Getting my hair done is not always a positive experience for me.. I've bounced around salons, had stylists not really listen to me, gotten bad color, eyewatering keratin, burns on my scap, language barriers etc. With that being said, my experience at nine was flawless. Patty was friendly and cool -- not fake, gave me the subtle caramel hightlights I was looking for and didn't kill me with the keratin fumes either. Got a deal on part of the package but normal prices weren't insane. The space was clean, comfortable and not over the top gaudy like some other salons that have delusions of grandeur. Just a note: Call for pricing. The website could use an update as the keratin was priced less than what I was charged. Didn't mind, thought it sounded to low to be true anyway! read more

Wow never write reviews but this falls in line with some of the comments from others. I bought a Groupon and when I called up to make an appointment the man who answered asked when I wanted to come in. I said I'm flexible and as soon as I said I had a Groupon he told me they are booked until January!!! Well why ask me when I wanted to come in if you were not going to really service me for months! Mixed thoughts on Nine Salon. Firstly and most importantly the girl who did my hair (Patty) did a nice job. I did feel like she rushed a little. Maybe bc I was a groupon client?? I don't know. The salon itself is a no frills, basic salon that is not aesthetically pleasing at all. No extras. I wasn't offered anything such as a glass of water, coffee or even a magazine while my hair was processing. They dont use high end products which is what I'm used to. I saw drugstore products all over the salon. My shampoo & conditioning was very well done by a friendly outgoing young lady. I do see why some people would complain about the owner. He needs to work on his 'customer service.' He does come off as arrogant and unfriendly....I experienced that with him on the phone. I love this salon and I will be a regular!! I used Groupon for a single process color and cut, so this was my first trip to the Nine Salon. I spoke to the owner 3 times on the phone. I had to cancel and reschedule my appointment because my boss is a jerk. The owner is extremely patient, understanding and nice. I finally got there and Patti did my hair. She helped me pick out my color and she did an incredible job. I also explained to her that I was growing out a short cut that I had and she cut my hair exactly the way that I wanted it. I left the Nine Salon feeling like a new person because of Patti!! I did my hair myself at home and It actually came out great considering that I stink at blowing out my hair. I came across this salon from Groupon. There was a Groupon deal for Haircut, deep conditioning treatment, and a blowout. Mind you, I live about 25 minutes away from Bellmore; but wanted to give this place a try. I proceed to tell the man at the front desk how I have a Groupon for the haircut, treatment, and blowout. Out of that deal, I only wanted the treatment and the blowout. He told me I wouldn't be able to keep a credit for the hair cut, and I said that was fine. He then told me that I would have to pay EXTRA from what I paid on the Groupon because my hair was a bit "long". I wasn't going to argue so I agreed it was okay. You would think since I didn't want the haircut portion (which I paid for), I wouldn't have had to pay $5-$10 extra for a blow out; as a curtesy. He starts off by sitting me down & doing the "deep conditioning treatment".. I noticed the bottle they were using, I had purchased it from CVS before.. Didn't know you could use it for deep conditioning. (They do not use products of quality here). The guy put the product in my hair, wrapped it up, and put me underneath the heat. Told me to wait 25 minutes. After 15 minutes went by, my hair and head were starting to get EXTREMELY hot. I could even smell some type of burning smell. I told the man and he checked my hair, proceeding to tell me to wait another 10 minutes. Finally, I was done with the "treatment"... After washing my hair, we were finally ready to "style" and blow dry. I was going to an engagement dinner that night, I told him I wanted a soft curl blow out. Half way into my blow dry I notice he is having some problems with making my hair curl. He then explained to me that since he did the hair conditioning treatment to my hair, he wouldn't be able to make it the way I would like. Really? A true professional would have let me know it would be hard to curl my hair after this "treatment"; ONCE I REQUESTED THE STYLE. Ended up having to get a straight blow out, which I could have done better myself. During my blow out, I received a weird comment. My hair was a bit knotty from being up in the towel for so long after my wash. The guy said "oh youre a knotty (naughty) girl!" CRINGE. !!!!!!!!**** I walked out with my hair looking more damaged then I came in with. THE BOTTOMS OF MY HAIR WERE BURNT FROM THIS "CONDITIONING TREATMENT". Watch out!!!! Took 2 months to go back to normal. Moral of the story, I will never be returning to this salon. read more

I am never disappointed. Patti does my hair and she always takes her time, listening to my requests and adding her own professional suggestions. I love my color, highlights and cut. I also go regularly for blow outs and she tames my unruly curls. Everyone asks me who does your hair? in response to the other reviews: I have to add that sometimes Groupon brings a rush of new customers( their intention of course) but this can be overwhelming to any business and its staff at times. my advice: give them another try The staff is attentive and welcoming and the shop is always a pleasant experience. read more

I bought a groupon for here a couple months ago and decided to use it this past weekend before I went to an engagement party! I called before hand to make an appointment and told the man I had a groupon. Once I got to the salon, I got my hair washed then immediately got my hair blown out. Patty asked me if I wanted curls at the end or pin straight; I told her to do whatever she would think would look best! She ended up giving me curls and I got compliments all night. Did not honor Groupon and made me pay full price for color because the owner did the color. I told them I had a Groupon when I made the appointment for my daughter. Owner was not nice at all, even after knowing it had to be their error. We did not know he was the owner or that if he did the color, he would not accept the Groupon. Poor poor customer service. Great place for coloring or cut. Helen is wonderful at what she does. Very friendly personnel and clean. Great parking. Shampoo person is what makes you go back for more. Not happy at all. Should have read the reviews first. Not sure if this is because I had a Groupon, but my hair cut was less then 5 minutes!!! And it showed--not at all what I wanted. I was obviously unhappy and she attempted to do some more cutting, but it was ridiculous and too late to fix it. I do better job cutting my own hair. I am in search of a good place to cut my hair and purchased the Groupon to try this place out. Definitely not going back. The service I received wasn't even worth the discounted Groupon price. Had my hair cut done by the owner and all he did was complain to my mother that my hair was so long and didn't want to even blow dry my hair! Robin is amazing! I'm new to the Long Island area and I needed to find a salon that was near my house because it was going to be difficult to travel to the city to get my hair done. I found this salon on Yelp and despite some of the negative reviews I decided to give it a shot and Robin did not disappoint, I needed a root touch up and a haircut to ease the awkward stage since I'm growing out my pixie cut, she did a full consultation, made some suggestions and my hair is growing out perfect and the color was on point. Didn't listen to what I wanted to do with my hair , took her like 5 minutes to do my haircut, didn't even throw in layers like I wanted instead played around and left me with my old layers I already had. Not happy! Sent my niece here with a Groupon for color,conditioning and cut. The stylist provided all the services but then told my niece that she would have to pay for her to blowdry her hair!!Who goes to a salon for a haircut and then does not automatically have it blown dry by the stylist.. included. How else would you or the stylist know if there was any fine tuning needed to the haircut. Things like that often happen after the stylist finishes drying your hair. I think this is lowclass behavior on the part of the salon and it certainly is not the way to bring in new customers. My niece for one, will not go back again, My advice is BUYER BEWARE!! read more

Disappointed! Robin made a comment to another client that Groupon customer don't tip well so prefers to get regular clients. I was in the salon for 2 hrs, she did not color properly and forget to cut my hair. She serviced her non-Groupon customers and ignored my hair completely. Patty cut my hair and a total of maybe five minutes tops was spent on it. She was there alone with five other customers being dealt with at the same time going back and forth to all of us. She started cutting my hair right away and didn't make sure with me how much was being cut until after she had done it already. It was so short, but I wasn't mad until I got home to find that my hair was cut extremely unevenly with blatant long strands all around. She didn't check if my hair was even once and was clearly rushing through all of us when I would've happily made my appointment at a different time. If you were thinking about buying the Groupon for this salon and booking an appointment, do yourself a favor and don't. The workers were incredibly rude, which apparently is standard for them, especially when they're dealing with a Groupon client. Apparently they work under the assumption that Groupon clients don't tip well, which is ridiculously untrue, we just like good deals! Beyond their attitude, their skill and performance as hair stylists was incredibly disappointing. As part of the Groupon I got a deep conditioning, cut, and blow out. The hair cut was most definitely the quickest haircut I've ever gotten in my life (literally 3 minutes, a friend that was with me can attest to this). While one may think that's a "plus" or a positive, it's not, especially when you consider that I have very long (almost down to my belly button) and thick hair which typically requires much more time to cut properly. The stylist didn't work fast as a reflection of high skill, it was merely because he wanted to rush through it as quickly as possible. His carelessness showed in the final result - a cheap looking haircut. To make things even worse, the blow out was more like he just blow-dried my hair instead of actually styled it like a blow out. Overall, I would avoid this salon and opt instead for any other salons on Long Island, I wish someone told me the same! read more

I wish I could give this salon zero stars. I had an appointment at a salon in Massapequa for a blow out and they were running too late and I could not wait as I had a wedding to attend. Desperate for a quick blow out, even though I've never been to Nine salon, I called there anyway because it was close by.. the owner told me to come there and he assured that I would be taken right away. I walked in and of course was told to wait which I said I couldnt and the man walks out from the back and tells me to "relax you will be washed in 5 minutes" .. i told him my hair was already wet so he sat me and started brushing through my hair.. I told him i wanted a curly blow out and he looked at me like i had 10 heads.. first red flag.. then he asked where I went that was running late and I said a salon in Massapequa and he said "Oh, the chinese salon?" and I said Yes. I am sitting there visibly nervous and the man stops brushing through my hair and says "Im not doing this" and throws the brush in his drawer and has me sit in the next chair and tells a young girl to start doing my hair. So, again desperate for my hair to be done, I tell her I want a curly blow out and he interrupts me and waves his hand in my face and tells the girl to "do your twists.. do it how we do it.. we are not the chinese hair salon.. do your twists" I was beyond disgusted but kept my mouth shut... so he proceeded to continue saying that if I came to his salon they are going to do my hair THEIR way NOT the chinese way and that If i didnt like it to "go to the chinese factory" I politely asked the girl to take the clip out of my hair and I said "I am leaving" and he screams "yeah get out of here.. go to the chinese factory" so I told him to wait for the review that he gets and he said "okay good"... This is not an acceptable way to treat anyone let alone a potential customer. Not only was this man a low class, unprofessional person, he was racist too. I have no doubt he will be the downfall of his own salon. I have never been so disrespected before for wanting my hair a certain way. If you want a good experience, please go elsewhere. I went in because I wanted Ombre hair. I had the owner do it and I walked out looking like someone put a bowl on my head and then colored the bottom blonde. I got home and looked it over and it really looked terrible. I called up and then went back and the girls fixed it, or attempted to. The sides look great but the back still looks honorific. I think they are good stylists but that they cannot fix how badly he destroyed my hair. I now have to get the entire head colored BLONDE because he bleached my hair so bad that when the glaze wears off my hair will literally be half blonde half brown. I wish I NEVER EVER WENT HERE. My beautiful hair (virgin hair) is now RUINED. I was so afraid to color because of this and read all their reviews and trusted them and now I can't leave my house without a hat. STAY AWAY. DO NOT DO THEIR GROUPON. You get what you pay for. Cheap prices = bad bad bad hair. Don't use them ever. Not to mention the owner (who did my hair) was fighting with the girl at the desk, who is also a stylist. They were being so nasty in front of one another. Not happy - do not recommend! The woman who cut my hair for years stopped cutting hair and I have since been looking for a new hair stylist so I buy groupons to try places out. I bought a groupon for this place and will never go back. I walked in and the owner felt my hair and said "you have a lot of hair it will be $10 extra"...I went along with it because I bought the groupon already. I don't know if it was because I went in on a saturday and they were busy but everyone was all over the place, especially one of the girls who washed hair. She washed hair, then the owner told her to blow dry someones hair, wash someones hair, then she blew dry my hair for like 5 minutes until he came back. No one was friendly to me, or tried to encourage me to want to even come back there. When I was done I gave the owner my groupon and he took a picture of it and just walked away...no thank you for coming have a nice day, nothing.
