So disappointed. My friend and I both ordered the shepherds pie. It was grease and had a burnt taste. We got 1 French dip sandwich and beef stroganoff as replacement meals. The beef on the sandwich and in the stroganoff was super thinly cut and chopped up! The sandwich had a very minimal serving of beef. The stroganoff should have had cubed beef. read more

Food - got Tavern Burger (BBQ sauce was good) with onion rings and Fire-starter Burger (not spicy, so spice level is nothing to worry about) with chips. Both were good. Service - server came to ask for my order many times, which increased my anxiety level and made it even harder to order. But the person was nice. Sadly his recommendation was no longer on the menu. Got a table quickly. Ambiance - laidback atmosphere. I would give this place another try, but I'll have to pick my order ahead of time. My husband said the meatloaf was 5 stars like he would make at home but better, mixed vegetables were perfect Al dente and flavorful. Myself and a party of 11 dined at this restaurant this past Wednesday . We were greeted with a friendly staff who were very accommodating . We ordered drinks and food . I found the food to be presented well , fresh ingredients and tasty . I was enjoying the setting until my check came. When I reviewed my check I noticed a credit card fee. I asked the server about the charge and she said that they always charge a customer a fee to use a credit card . When I asked to have the fee removed because I was not aware of this charge before I ordered anything she said that she could not remove the charge. I was not happy to be penalized for using my credit card . I would think that a restaurant would want to work on building good customer relationships so that they become repeat customers . I had lunch in Niwot Tavern with some friends on a Friday. The place was fairly busy but the service was quick and friendly. We sat in the patio, which is at the front of the restaurant in the parking lot. The food is typical American fare with a little bit of everything. All of us think the food was good. An update. Used to love this place. The last two or 3 times the food was horrible. Service was good. I cannot eat at this place anymore. Paying something like $17 for a gyro that had 4 thin slices of meat barely noticeable anything else inside was disappointing. Then a very small amount of fries that were cooked well. All that left a bad taste in my mouth and many of us decided...no more. Cannot do it. It is now a crappy bar food. Crappy might be harsh. But not good anymore. read more

First - I live where this restaurant is located. It's in the cozy niwot marketplace with cute shops and fun nighttime lighting. The staff was super friendly and there's just this cozy pub vibe when you walk in. My husband had the chicken sandwich. The bun was so soft! Their fries are natural cut (not my fave) but they were delicious - perfectly fried. We were greeted with large iced waters - always a hit in my book. I also got an iced tea (no lemon). The tea was fresh and I didn't feel the need to sweeten it. My beef stroganoff was delicious though the beef was shaved slices - like you'd use on a French dip. Quaint small restaurant with pub/tavern style flare. Great food options from nachos to chicken pot pie. Portions are plentiful and filling. Staff were friendly and fun. We have been the tavern a few time, and each time we have had a good experience. Try the fish and chips or chicken pot pie or shepherd's pie for total comfort food. The food and service here were great. We started with chips with salsa and guacamole. The chips were fresh, not broken in small pieces, and the quac and salsa were also fresh and seasoned well. The BLAST was delicious. It was made with the correct type of bread, sourdough bread, which was nicely toasted so it did not fall apart. The sandwich had the right amount of mayo, the lettuce and tomato were fresh and crispy and the bacon was tasty, cooked well and had the right amount of smoke flavor. The onion rings were perfectly battered and fried so that each onion was cooked just right. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was also delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was not dry at all. It was tender and flavorful, nicely breaded and had the perfect amount of ham and cheese. The dijon mustard creme sauce was nicely balanced and added a nice, light flavor to the chicken that was not overpowering. It was just delicious. The margaritas were ok. The first one I had was really tasty and nicely balanced. The next ones were a bit sour and the balance was a bit off. I still drank them though! The service was friendly and efficient. When we walked in we were warmly greeted and made to feel very welcome. Our server Mike M was great. He was friendly and very welcoming. He was very attentive and very efficient. Top notch service! I really enjoy Niwot Tavern. Its a place my coworkers and I used to go quite often for team lunches. I LOVE the caesar salad. Its delicious! I have never had anything else until today. Honestly was not that happy with it but thats on me! Thats what happens when you try new things. Sometimes its great, sometimes its not. Oh well. I have two suggestions - the brussel sprouts need some sort of sauce or marinade on them. They are super dry without. I made a mayo-siracha sauce to put on them and they were AMAZING. The apple added to them was so good! Second suggestion - get rid of the green chili. Its not good, AT ALL. Its weird. Has a weird flavor. Had only a few slivers of pork. Not a single chunk or substantial piece. Mostly tomoatoes and one corn kernel. It was weird. BUT it was cheap. So Im very thankful I did not spend a ton on it. The food was great. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak & the fries were the perfect amount of salted & crispy. The menu has a wide variety of food options, everything from salads, poke bowls, burgers, sandwiches, & Mac & cheese. I believe also vegetarian options (no vegan unless you just want a plate of fries or chips). Service was okay! Our waitress didn't ignore us but we also didn't see a lot of her. I brought my dog with me & she was accommodating with me asking for a cup of water for him. We sat outside on the patio (dogs were allowed but I had to tie him up outside of the gated patio) so I could watch & be next to my dog. Hard to find anything wrong with the Niwot Tavern! Just like town of Niwot, it's small, inviting and the people are awesome. Even the locals treat you right. The food and drinks are above par. Their food is scratch made and locally sourced. They even grow their own mint which is why they don't serve mojitos during the cold months. Suggest you get there after 4:00pm and take advantage of the dinner menu. The Niwot Tavern is the kind of place that makes you feel a little bit better when you leave! read more

I had super high expectations for this place because people always mention it in local social media groups as a recommendation but to us it was just ok. I got the fish and chips and my mom got a salad. They gave her like a tablespoon of dressing for her huge salad and my food was just ok. We thought the chairs outside was sooooo uncomfortable! I will say everyone working seemed nice and it's in a cute area. Niwot is cool I would love to visit more! I would definitely give this spot another chance though. read more

For the past three years; before, and during the Covid-19; Niwot Tavern has been the place to be in our town. The bar area with Tara,and Stacy who treat you as an old friend. To the dining room with all friendly faces who lost their jobs these days due to the virus. These days the patio is closed, yet, the tasty food is still served to go :) Fried chicken with mashed potatoes, the blast sandwich, salads with citrus vinegar dressing, and, the caprese with pita chips. The food is mediocre and inconsistent. The service can be okay up until you tell them what you ordered is not what they delivered. Then it's knives out and lots of arguing about how you the customer are wrong, not them. I recently ordered their special chicken pot pie, which I've had in the past & enjoyed. This time it had no chicken and was basicaaly warm cream under a pie crus @ a prce of $18. I mentioned this to our waitress who removed what I had not eaten only to return minutes later with two different stories: 1) the cook ate the rest of what I sent back and said there was lots of chicken AND 2) since she said I had eatrn the entire pie I was not entitled to a refund. How can both of these statements be true? When I asked, the waitress complained I had ruined her evening. Trying to address the issue with the manager led to even more scolding. Finally she called thr owner and dropped the charge. The very thing a smart business would have said before all the whining. Avoid the Niwot Tavern. You may get a decent meal or you may not. This sweet tavern is a great place to stop in for a bite to eat. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their food (French Dip Sandwich, Grilled Blackened Shrimp, Blackened Salmon Sandwich, and another sandwich I can't remember)! It's also a neighborhood business that gives back to the community - collecting and distributing winter jackets for those who need them. Stumbled upon the Niwot Tavern on our way back from Boulder headed to Longmont, Co. My husband and I sat at the bar, had lunch and a cocktail. For ambience, this tavern has a warm and cozy, relaxing atmosphere. For a date, it is not too loud to get to know someone... never did the ambient noise bother us. Though busy, the waitress/server was attentive and allowed us space and time to order as we started with a couple beers, him, a Guinness, and for myself, a Colorado Kolsch. Mmmm. When we finally did order (as we were talking a lot), we both settled upon the B.L.A.S.T., a bacon, lettuce, avocado,Swiss cheese and tomato sandwich with our choice of one side order... fries, coleslaw, fruit, etc. When the food was served, both of us were hungry by the sight of them and the buttery bread, generous fillings of avocado and bacon filled us up. I had expected to finish the sandwich, but only ate half as it was really filling. We weren't rushed out of our seats (a booth) and we spent a leisurely hour and a half getting to know each other. Upon leaving and using the restroom, we noted the group bar tables in the back and reflected times in our past that this would be a really great place to get together with friends.
