#51/2020 If you know me, you know I L O O O O O O O O O V E house plants. Love, love, love them. I don't know what it is about them. Have I officially gotten old! Probably yes. Have I spent ridiculously amounts of time looking at plants online and in-store? Yes. Have I spent even more ridiculously amounts of money on plants? Hell to the yes. COVID19 just hightened it for me. When I thought I was one of the few addicted to plants, turns out I'm not the only one! Just like I have been out here hustling for Lysol sprays, disinfectant wipes, and toilet paper, I've been hustling for plants, too. Beautiful, unique plants, mostly. So I heard Norfolk opened up this fancy-shmancy plant shop so ya girl had to go. I met one of my good friends out here and we spent an hour just looking and looking and looking. We didn't want to overlook anything, miss anything, etc etc. We wanted to make sure we canvassed the entire store and made wise decisions for our purchases. First of all, this place is GORGEOUS! The design is impeccable. Modern, farmhouse-y... Very Joanna Gaines inspired and probably approved, too. The first thing you're going to notice is the set up and seating right up front and center. The blue, lush, cozy looking couch and right next to it, an equally beautiful hanging chair. Macrame? I don't know; I didn't sit in it, not even for photo purposes. *Gasp* I couldn't stop looking at it though. What I love about this place is ummmm.... EVERYTHING. The plant selection, the pottery, the pots, the planters, the stands, the accessories, the delicious smelling candles! (yes, candles!), all the different types of workshops they offer, the gift ideas, just all of it. Also, with the crisis of a pandemic happening around us, I love that they require masks when shopping here! I saw hand sanitizer at the cash wrap as well. As always, practice social distancing and MASK UP! Cannot stress that enough! We had the pleasure of meeting Kelly today during our experience. She was quite helpful not only to us but to the other customers who came in as well. She was very polite, knowledgeable, and very personable. I liked her a lot! As far as parking goes, I guess you can park curbside even though I parked in the small lot across the street. I honestly really didn't pay attention. If you're interested in taking a class to learn new things, they have them listed on their website with pricing. Speaking of pricing, I feel price points were fair and on every spectrum for anyone's budget. I saw planters as cheap as $9 and then as high as $88. My haul today consisted of 2 $5 plants and 3 planters for $34. I really wanted to buy one of their delicious smelling Citrus candles but I decided to save that for another trip. Another reason to go back! If plants are your thing, I highly suggest coming to check out this place! They're brand new. I'm talking like, 4 weeks brand new-new! They have unique ideas for gifts such as hand cremes, gummie bears, a Flower Bar if you want to create a special bouquet, woven baskets, notebooks, misters, watering cans, jewelry etc... just a nice assortment of things!

Great small plant shop. They always provide excellent customer service. Some of their items are a bit pricey compared to other local plant shops. If you're in Norfolk check them out!!

MAKE THE NEW LEAF YOUR "FIRST CHOICE" FOR FLOWERS!!!…read more ... is what's requested in "About Our Company" -- and I must emphatically agree! They DO, as also stated, "go the extra mile to make your floral gift perfect." Shopping online from Maine, theirs was the 5th or 6th on-the-ground real, in-town (vs. online) floral shop I researched, following discovering them here, thanks to Yelp. Nobody offered what was shown on the typical FTD or Teleflora, it seemed. Only, I needed something special for my friend, who'd suddenly lost her husband. Arrangements offered by others weren't right for my artistic friend's elegantly designed and furnished home and tastes, nor the expression I'd hoped to achieve. THE NEW LEAF's, however, were phenomenal. I was blown away! Never had I seen such beautifully designed arrangements -- indeed, "beautiful floral designs" -- which is why I chose them. I selected "Soft Serenity" for the balanced trio of greens, lilac and whites, and balanced artful composition, too -- only to be sad seeing what'd arrived had substituted some yellow and other flowers. Uh-oh... Calling Dina with my disappointment, however, I was kindly offered either a refund or to send again. We worked closely to ensure that softly serene design I sought for comfort was replicated as closely as one can... I'm so glad I did! My friend was just over the moon with superlatives! While the first was nice, the second was absolutely Wonderful, she'd said. And just now on the phone she shared how the arrangement was simply Magnificent. "Wonderful" and "Magnificent" are pretty exceptional descriptors of their designs... All-in-all, a terrific value and experience. I've saved Dina's number for the next time I need something special for my friend in Virginia Beach.

At first visit, Sara and James were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. My vague wishes: "she likes low maintenance, maybe an orchid or an arrangement in the $75 range." She offered to create a fresh and unique arrangement in summer colors AND have an orchid dressed so I could choose; she even ok'd pickup outside of their normal hours. Turns out, I ended up needing it a day sooner...and they came through, calling to update me when needed. At pick-up, James said "I saw this peach double orchid and knew it was for your friend." That's personalized service at its finest!

My husband and I received an arrangement from my MIL for our anniversary in October. The flowers…read morewere so fresh and beautifully arranged! They also lasted much longer than many other arrangements I've received from some others in the past. The first few photos are from 10/4. The others are from 10/11 after some of the others had already opened up. It was a wonderful combination of the two and I appreciate the balance. The only 2 cons I know of with this experience: 1. My MIL purchased them online through a 3rd party site (she can't remember which) and apparently paid extra for them to be delivered before 1pm. They were delivered between 3 and 4 when we were gone. The delivery person did call us when we didn't answer the door and mentioned that ordering through that 3rd party site was sometimes problematic as in they didn't know of the early delivery option. Which leads me to... 2. If you look up Martin's Florist directly, there is no way to order online from them directly. The website doesn't even list bouquet options. Only the ability to ask for a quote and call to order. For someone like me who often shops for these things in the evening and wants a good idea of how a bouquet will look, this is off-putting. In fact, I found this out when I tried to order from them about a month later. Ultimately ended up ordering from another business online because of it. Overall, I do recommend this florist bc as far as flowers go I was very impressed.
