Tofu for restaurant week with mac & cheese, the tofu was tasteless, but I did like the macaroni and cheese
Lana J.

I have never tried this place before although I've known about it for years so I thought I would check it out for restaurant week. The food was great definitely creative Chef. The service was also very good. Our waiter was very attentive and always checking in on us, we sat right in the front window and that was pretty nice and quiet but when we first walked in the door, it was very loud and packed that's the only thing I didn't like. There is a parking lot but parking is limited and we ended up parking next-door at the Wells Fargo bank after the bank was closed.

Lake & Irving is such a cute spot! Got there 15 minutes early and got sat right away. We both ordered the Mai tai drinks which were strong but good! The real treat was the entree. I got the buttermilk chicken sandwich and it was perfection. It was the perfect amount of crispy, the sourdough matched perfectly, there wasn't too much cheese, and the pickles in the side were so good (tasted homemade). The fries would melt in your mouth and I could not get enough. Definitely want to come back and get their actual Asian food! Great spot if you're in uptown.

One of the funniest servers I've had in a long time. The food was all delicious, especially the misoyaki salmon! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was plenty of space in the dining area and it had sound-absorbing panels on the ceiling which reduced the echo/noise from chatter at other tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd highly recommend checking them out!

A wonderful surprise after discovering the restaurant we planned to visit had closed! Lake & Irving turned out to be an excellent find. The staff was warm and welcoming, the service was quick, and the food was truly delicious. I loved the eggs Benedict, and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the crispy and flavorful chicken and waffles. They also offer a great selection of craft beers, which paired perfectly with our Sunday brunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience--we're glad we found this spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

They now charge a 3% credit card service fee (even though credit cards reportedly only charge 2.0-2.5% fees). Excellent gastropub serving tasty food and well crafted cocktails. Our Luxe Burgers and Tostado were wonderful. Very nice beer tap list as well. I plan to return

Have only been during the Twin Cities Restaurant Week when many restaurants are offering a prix-fix tasting menu, a difficult time to review a restaurant as they may not be doing their normal thing. Miso ramen and Asian style meatballs for course one. Both were yummy but the meatballs seemed a bit too re-heated. Steak and a pork chop for entrees. The steak and especially the fingerling potatoes it came with was delicious. The pork chop had nice flavor but was super lean and dry and the accompanying fried rice was a little mushy. Dessert was a nice finish. I wasn't drinking tonight but liked their whiskey selection. Looking forward to going back and trying their normal menu.

Super fast service, everything came out pretty quick. Beautiful presentation on the dishes. For taste; the side dishes were the star. Potatoes were crispy and seasoned well. The butternut squash puree was thick and velvety. I'd skip the dessert. The sugar top on the creama catalana was slightly crunchy but did not crack on the back of the spoon. The creama was almost a split texture and loose.

Overall Lake and Irving is just okay. I was severely disappointed by the lack of flavor on my chicken sandwich, no salt, no pepper, unfortunately it tasted like nothing. I ate half and took the rest home. I ended up adding an egg to it and that made it better. Service is good, this is your typical neighborhood bar. You could certainly be a local here. All in all the food wasn't great so I probably wouldn't come back to eat but they do trivia and if definitely return for that!

Shout out to Gerald he was a great server he took great care of us when we visited. The chicken sandwich was delicious I got the ghost cheese so it had a wonderful kick of spice. I'd skip the side salad next time. Truffle fries were good. Perfectly crispy and hot. I also really enjoyed the charred green beans. My husband said his Luxe burger was cooked well and very juicy. The jungle bird was delicious, I'd definitely get it again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot is pretty solid with the food, the service and the music![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I wish I had known about this place sooner. I had an all around amazing dinner here. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, truffle fries, and Gochujang chicken wings for an appetizer. All were delicious. I ordered the Luxe burger with corn chowder for my entree. The corn chowder was great and the burger was easily one of the best in the twin cities. We ended the meal with a delicious chocolate tres leches dessert. I can't wait to go back!

My husband and I went here for dinner on a Saturday with a reservation at 7 PM. The place was busy upon our arrival, but we were seated within 5-10 minutes. The hosts were welcoming and professional, and I liked the ongoing explanation. Once we were seated, a staff came by with water. Our waiter stopped by and took our drink order. The wait staff seems knowledgeable about bourbons. My favorite part was the food! It was delicious! I love the complimentary corn nuts. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful. My husband said it was the best mole he had ever had. (He lived in New Mexico for a bit). The hanger steak dish was delicious. I love the black beans as it was prepared well. Finally the dessert was amazing! The whip on the tres leches look homemade. I love that the churro was chocolate filled. We will be back.

Finally got around to trying this spot. The food was good, i ordered the lux burger. Mainly just cheese & patty on a brioche bun. While I didn't eat the sweet pickles that came on the side, I did enjoy the variety of aioli. The garlic one was my really good! I also ordered a cosmo which was nice. It was a bit on the pricer end. The service was great and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance was okay.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

For the entrees the Tagliatelle with Oxtail and Rigatoni with Oyster Mushrooms both had exquisite sauces. I don't think I could have asked for anything different. I am usually let down by pasta and this did not disappoint. Our server was attentive and welcoming, the table was plated and organized, and we had a nice few other the kitchen and got to see all the meals being plated. I wanted to order one of everything - especially in the snacks section of the menu. We stopped in for happy hour with a reservation on the patio. I really enjoyed I could reserve a spot outside, a lot of places won't guarantee that. We enjoyed the happy hour selection, including the tini flight, wine, margarita and spritz. We also enjoyed oysters, caviar, rock shrimp tempura, tallow fries and the dexter burger. All was fantastic, and I would love to come back and truly try everything else on the menu! One note of caution, while we were there a gust of wind blew an umbrella out of its stand and almost landed/punctured a guest at a nearby table. It was quite the commotion and very scary. I'm guessing that doesn't happen often but a good reminder to be aware of your surroundings all the time!

This place does get busy so definitely keep that in mind. Luckily I made reservations ahead of time so we had a table waiting for us, otherwise we would have been put on a waiting list since it's a small space. They put us in a corner booth which was nice and spacious enough for 4 people so I'd definitely recommend asking for a booth verse a table if you're planning to come with a larger group. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their attentiveness and sharing what they like best, especially for what's in season based on the time of year. The menu has quite a bit of variety too which is sometimes unexpected when you come to a pub-style location. For appetizers we got Onion Ring and Fried Pickles. They were both really good and served with dipping sauces. Definitely both shareable items so if you're in a group they'd be great options! My entree I chose the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon served with lemon soy marinade, creamy cucumbers, and jasmine rice -- it was SO good!! I loved the creaminess of the cucumbers especially with the rice and than the lemon soy marinade was just a unique touch to the salmon. Toned the flavors down without overpowering acidity. And the salmon was so dreamy, a beautiful pink color that you just knew it wasn't a farm raised salmon. Plus the portion was very generous!! I'd definitely recommend the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon to anyone interested in visiting here. #eatwildsavewild The only negatives (which are more so just knowledge bombs for you): * Restaurant is VERY loud. It's hard to hear because it is one small room that everyone plus the bar is in. I wished I would have took a picture to show what I mean. Just know that if it's an intimate setting you're looking for this is not the place. So be prepared to talk loudly over the loudness and ask "excuse me?" or "repeat that" many times throughout your visit because you're not going to hear everything. * Timed eating. Because this place is a hit with limited seating, once you get a table and complete your meal/payment you'll kindly be asked to leave so that they can clean up and open the table to next in line. Totally get that and am not put off by this at all, but I could see how it could catch some folks off guard especially if you are out for a meal with folks you may not see frequently-- so just keep that in mind. This is not the place to sit and talk post meal. * Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks as the road parking in front of the business is pretty limited especially with the other stores and restaurants in the area. Regardless of those few bullets I highly recommend folks visit George & The Dragon. It's a really cool spot and the food was great! Plus theirs a malt shop right next door that looks yummy too, so definitely worth visiting and getting malts after for dessert.

I started with their signature cocktail, the Naked Dani. It comes topped with a salty foam and a little rubber duck, which makes it a fun and memorable drink. For food, we ordered a variety of dishes to share. We started with the Crispy Masa Chips, and honestly, I would probably skip those next time. The portion was pretty small, they were a little awkward to eat, and they just didn't stand out flavor-wise. The Cucumber Watermelon Salad, on the other hand, was amazing. It was light and refreshing, making it the perfect addition to the meal. The roasted sweet potatoes were another favorite--they had so much flavor and were cooked perfectly. We also ordered the Corn Elote Chipotle, which was absolutely delicious. I could have easily eaten the whole bowl myself. For tacos, we tried the Pork Carnitas, and they were fantastic. If you're dining with a larger group, you can even order a larger portion so everyone gets one. Our favorite dish of the night, though, was the Zubuton Asada. It only comes with one skewer and is definitely one of the pricier menu items, but it was worth it. The steak was cooked perfectly, incredibly flavorful, and easily the standout of the meal. We also tried the Chicken Thigh Pincho. It had a nice flavor but was spicier than I expected, so it's probably the one dish I would pass on during my next visit. Overall, we had such a fun dining experience. It's definitely more of a special occasion spot than somewhere I'd visit regularly because of the price, but everything from the atmosphere to most of the food made it feel well worth the splurge.

I'm fancy, so I wanted something a bit more upscale. I did a little bit of research and wouldn't you know it... Colita came up. So here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set south of downtown and a bit west of The Mall of America on Penn Avenue is this gem. There is no private parking lot, but plenty of street parking to leave your fly ride. But once you walk up to the restaurant you can immediately understand the message they're trying to send. Everything looks so modern, straightforward with straight lines, grey colors and light woods. There is a small outdoor section where you can dine if you get lucky enough to land a spot there. Inside carries a very similar style with a little nod to the pueblos and architecture of the southwest. The decor is minimalistic and the "loudest" thing in the room is the live plant wall seated directly behind the bar, which was super cool. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but we had no issues whatsoever. Food/Drink: I was able to try so many different dishes and drinks here and the list is below... : Xochitl In Love : La Clandestina : Tuna Tostada : Chicken Tinga Tostada : Seared Scallops : Tlayuda : Colita Old Fashioned : Lamb Barbacoa Tacos : Duck Tamal However, my favorite things were the Lamb Barbacoa Tacos, Duck Tamal and Seared Scallops, in that order. The food here is phenomenal, the drinks are excellently crafted and things are served tapas style so you don't get too full off of just one thing! Order a whole bunch of stuff and share with the table! Value: As I mentioned earlier, I wanted upscale and the priced dddooo reflect that. Lol. This is a nice place so be prepared to spend... Like you're downtown somewhere. In conclusion, I loved this place and I will come back over and over. Check this place out the next time you're in the area!
