This is a vegan review. I appreciated the menu that had a section especially for vegetarian/vegan options which is a huge plus for me. Our group ordered Channa Masala, Vegetable Curry, Vegetable Rogan Josh, Bharta Makhni and the Aloo Gobhi which we all shared. They ran out of Vegetable Curry so we had to get something else. The quality and taste of the food was great, plus the restaurant was beautiful, a welcome sight for those who are traveling and need a place to stop by for good food and a place to enjoy. Portions were okay, entrees were a little pricey. We ordered the aloo gobi, mango lassi, and garlic naan -- each dish was flavorful and fresh. The service was excellent and very attentive, and the restaurant itself was spotless. A special highlight was when our server (who was visiting from the Denver location for the day) surprised us with a complimentary slice of Key lime pie -- such a thoughtful touch, and it was fantastic! Totally did not expect such delicious Indian food to be right around the corner from our Royal Gorge Railroad adventure. My partner and I walked over after our train ride to explore Canon City, impressed by the food and beverage selection on the menu that accommodates all sorts of dietary restrictions. Customer service was fast and friendly. I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh, which is how I calibrate Indian restaurants I'm trying for the first time. Got a side of Garlic Cheese Naan because I was really craving something cheesy. My partner got Saag Paneer. Everything tasted incredible - some of the best Indian food I've had in Colorado. My mom and I went here a few years ago and stumbled across Nirvana Culinary Paradise, a lovely restaurant serving Indian cuisine located in the heart of Cañon City, Colorado. The food here is absolutely amazing and even that's an understatement. After taking my first spoonful of savory curry consisting of a variety of exquisite flavors, I instantly felt a wave of relief wash over me. For the first time in my life, I felt alive. I wasn't simply existing at this point, but I was experiencing happiness in its truest form. Imagine being abandoned by your tour group in the wilderness all because you left a trail of snacks behind the group to almost get mauled by a very hungry grizzly bear. Now you're lost, afraid, and the coldest you've ever been. The next few days, you see the first car since the tour group left you in the boonies to die. A sweet, elderly woman with grandma vibes rolls down her window and offers you a lift. You are alone and have no other options or place to go, so you accept her offer. First experience was amazing!! We were there to celebrate my mom's birthday & the stunning atmosphere added to the experience. I really loved the mixture of modern & rustic decor with the original brick. We were seated immediately & provided menus. My go to dishes are always Chicken Tikka Masala, medium spice & Muttar Paneer also medium. We ordered garlic & plain naan as well. My mom opted for Chicken Tikka Masala, mild. The portion was slightly less than my normal location in the Springs, but it reasonably priced taking that into account. Everything tasted quite delightful. The flavors were all forefront & the spice was good. I would have preferred the naan had been slightly less crisp. I enjoy the crispy "bottom", but like a slightly puffier top. This restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, and also a long bar if you are dining alone or just want to make it more casual. The service was good, too. But the food was mediocre at best, though. We tried all kinds different dishes. My mom had a lamb dish that was overly salty and the lamb was chewy. She sent it back. My lentil soup didn't have much flavor. The chicken biryani was eh. The waiter said it was gluten-free, but I'm not sure it was. I was bloated after the meal. The one thing I did like was the mint sauce that came with the papadom. In fact, I asked for seconds of the mint sauce. I wouldn't see much reason to come back, unless I was just getting a drink at the bar. We were not impressed with their Indian food. read more

I was surprised to find Indian food in Canon city, downtown colorado, On our trip to the Royal Gorge bridge. The best Indian food with an authentic taste. One of the best things about nirvana is that they list each item as gluten/dairy free or vegan so that they can accommodate your dietary needs. That there are so many gluten-free options. They offered a hot rating of 1-5, with five being the most desirable. I tried 5, and it was a perfect balance. I went there at lunchtime without reservation; we were almost seated quickly. I order their  Kofta curry, Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, lamb chops, and chicken biryani. All the dishes have their authentic taste and flavor. I liked their lamb chop, perfectly cooked with green chill paste and masalas. Service was outstanding, and I loved the atmosphere. All in all a phenomenal experience, I would suggest this place, and we will be back next time I m in town. read more

I visited here after spending the afternoon in Canon City last weekend. I remember seeing this place advertised on a billboard during a recent trip to Royal Bridge Gorge & Park. I was very pleased with my visit to Nirvana Culinary Paradise. For my appetizer I ordered the Himalayan Lamb Sautee. It was delicious! I loved that it didn't come with rice as I was expecting it with my main entree. It was spiced very well, to my liking. When ordering your food, the wait staff will ask how spicy you want it, on a scale of 1-5 (5 being the hottest). I chose 5 for the appetizer and my main entree. They were on point! Also, I liked that I didn't need to wait long to be seated at a table. Someone from the bar area greeted me and sat me at the bar. They have a nice beautiful wooden bar here. It's long too with plenty of seating! They were busy when I dined here last weekend. I was impressed that staff was still attentive and friendly. I believe the owner or manager took my order. I loved how personable he was. He made sure to get my order right and didn't make me feel rushed. I was very impressed with the customer service here! For my entree, I ordered Butter Chicken and it was delicious! It's one of the best Butter Chicken entrees I've ever had. I would definitely order it again here, when in Canon City next time. The rice was also fragrant and fresh. My only drawback for food was the Garlic Naan. It didn't taste that fresh. The bread was a little hard. I usually love it hot, nice and soft, from the oven. It's okay though! Everything else was delicious! I passed on dessert here. I noticed they feature a favorite Indian dessert of mine, Gulab Jamun. I love the old building this place is in. Love those skylights. The place has a nice 'historic feel' to it. Restrooms are okay clean as well. I hope that this place continues to do business and be successful. This place has been a mainstay in our diets since it has opened and it has never let us down. Nirvana continues to be the best and freshest. You can always guarantee a walking tour to be playing above the bar and it's fun to try to guess the city. The cocktail menus is creative and the enter items are substantial. On our way back to Colorado Springs from a day-trip to Canon City on vacation, we drove through town to see what restaurants the city had to offer. There were several but my husband and I settled on Nirvana - he's a big lover Indian food. Personally, I was pleased overall with the food/service/etc. My husband didn't really care for his dish. The food and flavors were a little different than at our local Indian restaurant - especially his beloved tandoori chicken. I ordered Seafood Curry (scallop, shrimp & salmon fish cooked with curry leaves and cumin in curry sauce) and overall, it was ok. Again, different flavors. I was really impressed, however, when they brought out our toddler's meal. Hand cut fries, housemade ketchup, and really yummy broccoli. There is nothing that bugs me more than boxed mac n cheese for the kids menu. read more

My wife and I stopped by for lunch and split the Chicken Kabobs and Garlic Nan. We eat a lot of Indian food and this was right up there with some of our favorite. Service was good and friendly. The outside is a little deceiving as it looked small from the outside but inside is pretty expansive and nicely decorated. The prices are a little high but you're getting quality food and great atmosphere. We will be back soon! read more

This place was good, it's hard because back in our town we have an amazing Indian restaurant RED FORT, this didn't match it but it was delicious. We started with the veggie momos which were ok, but that sauce was amazing! We had the butter chicken and saag paneer, the butter chicken had a layer of fat floating on top, not a bad thing but just too much. Saag was good, the best was their naan, it was hot, thin and crispy, oh so good for dipping in the gravy. The rice was so yummy as well. This was a random spot to eat at because we wanted change it up and try something new, as we don't normally spend much time in Canon City. This place was recommended on Google and for wings by the restaurant next door. The service was excellent, staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was presented well and tasted good but it was not excellent. The biggest reason for this was that most of the meats were overcooked and turned rubbery. Chicken wings and thighs are supposed to be moist and these were dry, and the lamb was tough and chewy. Not everything was bad, the dumplings and the veggies were really good along with the 2 cubes of chicken breast that came with the viggies. For the cost, I expected better. read more

Outstanding meal. Look, if you just look at the outside of the building and make your decision based on that, you are missing out. The exterior is plain and a bit off-putting, but like an oyster, the pearl is on the inside. The inside space is large, open, and beautiful. We had chicken momo, chicken tikka masala, channa masala, a mixed grill of chicken, shrimp, and salmon, and of course lots of naan. It was all excellent and we all ate too much. I've eaten Indian food since 1975 and pretty much know what I like and what I don't. After driving Skyline Drive, we chanced upon Nirvana in Canon City and couldn't have been happier. Spacious, well appointed, thoughtful, helpful, and pleasant staff and, most importantly, great food. A few unusual offerings ... momo's, that I'd only had a a Tibetan restaurant ...and they were delicious. We ordered a bunch of different apps, all served hot, tasty, and with an assortment of different chutneys. When I saw the high reviews, I felt I had to check this place out when we were driving thru on our way to go camping. I love Indian food (well, all food really ), and this place does not disappoint. We ordered the Chicken Momo, Garlic Naan, Lamb Korma, and Chicken Saag. They have a scale for heat 1-5, and I feel like they didn't downplay the heat on the dish we wanted spicier! There was no loss of flavor with added heat, though, which is a bonus. We had our small Chihuahua with us, so we sat outside and our waiter brought a small bowl out for him to drink water from without us even asking. Very much appreciated! This spot is a must stop of you're also passing through, and I would be a regular here if I lived in Canon City!
