My husband and I recently bought a house with the knowledge that a portion of clay pipe had to be replaced. We called in various plumbing companies, all with good reviews, to give us bids. The first company barely looked at the inspection report, quoted us a low figure, and left after 5 minutes. The second company watched the inspection video and gave us a pretty high figure. When Richard came by, he spent nearly an hour looking at the report, asking questions, and crawling under the house to look around. He quoted us a price in the middle but was able to explain how he got to the figure. We felt like we were getting a solid, well researched bid from a knowledgable plumber, so went with Ninja Plumber. Unfortunately, we ran into more unforeseen problems when Rich and his crew started digging, but Rich was there to walk us through it and explain what was going on. He spent most of a Saturday helping us figure out the best solution, then spent the next two and a half days working extremely long hours to make sure the job was completed before the next contractor swooped in. Ninja Plumber is professional and honest. Never did we feel like we were being rushed to make decisions, nor did we ever feel like our decisions were uninformed since they made sure that we understood what was going on. I used their plumbing service about 6 months ago, but am writing a review now because I just had to hire another plumber to fix the SAME problem. At first, I thought the Ninja guy was doing a good job, although it did kind of bother me that he offered me a discount if I would write a good Yelp review. I would if he deserved it. However, the plumbers I hired today (Top Contender Drain Specialists) [got their info from Angie's List which hasn't let me down yet] showed me proof that Ninja's plumber didn't do what he said he did (clean out drain traps & stoppers) and that was one of the main reasons we were continuing to get a sewer type odor from the sinks. What really irked me was that about 2 weeks after Ninja's plumber came out, I got a follow up call from a friendly receptionist asking if the problem had been solved. When I said no, she seemed shocked and at a loss for words. She promised to talk to the manager and call me back... well, guess what, she NEVER called back! Big surprise. They charged an arm and a leg and didn't even complete all the work. I am so disappointed. read more

A tech came to my home, could not figure out how to remove my shower faucet, used a wrench directly on the chrome and severely scratched it. He left promising to return with more research. A week later I called and spoke to the owner, then the receptionist and finally left a voicemail (which was ignored). My shower remains unfixed weeks later and is now damaged as a result of their negligence. Maybe I'm an edge case but how did they get such high reviews with these business practices? read more

This review is solely based on Customer Service. I didn't actually use them in the end, as I had an emergency that needed immediate attention, but... The woman I spoke with on the phone (Sonia / Sonya)* was an absolute pleasure to deal with. But that's not the only reason I'm writing this review. The other reason is that this company clearly has it's sh*t together, & were willing to get a truck out to me within a few hours. Like I said, I unfortunately couldn't wait, but the next time I don't have an immediate emergency (water heater busted an hour before health inspection) I absolutely plan on using Ninja. Called for an emergency repair around 9:30 on a Saturday night. No one answered the phone but the voicemail directed me to text a number in an emergency. I did. When someone finally responded, 2 hours later, they were really short with me and clearly weren't interested in helping me at all. I then received a call from the number during which they barely responded and finally insisted that I called them. Needless to say, I won't be calling them again. I'd almost rather wait until regular business hours to fix my emergency leak... UPDATE: They did end up calling me back and coming to check out my apartment. The guy who came was really nice, but didn't have any tools and wasn't able to do anything other than look at the problem. I added one star because they did come and were very nice, but overall, not worth my time or money. read more

Exceptional work and customer service. It was 9pm on a Saturday night and we couldn't use either bathroom in our house. We called them frantically and Carlos showed up at our house in an hour. They were knowledgeable, thorough, and patient. They followed up the next morning and diagnosed the long-term issue with our pipes. No one had bothered before! Even though our landlord had a contract with a different vendor and we couldn't use Ninja Plumber -- Carlos even followed up later in the evening to make sure we were taken care of. You don't find a company with a 5 star rating off of 100 comments because of nice Yelper's... Ninja Plumber... IS.... LEGIT. The wife and I bought our home in 2012. When you buy a home, most likely you're under a home warranty for a year. Within that year I had a back up in our master bathroom (and I'm talking waste in our shower type of backup) twice before I called the warranty company to come out and see what's going on. $60 Dollar service charge was asked of me two different times by this plumber to tell me nothing was wrong, then end up busting our stucco down to install a clean out that (knowing now) didn't need installation. Fast forward a year and some change later and multiple gallons of Drain-o, my wife called me while I was away on a business trip and told me the backup was happening again. Of Course I told her to call a plumber since I wasn't home to deal with it. She called Ninja Plumber. I'm sure she called because they were offering the coupon, but whatever her reason for it, It all worked out. The tech tried to explain to me what he had done to fix the clog, but then told me there were roots in my pipe. He'd showed the video to my wife, and said sooner or later we would want to take care of that. He ALSO installed another clean out, because he said the one the warranty plumber installed was too small for the job it was supposed to do. As a consumer, you always feel like you're being up-sold, so the rest of the warning went in one ear out the other. A month later... I'm having similar issues. Here's the part where I gain tons a respect for this company... I happened to be headed out to a wedding rehearsal dinner at the time, and I hadn't heard back from the receptionist that day to make an appointment for what I assumed was something this company had done incorrectly. So I called again around 7 pm, and since there wasn't an answer machine, I just let the phone ring. It rang for a while and Mor picked up the phone. Not angry. Not annoyed... but highly professional. He tried to get someone out that night, to which I explained my dilemma that wouldn't allow that to happen. Unfortunately I missed the next day scheduled appointment, but he had someone out there Sunday Morning well before the appointment time. Richard showed up to the door, and worked his ass off for the next few hours. And even though he could've easily been just as upset at me as I was at missing the appointment the other day, that dude worked with a smile on his face and the intent of seriously resolving the issue. Turned out that clog turned into them needing the Hydro jet the line because he couldn't get any farther in the pipe with the rooter, since the pipe was congested with roots. $600... That's what a hydro jet cost from this company for this particular line. I did my research and again thinking I'm being up-sold... it's extremely comparable to what I saw online. Richard came out with another team member (Jimmy?) the next day and cleaned the line out, and ran a camera. Richard thought it was pretty important that I, as the owner and the decision maker of what would be the next step, saw what was going on in the pipe personally. I legitimately had close to 10 "shifts" in the pipe where the pipe had broken and roots were growing into the pipe. It was worse than I'd imagined... and hoped. Mor came out and gave me a few options that I won't bore you with, but he also gave the pro's an cons and talked me through his companies model and process. Small things like sending the same tech out if you have problems throughout the years so you have a personal relationship with your tech, and not charging you smaller amounts of multiple acts of labor until the ultimate problem is solved. He saw my face in anguish when he told me the price, and HE then really talked me down, and worked with me. And that's huge... My main line had to be replaced, and I could have either temporarily fixed it, and maybe hurt on the backside some years later, or permanently fix it and never have to worry about it again. My wife did some research that night and gave me the ok (...because realistically, who makes money choices in the home) and then I called Mor and chose the permanent fix the next morning. Mor had Richard and another team member come out as soon as I gave him the ok, and I shit you not... Richard did not leave the site till he was complete with the job and clean up sometime after 8 pm that night. Not to mention that $600 hydro-jet and the service fee got pro-rated into the final cost of the main line replacement. I highly... HIGHLY recommend Ninja Plumber, and hopefully I'll never have to test out this lifetime warranty that comes with the service provided. Big Ups to Richard! Super hard-worker. We'd had constant problems with our main line getting clogged with roots for years and knew at some point it would eventually fail. We had Ninja come out for an emergency cleaning and they ended up jetting the line, but recommended we install a liner to take care of the problem for good. The Ninja team came out a few times to measure the space and provide several solutions for the job that would have minimal impact on our property. They were very patient and explained everything. We had a LOT of questions and did a lot of additional research. Long story short, we ended up not doing the liner. A year goes by, eventually the pipe backs up again. A few other plumbers recommended this and that, so we called Ninja back up to see if they were still interested in the job. Yet again, the team at Ninja was very thorough and patient. We had several calls where we discussed all the options and worked out a plan. Eventually we did trenchless pipe replacement all the way to the city. After getting 3 additional quotes on the identical job, we ended up with Ninja and are glad we did. The price was competitive, and they were able to start the job almost immediately. Matthew was great during the job and kept us up to date on all the steps on what would be a several day job that included digging up the street to access the city pipe. The whole team was very friendly during the job and didn't mind me asking questions to fully understand their process. In the end, they filled it all back up and it looked like nothing had ever happened. They even came back a week later after a heavy rain to backfill some of the settled soil. The first quote I was given from the guys at Ninja Plumber was over $300 than every other plumber I got a quote from. However, when I told them the price was too high, they lowered it and I gave them my business. Overall they were extremely nice and were able to fix 85% of my plumbing problems. My toilet is still having issues flushing despite what was done to fix it, but if it becomes too bothersome they will come out and look at it again free of charge. My kitchen sink is working now but unfortunately the hose got a bit damaged when they were fixing it. It's not detrimental, but at some point this will need to be replaced. I would use Ninja plumber again because of the history I have working with them (and they are nice guys), but be wary for new clients that they may up-charge you at first. Do your research to make sure you're not getting ripped off :) read more

We had a great experience with Ninja Plumber. Our plumber, Richard Mariani, was extremely knowledgeable and kind. We had a small gas leak coming from an old pipe leading to our clothes dryer and Richard took care of it with ease. He even showed me a cool trick to finding gas leaks if I ever smell anything again! He also went under the house to make sure nothing was leaking under there and pointed out another area of concern. I'll have to admit, I was a little skeptical that a company called "Ninja" anything could be legit but I'm so glad I read all the positive reviews on these guys and decided to hire them. The Ninja that came out was awesome! Fixed our backed up disposal and showed us how to do it ourselves in the future. It actually ended up being a really easy fix, but that was okay because at the last minute I remembered we had another issue, a leaky pipe underneath our bathroom sink. Mentioned it to the ninja and he jumped right to it. He ended up doing some pretty labor intense work and basically replaced the entire pipe!!! I bought the $100 yelp deal which was good for $200 worth of service and used that to pay, which worked out since the total was a little north of $200. The only part that felt a little unpleasant, was when I mentioned that I wanted to use my Yelp deal, things got a little weird. Before I remembered the leaky sink, I was all set to use the yelp deal to pay for the disposal fix and the service charge, which didn't total up to $200. So the ninja had to call the office, which I then had to speak with a girl who wanted to inform me that I shouldn't use the yelp deal to pay and I should instead save it for next time. While I appreciated her advice, and let her know that I'd still like to use the yelp deal, she reiterated at least a couple more times the same message. A little annoying and the only reason for the 4 star review, but anyway it all worked in the end, and I'd call the ninjas again in the future! read more

Upstairs toilet kept getting clogged. They went on site, didn't do anything and said I needed to replace all the toilets. So.. even thought I only should have replaced one, they talked me into replacing two. + Called me back fast. + Mentioned I can buy my own toilet and get a refund from SoCal. - Told me their prices are "reasonable", when I found better deals from competitors. - Was told on the phone that I get a year warranty, but was told it was 3 months after the job. Gave me a year after I'd mentioned the discrepancy. - Made me change a perfectly good toilet. + Gave me an invoice. - Took them a week to come out and get the job done. - Charged $300 to install two toilets. Admitted that it's 1-1.5 hour job. That's...a lot per hour :/ + Didn't charge me for the initial visit when no work was done. + After a week the installed toilets work fine. read more

Mor and his team place a huge value on Customer Service. That for me, is the most important attribute when selecting a vendor. They came out fast and they were very knowledgeable. Watch out for the old bate-and-switch game! Yesterday I called this plumbing company using Yelp's high stars review numbers! I needed a shower valve changed due to fluctuating water temperature in our condo. The building manager who's aware of this issue with many other units had arranged a water shot-off for today to have a few units with the same issue make the valve change at the same time. He has given me the valve model #, and also recommended a plumbing company which they have used before. The problem to me was that he said they charge $500 labor to do that job. Being familiar with remodeling in general I know that price is too high for a 1.5 hour job... so I called around... Ciello the receptionist for Ninja, who appeared as nice and knowledgeable, listened to my full description of what was wrong and what needs to be changed. I even told her that we had changed just the cartridge before and it was just a temporary fix. She asked me to give her the valve model # and send her a picture of the shower area so she can give me a pretty accurate estimate... with some difficulty I arranged that. She thought with such short notice getting the part would be an issue.. so I told her that I can go get one from a wholesale plumbing supply house I had worked with before... After she received the valve model number and pictures she said she'll check with the manager and call me back with a quote. I told her that I had done remodeling before and also if they can give us a good price and do a clean job I would recommend them to the association board for other units. She called me back with a $175 quote. she texted me that quote also and mentioned if they have to break the wall it may be SLIGHTLY more... I replied if slightly means less than 50%, to fax their insurance cert. and schedule the job for today's water shot-off. I went and got that valve myself. Their plumber Jimmy shows up today and looks at the valve and says: Oh this is not a cartridge, it's the whole valve......... we have to break the wall and it'll be more... I told him that Ciello had said that it'll be SLIGHTLY more, so how much more? He said because he's already there he would do it for $700! I was furious but at the same time laughing at how they think everyone is stupid and they can take advantage of their situation, asked how long does the job take, he replied: less than 2 hours! This outfit seems like a plumber referral service... they do some SEO and some advertising on Yelp and other online marketing sites and share the revenues with the plumbers on their list.... they use this low tactic to get in and not leave the homeowners much choice but to pay their outrageous fees, which rival other over priced services such as legal and medical (at least they have many years of college education).. These tactics must be illegal or at least exposed, as I am doing here. read more

Called Ninja Plumber because of a clogged drain that wouldn't clear. The problem turned out to be complex and due to the unique and challenging configuration of the plumbing in my condominium unit, they had to return three times to complete the job - the first two times were technicians Richard and Edwin, and on the third time were technicians Richard and Martin. All the guys were great, though we primarily interacted with Richard. Richard did a great job of assessing the problem, coming up with various options and recommendations for us to pick from to come up with a solution for the problem(starting with the least intrusive means and working his way up, as needed), keeping us apprised of the situation, progress, timetable and costs involved. The crew was professional, hard-working, and also made sure that the work areas were clean. I would not hesitate to hire them again and highly recommend them for your plumbing needs. read more

There is an adage in the service industry -- "Under-Promise and Over-Deliver"... Ninja Plumber is an excellent example of an organization that does just that! Over the weekend, I noticed my toilet was taking a long time to empty, then it just blocked completely on Monday. I tried my usual tricks of using a plunger and a small snake but nothing worked. I called Ninja early Tuesday morning and was told a plumber would be there between 12:30pm and 1:30pm. Imagine my surprise when Ariel arrived at 12:10pm and apologized for being early! He and Oscar set to work, and he kept me up-to-date with every stage of what they were doing. Before long, it became apparent there was more to this problem than just a simple blockage. Ariel explained that it was most likely tree roots, and he would need to dig up the main sewer line in order to run a camera inside. He said it would likely take several days, but would definitely be fixed by Friday. He returned on Wednesday with a team of 5 guys who set to work, digging out the pipe. Again, they ran into a problem -- apparently, some previous plumber had re-routed the sewer pipe, leaving the old, disused one in place, which gave a false reading on Ariel's pipe detector. So they scanned again, this time locating the real pipe, and the digging started again. By this time, it was late Wednesday, and getting dark. Regardless, they set up lamps and continued working until at least 10pm. (I was not there to witness this since my wife and I had checked into a hotel in order to have working plumbing.) When I returned Thursday morning, Ariel showed me a section of sewer pipe with a tree root in it the size of my arm! No wonder it was blocked! Apparently, they fixed it all Wednesday night and were back on Thursday to tidy up. They did a great job filling in all the holes, restoring the lawn as best as they could, and hosing off everything to make it as clean as possible. All in all, an excellent outcome, and completed well in advance of Ariel's prediction -- greatly over-delivered! So, yes, I heartily recommend Ninja Plumber! read more

He quickly analyzed the cause of the problem, fixed it, and then suggested a recirculating fan for the tankless system that would alleviate another issue we had with the system.
