I really hate to be a bad idea, but this place was terrible, think twice about eating here with this staff. Thought I would try this. My son had went last week with his girlfriend and daughter. We usually go to Norma's about a mile down the road in the other direction. Never again, this was definitely a one and , from the attitude by the waitress, when she first approached our table, to finding out she was the manager when we asked to speak to the manager. Ordered the croissant egg sandwich (croissant was overcooked and burnt bacon was dried out and burnt eggs. Look like they've been sitting for a while overcooked) with potatoes that look like it was a pile of smooshed skins, my 5 yr old granddaughter ordered chocolate chip pancake, which was overcooked and burnt underneath, my adult son ordered pancakes, the flattest things you ever saw, there was only two of them and one was extremely burnt. When the Waitress finally came back to the table. We told her about the food never offered to replace it came back with a bill for the child pancake, and one pancake that my son ate off the pile. When she left, we asked to speak to a manager. She came back and said she was a manager and the owner, I'm not sure I truly believe, but we told her about the food. She took the Bill crumbled it up and threw it and said not to worry about it. I said to her you never even asked me if I would like something else. Also told her my son was still wanted to eat pancakes just not a burnt one. She brought a pancake. Other customers noticed her attitude also. We are A year round family and owner here in this town, with all the tourist that could frequent this place, if she is having a bad day, She should've left it at the door or didn't come in, will have someone else take care of the tables. It was only a few people in that restaurant at the time.. This is truly not the way to treat your customers at all. We will definitely be going back, will go to Norma's. Also, this was about 9 o'clock. We walked in and there was only one other table with people., It's not like they were being slammed. read more

The food is good. Can't argue that. The vibes? Totally fits in Maine. The service? Good lord. I hate leaving bad reviews because the service industry is hard but; we were a party of two, and routinely ignored for larger groups. When the waitress finally did give come over to ask if we wanted drinks, she was, at best, half listening, and then went to another table to have a conversation. She took care of people sat well after us, was on her phone constantly, and mixed up our order. She also decided writing anything down was a no go, and conversely kept getting everything wrong and having to ask about orders that weren't even ours. Then, she got visibility annoyed when I finally caught her eye and asked for the check. Threw the credit card down on the table. And to the old guy in a money shirt that felt the need to scream sing happy birthday at some poor soul... read the room dude. Good food though. read more

The other 6 people at my table enjoyed their food immensely. Service is good. Nice staff. They can make breakfast and lunch anytime, which was great for me as I don't care for breakfast foods. Great location. There is one food item that was surprisingly disappointing. Others may like it, but the tuna melt is not what most would think. If you like to eat tuna without mayonnaise mixed in, this is for you. The tuna was served hot. It appears the tuna was grilled with onions and then put on the bread to further grill the sandwich. I've never seen a tuna melt without mayonnaise mixed in with the tuna. It was too fishy for my tasting. We will go back, but just won't get the tuna melt. read more

Thanks to the Yelpers for steering us in the right direction. Mom and I took our annual trip up North, a little later than usual. The places that we've enjoyed in the past were closed for the season, so we needed to find something in the direction heading home. We saw Rick's was listed by different names, but Rick's Blue Jay Cafe was on the sign when we arrived. The space was brightly lit and welcoming with a quiet reggae music playing in the background. The menu offered a lot of interesting options. We had both eyed the huevos rancheros and mom almost ordered it to go. Instead she opted for a blackened fish with poached eggs & hollandaise sauce. I chose the homemade hash with scrambled eggs and a cup of coffee. The food was prepared quickly, correctly and served hot. We will definitely be adding this to our favorite places up north. read more

This is clearly a popular breakfast and lunch cafe located conveniently on Route 1. The selection on the menu is impressive and the prices seem reasonable. We did have a brief wait for a table for 6. I had the stuffed French Toast, which was so unique. With two pieces of brioche they coat the inside with mascarpone and I selected blueberries. It was delicious! I enjoyed seeing the various artwork displayed on the walls. It really adds to the cozy atmosphere in the cafe. Our server was very nice and attentive. I will definitely return if we are in the York area again. read more

Great food, great people. This place is an absolute find in York, Maine. The menu left me spiraling on what to order with so many delicious and fresh made creations. It's a simple place with ample seating. The coffee comes hot and the servers are friendly and fun to chat with. I went for the house corned beef hash which was outstanding. Even the rye bread was super fresh and great. At our table we also had the divide which is a ham and cheese omelette smothered in a homemade green chili sauce. The food and service were amazing. I had a Florentine eggs Benedict and it was outstanding and absolutely delicious. I also tried the blueberry pancakes, which were also out of this world. The ambiance was so cute with mini flowers on the table and trivia pursuit cards. I guess I could complain about the estimated wait time but sometimes that's not within their control especially for Sunday brunch. It was a gorgeous day so we just sat . The wait supposed to be 30 minutes, but it was probably 45 minutes an hour. I highly recommend this breakfast place! read more

OMG, this place... has the best cup of coffee in the WORLD. I do not exaggerate whatsoever! A very fine cuppa!! Whenever we are up on US Route 1, we stop here for either breakfast AND their coffee, or if open, and we are driving by antiquing, we stop for the coffee. All of the breakfast dishes are top-shelf too. Fantastic eggs, pancakes, and pastry. Fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection. We've been there about five times, and never had a bad experience. Perfect breakfast spot! Looks like all locals in this Monday morning but still very busy. We sampled both sweet and savory. I highly recommend the breakfast burrito packed with bacon, eggs and potatoes. It's submerged in a pork sauce and covered in cheese. The balance to this yumminess was a big bowl of yogurt with homemade granola and fresh banana and strawberries. Also perfect ! I wanted to like this place. The reviews looked great, the menu looked fantastic so I was looking forward to it. Service was OK. Waitress forgot drinks and brought out the wrong meal. The food was very disappointing. The sausage and ham were cooked to within an inch of their lives. The potatoes were so bland that even ketchup could not save them.
