style location. For appetizers we got Onion Ring and Fried Pickles. They were both really good and served with dipping sauces. Definitely both shareable items so if you're in a group they'd be great options! My entree I chose the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon served with lemon soy marinade, creamy cucumbers, and jasmine rice -- it was SO good!! I loved the creaminess of the cucumbers especially with the rice and than the lemon soy marinade was just a unique touch to the salmon. Toned the flavors down without overpowering acidity. And the salmon was so dreamy, a beautiful pink color that you just knew it wasn't a farm raised salmon. Plus the portion was very generous!! I'd definitely recommend the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon to anyone interested in visiting here. #eatwildsavewild The only negatives (which are more so just knowledge bombs for you): * Restaurant is VERY loud. It's hard to hear because it is one small room that everyone plus the bar is in. I wished I would have took a picture to show what I mean. Just know that if it's an intimate setting you're looking for this is not the place. So be prepared to talk loudly over the loudness and ask "excuse me?" or "repeat that" many times throughout your visit because you're not going to hear everything. * Timed eating. Because this place is a hit with limited seating, once you get a table and complete your meal/payment you'll kindly be asked to leave so that they can clean up and open the table to next in line. Totally get that and am not put off by this at all, but I could see how it could catch some folks off guard especially if you are out for a meal with folks you may not see frequently-- so just keep that in mind. This is not the place to sit and talk post meal. * Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks as the road parking in front of the business is pretty limited especially with the other stores and restaurants in the area. Regardless of those few bullets I highly recommend folks visit George & The Dragon. It's a really cool spot and the food was great! Plus theirs a malt shop right next door that looks yummy too, so definitely worth visiting and getting malts after for dessert.

Nightingale was packed, but fortunately, once two patrons saw my face from the bar, they quickly paid their bill and left. My face often compels people to vacate crowded establishments in Minneapolis, and we often find seats. After grabbing the two seats, we ordered wine and a wonderful Amaro-based cocktail. Jules was our bartender/server, and although he was crazy busy, he found time to be gracious to us. We ordered the meatball appetizer, halibut, and the Nightingale hamburger. My halibut was sublime, cooked perfectly, and it wasn't drowned in sauce. Bravo! The meatballs were tender and delicious, but the hamburger was not memorable. It was good, not great. Despite all the accolades above, when the bill came, I was charged two dollars after requesting a cucumber slice for my Pimms Cup. Perhaps the source of this pettiness came from the kitchen, but it wasn't smart, because the $2.00 charge placed a shroud over my experience. The bill was $125, and because of the petty two-buck charge, I only left a $25 tip. I was going to leave a $30 tip. I will sadly remember those 2 bucks forever. It was a myopic move and a passive-aggressive way to handle my request. In my birthplace home of NYC, a bartender would have said, "Getting a cucumber slice is a pain in the rear, would you mind skipping it?" My response, "Sure, it's not a big deal."

The service was genuinely friendly and pleasant throughout our visit, which went a long way. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. I tried the NY Strip special, which was fine but nothing memorable - exactly what you'd expect, no more, no less. The oysters were disappointing for the price point; the quality just wasn't there. The mushroom bruschetta similarly underwhelmed - it felt like it was missing something to make it stand out. The bright spot? The drinks were solid and well-crafted. I wanted to rate this higher based on the atmosphere and service alone, but at the end of the day, the food has to deliver. With so many great options in Minneapolis, Nightingale needs to step up its culinary game to match its lovely setting. I'd consider returning for drinks, but probably not for dinner.
