This is a no frills local pub but the two bartenders were friendly and the food and cocktails were great! I am not sure where they get their pink lemonade from but it is delicious (of course the Absolute citron made it taste better). The taco special on Sunday for $1.50 each was very good with a choice of ground beef, chicken or steak. The sour cream and rice or beans are a little extra. The BLT 1/3 burger with bacon, lettuce and tomato with added cheddar was fresh, delicious, and fantastic! The fries that cost extra very good too and freshly made. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area!

Walked in to Niko's Tavern 6-30-19 to order some food to go. I ordered and waited for my food at the bar and the Bartender was very friendly and asked me if I wanted a drink and I ordered 1 beer as I was sitting by myself when a gentleman who seemed to be mentally challenged asked to sit next to me which there were two open seats next to me and I said no problem. He then proceeded to ask me some questions and become very rude and I responded by telling him to leave me alone. A few minutes later my food came along with the bill and as I left I relieved I wanted more gravy for my meatloaf I ordered so I went back in the Tavern and asked the bartender if I could get some more gravy and she said no problem. That is when two customers tried to start a confrontation with my about how I tried to start a fight with someone who was mentally challenged and I replied he was being rude and all I wanted to do was order food and leave they then proceeded to both surround me and start to push me trying to get me into a fight it was almost a violent situation which transpired. The owner came over when he saw there was a problem and asked me what had happened I explained it to him and as I was talking to him one of the two men who confronted me earlier pushed me very hard and was about to throw a punch at me. I then told the owner he needs to govern his establishment better. What makes me disappointed is not that I was assaulted by two of the customers but the fact he did nothing to the two customers who assaulted me right in front of him. When you lay your hands on someone it is assault plan and simple! I used to like this place but after my most recent experience I can say I will never go back there ever again. Is it a place I would go back to? Probably not. I was disappointed considering it was downtown Marengo. The ambience was wilderness and forest themed the restaurant was clean but the women's bathroom was not.
