Went to the golf course today to putt and decided to go to the restaurant at the golf course. I felt like everything was priced well. The service was great very attentive with a good vibe. The food was pretty good. I liked my chicken blt and my gf's burrito was pretty tasty. We sat outside with the view of the 18th hole. We came here for breakfast and it was so delicious! Our waitress was so kind and attentive! We sat outside because it was a nice day! You have a nice view of the golf course! They have large tables so they can accommodate large parties. They have seating inside as well as a bar area. The bathrooms were clean. They also have a changing table for your little one. We usually love going to Derricks but today must have had a substitute cook. Our server Roxanne was awesome but most of our food was overcooked. I had ordered the snow crab eggs Benedict. The muffin was tough and dried out, the egg yolks like hard boiled and the hash brown over cooked and dry. The air condition was so low we had to put sweaters on. A friend & I decided to visit Derrick's for the 1st time today. I had heard how pleasant the ambiance was as well as the beautiful view of the course & the rolling hills. Our server was Caressa & she was pleasant, cheerful & helpful in our food selection. I had the Teriyaki Salmon Bowl & my friend had the Crispy Coconut Shrimp. We shared a slice of Lemon Meringue Pie. We asked them to cater our son's 40th birthday party. It was more than wonderful. We went with an Italian theme for our 70 guests. My son wanted cioppino and they were able to accommodate us. I got rave reviews from many, many of the guests. Chef Ron and Tony were so accommodating. My outside kitchen was still being worked on, so they had to start in the house and then moved outside to the outdoor kitchen. Marco and Danna were excellent in hosting and keeping things moving. Stacie and Krista manned the bar. They were so good with our guests and accommodating them. They helped with getting the champagne toast ready. I found this place randomly trying to find food with baby girl something healthy and Derricks place came up. So decided to try it, I'm so happy I did. It's on a golf course, there is enough parking too when you drive up you think you're going into someone's neighborhood but it's a golf course and beautiful restaurant inside. We walked in and got to pick our seats, we decided to sit outside and embrace the beautiful heat and scenery! This place is gorgeous, Martin was our server he was very friendly and helpful, took our order quickly and brought our food out fast. This view is breathtaking, it's sort of busy here too. People are playing golf and having lunch what a beautiful gem I found never knew it existed here. I would absolutely recommend this place to try not too bad in price either. I ordered the chicken lettuce cups $16 and baby girl ordered the pancakes with chocolate chips $12 + $2 extra for chocolate chips. For a drink I got a orange fanta and baby girl got a sprite. I ordered the cheese-filled crepes with cherries, new on the menu. The crepes were nicely done and not too sweet. The cheese filling had a nice texture and mild flavor which was perfect. The cherries tasted fresh, as did the whip cream. I would order it again and really liked it. The serving portion was good, too. I really had a good experience on a beautiful summer morning. I really enjoyed the waitress on this day! Not only was she inviting, she was so awesome about everything we ordered and wanted. She made suggestions and ensured we were takers the whole time. Derricks is the restaurant and bar located within Black Gold Golf Club. They are open at 6am daily so it is the perfect spot to stop by before you tee off for a breakfast burrito, coffee or in our case some screwdrivers. Service was fantastic from all of their staff. We came back after the 9th hole to stock up on beverages and we were given a bag with plenty of ice to keep our drinks cold. After the 18th hole we even came back for lunch! My colleague who is a club member with Black Gold mentions all of their food is consistently tasty during all of his visits. In our group, one colleague had the Ribeye Cheesesteak ($18.00) with a side substitute to a side salad ($2.99), another colleague had the Pastrami Sandwich ($17.00) with cheddar cheese (additional $1.00) and an upgrade to onion rings ($2.99), and my last colleague and I both had the Black Gold Burger ($15.00) where she had it with the side of regular fries and I had it with the side of sweet potato fries. That Black Gold Burger is definitely worthy of their name. It comes with a huge generous patty that is bigger than the buns. What a treat. There was also lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, aged cheddar and best of all applewood bacon, all in a tasty brioche bun. I ate my plate clean. Everything was great. I also had an Arnold Palmer ($4.00) and you know it is amazing service when they bring you a refill in a take out cup for the road. Props to the team here! Maybe a touch pricey but that's probably to be expected of a restaurant at a fancy golf club. I really enjoy that this place was convenient and tasty. I played golf at Black Gold in Yorba Linda, and needed something for bfast and after the round. Derricks (as in oil derrick), is the in-house restaurant at the course. For bfast, I had an egg & cheese burrito ($7). The menu only offers a chorizo, egg & cheese. Unfortunately, there was no discount for no chorizo. Regardless, the burrito was bland, despite me adding salsa, and it didn't have much cheese: 3 Stars. After the round, my friend and I shared some wangs ($7.99/6 wangs), and a sesame chicken wrap ($11.99 w/ fruit or fries). One of the wangs was cold inside which is just wrong. The others were very average: 2.5 Stars bc of the cold wang. Likewise, the wrap was lacking sesame flavor, or any flavor at all. Nonetheless, I doubt any of the other food would have been better: 3 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, its nice inside with big TVs. In addition, there is an outdoor patio: 4 Stars. Likewise the service is friendly and efficient: 4 Stars. I have eaten at a lot of restaurants at golf courses. Its interesting that the more divey the restaurant, the better the food (not unlike other restaurants). Derricks is no exception. I'd return, but I would simply manage my expectations. read more

My friend and I ordered Rib Eye Cheesesteaks this afternoon. It was the worst sandwich I've ever had and absolutely nothing like the description on the menu. The meat was dry and tasteless and the bread was dry inside. We ordered a slice of cheese cake and that was even horrible. They weren't that busy at the time we were there but the service was very slow. It's really too bad because it's a beautiful golf course with a wonderful view of the course and hills. This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Yorba Linda. Black Gold Restaurant has it all. Not only does it have a spectacular view, fantastic food but the servers are all efficient, happy and polite. We were well taken care of by Tony Frausto, the food and beverage manager as we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with our family and close friends. He made sure that our event was delightful, beautiful and professionally managed with very high standards of excellence. He is amazing. We will always cherish those beautiful memories made from that wonderful restaurant experience. We are so fortunate to have this amazing restaurant so close to our home.
