Reviewing after trying this spot under new ownership! The owner was very kind. She spoke with myself and my mom, asking about how the food was after we had finished. The servers were friendly but a bit slow in regard to requests unfortunately. The restaurant was clean but a bit dark during our visit. As for the food, the sushi rolls were good but nothing special. My mom unfortunately didn't enjoy the sukiyaki and found the flavor wasn't quite as strong as others she has tried. Overall, I would it here again but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way for it. Especially since I don't live in the Gilroy area. If you haven't tried it yet, I would definitely give it a chance!

Came in Friday night place was hopping, got a seat at the sushi bar. They have the Freshest sashimi melts in your moth like butter, the octopus is so fresh. Each fish is so fresh you can taste all the different flavors. Fresh wasabi, plating was beautiful and generous portions. Waiting for my molten lava cake dessert now !!

This wonderful Sushi and Japanese restaurant is the best in the entire South Bay! It has been there for over 20 years! Super fresh top-grade fish only, daily specials, the best appetizers, excellent very cold Beers on tap, many specialty drinks, and delicious sakes! Very reasonable prices too.... Big screen HD TVs everywhere.

We went here for lunch to check out changes with the new owners. A good variety menu and enjoyed the food. Very nice lady that took our order. The floor smells of bleach which hits you hard when you walk in. It wasn't appetizing but I guess it's a good sign they cleaned.

Teriyaki Chicken Bowl (boiled flavorless chicken)

Ninja sushi was the only place in Gilroy to get real Japanese food, I raised my Daughter on their food . I worked late so i decided to pick something up to take home , now I can't believe what I got when i ordered a simple Teriyaki Chicken Bowl .The chicken was either cooked in a microwave or boiled with NO seasoning at all NONE! the rice wasn't any better it was flavorless and just a thin layer under the terrible tasting chicken with some sesame seeds scattered on top I'm so disappointed , I hear it's under new ownership so I guess this is what to expect here, if the rice bowl is bad I can't imagine eating raw fish here . If i could give it less than 1 star that would be too much!

I had an incredible dining experience at Ninja Sushi. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and beautifully designed, setting the perfect mood for a great meal. The sushi was exceptional--fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. I highly recommend trying the spicy sashimi salad. it was a perfect balance of flavors! If you're a sushi lover (or even new to sushi), this is the place to go. I'll definitely be coming back soon! Meet the new owner Rita :)

1st time here Honestly great food and amazing service. Nice big place for everyone. Servers are very helpful and friendly. Steve is amazing person. Definitely will be back and tell friends to check out this amazing sushi place.

    Salmon Skin Roll
    Josette H.

I will be not returning here after over 10 plus years. They must have changed chefs because the preparation is way different than how they used to do it 2-3 years ago. They would dress the Salmon Skin roll with sprouts in it and just a sliver of avocado, but now it's packed with avocado (if I wanted a California roll, would have just ordered that), and barely any wasabi and ginger. Such a disappointment when quality and presentation go down the drain.

    Doesn't get better than this!

You'll find a little snobbery from the staff from time to time, but the rolls are delicious. Best sushi in Gilroy.. but again... in Gilroy.

Unlike the other seafood boil places the food came in a ceramic serving tray. We ordered the house sauce with medium spice with shrimp, king crab and clams. The spice level was perfect and so was the sauce. Very pleased with this service, portions, pricing and the flavors. Definitely coming back to taste several other items on the menu. I would have loved for them to play some music rather than the silence. I wasn't too bothered. Service was good, but they were down a server so a bit slow. First red flag were the chips, which were stale, not crunchy or crispy. I could fold the chips in half. Also ordered a Diet Coke and a Modelo. Diet Coke was brought out in a can with no glass or ice, no glass for the beer either. At home, maybe, but would expect more at a restaurant. Ordered the chicken cheese quesadilla, Carne Asada super burrito, and a regular Carne Asada burrito. The chicken in the cheese quesadilla was a bit hard, reminiscent of leftover chicken that has been sitting for a while. Regular burrito was good, plenty of meat, beans and rice. Super burrito was mostly filled with rice and beans, not much meat. The waitress was very nice, however the food left much to be desired. Unfortunately, search for it go to Mexican restaurant in Gilroy continues.

There's a sign that says "Wait to be seated", but no one came out to seat us and a group of people walked past us to go inside, were sat right away. A girl who sat us ended up being our server but took a very long time for her to come back out to even take our drink orders. I had to ask the guy bringing water and tortilla chips who our server was. Once our server arrived she was very nice and answered our menu questions. I ordered the the spicy Mamacita and my friend ordered the pina colada. Both drinks looked cool but mine was very sweet, not really spicy at all and was tiny for $15. I think I mostly paid for the presentation part...flower, popsicle, etc. We both ordered the 3 taco trio and the food came out before long. I had a mahi mahi, carne asada and a taco macho. Again, the food wasn't that great: rice and beans had an off flavor, octopus was chewy in the taco macho, and the mahi was a bit fishy. We took half our food to go and checked out. All in all I would not come back unless it was out of convenience due to the location. The food and drinks have a nice presentation, but the taste of everything wasn't there for me. If you want an aguachile that's not too spicy, the aguachile de tamarindo is a solid choice, while the mango habanero has a nice kick. The tacos are consistently good. I'd stay away from the salmon--it was overcooked--and the pasta was too greasy. The calamari bites are on the small side but have a satisfying crunch. Services was excellent.
