It's rare that I don't give a 4 or a 5 to a restaurant, usually a 5. Between the overcooked food and the terrible service it's a 2. This is our second time coming on a Sunday afternoon. In both cases they were unable to prepare the food well. Last week I had eggs Benedict and the egg yolks were solid and The English muffin was not really toasted and was cold. I sent the Benedict back but Asked to keep the rest of the food because I was hungry. The girl ignored my Request, Took my entire plate and did not return with the other food on it. I literally waited 10 minutes for them to redo the eggs while my partner finished his breakfast and I had nothing to eat. The Hollandaise sauce was Very Good, but ham on the Benedict was incredibly thin. I've had many eggs Benedict and this was unusual to offer A slice of ham comparable to a thin deli slice. My partner's omelette Was quite Brown but had good veggies in it. His hashbrowns were barely cooked. Today We both ordered a veggie omelette with chicken in my partner's. I made it very clear that my veggie omelette should not be Brown (= overcooked) . The girl read Back our order and she wrote My request very clearly. What arrived at our table was quite a shock! My omelette was definitely Brown and my partner's omelette was dark Brown. My brown omelette had chicken (his order) and his omelette was actually my order and dark brown! I've never seen an omelette served that was that overcooked! How could they possibly ignore the instructions and mixed them up? Add to this that his toast was burnt. Really? You can't prepare Toast properly? When I brought it to their attention one of the girls she said I could see how you might think that as I showed her the burnt toast. She said we have already put everything away in the kitchen and so I don't know that we can do anything about it. We said it would be fine if it's an English muffin but, something that's not burnt. She disappeared into the kitchen for quite a while. Eventually when she resurfaced she brought the unevenly toasted bread, (But not burnt) and proceeded to tell us the following: " If you would get here earlier (We arrived 40 min before closing) we could serve you better" ( I later realized Those must be words from the owner). So if I arrive earlier my food wont be overcooked?Or if I arrive earlier they Have time to correct their mistakes? I knew the kitchen closes at 1:40. Waiting at the counter To ask about soup, I stood for 5 + minutes watching 5 employees move about. Finally I was able to ask and waited another minute or so while she went to go to the Back to ask. Now in line to order the man before me was trying to order (before 1:40) a vegan omelette. The girl said it was too late. He explained he had driven all the way from Riverside and it was still within the timeframe to order. She went back into the kitchen and a woman came out. (the owner? ) . The woman proceeded to chastise the young man for coming in late and trying to order a vegan omelette. She told him he'd done this before and he should get here earlier. He explained that he had not actually ordered but had tried. She said several times that she would make an exception this time but it can't happen again. And she continued to chastise him. Who treats their customers like this? .I literally watched the minutes tick by, wondering if I'd make it before the cutoff. More people entered. . Ah oh, do they know about the cutoff in 1 minute?? The girl behind the counter announced that no more orders would be taken after 1:45. Aw, they were being generous by allowing five more minutes to order. But there's no way these people could get their order in within the next five minutes. Will they say, too late, After they've been waiting in Line? Why not say instead, our kitchen is closing but we will be happy to take your orders. And why not hang a sign on the door that says the kitchen is closed at 1:40 But still accommodate diners's needs? The omelette tasted good but the experience was so negative, Such unkindness, Completely lacking in hospitality. read more

Cute lil spot! Such a great place to meet friends or tuck into a book along with a sweet treat. Love that they have seasonal drinks that change every month. I can only speak to their breakfast but I thought their pancakes were delish! I've sample their cinnamon roll and it's perfect -- get it warmed up! We have been here multiple times as it is a family favorite. We have eaten in all areas of the restaurant. I would say the food is really good. They are very accommodating with specific requests. Service is always friendly and kind. One time they made a mistake with my order but they apologized right away and promptly made a new one for me. The ambience is friendly and casual. This place is usually busy at the weekend because everyone feels comfortable and has a good time with tasty food here. We have had good experiences here with varying party sizes from 2 people to over 10 people. They have all the breakfast and brunch staples and the food is cooked fresh. Luckily once we ordered we were able to get a seat right away. What we ordered ~ Cookie Butter Latte was ok, couldn't taste the cookie butter flavoring as much as hopped for. ~ BlueBerry Latte is my fav. They make their syrups in house. Taste a bit of lavender and love it. One of my fav drinks here. ~ Spanish Latte ~ lemon blueberry scone is pretty moist, soft and really delicious served warm, when asked if i wanted it toasted. Spread on the whipped in house butter and it melted in my mouth. So yum! One of the best scones I've tasted! ~ coffee cake ~ chocolate croissant ~ Build your own Avocado Toast is really yum! & recommended, Comes with 4 hefty loafs of bread slices. Definitely a shareable entree. Service & the associates are always so friendly, great here. If you see a table that guest just left, the associates are pretty fast cleaning it right away or you can ask them. They are good at that to welcome the next group of guests. They offer more seating area in the back along in the back outdoor patio. Great food! I had the veggie egg bowl and the combination of veggies, including red onions, was absolutely delicious. AND, tropical iced tea. Heavenly. You can't get that everywhere. We have an annual Mother's Day luncheon and this year, we came to Nikki's Kitchen. The service was great. It's typically just an order and sit place but since we had since a big group. The inside is very cute. We called ahead and they reserved us a section outside where they have more tables available. And they also came out and took our orders from us at the table, they just added 18% gratuity. But honestly, they deserved the added tip. The food was good. They are a breakfast and lunch place. I got their tuna melt and it came with a cookie and a slice of orange. My mom ordered their hot pastrami sandwich and we shared the loaded chaos fries. All were very delicious. I also got their honey cinnamon latte with oat milk. It originally was too sweet for me so I went to the counter and asked them to add an extra shot and that I would pay for it. But they said that they would take care of it at no charge and then bring it out to me. (I had to leave a tip cause that just didn't feel right to me) but when it came back it was perfect! My mom order the blueberry pancake latte and it really did taste like blueberry pancake with a hint of coffee. Very good. All feedback about what we ordered was very positive. Adorable hole in the wall cafe. Staff were so friendly, beautiful decor with a French country theme. This was a great place to stop in for a girls lunch. They have a large menu with plenty of offerings and a bakery cafe offering sweet treats and specialty coffees. Tons of seating in a back room, you wouldn't even know it was there unless you walked down the hallway. There's also tons of art in the back room, wish I knew about it sooner or I would have enjoyed my lunch back there! Highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area! read more

The amount of times I've been to Nikki's each time it never disappoints. I'm actually shocked at the fact that I hadn't left a review here for here years ago bc I recommend it almost immediately for anyone who wants to meet up for a brunch hang. It's always the best place for anyone with a craving for good breakfast options and coffee and pastries. Funnily enough I've been going here for about 2-3 years now and just couple of months ago I found out that they had extra seating in the back and outside LOL. It was hilarious when a friend of mine told me to follow her down the hall and I kept saying I didn't need to use the restroom, and she's like no, there's more seating back here! I NEVER KNEW! It was a Narnia surprise! Food wise in my opinion you can't go wrong, I love their breakfast bowl and I used to joke that I would never order an avocado toast at a restaurant because I can make that at home but their Greek feta avocado toast IS SO GOOD! their orange juice and hot chocolate and coffees are stellar too. Nice atmosphere and was crowded. Front and back seating. They have coffees and teas and freshly squeezed OJ. We had a veggie Omelette; a few kinds of teas, scrambled eggs and oatmeal. The veggie omelette was great and it had avocados on it. The teas were in a small hot pot and they were delicious. The scrambled eggs were basic And the oatmeal was really dry. I had to put some milk, Splenda and other things in it to bring it alive. Next time I will try something different. Overall, a good visit and good food. read more

This was my first time here and it could've been a five star rating. I went with a friend and neither of us had been there. Parking was easy, the outside had a nice curb appeal. We opened the door and it was busy. We waited a short time by what looked like a hostess stand. No signs or directions to sit ourselves, but we eventually did. We sat for about 10 minutes and nobody came even though we saw many servers going around the restaurant. We were meeting a friend there, so didn't mind waiting. When our friend got there he told us we have to go to the counter to order- I wish there had been some notification regarding how they operated here! All that said, it was a nice experience. The food came out fairly quickly, the portions were large and very reasonably priced. Fresh avocado on the breakfast bowl and a generous portion of bacon made up for the rough start. The food was delicious!The service changed a lot after we had our food with people coming by to check on us and offer to bring more tea or coffee. It is a comfortable casual setting. I would definitely recommend this place just be aware of how to order your food. Plus we didn't even try any of the baked goods which looked very tasty. read more

I stopped by Nikki's today for the first time to have breakfast. I was surprised by how full it was for 10am on a Wednesday. I figured that to be a good sign. It's first come first served seating and you order at the counter. I had a regular coffee, a veggie breakfast bowl, a half order of biscuits with sausage gravy and a piece of coffee cake to go. I wanted a piece of banana bread but it was already sold out so it must be pretty good. The breakfast bow was fabulous and the veggies all tasted so fresh. It was nice and cheesy with fine cut potatoes and really hit the spot. Now the biscuits and gravy were outstanding. The sausage gravy was so delicious, very creamy and savory. The coffee cake was also great not too sweet with a touch of lemon I think, very enjoyable. (Still want to try that banana bread haha) The staff was great and very friendly. The restaurant was clean and inviting with a home like feel to it. Not sure what goes on, on the other side of the restaurant but it was full of artwork that was fun to look at. Loved the aesthetic of this place! The cherry on top was the sweet and kind service. My friend and I came here for brunch and had a lot of questions about the menu and Paige was so patient with us. The pastrami sandwich was delicious and paired perfectly with the tomato soup and chicken caesar salad. I had the biscuits and gravy and they were very good we came when they first opened and they were a work in progress at that point but now they're really good. I also had a side of bacon. It was perfectly cooked tasty crispy, and reasonably priced my wife had a sandwich which they were able to accommodate even though his breakfast Talk about great service! It's been a long while since you've been in here in the ambience and the decorations set the tone for having breakfast or brunch and a comfortable place with great atmosphere. I needed a place to have a quick breakfast with traditional eggs/pancakes before heading out to a spa date with my mom. I agree with the other reviews: 1. Cute decor and very festive with Christmas decorations. 2. Lots of seating/spacious. 3. Order at the counter even if ordering meals and dining in. The one thing I found very uncomfortable about this is having to tip for a service I hadn't received. FOOD: Pancake and eggs: pancakes were hard and weren't enjoyable...we left more than half. Eggs Benedict- eggs cooked well but the sauce was salty. Hash browns were one thin layer Food portions----TINY Total takeaway: Total for two small breakfast plates and coffee was $45 not including a $8 tip for no service received other than bringing the plates to the table. Disappointed. 3 weeks in a row, it was WAY too long of a line to eat here, and today(Mother's Day), I arrived way early to get a seat. Only half the restaurant was full, so good timing, I got in line and then watched as only ONE person was working the front.(taking orders and making drinks). Even though I was second in line, they did not take ANY orders for 20 minutes while I sat there. Then, I get up, and the woman in the back came out to say.."tell everyone it is at least an hour for food to be served. Again, ruining our planned meal. It was clear this morning that the issue here is that this place is ran horribly. This also explains why each week I come in there is a line...because they don't take the orders for 20 minutes! But what is mind blowing is that they do not figure out how to adjust and staff up to support this busy time, ESPECIALLY on the obvious Mother's Day. Unfortunately, I won't be back because this is just too many times that we've been "turned away" by bad service. OK let me be clear on why I gave this highly rated brunch place three stars out of 5. found ourselves kid free on a Sunday and on spur of the moment looked up a nice little breakfast spot & found Nikki's and was was excited to try it out. Went there despite the half hour to 40 minute wait that we were told for the food to come not including the 15 min wait in line to order!! we decided to wait it out & give it a try. The reason for the three star review is the place really didn't live up to the hype. In my opinion. It was expensive, a long wait, the food & coffee was just OK! Yes it was fresh tasting, but nothing spectacular or memorable... felt overrated and overpriced. Two simple entrées, one without protein +2 coffees and one side order of toast costed us exactly $60!!? That includes tip yikes!! you have to admit that's a pretty pricey brunch for just two of us. Unfortunately I will not be coming back. Not to mention it's not full service and not to mention I waisted one and a half hours of eating food that I wasn't too impressed & overpaid during our rare kid free time. read more

I really wanted to give this place a chance. I have tried it out several times and have been disappointed every time. The service has been particularly awful. The last time I was there, I was waiting at the register (with no one else in line) for about 10 minutes as the person working behind the counter kept looking at me and then quickly looked away without saying a word. She was, however, laughing with another woman behind the counter, which would have been completely fine if she acknowledged me in any capacity as I had been waiting for some time. When she did finally take my order, she seemed cold and unfriendly. This was also at 10:30 am on a Tuesday with a very small crowd. It was just a really weird and uncomfortable environment. On top of that, they forgot half my order, and when they did finally give it to me, it was not what I ordered. At that point, I just wanted to leave and not return. While Nikki's has a winning appearance at first glance, I am not persuaded I would return. It's a small cafe bistro located in adorable Yorba Linda. The tiny front dining area is actually deceptive, as there is a hallway that leads to a large room and art gallery in the back and a pleasant, shaded patio. This is in case you prefer to get away from the deafening cacophony we witnessed on a Sunday morning. The quaint setting and the obvious foodie attraction to so many locals is what lured us to try Nikki's this Sunday morning. Food, pastries, and beverages are ordered at the counter, and a cute wooden spoon with a number is handed to you to display on your table so the food runner knows which order is yours. A display case is strategically placed that contains freshly baked temptations like croissants, cookies, cinnamon rolls, tea breads, and scones. The staff were pleasant and efficient. Good coffee is essential to me. But the espresso they brewed for my Americano was not good. Hours later, I am still regretting my choice. It's not the caffeine effect I dislike, it's the actual choice of bean. It has left an aftertaste that I cannot get rid of. IMHO, Mr. B's Mocha was the same, and way too sweet. We chose two filled croissants to pair with our coffee. Mine, an almond croissant, which I lightly reheated at home, hopefully to crisp and maximize the buttery layers and filling. I was sorely disappointed. The inner layers were too bready, there were minimal almonds on top, and if there was any, the almond paste filling was practically AWOL. Not impressed, I've had far better. His chocolate croissant was only slightly better. The chocolate was good, but the pastry dough was nothing special. I would not recommend these. I wish I had at least gotten my free cookie with Yelp check-in to give them one more chance. To be fair, we did not stay for breakfast. I did see some delicious plates of food delivered to the tables. But my hope at finding a new bistro was dulled since trying this today. read more

From time to time we walk here for breakfast with the dogs. With how often we come here I can't recall if I ever did a review of this place, so here goes. Something about their cold brew is so darn tasty that I have trouble get anything else. Well also I drink coffee black so I'm just limited on what to get. The wife enjoys all their types of coffee though. Wife always gets their loaded hash and will not get anything else. She swears by this menu item. I on the other hand get half order of their biscuits and gravy, add egg and add some sort of meat on the side (usually bacon) Today I had their burrito for the first time and got it Tom's way and gosh darn they make it tough on what to order. This is enough to share for two or have a second meal! Don't forget their patties, that coffee cake and cinnamon swirl has got to be the best!! I wish we eat in more often instead of take out, I really like the inside and decor of the place. read more

Last weekend we were out running errands and decided to pick up some breakfast to bring home. I placed our order online, and it was ready to be picked up within the 12 minutes it took us to drive over here. I stayed in the car while my husband went in to get the food. He said it's super tiny inside, but very cute. While inside picking up our food, he ordered a S'mores Iced Latte, and was impressed by how fast they made his drink. It was super sweet and tasty, we both liked the coffee they used in it. We got home and dug into our food. For him, a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on a croissant, for me a bacon breakfast burrito, and to share, a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy. Everything was excellent! The portions are large as well, so we saved half of everything and ate it the next day. I loved that my burrito was so eggy! I find more and more often breakfast burritos have more potatoes than egg in them, so I really liked this one. They also give you a mild red salsa and sour cream on the side and both went great with the flavors in the burrito! Their sausage gravy was also very tasty, we were glad I got this side for us to try. Breakfast was about $35, and seeing how it fed us over two days, I think it was a good value. Pros: 1) Cute, cozy, aesthetic atmosphere for tea/brunch 2) Parking is easy in their lot 3) Friendly service 4) Certain tea items were good (e.g., scones) 5) Loved their earl gray tea Cons: 1) Reservation system is inefficient and difficult to get especially in summer months (you have to email to get a reservation) 2) Sandwiches are decent, missing certain types of sandwiches (e.g., smoked salmon) you would normally see at tea time 3) Teas do not come in a tea pot, but a french press and sandwiches come in a tray vs. two tiered stands 4) Tea is lukewarm and sugar do not come in cubes Overall, I believe tea time is about $30 pp which I think is fairly high given you don't get the full "tea time" experience. But I do appreciate that they offer it! I will have to come back to try their brunch items next time. read more
