If you're a sushi snob, this place may not be for you. Stick with goku in Morgan hill, ten in Gilroy, rantei in Santa Clara or omeej in Santa Clara. We really did want to like this place, but missed some marks. - they're using the wrong seaweed sheet. It's way to thin and some of the rolls were falling apart - sushi rice was overcooked and mushy - the sashimi was not the worst but the way they sliced it was not clean cut - we were not greeted when we walked in, almost to the point we felt like just walking out - found one strand of hair in the roll, we felt so bad for the older ladies, we just couldn't bare to tell them - found a piece of imitation crab wrapper in the California roll The two older ladies behind the sushi counter were sweet and I saw they were working hard. One even had a neck brace and the other lady could barely walk. The server was younger and felt like he wasn't really there. He just took our order and brought out couple dishes. Never came back to check on us and he kind of disappeared until I went up to the counter for Togo box and the ladies called for him. I wish he could've helped out the ladies more. I don't know what their situation is, but there are certain standards that needs to be met if you want to have a successful business and I feel they haven't got there yet. Wish them the very best of luck, success and health! Oh the best thing we ordered was the fried squid. Delicious! It was light and crispy.

We were looking for a good local sushi spot and found Pearl Sushi Lovers. They have some cool decorations and Japanese norem hangings. This place was a solid 4 stars. Our server was friendly. We only ordered sushi and sashimi dishes: California, Philly, and Salmon Skin rolls, along with the Platinum Sashimi platter, which came with soup, salad, and rice. We also had the Hamachi Carpaccio. Everything was pretty much what we expected. The fish was fresh and good texture, with nice sized pieces. Only a couple of pieces of tuna had a bit of gristle. The sushi chefs were two older ladies. They took a little extra time to make our order, but they came out to say hello and asked if we liked the food. Very nice and friendly. I'd come back again to try other dishes.

Honestly, 10/10 would highly recommend, my new favorite sushi spot in the area! I've had a lot of sushi in Gilroy, Morgan Hill, and SJ and I highly recommend trying this place out, the food tasted fresh, the server was so sweet, and the ambiance was really cool. At first, I was a little skeptical to try this place as it seemed like a random small sushi restaurant on the side of a main road. But, don't let that fool you. Upon walking inside the restaurant, it had this nice calming presence, where they really captivated the Japanese culture. I wish I took photo of the decor because it looked phenomenal. Hubby and I came on a Sunday evening and were greeted shortly after coming in, where the server allowed us to choose our seat. A few minutes passed and the server came up to us to give us the menu and let us know that there will be quite a wait for the food as there was a queue (he was the only server that day and it looked like an older lady was the only one making the rolls). It also seemed busy as many tables were full. We were more than happy to wait and reassured the server that we were going to be okay waiting as we weren't in a rush. After a few minutes, he came back to take our order, gave us our drinks, and about half an hour later, we received our food, and let me just tell you it is 100% worth the wait. The rice was so nicely made, the sauces blended well together and the fish tasted nice and fresh. We got the Big Kahuna and the Santa Cruz Roll and they were huge! Hubby and I barely finished the food because of how full we got, and we usually eat at least 3-4 rolls when we eat sushi. The server came back to check on us throughout our stay and apologize for the wait each time, which, we actually enjoyed waiting, it helped build an appetite and gave us time to have a nice little date night. We also appreciate the transparency of the wait time as I know it can be overwhelming with just a few people working. Highly recommend to try this place, it's great in flavor, serving size, and service! Again, please keep in mind that it is a family owned restaurant and there are only a few family members running the restaurant, so patience is key :) Fortunately, we weren't in any rush and we had a good time. The wait is definitely worth the food and we will definitely be back soon to eat again.

8/10 Food was good overall and the service was kind and very fast! The sashimi was fresh and tasty, though some of the cuts felt a little uneven and I've definitely had fresher elsewhere. Still, it was enjoyable and satisfying. The Tekka Maki rolls were well-rolled and held together nicely, though again, the freshness wasn't quite at the top tier (as you can see in the picture). That said, they were still flavorful and enjoyable. The service really stood out super friendly, attentive, and quick, which made the dining experience smooth and pleasant. The ambiance was also great, with lots of greenery and thoughtful decorations that gave the space a warm and inviting feel.

I was craving some sushi and found this place. The decor in here is very cute. I thought this place was small, but there are plenty of seating. I had ordered ahead and the gentleman was nice. I ordered the crazy monkey (can't remember the exact name) but it was amazing. Flavor and everything was all there. I have to come back the next time I'm in town.

Once again, I kick myself for not returning sooner. Pearl Sushi Lovers is a class act in every way. Have you ever ordered sushi and had more fish than rice? Well...at Prlearl Sushi, its going to happen plate after plate. The freshest, cleanest flavors with all the right accompanying flavors. Amazing sushi. Amazing food all around! Service is friendly, polite, and prompt. Even the traditional pot of green tea is special. Plus, we get to see waving kitties in boats! Just love this place.

Went for a light dinner & was pleasantly surprised. The place is way nicer inside than you would expect from a strip mall. The 3 people saw working there were all so nice to us. We had the eagle ridge roll, the big kahuna roll, salmon nigiri, tea & a lychee sake dragon fruit cocktail. Everything was so fresh. & yummy. We will definitely go back!

I got the spicy salmon hand roll, miso soup, and yellowtail carpaccio...everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. The staff member who helped me was patient and really kind. Best fresh sushi in Gilroy, hands down. Food: I ordered the Starter sushi set which had 6 piece chefs choice with either a California Roll or Spicy Tuna Roll. I chose the spicy tuna roll which had a nice kick. It also came with miso soup and a side salad. All was very tasty. My husband ordered the rainbow roll and California roll which he said was big for a roll and fresh. Service: They were very kind and welcoming. Food took a little longer to come out, I'm assuming because there isn't a lot of staff but it wouldn't stop me from returning. Restaurant was remodeled so it is very cute and clean inside. Only thing I would recommend since I have a baby is a changing table in restrooms. We will be back!

Pearl sushi has quickly become my new favorite sushi spot in town! The beautifully decorated interior was all done meticulously by Kevin! The service is incredibly genuine and detailed-- nothing in here lacks effort! Kevin and his mother run an amazing food experience with their delicious sushi options and more! I had the pleasure of ordering the Tonkatsu Curry, Pink Lady roll, and the Santa Cruz roll. The curry sauce is homemade by Kevin and compliments the tonkatsu pork cutlet and rice! The rolls were beautifully hand rolled by his mother, the presentation and taste shows the detailed effort going into each and every order. I ca wait for the next visit!!

Fantastic! Came here after reading the reviews and it didn't disappoint. The price points were absolutely fair for the portion sizes and the staff was very friendly. We also ordered the mixed tempura which was AMAZING it came out hot and fresh + the spicy garlic edamame. Thank you so much!

I have been wanting to try this sushi spot in the Gilroy area that had highly regarded reviews. We were in the mood for sushi and so we decided to finally check them out. We arrived on an early Sunday evening for dinner. Pearl Sushi Lovers is located in a nice newer plaza off 10th Street in Gilroy. The new Crunch Fitness Gym and Smart & Final is located in the same shopping plaza. Plenty of parking is available on the large parking lot. The sushi restaurant has nice vibrant modern cultural decor. There are charming displays of Maneki-Nekos and a kimono dress on the walls. Plenty of tables and booths are available for dine in. The owners are 2 lovely sisters who are also the only chefs behind the sushi bar. The restaurant was clean and wholesome. We ordered salmon nigiri, baked scallop rolls, salmon avocado hand roll, crazy monkey roll, sunrise roll, spicy salmon roll and a glass of Chardonnay. It was quite a wait for the sushi but it was worth it. Everything was authentic and delicious. My favorite rolls were the baked scallop roll and crazy monkey roll. Baked sushi rolls and deep fried rolls are always so flavorful and scrumptious especially these. Sunrise roll was unique and bold with flavors. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Pearl Sushi Lovers. Our server which was one of the owner's son, was nice and accommodating. All the sushi we had was high quality. I thought some of the names of the sushi were unique and fun as well. The price point was very fair especially when compared to other sushi restaurants in the area like Sushi Ninja. We will return to try other food items on the menu. read more

Went here for dinner on a Sunday evening. This place is only open from 5pm-9pm Wednesday to Sunday. When you walk into the restaurant you are greeted with authentic Japanese decor and vibe. The 2 older ladies are the sushi chefs. There is a bit of a wait for the food but the rolls were so delicious it was worth the wait. Our server checked on us multiple times and refilled our water which is important. Our son ordered a hand roll for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. He ordered a spicy salmon hand roll. We also ordered the Crazy Monkey which had a nice touch of tempura flakes on top. The other rolls we tried were also very yummy. Sunrise, Baked Scallops & Spicy Salmon Roll. Will Definitely be coming back to try other rolls. read more

What can I say about this place. It's awesome to get 2 elderly ladies probably in their 70s or 80s making sushi. Service may be a bit slow because they only have one other person manning the place. But if you're patient, the food is good. The sashimi and rolls are very fresh. read more

Only staffed 1 chef on a Friday night. Wait time for food was 45 minutes+. Kind of ridiculous thought to only have 1 person making rolls on a weekend night. Wait time 1/5. The restaurant was nice packed at this time by the way. Service was 3/5. To be honest this place just seemed understaffed. We had the table next to us get up and leave because food and service was taking so long. Food was alright, rice in the rolls were soggy but presentation was nice. Overall I would not come back. read more

This family owned business is lovely! The staff here treat you like family and the food is absolutely delicious. THE BEST SUSHI RESTAURANT IN GILROY! AND MORGAN HILL!!! seriously, I love the place! The ambiance is so nice. We talked to the nice server and he said they decorated that restaurant themselves. It's so beautiful and clean inside. I ordered the dragon roll- 10/10 amazing! And the lion king - 10/10 so yummy. Salmon cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the who's your daddy roll and man it looked so good. I've ordered to-go from here before and the food was so fresh, boxed perfectly and just as delicious. They also added a new drink menu and when I tell you my jaw dropped...I mean that is the fanciest and tastiest lemonade I've ever had. I will absolutely be back to try the rest of the drinks. I do wish they would have some tempura for appetizers. This family who runs the business is so very sweet. There's two sweet lady's who make the food and one very nice gentleman that serves, makes the drinks, and runs the front and they are so attentive and kind. I really love everything about this place. We went in about an hour before closing and the sushi place is absolutely adorable. It's very clean and the ambiance is great. The service was attentive and friendly but the food was even better. I would recommend the lion king, caterpillar, Eagle ridge, and Fantasy. For how late we went into the restaurant the salmon was very fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this sushi place and I will be putting this on my list to come back time and time again. I can't wait to try everything else on the menu! read more

HIDDEN GEM- My family of 7 had dinner here last night. The food was amazing. We ate everything! I was not sure if the woman who assisted us was the owner but she knows her stuff. We ordered the Wonderful sushi roll, two sake nigiri, steamed gyoza, Garlic roll, Star roll, large hazy IPA beer and a glass of Chardonnay. Everything was tasty but nothing special. The Wonderful was flavorful and I enjoyed the little scallops. The gyoza was steamed which made it taste more succulent. Star roll was scrumptious with every bite. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Ninja Sushi. The staff were nice and accommodating. There was a local favorite vibe going on. My one huge gripe though I had was the price point particularly the bento boxes and the special rolls were more pricier than I expected. He liked to say "Hell yah" so if you are a local and frequent here, you know who it is. He forgot our straws for our soda til at the end and handed it later with his hand. No paper on the straws. Chose not to use it. Overall, super disappointed at this place. It's a fail on me for choosing it. Place is small - maybe about 15 seats so be wary if you decide to heed my warning .

Dessert had fresh fruit, canned fruit, jello and snack cakes/cookies that are standard at other Chinese buffets. The soft serve ice cream weren't creamy kinda slight on the icy side. I like to pair it with the sugar donut. As a buffet lover, this place gets a pass. Will continue to come if I'm in the area.

The steamed gyoza was yummy especially the dipping sauce which was tangy. My favorite sushi is Salmon Nigiri so I always try it whenever I go to a new sushi restaurant. The salmon pieces were the thickest I have ever seen. It tasted clean & fresh, very delicious. I will definitely be back just for the salmon nigiri. I ordered the special Lion King Roll which they were able to accommodate my request to switch from baked salmon to baked scallops. Super yummy! I highly recommend it. Will be coming back for sure with the family.

They are welcoming and pleasant. I'm glad this place is closer to us. We live in Morgan Hill and I do not approve of any of the pho places there for their lack of flavor. I will definitely be coming back here.

My husband doesn't like goat which means more for ME!!! We were asked how spicy we wanted our food. Hubby ordered his chicken tikka Masala non spicy. I ordered mine medium but could have went spicier and still enjoyed my food. The lady said next time tell me you want a little kick and I'll take care of you. She made us feel right at home, as if we'd been coming there for years. I love that. I'm the son of the owner, my mom, and I worked there for a couple of weeks during my summer vacation.Also I'm not from Gilroy so my experiences during that 2 weeks are quite fresh. Service: So I was suppose to be the waiter, I had no experience whatsoever in being a waiter and I guess I did alright. It would have been better if the restaurant upped it's service and that's what I kept telling my mom- "We need more waiters!". But, she doesn't get it yet. So my main point is that the service might be below average than other resturants. Food: I would have to say that the entrees and appetizers are average. Although, we hired a new chef just and supposedly he is quite the pro, so the food and presentation will be much more adoring. Decor: It's completely remodeled. Everything looks nice and cozy. Although, there are still some patch ups that need to be finished. Knowing mom, it will take some time. The sushi boats are neat especially the sushi boat bar idea. For those who have never been to a sushi boat place like myself, then you would be astonished. Hopefully those will be up and running soon. Sushi: Excellent! This is the strong point of the restaurant. The sushi chef, Scott, is absolutely amazing. He's probably the best sushi chef ever and he makes the best sushi I ever had. Anyways, the sushi is very fresh, even the raw fish. Places other than here that have such fresh fish would be at a more higher class restuarant. The rolls are quite big compared to other sushi restuarants, especially the california rolls. (The day I came back to Southern california I went to a couple of sushi restaurants that i havent gone to and their rolls were tiny) So, the sushi is great- Try it! you wont be disappointed. Final Thoughts: Great place especially being one of the few sushi restuarants in gilroy. I really wish they can upgrade their service. And, I'm coming back again to eat more sushi! 14 years later, and we're still fans of Pearly Sushi Lovers! The food is fresh and delicious! The menu has expanded with their most recent re-opening with Kevin--the son and nephew--of the twins, Susan and Jenny. He's as a major player in all aspects of the restaurant. We're there about once a week--for our favorites and to try new things. Service is better since Kevin came on board. There's two or three people working these days--Kevin, his Mom Susan, and someone else helping out, as Jenny is away due to health reasons. So, when they're busy, there's going to be a wait. And, I think that's true of any restaurant. They let you know when you come in so that expectations are set and, from my experience, they're met. I love their drink menu. It was created with care and is quite vast. I'm always trying new things. The atmosphere is friendly, casual, and great! We prefer the booths in the back. Thanks, PSL! We'll be back next week. This is hard to write. Went here last Friday for another experience of good sushi. Well, yeah, it wasn't that good at all. I ordered three specialty rolls of very different types. Two were salty and overloaded with orange sauce (even though the picture and description did not hint at any) and I had to ask for the pickled ginger...after I could finally flag down a server ten minutes into my sushi. The service was completely lacking. I made my iced tea last the entire meal luckily. They were out of a lot of things, too. What made the experience all the more depressing was the constant arguing between the two older lady servers and the younger sushi chef. There is only one chef and he is doing everything...and these ladies are yelling at him to do it faster..in front of everyone. It was not a fun experience and I probably won't be back. I had a great time at Pearl Sushi Lovers for dinner! It's a fairly small restaurant, so seating is limited. The staff are so friendly and the owner is a sweet lady who kept checking on us in between our meal. We ordered about 20 rolls for our table and all were delicious. My faves were the Big Kahuna and House Special. Highly recommend this restaurant for delicious sushi and excellent service!! read more

Didnt like it here as soon we walked in all the lights were off and looks like the owners were sleeping in the back and as soon we walked in they ran up and turned on the lights. I asked for water with lemon and she brings me warm bottle water.WTF THEN we ordered some sushi and it didnt taste fresh.
