Great place! The food is delicious, and their smoothies are by far my favorite. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, and the service is excellent. On top of that, the restaurant has a really cool and unique atmosphere. I remember when the restaurant first opened, they had a machine that made custom pins. One of the employees, a very kind lady, helped my brother and me create a few pins, and it's a memory that has always stuck with me. Went on a Saturday motorcycle ride to Big Bear Lake and on the way I decided to have lunch at Carbon Canyon Coffee. Ordered the Olinda Burger $13 & a Coke $2.50, I didn't have bacon in it and it was a tasty burger with 2 patties, sauteed onions, onion ring, bbq sauce and mayo. Service was friendly leaving a $2 tip after I ordered and wasn't busy so a guy served it to my table instead of calling out my name. Been driving through the canyon for a few years now and seen this place. Finally made it to try it. Love the decor with the signs, bicycles, and motorcycles inside. They use a Kyoto coffee press for their cold coffee. Holy cow what a different experience of coffee. No bitter and smooth with flavor that is above expectations. Now for the good food part. Had the Smoke Show yum fresh burger. Had the onion rings on the side cus I always feel that it's hard to eat with them inside. Added lettuce and tomato to it. The flavor is fantastic. As for their spicy chicken Sami oh my goodness it's actually spicy, but it's flavorful not just spice. It really all melds together. The two guys who work there are so patient. They were kind with all the questions for changes on the burger from me. I am always asking for changes and I feel bad, but they made it feel like no big deal. They both put love into what they make. All these years and I finally come in to visit Carbon Canyon Coffee. I ordered a churro latte and a breakfast sandwich. Churro latter was very flavorful with just the amount of extra kick (caffeine) needed. The breakfast sandwich comes with egg, cheese, & bacon on your choice of bread. You can add avocado if you like. This would've been a 4 (or 3) star if they didn't mess up my to-go order. I wanted to try this place out because an uncle recommended it for their coffee. And he was right, their coffee was good. I got the churro latte and it was enjoyable. But my friend got the charcoal mocha, and I could literally see clumps of dry charcoal all over the sides, and it didn't taste like mocha at all. I got the "142 sandwich" (from their menu) to-go, and I didn't realize it until I got home, but the sandwich was missing the bacon *and* the avocado. So I spent like $15 on flavorless pieces of sourdough. The ambience is cool, but it's def not a sit down and chat kind of place because there's no air conditioning and it gets hot in there (trust me, I was sweating while chatting with friends) The saving grace of this place is it's workers. Left San Diego on a very foggy Sunday morning... while it was super dark. :/ Our friend recommended this spot (she came from Temecula). Since we came on our motorcycles- I always have to check Google Maps to see what the parking entrance and situation is. The entrance is a steep driveway with potholes. Other than that, flat parking when you get to the bottom. Barely looked at the menu the day before we arrived. The Churro Latte is what grabbed my attention. Had to defrost my finger tips from a lil windchill- and ordered it hot. Wanted to have a quick nibble, since the rest of the day was an open book.... Can never go wrong with a bacon, egg, cheese bagel! Inside seating and a covered patio. It was great to run into the fellas from Manila Moto SoCal! Began following them on IG- a few weeks prior. I have only been here twice, but I am a fan. We typically only come here when we are in the area because it's not very close to us. I love how its hidden and in a quieter area. The theme is unique and cool with what looks like an auto shop theme. I had an iced matcha latte on my first visit and an iced churro latte on my second visit. Steven went with an iced vanilla latte both times. I found both of my flavors to be really good, and I could be wrong but I don't think my specialty choices were different in price than the vanilla, which is good for the specialty drinks but not the other way around. I enjoyed both flavors very much but that iced churro latte really hit the spot that day. I think I have only seen that flavor one other place so far, so that might be my "go to" for this business. Which is funny, because I get the iced matcha latte at the same other business almost every time. Service is always friendly, but always slow, at least on both of our visits. The first time was understandable because they were down to one machine that they were getting started that day because they had to use them at an event, and the employee had to start grinding beans as well. As for the second visit, I don't know why it was slow again. Drinks are a bit pricier than a lot of places, running at $12.35 for both of our iced lattes. A lot of places are around $10 with more and more slowly raising their prices. I would definitely come here every time I am in the area though for a good quality drink and maybe even to kick back for a bit due to its quiet atmosphere, that is hard to find. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for a few months now and held off coming to this spot because it is so out of the way for me but today was the day I finally tried this place out and I am so so disappointed to have a subpar experience. I love trying local coffee shops because the vibe is usually super chill. Seeing their past reviews and pictures made me want to visit this place even more. I took a 20 minute detour after work just to try it out and arrived to the parking lot around 7:40 AM. I took the longest way possibly to try and shave off more time but that only added 5 minutes of driving to get from work to here. Once they flipped the closed sign to open right at 8 AM, I was the first customer to walk in that door followed by two people behind me. I was told by the guy at the counter that the "coffee guy" isn't here until 9 AM and he can only serve "simple" drinks and food. That was a bummer because I really wanted to try their famous churro latte. I then thought their spark plug which is an americano with sparkling water was simple enough but the guy said he couldn't make that. He then offered to serve the kyoto cold brew but he had to check the back to make sure they had that in stock which should've already been done before opening time. As disappointed as I was with my first experience so far, I opted out for their regular kyoto cold brew. It was delicious but for $6 and ice filled halfway, it was definitely not worth the price. The people behind me were disappointed as well but they seemed to be regulars and called up the "coffee guy," Sean asking where he was which I found a little funny. I don't think I'll come back here anytime soon only because how will I know if the "coffee guy" is here on time or not? I won't be able to call in either because they won't even be open by the time I get there after work. I understand things happen and people run late but as my first experience trying this local shop, this was a major disappointment. The major red flag here was that your guy couldn't prepare something as simple as an americano with sparkling water. If they didn't have their cold brew prepared from the previous day, I would've left with nothing and that would've prompted me to leave a 1-star review. The quality of their cold brew alone gave them the extra 1-star but that was the only highlight of my visit. I was looking forward to coming here some time in the evening to try their burgers but I'm afraid their "burger guy" won't be in house. read more

This ultra-cool coffee cafe is way off the beaten path but I found it to be worth the drive. It's difficult to say this gem is a destination type of place but if you are ever anywhere in the Brea or Yorba Linda area it's worth driving a few extra minutes to visit. It's really in the middle of nowhere, amongst a couple of businesses in a rural plaza. The exterior is rustic and the interior has a motorcycle theme. A couple tables are inside and there are many comfortable seats in a covered patio that surrounds the exterior. I ordered a vanilla latte and also a chocolate chip muffin. The fellow working here was laid back with a subtle sense of humor. The muffin, sliced in half for easy eating, was fresh and delicious, full of tiny chips. The latte was a bit lacking in vanilla taste but made up for it by being an excellent brew; the coffee had great flavor that boldly shined through. This is a place for quality coffee. I appreciated it was served at an immediate drinkable temperature. I sat outside and enjoyed the quiet (except for the occasional chirp of birds), away from the sounds of the city. It was darn near a zen experience which is what pushed this to a full five stars for me. read more

I almost don't want to write a review for this place because I want to keep this place to myself. It's such a cool looking coffee shop with a motocross theme. There are several motorbikes and large Motul oil cans spread throughout the shop. It's definitely a manly coffee shop with a laid back atmosphere. If I wasn't in a hurry, I would've just chilled inside. I judge coffee shops by its pour over, and this place got it just right. I asked the barista for something with low acidity, higher sweetness, and balanced flavor. He recommended the single origin Columbia, and it was perfect. Pour over came out very smooth and had just the right amount of flavor without being bitter. I didn't even have to add any sugar or cream. It was great the way it was made. Carbon Mocha was also great. It's mocha with charcoal. It wasn't as sweet as a regular mocha, which I liked. You can get this hot, iced, or blended. Service was great, and price seems very reasonable for today's standard. It's little out of the way for me but I will definitely be back. read more

Not only do they have the BEST customer service I've ever received at a coffee shop but the energy and vibe of the place is super cool and they really make you feel welcomed!!! What an awesome hidden gem for a coffee break! My family and I had a lunch outing in the area and decided to stop by for some refreshing beverages afterward. I actually had known about Carbon Canyon Coffee prior and had always wanted to make a stop, but I couldn't find enough time during the week. Luckily, when we had that lunch outing, it was during a weekend and they were open! The coffee shop is located on top of a beautiful hillside and the inside is even more welcoming. The coffee is amazing and of high-quality, as well as their customer service.
