The hubby and I stopped here for dinner. The prices were average. The place had a unique layout. It was loud but it also had live entertainment. They did offer outdoor seating. The service was excellent. The food was absolutely delicious. This Greek restaurant is truly authentic. We will definitely be coming back.

We were really disappointed with our experience here. The food itself was pretty good, so that wasn't the issue. We sat for a good 2 hours before we got any food. We had to wait 45 minutes for our drinks. I understand if a backed up kitchen is causing the problems, but there wasn't a ton of effort to right the wrong. We liked the live music.

Absolutely amazing Greek food in the heart of Ogunquit - an unexpected and very welcoming find. Patio seating (next to a fire pit), quiet and intimate atmosphere. Started with bread and olive oil and ordered the lamb shank and psari plaki. Amazing food - well done and delicious. Psari Plaki is a local cod with gigantes beans and olives in a yummy tomato sauce, baked in the oven. And the lamb shank was well done juicy lamb accompanied by feta cheese mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. Large and filling portions, excellent presentation and all the flavors! I accompanied my meal with a glass of Greek Chardonnay. We didn't have space for dessert, BUT took a piece of galactoboureko to go. Ogunquit is not a place I expected to find quality Greek food, and I am glad I was proven wrong. Highly recommending Nicanos! As the server about the origin of the name

Recently had brunch at Nikanos in Ogunquit & was thoroughly impressed, so I had to come back for dinner ASAP. I'm obsessed with Greek cuisine. The cocktails were stunning & delicious. We were served soft bread, & we also ordered calamari, flaming saganaki, & the trio of dips. Everyone raved about their entrees; I personally loved the lamb shank with feta mashed potatoes, pasta, & flatbread. Everything was seasoned to perfection. Can't wait to come back to try something new.

Breads are the highlights. Tzaziki too. Braised lamb was very good. Shish kebabs too. Greek owner is a great guy. Outdoor dining on street is best. Open year round too.

This was a very nice Greek upscale restaurant. Bar was very good. The service was excellent also. Tables are fairly close together. Definitely delightful atmosphere and the food was extremely good.

Nikanos Mediterranean Bar and Grille, located on Main Street in Ogunquit, ME, offers a satisfying dining experience that showcases its unique approach to Greek Mediterranean cuisine. The menu features dishes rooted in family recipes, providing a distinctive culinary experience. The ambiance is well-suited for social gatherings, often accompanied by entertainment. The expertly crafted cocktails and attentive service further enhance the dining experience. Our meals were exceptional, with my pork chop special being a highlight. Prices are comparable to other local establishments, and vegetarian options are available. As a popular spot among tourists and locals, Nikanos can be bustling, but its distinctive dining areas, including open-air concepts, help to mitigate the crowds. The owner's personal attention to detail is evident in their commitment to ensuring a pleasant dining experience for all guests. I highly recommend Nikanos for a memorable dining experience in Ogunquit.

We discovered Nikanos this summer, and we've already been back three times! It's the perfect spot for dinner before catching a show at the Ogunquit Playhouse. I'm usually all about trying new restaurants, but in a town filled with tourist traps, it's tough to find a locally owned place that serves quality food at fair prices. Nikanos doesn't disappoint! From the spanakopita and lamb meatballs to their famous pastitsio (think Greek lasagna) and moussaka, everything has been delicious. The drinks are a bit of a hit or miss -- sometimes inconsistent -- but I do love the fact that their cocktail menu is quite extensive. The service is fantastic, even when they're packed. We like to give ourselves about 1.5 to 2 hours before a show to relax and enjoy our meal, and that's always worked well. The servers are incredibly attentive. The vibe is totally Ogunquit! The outdoor seating is awesome during the summer and fall (they have heaters for cooler nights), and they often have a live band. It's the perfect background music because you can still hear each other talk. I love sitting outside, soaking in the energy of the city. Pro tip: definitely call ahead for reservations since they get busy!

What a great find in Ogunquit, Maine. We came upon it because it was the first parking space on the dinner hour on July 4 we could find. They literally squeezed us in and glad they did! I never had Nouveau Mediterranean before! We started with the spicy calamari. Perfectly battered, fried and served with roasted onion and hot peppers and some garbanzos sprinkled with a wonderful mild feta to cool the heat a bit. It just got better from there. My date had beef souvlaki that was cooked exquisitely to medium rare as ordered with a lovely medley of cooked veggies! I had Yia Yia's roasted chicken! Fantastic!! We both loved each other's dinners! We also both had the lemon roasted potatoes that were superb! Two waiters served us with efficiency and finesse. One waiter was Nick and he was amazing. We never caught his parter's name. The restaurant was mostly open and comfortable on what had been a hot day. The place was packed and the live musicians playing and singing hits of the 60's and 70's topped the wonderful atmosphere!! Nikanos will definitely see me again!! Yasou!

I love Greek food and this did not disappoint. The space is gorgeous with ample indoor and outdoor seating. The place was filled with regulars and the owners were checking in on their guests. The bar area was big and our server was great. We ordered a salad, a fish dish and mussels. We left happy.

    Greek sampler

Three of us went for Sunday brunch we all LOVED it! More food in the sampler than I needed but it was terrific! Hummus, red bean dip and tzatziki with a grilled pita, 2 dolmades, a piece of spanakopita and who knew that ordinary fried zucchini could be SO incredibly good? My friends loved the fish tacos made with cod and tzatziki and the eggs with housemade hollandaise with a bit of za'atar were very well-received. And a shout out to Sarra E--she was really knowledgeable about the menu and had a warm and easy manner. The whole thing was just a great experience and we're looking forward to a return trip to try out the dinner menu!

Love space is actually quite lovely and very clean and welcoming. I was greeted right when i came in and was helped with all my questions by the nice gentleman. He recommended some dishes and he did not steer me wrong! I opted for the feta fries, the chicken rice bowl with pita, the dolmades, and the baklava. Everything was delicious and so fresh tasting. Get all the side sauces (tzatziki, hummus, garlic dip) they are so good and you can tell they are made in house. The chicken in the bowl i got was cooked perfectly and so fresh. The feta fries are such a fun addition as well as the dolmades since i had been wanting to try those! The baklava is a perfect sweet end to the meal you can't miss. What a great experience - it's worth noting how fast the can put together your order as well. I would also love to mention that a delivery driver came in and the man made him food to take with him which was extremely sweet. As someone who works in a similar industry i know how rare it is when you come across someone who thanks their delivery drivers like this man did. This is a must try spot!!!!

The portion size is variable. I've had it "generous" and I've had it "Whoa - that's a LOT of food". They're not covered with a standard tzatziki sauce - theirs is more feta forward. Super tasty. The fries vary as well. Sometimes a bit crunchier and sometimes, while still crunchy, more toward McD fries style. But it's just the outer surface that crunches. Inside it's smooth and creamy. Top drawer. You'll find that they tuck a few fries into the wrap. A nice touch. The only negative point is speed. I've always been there early - the first for lunch. But it still takes a fair bit of time to get the food. Arrive during the crowded time and you're definitely going to be waiting around. But ... worth it. I have strong opinions and I know what I'm used to eating when it comes to the "food of the Gods" as I call Greek cuisine. For that reason, I have waited a long time to eat at the Greeks of Peaks. I just did not want to be disappointed. Well, to be honest, I was NOT disappointed!!! The Greeks of Peaks serves up some really good Greek food with the requisite amount of lemon, oregano and familiar Greek deliciousness!!! Bravo to the other Greeks of Peaks!!! I will be back and I give it a strong recommendation indeed without any native Greek reservation! The customer service was friendly and good as well. Those women keep a smile on their faces while turning out some very good food! And all in a truck too! It is mind boggling to me that only 3 people can cook up such good food, serve it up in a friendly and fast way and create a happy dining experience, all while working in a small truck in an outside dining room. Okay okay since I am reviewing this establishment AND since I am Greek, I will have some thoughts on some things. The serving containers are too flimsy. They should be sturdier and, I think, larger. For the prices, I did want more food. But the cardboard containers soaked up too much of the dressing and the delicious oils - I was worried they wouldn't last through my meal. Also I did not like the forks at all. Please - parakalo - give me better utensils for my next meal with you! I look forward to many more great Greek meals with the Greeks of Peaks!!!
