So I posted a review with my displeasure with this place, and the owner sent me an insulting compliment. "Whahaha you come with 2 person then they eat everything, only you didn't eat 2 peace , I saw your video to , you have to learn how to order your food okay , then talk bad , you have to tell the employees less Sause that's it but you never give the restaurant 5 star not even 3 star , that's y your life is poor sorry about u." - owner of Ninja sushi I'd like to first point out that I did not post any videos, I did not eat all my sushi or dine with 2 other people, and that I have given 3, 4, and 5 star reviews on yelp for restaurants and other businesses. I noticed another customer receiving similar treatment when complaining about their experience. Rather than address any real issues, the owner seems to blame customers for their poor food. The owners response, basically, was that it was my fault for not asking the waitress to remove a sauce I've never tasted before. Not sure how I was supposed to preemptively make that decision? If ordering my food the way it comes on the menu is wrong, then you need to change the menu. If your upset with your poor reviews, try improving instead of insulting people who should be your patrons. Never going back, and I will go out of my way to make sure anyone I know, never goes there either. read more

Haven't been here in years but so glad I decided to come back and give it another shot! It was absolutely, deliciously, mouth watering, fantastic & amazing! Luckily we went in around 7pm and there was no wait. We were quickly greeted and seated too. Fresh fresh can make or break a sushi place along with the amount of fish they actually give you in your rolls and this place definitely met those standards with top-notch for us that evening. As the fish tasted fresh and there was no shortage of it in every roll. I always say if there's a lot of crab in all their rules bank giving you much fish go to another place but there is not the problem here. Yes the rolls may be slightly higher priced then if driving down the hill but at least the rolls were large, fresh and flavorful packed in every bite! Our service was very friendly and tentative through out our meal too! Great place for a date night and/or kid friendly with tv's and even had the sports game on! Glad I gave here another shot as it's def my go to in Auburn now!!! read more

After reading the reviews my friend and I decided to have lunch at Ninja Sushi. There's only one other sushi place in Auburn and it's not that great. The first thing I noticed was the sushi chef dipping his hand (only the hand he used to handle the fish) in some receptacle of water and then wiping it dry with a rag. He continued this throughout his preparation of each dish. Instead of washing both hands using a kitchen sink like I see sushi chefs do. The water is no longer clean after you dip your hand the first time. The plate my sushi roll was served on looked as though it hadn't been washed. There was dried food around the outer rim and underneath the plate. The soy sauce containers had drippings on them and we're stuck to the counter. The Thai Chicken dish my friend ordered was plated very sloppy. Sauce running down the side of the bowl. Come on! The lunch special of 2 rolls and 3 pieces of Nigiri had some white creamy sauce squirted on top of one of the rolls that was very off putting if you know what I mean. And the other crunchy roll, the crunch had a burnt taste. The sake vase was also dirty. Even the check holder had food fingerprints on it. When I pointed out the dirty plate, the hostess just said 'Oh, Ok'. The 3 pieces of Nigiri I had wasn't very fresh either. The case with the fish was in disarray. I'm a very discriminating foodie. An excellent cook myself who hardly eats out because of the very things I write here. I've always known Japanese culture to be very clean. This place was not. I do not recommend this restaurant for the very reasons stated in this review. read more

Ordered takeout and was told 20 minutes. Waited 5-10 minutes then made the 15 minute drive. I don't think they even started my order until I arrived because i paid, then waited another 15 minutes before it was ready. The flavors were bland compared to any other sushi I've had including homemade. Hubs ordered the teriyaki roll, that was a mistake: dry and flavorless. My role was huge but the flavor was just OK. I'd rather have less volume and higher-quality. Baffled at how this place could have received the best in Auburn award other than for its central location. Wifey and I went in on a Friday night. The place was hoppin but had plenty of friendly wait staff. We ordered the Dynamite and Spice appetizers which were both tasty. We shared two rolls and two large hot saki and were stuffed. The rolls were great. The prices were a little higher than most places in Roseville and Rocklin, but who wants to deal with the traffic and crowds. We'll definitely be going back. read more

I ordered food over the phone and I was told a 40min wait. I arrived 55min later to ge my food. I was told they hadn't even started it yet. Apparently a group showed up and they decided to make them a priority over my order that was called in before they even arrived. I was told it would be another 40min for them to make my order. So, once again a that point she decided to serve them first before making my order. HORRIBLE customer service, we will NOT go back. In addition it smelled fishy, not a good sign. read more

We were driving through on our way to Tahoe and stopped in here on a whim. With zero expectations we sat down to the best sushi I've had in a long time! It tasted really fresh, the rice was so plump and flavorful. We ordered the dragon roll and the fancy roll. The fancy was both mine and my husbands favorite. Many places use a thin piece of fish that you barely taste over the other flavors. Not Ninja Sushi! Each slice of the roll had a generous bite of salmon on it. The dragon roll was very good too. We got gyoza for my 4 year old and he ate every bite of them. The only con here was the fancy rolls were a bit too big to be a single bite, so fell apart after the first bite. I have been to Auburn a few times but it has changed and there are more places to eat now. We were driving back from Tahoe and had not eaten all day. I thought of the pizza and sandwich place in Auburn but never thought I would find sushi in the downtown section but as we drove down the main street and there it was, right beside an Italian eatery. The sushi is good and the rolls are large. We ordered 4 dishes between the two of us and left very full. Words to the wise, if you sit at the bar, order your sushi straight from the chef but ask the waitress for your beer or other beverage. The place was packed with locals and families but the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. I will definitely be going here again the next time I am out that far on Hwy 80. I highly recommend the Baked Salmon and the Dragon roll!! Next time I will test out the Garlic Tuna roll. read more

Really good sushi. Some rolls are better than others. I would avoid the sexy mango one because there is a strange sauce and the flavors do not meld well. The cherry blossom is a lovely simple roll that is quite good, the Fancy roll was good as well b/c of the variety of sauces it comes with. Service was very good, friendly staff, the place was clean and nice. The sushi was fantastic. Lots of options for everyone - the traditional sushi eater/and the non traditional. Pricing was good for a sushi place too. We will be returning. My only suggestions would be they need larger tables- 2 of us at the table plus our 3 plates of sushi rolls got very crowded. Yum, we enjoyed the Golden Scallop, Spider man and Tiger rolls with a small side salad. It was more than plenty for two people. I love scallop and I have to say this may be the best roll I've ever had! Stopped here on the way out of town to Lake Tahoe and didn't want a heavy meal - this hit the spot! Had lunch here yesterday with my Dad and brother. The server was wonderful, she recognized my Dad (apparently he eats there a lot) and bent over backward trying make sure that he was ordering the correct Lobster roll. Dad loves his lobster roll, he didn't even realize that he was ordering a custom roll and the chef that usually prepares it happened to be out that day. It got figured out and was really not a big deal to my Dad but it was nice to receive that kind of service. I ordered the Double Dragon and the Unagi was delicious. I have no idea what my brother ordered but he loved it. We also got the tempura veggies and shrimp, edamame and sunimono salad. Everything arrived promptly, except the salad which is when the chef at the front bar seemed to whip out some attitude toward the server for no good reason. Most of the patrons seemed to be businessman, a lot of men. We left the restaurant at about 12:30 and still no sign of any Placer High kids. read more

Went for lunch - my wife and I each had a larger Bento Box - it included miso soup, tempura, salad, goyza, four pieces of California rolls, white rice, and teriyaki chicken for about $13 each. We each got our fill, and had leftovers to take home. Yum! The service was nice, the food good, and the prices were reasonable. We had no real reason to complain.
