Love me a good sushi place! Our group of four came on a Saturday for lunch and were seated right away. I really liked the decor and vibe of Goku and thought they did a lovely job since it used to be a Mountain Mikes pizza. Service was friendly and fast which was great since we were all hungry. The menu is huge with lots of options including a lunch menu. I ordered the Tonkatsu lunch plate which included a green salad, miso soup, rice and 4 California rolls. The pork cutlet was ok, it was a little dry but the sauce it came with helped a lot, plenty for leftovers as well. There California rolls were delicious . Surprisingly easy seating for dinner on Valentines Day. Place was fairly full, but they turned the tables pretty quickly. Service was pretty fast and friendly. We were the first ones here for lunch time. We got seated quickly and looked over the menu for a few minutes. The menu was vast and had plenty of options for any type of craving. We ended ordering the 3 Roll Lunch special, which is one of the best deals in town. Highly recommend that for a lunch spot. The only thing that I was a little disappointed about was the rice sushi being a little loosely packed, so a few of the rolls would break down while trying to pick them up, but that didn't affect the taste at all! When my mom and I want to eat sushi within Morgan Hill, we always go here. Today, I brought my best friend and mom to eat here. It's my friend's first time trying this place especially she keeps hearing from me about their Salmon Kama. The Salmon Kama never disappoints me. I like how the sauce is in its small container rather than poured down on the fish. The salmon is well cooked. In addition to salmon Kama, salmon belly and goku special roll is our usual orders here. I'm glad that my friend also enjoyed the salmon belly as I did. Goku Special Roll and Climax Roll tastes the same to me. The hint of difference would be goku special roll has some eel and salmon on top while the climax roll doesn't. It's still a good sushi especially for someone who doesn't really like eel and raw fish as it only has imitation crab and shrimp tempura. Our server was great as she made sure that we're doing good and if we need anything. The guy who was in the cashier also helps us out with a smile. I guess we're always lucky that this place is only average noise level every time we're here (lunch on a weekend) but I can see that it can be a little different on other times or days of the week. read more

Doordashed some sushi. The sushi was smaller than I expected. I still got full of them but if I'm comparing these rolls to other places, this one is definitely the smallest size rolls I've seen. First time at Goku Sushi in Morgan Hill California This place was clean and welcoming. We came for a late lunch. We decided on the lunch special, 3 long rolls with miso soup. The sushi arrived quickly. The rolls were tight and visually appealing. We're not seasoned sushi eaters but we're extremely happy with choosing the "usual." California rolls, tempura shrimp roll and spicy tuna rolls. Everything was delicious. Served with wasabi and ginger. The waitress was very polite and answered our questions. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable. Overall a nice experience. Only downside, the restaurant is located in a shopping mall with shared parking. Took a minute to find a car parking spot. We were craving Japanese food so we went to try this sushi spot! They have fairly good lunch specials for a lower price. I got the chicken katsu lunch plate and the meat was a bit dry but good portion. We also got the tonkotsu ramen and it was super salty. They never really checked on us so we had to flag down our server but they were able to replace the ramen with a new batch and it was better. My favorite was the goku sushi rolls so that didn't disappoint. The restaurant is in a big plaza so there's plenty of parking outside. It used to be a pizza place with an arcade and is now a sushi restaurant so it has plenty of seating inside and spacious. read more

First of all, we come here a lot. So we left EXTREMELY dissatisfied with the service. After a long day at work the last thing you want is a bitter face because you want to sit at the booth and the server has to wipe the table down. Then a delay in taking the order. We waited after others were taken from others who arrived after us. The we were asked "are you ready for something" lol. Another waitress dropped off our bill receipt with not a word. After a long trip out in the wilderness, a craving for sushi for dinner seemed appropriate.. A quick search led us to Goku which was on the way back home.. Walking in, the theme of the restaurant leaned heavily on the name.. plenty of Goku figurines from DragonBall spread throughout the restaurant... Felt a little cheesy to be honest.. Didn't fit in with the rest of the decor and the environment. The food was pretty good for what it is.. a bit expensive, to be honest.. though the cuts of fish were generous.. so at least you still get a bit of value out of it. We came here for an early dinner. We got the salmon kama to share and it was a generous portion. It looks like 2 kamas! We even asked and she was like it's one portion. It was delicious. We got a bunch of rolls to share. But my main dish was their chirashi bowl. It was a pretty good chirashi bowl. Wish they put some roe on it but I felt the fish wasn't fake. Especially the tuna. Not, yet...Any we got situated and spent some time trying to figure out how much to order. Asked her about sushi rolls portion, and she walked over to the next table and pointed at what they were eating. Slightly weird but No One seemed bothered by anything. We picked a few items, 2+special rolls, Miso, Unagi Hand Rolled and a salmon app. Food was pretty darn good. So I'd stretch and give food a 4, 3 overall because service, setting, environment counts -- unless I was just buying food off a food truck. Right. Delicious food! The salmon tasted very fresh and was beautifully plated. It paired well with the golden radish, black fish eggs, and jalapenos. However the jalapenos gave quite a punch! So if you order this get ready for something spicy. The ambiance is just okay. To be honest it took me awhile to come here because the curb appeal could use a little help. Please put in larger pieces of mango so we can get a bit of the flavor mix. * Caterpillar roll was somehow bland. It had a ton of rice and the rice (unlike some other reviews claiming the rice fell apart) was super compact, resulting in even more rice per piece! Seems like we got rice that had not sugar or vinegar mix in it. The mixed plate was perfect though as shown in the photo. Me and my girlfriend were around the area and saw this on Yelp! Immediately, we had to check it out due to this restaurant being fairly new. We went an hour before it was suppose to close and were instantly greeted. The ambiance was welcoming and there were a lot of nice decorations around. You can see the chefs making your food at the side which was cool. We ordered: Fried Soft shell crab: This was probably one of my favorite items we ordered because the crab had so much flavor and they had this spicy pickled stuff on top that was sooo good. 11/10 The Orange Blossom: the orange blossom was good and the fish tasted fresh to us. 8/10 Lunch Combo pick 2 option with spicy salmon and spicy scallop: this was such a good lunch deal for those who like to keep it simple. The miso soup was a little bland but the rolls were flavorful and good. Unfortunately, the last time we were there, we were forgotten about and as an attempt to rectify the situation, they brought us edamame. Choices for quality Sushi and/or Japanese food in Morgan Hill are unfortuately slim. Nara Sushi sucks. Hanami Sushi sucks. Sushi Confidential is good but their prices are out of line. So when the Mountain Mike's closed and became Goku Sushi we hoped it would be good. We decided to order food to go from this restaurant on a rainy Friday night. I called to place the order and was told that they were packed and the food would take about 25 minutes. We only live a couple of miles away so I waited about 15 minutes and drove down. The food was just about ready so I only had to wait about 5 minutes. The restaurant was indeed packed. It looked like every table was full. Got the food and went home. The wife ordered the salmon teriyaki plate and I had the beef teriyaki plate. I would have preferred chicken but like most Japanese restaurants they only serve dark meat chicken. We also got the Warrior Roll, (Crab meat, Avocado, Salmon and Lemon). The wife said her Salmon was overcooked. The beef teriyaki was just like just about every other beef teriyaki dish I've ever had, (tough and fatty). In other words, not very good. Of the 3 dishes we had, the sushi was the best. The wife said she would come back for the Sushi but not the teriyaki. So unfortunately Japanese food choices in Morgan Hill are still not very good. read more

We came right at opening at 5pm, which is a good idea because on a Friday night, it was already packed and line at the door by 5:30pm! We ordered a bunch of rolls to share and the server was able to come by and place the order fairly quickly. The rolls came out fast and they came few times to check on the table. My favorite rolls are dragon rolls, Morgan hill rolls, & the goku special roll. The dragon roll is always my go-to at any sushi restaurant! We tried to order extra rolls after but we were told that the roll would take a while due to other tables placing their order, so we decided to cancel. My husband and I were so excited to finally try this spot. We've tried all the sushi spots in Morgan Hill and this is our favorite one by far. The sashimi was fresh and delicious. We especially enjoyed the otoro sashimi as well as the chirashi don. The rice in the chirashi was well seasoned unlike the other sushi joints in town. Without good rice, it's hard to enjoy sushi.
