I always enjoy going to this theater. The service was great, they were pleasant attentive and good came out quickly. Went to see the super Mario movie with the kiddos. They had the kids meal (pizza and fries), popcorn and lemonade. No complaints from them. I had the fried chicken sandwich with a shade salad and a lychee martini. The sandwich flavors were good, but the texture but a bit fatty, salad was great, the martini was tiny and ok in flavor, I've had way better. The place is run down, and not in a chic way I think they are going for. The seats are really close together and don't recline back. You have to share a table with whoever is next to you which can be cramped for space. The theater also smelled like mildew mixed with cleaning products. Have been going here for years to see everything from major blockbusters to little-known indie films as well as throwback movies from my childhood. Always easy to get well-priced tickets online and there are tons of food and drink options to partake of during your showing. There is also a bar inside (for which a ticket is unnecessary) that plays movies and hosts trivia and other events. Nitehawk Cinema is hands down one of my favorite places to watch movies, especially when I'm in the mood for smaller or independent films. It's such a refreshing alternative than going to the big commercial theaters. The ambiance is a lot less chaotic, and the overall vibe feels more personal and intentional. One of the biggest pros for me is the in-theater service. Having food and drinks brought right to your seat is such a treat, and the staff does an impressive job of being as discreet as possible during the movie. You can tell they really try not to distract the audience, which I really appreciate. If I had to point out a con, it's the seating. It's definitely not as plush or comfortable as the big chain theaters like AMC. But in a way, it adds to Nitehawk's charm as more of a family owned business. However, if I'm going in for a three-hour major film, I definitely prefer a comfier setup. I've been here watching a big Marvel film in the past, and the vibe doesn't match for me personally. Overall though, Nitehawk remains one of my go-to theaters in all of NYC. It's perfect for intimate screenings, and nights where I want a cozier, less crowded movie experience. read more

Nitehawk is a 3 level Cinema Cafe on the Corner of Prospect Park W & 14th Street. The location, just across the traffic circle from Prospect Park, is extremely convenient for Windsor Terrace, Park Slope & South Slope. We went to see Wicked, which we thought my Grandson would enjoy. He did, except for the "To Be Continued" ending. I'm a Musical Theatre lover. So I'm not always enamored with changes made for movie adaptations of Broadway Musicals or the Non Musical Theatre actors cast in the leading roles. That said, this review is for the theater not the movie. Nighthawk Cinema is ticketless. The server checks your digital seat confirmation on his first path through the row. Service was a bit slow. Our server could have easily taken our order when he checked our tickets so the food would have arrived quicker. It was written on the small sheet of paper provided for that purpose. I had checked the menu before arriving at the theater since I'm on a perennial diet. It was clever that they offered at least one menu item that was movie themed. For Wicked it was a cocktail, Elphaba's Elixir. I chose the Cornflakes Encrusted Chicken Tenders, which were surprisingly large & tasty. They came with Fries, which I never eat. But.....I did anyway. Of course I had to try the Elphaba's Elixir. The cocktail was good but was served in a tiny martini style glass. My Grandson chose the same, sans the cocktail. My son went with the more traditional popcorn. The food & drink were served without any napkins, straws, eating utensils or water. I first asked for a cocktail straw with the drink, because of shaky hands & lip. I was brought a regular sized straw which wouldn't stay in the tiny cocktail glass. I had to hold it for quite some time before the food was served. That finally provided a place to put the straw between sips. A request had to be made for water since the chicken & fries would have been a choking hazard otherwise. I removed a star from the otherwise excellent review because of simple & affordable necessities that should have been provided at the prices charged, The auditoriums were small with theater style seating. Ample sized non adjustable tables served two seats each. It was quite easy to slip into the comfortable seat with plenty of leg room. It was harder for this senior citizen to get up.:) The auditoriums were on 3 different floors with stairs or an elevator taking patrons to the upper floors. After the movie we waited for my son to pull the car around from his street parking spot. My Grandson & I waited in a comfortable alcove that had obviously been created in a renovation that removed the ticket booth. The remaining microphone portions mounted in the glass were a fun thing for my Middle School aged Grandson to play with. I explained that they had been a part of a ticket booth, pointing out the wood covering in the payment slot. In the midst of explaining to him about ticket booths, my son arrived & came inside because we weren't watching for him. I told him why we missed his arrival. Laughing, he told my Grandson "Yes, there was a time when theaters actually used paper tickets." :) Who would have thought that this would be archaic for Gen Alpha? Overall the theater experience was positive. The location is convenient & the theater comfortable with accessibility. Came her to watch the Korean subtitled movie No Other Choice. The seats are spacious and there is a shared table to keep your drinks and snacks at the ready. Waitress service is a nice touch. I did order the in house beef jerky. It was tasty and they gave a huge portion. I ordered a half pour. I would recommend stopping at the bar first they had happy hour! Was a really fun location to enjoy a movie and a meal with the family. The butter popcorn was amazing (a bit too much butter for my taste, but great nonetheless); my wife had their truffle popcorn which was the best! I really wanted to like this theater because it is the reincarnation of my former dating spot, The Pavillion, but it looks like it got downsized. The theater looks great from the front. They got a concession stand now that looks like a bar and a section to sit with new couches. The seats where you go watch the movies are smaller or at least it feels that way because of how squished we are to the next person. The tables are small that it seems impossible for two people to eat at the same time so we ordered one menu item each time to make sure we had space to place them. The soft beverages should have been free refills like the way it is in Alamo but was half off for refills instead. The truffle popcorn was too small for the price that was charged. There seemed to be more cocktail options than food in the menu. I did enjoy the pina colada, which relaxed me with a well-balanced amount of alcohol. The truffle popcorn was tasty but just not enough. I did not enjoy their nachos which has super spicy cheese. First time here and I was very pleased, vintage style movie theater with a dine in twist. I love the menu here they have movie inspired drinks and appetizers. I came to see beetle juice. The theaters are big. The have a restaurant and bar on the second floor which is pretty cool. I had the neon demon which was a frose drink very delicious and refreshing followed by a blink twice inspired drink which was also really good. For food I tried the corn flakes fried chicken tenders and fries, yum. I seen people rave about the chicken here and it is amazing. Fresh nicely seasoned, fried to perfection and so were the fries I'm not too big on fries but it definitely hit the spot. The pretzel dogs are also a must. Service was quick and easy. Came here for a premiere of Wakanda Forever and to attend the Crown Wakanda Gala. Parking in the neighborhood was a bit difficult so give yourself some time. I pre-purchased my ticket for this event so once I arrived all I had to do was check-in to receive my wristband. Before the movie we went to the Tree Lounge area. That was pretty cool since there was a bar and ample seating, DJ and a step-n-repeat for photos. I opted to wait and order my food in the theatre. Once I was at my seat, I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the theatre. It was huge. Loved that we received t-shirts and posters to celebrate the movie. Right before the movie I ordered the Heart Shaped Herb cocktail and the I'm not a fan of fine dining sandwich. Couldn't deiced between french fries or tater tots but went with the tots since the waitress raved about them. During the movie I also ordered a glass of pinot grigio which came right on time during a pivotal part of the movie. Overall, the drinks were great but I wasn't a fan of the sandwich. A pretty good experience, I've never been to a theater like this before. The seats aren't luxurious and you have people bustling about which can be annoying when you're watching a movie but I like what it's about. The establishment has a vibe different from other movie theaters I've been to - it's definitely not your local AMC or Regal, it has a neighborly feel to it, and a place for parents to escape (not that I'm a parent). They serve alcohol and creative non alcoholic drinks so appreciate the variation here. I'd certainly come back but maybe try to get one of those middle seats so your view isn't obstructed when the staff passes by. read more

I tend to use the rule of three before posting a review, as I think it gives you a standard by which to judge, especially if you hit a place up on an off-day. With that said, we hit the Nitehawk up three times in the last month and are likely to head back for future showings. As we are regular Alamo attendees, the Nitehawk adheres to that same model- half hour of film-related entertainment before the movie; an extended menu with food and cocktail choices and a mixed bag of theater sizes depending on what you're catching. Weekday afternoon showing are a plus due to the wife's and my schedule so that's a plus. You can hit up nearby Double Windsor for great food and beers in the nabe pre-show but the Trees Lounge cafe/bar is a cool stop-in located on the second floor which serves the same menu items found in the theater. Staff is extremely friendly- we have been at near empty and filled to capacity shows but this has always stood out. Food is good- a mix of some funky menu specials connected peripherally to new movies with some standards. We've had the cornflake tenders, Nitehawk queso (with chorizo and black beans), pizzaiola brussel sprouts, and the vegan farro bowl and never had complaints. My wife will usually grab a glass of rose and I've had cocktails and beers (both better that what I've gotten recently at the Alamo). The theaters themselves seem to be well maintained (especially if you remember the old Pavilion in the same space‍), and while there are some small screens, I appreciate the curating of harder to find new releases and 'classics' (an Altman retrospect is on the way this month). This has become our go-to theater over the last month and if they can maintain the same level of service, I can easily see that continuing into the new year. read more

It's truly awesome having a neighborhood movie theater that isn't a chain. I've had lots of smooth experiences, and I've watched for all sorts of movies here: opening day Marvel, summer blockbusters, brunch movies, Valentine's Day, etc. Nitehawk has a pretty fantastic film series that is thoughtfully curated and always interesting. My go-to for snacking here is the avocado and pea hummus with garlic chili oil -- soooo good. Their popcorn is also good, especially if you pay extra for the truffle butter (popcorn refills are half off). I've also had the queso and tater tots, both of which are fine if you're in the mood for that. For all the ordering that occurs during a showing, I think the staff always does a pretty great job of moving quickly and being efficient so as to create as little disturbance to the movie-viewing experience as possible. Tip on the restrooms: The ones on the second level where the bar is is generally empty. If you need to go after a movie lets out, you definitely want to use the second-floor restrooms because as people leave, they generally go to the one by the main entrance. read more

This theather is pretty cool. The service was quick. As soon as we got inside we were able yo order drinks and go directly to or seats where they check us in. Once in your seats we can start lookingat their menh and order anything we'd like to eat during the movie. This time we went to see Asteroid City (a quirky movie). The seats were a bit lower than inwould have liked. I wish they were higher as im a short person. I wasnt able to view the bottom of the screen. We ordered food before and during the movie and the staff was able tombring it efficiently and quietly. They also brought the check 30 min before the movie ended to make sure you pay as needed. We ordered the following Cantina Machine Martini 5/5 it was strong. I added a bit of ginger ale and it made it better to my taste Mediterranean tacos 3/5. It needed more meat and filling. These tasted like americanized tacos. Fried chicken sandwich and tayer tots 4.5/5 the chicken and tots where good. Needed a bigger chicken piece in my opinion. Waffle chicken and fries 4.5/5 the chicken where mini chicken tender bites and the fries were crispy. The sweet glaze sauce was too runny, it should have been thicker to be picked up better by the food. Cheesecake bites 4.5/6 the cheesecake bites were good. They needed to be more frozen and the raspberry dip was also too runny but the taste was delicious read more

I probably like Nitehawk in Williamsburg better than this one, but this is still a solid spot to watch a movie in the neighborhood. Along with Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Brooklyn, Nitehawk is one of my favorite places to watch a movie - the big draw is that you can eat and drink during the show! You place your orders on the index card and you place it on your table, and the friendly staff will bring the stuff right to you. They pull it off without being intrusive at all during the show, and don't even notice. In the post COVID world, the theater no longer require masks (after the city removed mandates). I mean, can't really eat and drink with a mask on anyways! I still try to keep my mask on if the person next to me has one out of courtesy though. With that said, they definitely still keep the place super clean - there are sanitizer dispensers everywhere, and the last time I was there the theater smelled like bleach/cleaning solution (can't accuse them of not disinfecting the place!). For high demand films, I recommend purchasing tickets online to make sure you have a reserved seat - it's assigned seating. Overall I am just super glad that The Pavilion Theater wasn't razed for a residential building as originally planned, and that a local business saved the space and kept it a theater! read more

My boyfriend and I bought tickets to a Saturday night showing of Oppenheimer a few days in advance (recommend this for popular films as we noticed it was sold out about a day in advance.) We were really impressed!! The space is huge and has incredible amenities - such as a bar with a glass wall looking out to prospect park. The service was amazing! You write down your order on a piece of paper and the servers grab it and your order is delivered within 10-15 mins. We found the servers to be incredibly attentive. My bf had a few beers and I had a few glasses of sauv blanc and we ordered the queso to share. Everything was delicious! One note.. the theater was very cold, which was lovely on such a hot day, but recommend bringing a sweatshirt if you get cold, it is set to about 62 degrees. The chairs are comfortable, but they do not recline (at least in the theater we were in) if that's a deal breaker for you. Overall, I highly recommend and we will certainly be returning! read more
