We're visiting Erie, CO for the first time, and on our second day, we were looking for a fine dining spot that offered octopus and was also kid-friendly--not always an easy combination to find! After some online searching, we came across Piripi, which offers a unique mix of Latin and Mediterranean cuisine. It sounded promising, so we gave it a try. The restaurant is located upstairs, but there's an elevator available for accessibility, which we appreciated. Upon arriving, we were impressed by how beautiful the space was. The outdoor patio looked inviting, though we opted to sit indoors due to the cloudy and slightly rough weather. We were lucky to be there during happy hour, and took advantage of a bottle of wine at a great value. Our server, Madison, made the experience even more enjoyable. She was attentive, friendly, bubbly, and really took the time to build genuine rapport--outstanding service! For food, we ordered: * Two orders of meatballs (pork and beef mix) - flavorful and well-seasoned * Octopus dish - perfectly cooked and delicious * Salmon dish - fresh and nicely prepared * Cheese pizza for the kids - simple and satisfying After our meal, the kids headed to the play area, which was a fantastic amenity and kept them entertained while we finished up. One note: the cleanliness of the play zone could use some attention. In contrast, the restrooms (two stalls)were clean and well-maintained. *CELIAC / GLUTEN FREE REVIEW while I enjoyed having SO many options to choose from, nothing really blew me away - except the GF bread. We got the ahi tuna, pork braised risotto, and the GF/vegan gnocchi. For dessert, we got the chocolate espresso pie. my pork was very fatty, and I felt the other two dishes just lacked a deeper flavor I was looking for. The pie also just missed the mark, the chocolate frosting on top was super syrupy. however - again - so may GF options to choose from and maybe I just chose wrong. We were excited to try this restaurant in downtown Erie which is a really charming location. Parking is a little difficult, especially if you're there during the majority of business hours. We snagged a reservation about 15 minutes before and were so glad we did because there were people waiting when we got there and by the time we left the line was wrapped around the top floor. To get to the restaurant on the second floor, we took a small elevator that was very slow and a little sketchy and made scary noises- not the sketchiest elevator we've ridden in but we were definitely ready to get off. There was an accessible bathroom on the first floor next to the elevator, with a fairly heavy door. To start the service was fantastic- everyone from the host to the waiter to the busboy. Our biggest complaint is that the space was too crowded- they tried to cram too many tables into a small area to the point where an entire table had to move for the people at the table next to them to get up. This was especially challenging for us with one wheelchair user. Multiple people had to move for us to be able to get through. The hallway to the bathroom was also blocked off for anybody using a wheelchair or walker by having a table placed in the space. Otherwise, according to the non-wheelchair user of the group, the hallway would have been accessible and the bathroom would have been spacious with a light door and a large bathroom stall and reachable soap. Would have been great if we could have gotten to it. We enjoyed the multiple nonalcoholic options on the drink menu. Most of the menu is gluten free. We started with burrata with balsamic and a green sauce- everything was good but the green sauce was a little overpowering which hid the flavor of the burrata. We also had a Caesar salad- the dressing was delicious and the greens were fresh, heads up it was heavily decorated with anchovies which could be a plus or minus depending on your palate. For our main course we had the chimichurri steak with potatoes, carrots and broccolini, which was the star of the night. The chimichurri was delicious. We also got the homemade fetuccini with the basil cream sauce- the sauce was a little underwhelming, and the chicken could have used a bit more flavor. By the bathrooms, there is a cute little play room for kids with arcade games and toys, probably best for ages 8 and under. The prices seemed a little high- it was $115 (without tip) for two nonalcoholic drinks, two appetizers, and two entrees. We would consider going back for lunch when the prices are more reasonable- and it would hopefully be less crowded read more

This restaurant is my go to for anything that I want fine dining. I can't say that there's been anything that I've had there that wasn't extraordinary. I'll also love the atmosphere! The staff is great and to be totally transparent I did have one issue with a hostess. While we were eating dinner, the hostess told me and my friend that we needed to move to accommodate them seating a large larger table. The waitress quickly intervened, and we did not need to move, especially since we still were eating our food lol. Outside of that I still continue to go and really enjoy it each time that I'm there. read more

Amazing!!! I went here with my dad, who came in from out of town, and everything was amazing! Our waitress, Hope, was so nice and gave plenty of recommendations! I had the fettuccine alfredo, and it was literally my favorite thing I've had this year! We also ordered the espresso pie for dessert, again, AMAZING!! We came here for theirs Father's Day specials- surf and turf or beef Wellington. We got both! They were both SO good. The bernaise sauce on the beef Wellington was divine. They should definitely do this as a regular special. I know beef Wellington is complicated to make but it was so good. Our server (Nadia?) was wonderful! Listen. When one of the best restaurants in the area is right up the street (24 ...IYKYK) this menu just doesn't cut it for me at a similar price point and sorta similar cuisine. It wasn't bad but everything was just a little too sweet (too much balsamic), a little under flavored, nothing was a standout. I liked the atmosphere and the service was pretty good. But probably won't be back...I'll walk up the street instead for that other mind blowing gnocchi. read more

We ordered the scallops which were perfectly cooked and dressed with a tasty but not overbearing sauce, the pulpo was also perfectly cooked, so delicious we ordered a second. Clams and mussels were served in a yummy broth--not too salty yet flavorful--and served with toasted bread that tasted homemade and fresh-baked. Hummus was good too. Meatballs were average. The dessert, chocolate cookie bed with espresso chocolate pie was not good--tasted grocery store with Hershey sauce--so I would not order that next time. Service was great--friendly and helpful. Nice patio and plenty of natural light with beautiful pictures on the wall of the team's home countries. We ate early so not much ambiance yet, but it was picking up when we left. I was so excited to go to Piripi. A couple of weeks ago, I went there with some friends and had a fabulous dinner. It was a Wednesday night, the restaurant was a great setting for conversation and great food. So when a dear friend came to visit from out of state, I wanted to take her to Piripi. I made a reservation several days in advance. When we got there, the place was crowded and very loud. It was Saturday night, so, OK. The hostess showed us to our table - a tiny drinks table with two barstools right next to the patio door. I asked the hostess for another table and she said there was no other table. I said I had made a reservation and this was where they thought it was fine to seat me? She said something to the effect that people were seated where they could fit. Wow. Just wow. What if one of us had been physically challenged and couldn't climb up on a barstool? How were we supposed to enjoy a full meal on a table top that wasn't even 2 feet square? And this is how they treat their guests who made the effort to make a reservation??? We left. I don't care how good the food is. I have worked in restaurants and I would never treat a guest that way. We walked a bit down the street to Azteca, a consistent and long-standing restaurant, and had a fabulous meal. Go there instead. read more

We came here for Valentines Day and overall had a wonderful experience! We had reservations so not sure what the typical wait may be but I recommend making one just in case! Customer service was great, our waiter was super kind and attentive. The ambiance is very cute and cozy! The tables are pretty close together so it may be difficult to get items like walkers or strollers through the aisles. The lighting was dimmed later the evening got which was very nice!! The food is pretty great!! They offered special valentines menu which had a few entrees, dessert, and drink options. We both got steaks which were good cuts and cooked well. (I highly recommend getting the Spiced Apple Mule ;)) We finished with crème brûlée for dessert and oh was that delicious! Pricing of the food is on the higher end and overall I'm still contemplating whether it was worth it or not. However, the experience was great and the food was good! Yes, the salad was refrigerated, destroying the flavor in tomatoes, No fresh basil but instead pesto? In early October EVERYTHING on a Caprese Salad should be fresh. Balsamic was rich and again refrigeration lowered flavor. Arugula garnish was nice and peppery. Hey, NOT amazing, but we are "A-OK" in Erie, CO! I'm guessing chef was trained by Hilton or Marriot catering services: Refrigerate for mass delivery and consumption. Management needs guidance; the time it takes to cut a tomato, arrange slices between mozzarella, and garnish with basil for less than 12 tables does not come before quality. Same goes for your other dishes. Cut the laziness in the kitchen. Server earned extra star. Terrific. Maybe you should let her make salads? Shade on balcony will be short-lived. Prediction: within a year the umbrellas will be ripped away in a windstorm and a roof may replace them. read more

Hello again Boulder County!!! We had an amazing experience tonight at one of my favorite restaurants, Piripi in Erie! This is an absolute gem and hidden treasure in my book. I haven't reviewed them before for fear of bursting popularity. (Shame on me for selfishly keeping this one to myself!). Let me begin, by saying you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! Piripi offers delicious dishes full of authentic flavors that pleases the palate. The dishes are unique, diverse and delectable! (As a bonus-they are Celiac friendly restaurant with the majority of the menu, Gluten free!) This visit however will be reviewed based on a takeover evening on January 23, 2024. Chef Hugo Meyer had a friend from Argentina-Chef Juan Marino come for an Argentina takeover in efforts for consideration of a potential new concept restaurant . . . . Right here in Colorado!! This menu offered was outstanding and we enjoyed every single bite. We ordered the entire menu. The evening was offered as a 4 course menu with each course given two options. Our first course, salad, was fresh, bright and balanced beautifully. One of our salads had a tasteful eye round beef with a very rich but flavorful cream sauce and Parmesan shaved arugula. It blended together so nicely! The traditional empanadas were a beautiful surprise of great flavors and really delicious accompaniments. The fried cheese was just heaven with the balance of texture and flavor. The crackers gave it an extra texture crunch that finished beautifully. Our main dishes of meats were prepared to our preference of medium rare and all three meats were married together with a delicious homemade Chimichurri salsa. The chicken styled parmesan dish with an outstanding stuffed pepper was a very unique surprise. Desserts were a culinary delight - dolce de Leche was outstanding and the grilled banana was delicious. Our vote is an absolute YES please! The evening was such a great night of fabulous food that Colorado would be delighted to have this Argentina addition! We welcome you to colorful Colorado! The staff as always, was attentive, kind and polite. Nico explained the menu and guided us through our culinary journey. Kyan is one of our favorite employees who always makes us feel like we are at home with our family enjoying evening dinners with our kids, together. Piripi is a culinary delight! Absolutely my new favorite North Metro area restaurant in Erie, Colorado. Trendy, upscale, lodo feel with delightful international choices, both inside and outside dining options. The Mediterranean salad was fresh with light, tantalizing dressing, a perfect addition to any entree and plenty for two. Baked olives took us to Spain and and made us feel like our palette was traveling around the world. Almond crusted fish and chips are the perfect texture combination with flaky white cod and piripi cut potatoe slices. Can't wait to come back for Happy Hour specials and try the Zero alcohol drinks! The skinny: great food, good service, naive, disorganized reception, unsupported, resource-poor management, and horrific bartending. Might want to rain check this one. The autopsy (warning to those of you with a reading allergy: this is long): Ok, look - if my only experience of this place involved the food, we'd be talking 4-5 stars easy. The appetizers and mains were flavorful and well-plated (my New York strip with chimichuri was beautiful!). The deserts were kind of phoned-in, prefab stuff, nowhere near the caliber of the rest of the menu, but still ok. So why two stars? The rest of the experience was not good. The person in charge of the reservation desk apparently can't say no, and the place was completely overbooked. Walk-ins we're seated despite customers with reservations waiting for tables. We had a reservation...but we're told we'd have to sit outside on the patio or continue to wait past our reservation time. We opted for the patio, noting the large heating units in place to offset the winter chill. The heating towers did not have fuel. No one seemed to know what to do about it, and we were seated too far away from the radiant heaters to stay warm. We decided to tough it out and order warming beverages to assist. Hot toddy's + mulled wine + coffee nudges = winter cheer, right? Wrong. I should have known something was up when they only reluctantly brought us a cocktail menu... The hot beverages were barely warm. A third of my toddy had spilled in route to the table, and tasted like tepid apple juice. The mulled wine was a horror, entirely cooked-down until no alcohol remained (yet somehow also tepid!), acrid and very bitter. We sent them back. The Mexican coffee was at least warm, (we passed it around to warm our hands) but over-liquored, bitter, and the whipped cream had begun curdling into cottage cheese, probably from the acid in the nasty, burnt coffee they used. No amount of tequila can cover that funk. Curiously, no offer was made to replace our beverages. It seems likely the serving staff were under instructions to discourage customers from ordering cocktails. We found out why, later. Presently, I can't recommend ordering ANY beverage THEY have to actually concoct - stick with bottled wine and beer, if you must imbibe. They have to try harder to screw that up. As the dinner dragged on and on, the apologies began. First a server. Then another. Then someone who called themselves a "floater". Even the busboy. Then the manager, who handed out little bottles of cheap fizzy wine as some sort of compensation (makes sense, actually. Thank goodness she didn't opt to make us drinks!). They told us various stories; the owners were on vacation, they had seated some large parties they were unprepared for, the bartender was sick, and so on, all very believable, but none of that gets to the crux of why so many customers got the short end of the stick that night, I think. It blows my mind that despite having friendly servers, good cooks, a fun menu, good equipment, tasteful decor, a decent location...things most restaurants would kill for...this place managed to deliver such a memorably poor experience. The only thing more surprising is that we stayed for the whole performance... All told, the meal set us back over $200 for a party of four, and took over two hours to complete, on uncomfortable patio chairs in bloody Colorado January, no less. Not recommended, at least not until the owners get back from Mexico or Belize or wherever and hire a real bartender (or two), and maybe train their receptionist on the finer points of the use of the word, "no". (To the restaurant: please consider cross-training FOH employees to effectively cover the duties of their teammates, like making drinks, firing up patio heaters, even taking reservations. Too many things in your restaurant are "somebody else's problem". Staff knowing and being able to handle each other's responsibilities will help keep the inevitable problems that do arise out of view of your customers.) read more

As a person with Celiac, I was really excited to try this place. They do have a ton of gf stuff. Almost everything on the menu was labeled gluten free. I had the bacon wrapped dates, NY strip, & a scotch. I went with a group. Everyone was asked for their drink order, but I wasn't, twice. So that was weird but whatever. Then the dates came out. They were really good, but each was more like half a date. They were tiny. I ordered the steak rare and it was just a hair under well done. When I asked for scotch, they told me they had Glenlivet. Great. They didn't tell me it was the 18 & $22 a pour. All & all the bill was $87 + tip. I was never asked how anything was. Each person was served their food as it was ready, so by the time I got mine, some people were almost done eating & I didn't want to wait to have them redo it. I tried to eat around the well done bits, but that was most of it. I was also interested in trying the chimichurri sauce but all I could taste was the vinegar. I ended paying over $90 for dinner & went home hungry. Definitely won't be back. read more

Ruined birthday dinner. Don't go to piripi on a Saturday night for a celebration if a) you want the special entree b) you want to eat your appetizer with your dinner companion c) you want a hot entree! Just returned from what was supposed to be a celebratory dinner at Piripi on a Saturday night. At 6:30 in the evening they had already run out of the entree special. I was served and finished my appetizer and my bowl was cleared before my husband even saw his. When the entrees arrived mine was cold. Having asked for my returned entree to be bagged to go our server told us was should come back in on a quieter night for a better experience. Maybe if the service (both servers and kitchen) can't cope with indoor and outdoor tables then the number of tables sitted should be reduced so that service is maintained!!! read more

This place is a dream! As someone with food restrictions, I was so excited to see so many dairy and gluten free options. I wanted to try everything and I will be back every time we fly back! The flavors were incredible! The octopus dish was a flavor party with a spicy sauce option and sweet sauce to dip it in. It was very tender. I tried a dish that was like a bruschetta and it did not disappoint! I was so excited to get to have something like this again and even my husband mentioned the gluten free bread was delicious. We couldn't stop here! I had to try the almond crusted fish n'chips! Wow! The flavor! I felt like I was in heaven. Then I find out they have dairy and gluten free desserts! Surprise surprise, no flavor was missed here. Incredible! I would love to see one of these open up in San Diego. Let's not for get the drinks, service, and atmosphere. My family and I just moved to Colorado from Southern California. Let me start by saying that we did not have any restaurants near us in So Cal that even came close to Piripi. This is hands down our favorite restaurant. The quality is amazing. There are SO MANY gluten free options. The lime pie (GF) is insanely good. Our kids love to go there and color because the kids menu comes with a cute paper to color and crayons. Every time we have friends or family from out of town, we bring them to Piripi. I'm so happy we stumbled on this place while aimlessly wandering old town Erie. It is simply the best. read more

Super disappointed. Quality food but overpriced for what you get and really bad service both times I've been here (lunch and dinner). At dinner they served a food red wine ice cold!? Other people have had the same happen to them. For lunch the server was a nice kid, literally no server experience. For a two person $60 lunch (no alcohol) I'd expect someone who knows what to do... And not to get my plate 15 mins after my guest, and missing the veggies which took another 10 minutes and two reminders. Any $20 lunch plate should include a vegetable. In researching this restaurant before going there I had many questions: do they have outdoor seating with wait service? Do they have Happy Hour? Is the outdoor seating in the afternoon sun? Is this place amazing? The answers? Yes, yes, yes, and yes!! This place exceeded expectations. We truly enjoyed ourselves. I expected the food to be more expensive, but the menu has lots of reasonable options. The food and drinks were excellent. If the pulpa (octopus) is available, I'd highly recommend it. The fish and chips included one overdone fish piece....dry and not good.
