Poker Sunday-Thursday nights (never played), but it's crowded, especially on Thursdays and Sundays. Karaoke on Friday and Saturday, super packed as the evening wears on. Other theme based games on Saturdays before karaoke. People complaining about it being a smoking bar is WILD. As someone who has never smoked anything, it's a decision you make when you walk in. It's posted on the door before you walk in. There are times they are so busy on Friday and Saturday that they have a bar back whose job is grunt work. Family was visiting and we chose to go here for the outdoor seating and casual atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful. We ordered drinks at the bar inside first, and then decided to go outside, order more drinks and food. We ordered the pull pork nachos, wings, and a pizza for the 4 of us. The food was delicious! Great temperature and ample amount to fill us up, plus we took leftovers. The amount of pork on the nachos was amazing! Loved it! Definitely recommend! Oh for god's sake, just go to Nippers. Yeah, they let you smoke in there which is gross, but the drinks are strong and service is quick and friendly. They have a Megatouch Game Console, which is fun to play either solo or especially with friends while answering trivia questions about tired 80's sitcoms. Additionally, there is an expensive fancy pinball machine (come on guys, NO ONE charges a dollar to play a pinball game.) Their $6 dinner salad is unbeatable, and even though I haven't tried it, the other cuisine seems excellent and far superior to what you would normally find at a bar. It is the poster child for dive bar here in Carmel and a welcome change from those snooty places you see all over town. read more

First impression was not great as I was enveloped by smoke. I didn't think smoking was even allowed in bars anymore. But whatever, I was there with friends for karaoke, so I figured I'd go with the flow and have a good time. I went up to the bar and was ignored for a full 8 minutes. (Yes, I kept track of the time.) The bartender wasn't even busy with other people. She was putting glasses way, putting bottles up on the shelf, seemed to be finding any random tasks to avoid serving me. And I was not watching karaoke; I was watching her the whole time, trying to make eye contact. She eventually did look up at me briefly and then continued with what she was doing. If for some reason tidying up the bar is more urgent than serving a customer, that's fine, but at least acknowledge me and say you'll get back to me in a minute. Instead she turned her back and a guy on the other side of the bar waved in her face and asked for a drink, which she made and then continued serving people on the other side of the bar. Then she left the bar area, and I thought, okay, she's busy or stressed; now that she's coming back, she'll get to me. Nope. She looked at me and turned back around to the other side of the bar. Maybe this just isn't my kind of bar if it's the type of place where I have to rudely get up in the bartender's face to get a drink. But I also work in the service industry and think that servers should serve people without having to be accosted by them. And I do love me a good dive bar (see my review prior to this one), but this is not a good one. I really wanted to at least see my 3 friends do karaoke, but after being there for 50 minutes, they still didn't get to the third singer in our group. Yet there was time for the guy leading karaoke to get up and sing himself. If there are customers waiting to sing who have already signed up, then why is a staff member busting in and singing in front of the customers? Service was terrible, and the smell was terrible. I wanted to eat food that didn't taste like cigarettes, and I also wanted a drink, so I left early since clearly neither of those things were going to happen here. read more

The wings are genuinely some of the best in town. If you go ask for the wings Ricky Bobby style, and you have to get the Blambo sauce. If it's not too busy the service is great, everyone is extremely nice and you can get food and drinks fast. I've been going to Nippers for over 5 years, it is smoky but absolutely my favorite place to be, the bar tenders are the best I've met and their food is legit super yummy, I have brought multiple friends and family members and turned them into regular visitors as well, it's the bar where everyone cares enough to learn your name. My crew loves karaoke but won't be going back... sister and I were actually cut off by the DJ in midsong... here's the story: Husband and I scoped the place out weeks in advance of our group's big weekend visit to Carmel. Cheap prices on food and drink. Big servings of food we didn't want to finish. Nice staff, good DJ. Good mixed-age crowd not into the karaoke that night. Even the Mayor of Valparaiso was there with his entourage gearing up for some karaoke. So, we gave it a try the next week. Remember: great drink prices. Dragged the crew in sober. Needed drinks to endure a different DJ. A DJ who thought he was Slim Shady and rapped after every patron's turn, sometimes twice. He hogged the stage and led his 2 girl groupies with him to wiggle and swoon at his moves. Tragic. So Sis and I... did I mention she's a community theater actress who specializes in musicals? Sis and I get on stage singing spot-on... with altered lyrics and a dance routine. Nothing skanky. Just, well, making fun of the lyrics ol' Slim Wannabe had been singing. The regulars got the joke and were getting a good laugh. But Slim didn't like that and actually shut off the music into the third verse. The crowd was great, one guy chastised the DJ, but damage was done.... Nothing fancy, just dive bar without the dregs. If you are looking for a smoking bar this is it in Carmel. Ordered the $12 ribeye steak dinner with 2 sides. This is a thinner cut of steak, but quite good. Baked potato and mushrooms on the side complimented my meal. It is a fun place with lots of games and regulars. I will be back. read more

It's a dive for sure. Very smoky. Karaoke night is hilarious for people watching, and you can get a bucket of beer for $12. If you're a SERIOUS karaoke person, you might want to skip this place---the DJ when I was there played videos in between every song performed, and sometimes sang himself. Holy dive dive dive bar. A couple of summers ago, I got massively smashed here and haven't been back. However, I decided to give it a shot recently when Erich and I just wanted to have a beer and appetizer in Carmel. First off - it is still f-ing smokey. YUCK. Smoke makes everything super dirty. You don't realize how NICE having a nonsmoking bar community is until you step into this hole. Once you get through the haze, order a beer and get your food, it's not like you can leave and go somewhere b/c you really are covered in smoke residue. The crowd is a little rundown (no real surprise) but that's not a huge deal. Everyone seemed nice enough, especially the woman who gave a man a little "treat" in the back room while we were having our meal. Speaking of food, I had the BLT which was fine. This establishment is for smokers. The moment I walked in the door I was hit in the face by the strong stench of cigarette smoke. Even though the menu looked appetizing, I left and will not return. How primitive these days to have a restaurant and bar in such a smoke-filled environment. It's cool that there is a dive bar in Carmel. It's a nice change of pace to the usual eat out. The pizza was okay, but what could be expected of a dive! I also kind of like the fact that it's still smoking, especially in the winter time when I'm feeling lazy. Went there this last Monday night, for my 30 something b'day with a co-worker and his wife. HAD A BLAST! Beer, beer, pool, jager shot, beer, beer, jager bomb. 1 star for customer service our pool team comes in for first time and the manager gives us a hard time cause one of us wants to smoke a cigar it not a smoke free bar BTW says you can smoke on sign. After the night went on our team Captain tries to give feedback to the person in a friendly manner and the manager says nothing and walks away like practically saying fuck you.
