As I've become more and more fond of sushi, I'd have to say that this place is my favorite in Auburn for sushi. I'd stated that I liked a different local business in another Yelp review, but I've changed my thinking. The roll I got today was the Bubble Bubble-it was delicious and filling. Deep fried asparagus, avocado, cucumber with crabmeat on top and all the proper additions. The waitress was a doll, the sushi chef (owner) is super friendly, quick and always has ESPN on (win). I had some good recommendations for a Mango Roll and Lemon roll, and I'd like to get a little more adventurous and try other menu items one of these nights when I can enjoy some Saki ;) Right on, guys! Horrible service !! My family and I came in shortly after opening around 515. We did not get served our food till 730!! I took me over an hour just to get a sunomono salad. They were completely understaffed and inconsiderate with this issue. I watched people come in one after another and stand at the door completely pissed off because they were not getting attended to. They need to make change to their business soon or they won't have one ! I watched a family of four get up and leave after not being attended to for an hour. The sushi was soggy when I got to us as well and the fish was sliced way too big for my preference. Honestly, food is alright. The reason that made me want to give this place 1 star is the lack of hygiene and consideration for the pandemic. The employees making the sushi were not wearing masks at all, they were talking in front of the food, who knows if they accidentally transfer their spit in the sushi rolls. The guy who was making the sushi sneezed 3 times and used his hands to cover his mouth and I'm not a very confrontational person but I couldn't help but ask the waitress why they weren't masks. She said it was optional, and I totally get it, you don't have to if you don't want to but for hygiene and consideration of your customers, this was pretty unsanitary. In response to the one star review from "Mark R.", I was also there and I can tell you there wasn't an open seat in the house all night. The mother of this party of four was extremely obnoxious, disrespectful and loud. She made racially charged remarks towards the staff and she made her own daughter run to the bathroom crying after cussing out the waiter and her family. As the family begged her to stop freaking out she began loudly berating her own family, claiming that their behavior was unacceptable (but her outlandish behavior was just fine apparently). Please do not take this review at face value, the servers did everything they could to make up for the longer than usual wait time. Even as the server was doing all he could to solve the problem, she continued to embarrass him and make nasty comments. We waited for a long time that people came after us were all eating then I ask the lady if they might have forgotten our order , she pointed at the other guy said "he's there " then I realized he is our server and that's why the lady was so annoyed when we ask for water etc... My entire family loves this restaurant. My elderly mother never ate Japanese food before we took her to Ninja Sushi. While she's not an adventurous eater she likes cooked food with familiar names and her fork. She can get what she's comfortable with. The menu is extensive. I can't say I've seen a menu this large anywhere. I've never had anything I didn't like. Staff is very efficient, very accommodating and very friendly. Extremely pleasant and responsive throughout the entire meal. My recommendation for Ninja is this: pare down your roll menu. No one, at any time, needs 4 or 5 pages of sushi roll choices. My husband and I were at the Auburn Friday Night Car Show and looking for a place to eat when we found Ninja Sushi. We were seated quickly, looked over the menu and chose the BBQ Albacore Tuna and Fried Calamari for our appetizers along with two rolls that appealed to us. The calamari came out to the table fairly quickly, hot and tender. The BBQ tuna was one of the best we had ever had, melted in your mouth. We were already feeling pretty satisfied when the rolls came out. The King Kong Roll was one of the largest rolls we had ever had, deep fried hot and delicious. We didn't realize how filling this would all be, so ended up bringing some of the King Kong roll along with the entire Tiger Roll home for a whole other meal! We were informed later that there was only one chef working that night and they were also short staffed. That being said, the quality and the quantity of everything did not suffer. Haven't been here in years but so glad I decided to come back and give it another shot! It was absolutely, deliciously, mouth watering, fantastic & amazing! Luckily we went in around 7pm and there was no wait. We were quickly greeted and seated too. Fresh fresh can make or break a sushi place along with the amount of fish they actually give you in your rolls and this place definitely met those standards with top-notch for us that evening. As the fish tasted fresh and there was no shortage of it in every roll. I always say if there's a lot of crab in all their rules bank giving you much fish go to another place but there is not the problem here. Yes the rolls may be slightly higher priced then if driving down the hill but at least the rolls were large, fresh and flavorful packed in every bite! Our service was very friendly and tentative through out our meal too! Great place for a date night and/or kid friendly with tv's and even had the sports game on! Wifey and I went in on a Friday night. The place was hoppin but had plenty of friendly wait staff. We ordered the Dynamite and Spice appetizers which were both tasty. We shared two rolls and two large hot saki and were stuffed. The rolls were great. The prices were a little higher than most places in Roseville and Rocklin, but who wants to deal with the traffic and crowds. We'll definitely be going back. read more
