The Delmar Loop area is popping back up with some of the coolest new places to try! We absolutely loved having lunch here. The shared outdoor space with Florentin and Del Bono makes it so inviting. Nixta's new location is indeed nicely decorated with a fun and pleasant vibe. It's a comfortable, nice place to spend an evening. Historically, you found Nixta more than solid in both food and drinks. For example, their grilled octopus remains a highlight, light but flavorful, and still a reliable choice but their overall execution has definitely declined, sadly. They do have a cocktail menu that's quite good, though you missed the mezcalitas they once offered. The service on our recent visit was a major letdown. Even on a quiet Thursday night with only one other table present, the staff didn't show much engagement or interest in guiding us through the menu. This lack of attentiveness was disappointing, especially since the restaurant was nearly empty. In the past, I would have rated Nixta very highly, but now I'd place it around three/four stars due to the service issues. In summary, the food remains good, but unless the service improves, it's hard to wholeheartedly recommend it for a full dining experience. read more

Really great space! Located in a space with sister restaurants, the space offers both inside and outside seating. The ample tealight candles create a nice vibe and on this particular Friday, a DJ started playing around 8p. Starting with Chips and Salsa (not complimentary), queso and guac offered a strong variety of flavors. The queso and guac were both delicious, definitely worth a try. The salsa packs a punch and for the serving size, it was least comparable to cost. Fish tacos, 2 on the order. If you get appetizers, it's easy to share this because they are huge in size and each comes with ~piece and 1/2 of fish. Side of beans were also a great accompaniment. Soooo... I saw a $29.99 Margarita and my curiosity got the best of me because why is it so high! My daughter suggested here for our Friday night dinner. She's been before and raved about the food. We arrived and it's a neat eclectic decorated space. We were greeted and seated immediately. We perused the menu and ordered. We had the crab ceviche, and. guacamole for starters. Both were fresh and delish (no pics). We decided to share mains and ordered the fish tacos and chicken quesadilla with mile sauce. It didnt take long for the mains to arrive. On first glance every thing looked perfect. My daughter found a long dark hair in one of the tacos. The waitress retrieves them and said she would cover them. The quesadilla was good but the amount of chicken was minuscule. The second set of tacos arrive and the were delish. We ask for the check and instead of "covering" the tacos she charged half price. Great service means that when something like that happens the manager comes over and definitely you're not charged for the item. Do better. I probably won't return. read more

I didn't like the old Nixta so I didn't have high expectations when I came in. I also did not realize the new location is right next to Steve's hotdog and the fountain on Locust. The restaurant itself is really cute, has a small outside patio. The food at this restaurant it was amazing. Every little thing just tasted so good. I wasn't in the mood to drink so I got a watermelon refresher. For dinner, We started with splitting guacamole, the tostada and shrimp ceviche. All were really good. We also ordered the octopus and the empanada. Again all delicious and flavorful. For dessert, we split the flan, and it was probably the best flan I have ever had. Service was ok. Waitress was pleasant but took forever to get our check. They also billed us for salsa, which we didn't order, but she quickly took that off for us. I will def go back again, specially for the flan. So happy to have finally made my way to Nixta. I had never been and always heard really great things. Its new location on in Delmar Maker District is really inviting. It's decorated intricately and has a cozy vibe to it while being an open space. Our server was super awesome and attentive, she was a pleasure to chat with! To start, I had a spicy margarita which was great. They have a variety of cocktails and beers to choose from, and also have tequila flights. We also had the shrimp ceviche and it was so fresh, it was probably my favorite thing that we had! I would have gotten that to myself for my full meal. The pickled red onion really brought everything together. I had the carne asada signature tacos. They were good, but the onion and salsa verde really made them delicious. Few things : they don't have the mezcal margarita that they used to have at the old location. It tasted different . We got the chips and salsa and the bowl was so tiny/narrow that there was no way to dip the chips in the salsa. Scallops aguachile was pretty tasty and so were the Al pastor tacos and the flan . I've been wanting to check out the new Nixta that recently reopened in Delmar Maker District. We finally dined here on Tuesday night. It's a gorgeous restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating options. I'm obsessed with Nixta's interior design,from selecting the perfect tables/chairs to creating a vibrant, Instagrammable dining space with inviting atmosphere. They also played very very good music. It definitely made my night more enjoyable. I was craving for seafood, and Nixta definitely delivered. We ordered guacamole, Baja cod tacos, mixto ceviche, tamales,and churros. For me, the real winner at Nixta would be the mixto Mexican ceviche. It's a perfect balance of acidity, heat, and freshness. Guacamole was heavenly good. The cod in Baja tacos was crispy fried but lacking of taste, and texture. Service was friendly and attentive. Jonathan, the manager also brought out gelato for my son. He was so kind and welcoming. 4 star food but on 2/1 they're going to start adding 4% extra fee to all bills (not gratuity) to milk customers out of even more money just to pay their staff. I support fair wages and equitable pay for hard working employees, but this undermines the traditional tipping system which empowers diners to reward great service directly. By imposing an arbitrary 4% fee, Nixta erodes that choice and assumes their diners are unwilling to tip fairly -- a baseless and insulting notion. It's also a form of stealth inflation. Prices should reflect the full cost of running a business, not be padded with vague add-ons. If your business requires a higher pay for employees, adjust your menu prices transparently instead of penalizing diners and making us "ask the staff to remove it." You're trying to embarrass guests and shame them for telling you to F off with your bogus fees. This practice is an abdication of responsibility. Fair wages should be the responsibility of the employer, not an extra tax on patrons. This fee sets a concerning precedent and feels like a thinly-veiled attempt to pass the buck onto loyal customers. If you truly value your staff, then own the responsibility through higher wages, not by sneaking fees sheepishly onto the bill. read more

Let me start by saying, I want this restaurant to do well. Saint Louis needs good restaurants. The worst experience of the night- on the menu they have a Rose of the Day, Prosecco Rose and a cava. I ordered the Prosecco Rose. They sent me the rose of the day. When I told the waitress she went to speak to I'm assuming the manager and she came back to inform me that I was confused and must have wanted the cava because they do not have a Prosecco rose on the menu. After much back and forth she was committed to gaslighting me about the fact there was no Prosecco rose on the menu and I should just get the cava. I had no fight in me left so surrendered and took the flat cava. Food- when you order the chips and salsa just know the salsa comes in a half filled shot glass so you'll need about 1 per guest. I am only posting because my friends and I could not get past the arguing over what their menu was. If you are out of most of the wine on your menu, just be honest.
