House bound and sushi starved, their sushi supreme is the best deal on the internet, and it is gooood!

We were craving Chinese food and wanted to try a place we haven't been before. We were nearby and figured we would check this place out. It is in a strip mall with a bunch of different options. On the outside It looks too small to have any type of sit-down area. We walked in and peaked inside and once you turn the corner of the counter, there is a dining room. So we decided to eat in. The dining room is very dated and doesn't look like it gets much use. It is set up though for karaoke. Our server came over with menus and took our drink order of hot tea and water. She came back with the tea and wonton chips and dipping sauce. They were very good...the sauce was light but complimented the chips perfectly. We decided to share chicken corn soup and a quart of General Tso Chicken. The soup came out in a big bowl and she gave us each a cup. The soup was was like an egg drop soup with corn and chicken. It was good. It had good flavor. It is a good comfort soup. The General Tso Chicken came out with some broccoli (I tend to not like broccoli from Chinese restaurants since it can be really hard) water chestnuts, and some green peppers. Everything was so good. The chicken wasn't heavy or greasy. The coating was crispy but not heavy. Sometimes getting General Tso's Chicken it is mostly the fried coating. This was just enough. It popped in your mouth. The broccoli was cooked perfectly. Al dente without being too hard. The water chestnuts and green peppers were a nice addition too. I thought our food was excellent and the service was very good. It looks most of their business is through takeout, but it would be nice if they updated the dining room just a little bit. We definitely will be back to try some other dishes. read more

I was craving Chinese food and I had gotten number 1 asian bistro before but not the fried rice or the Singapore noodle so I decided to give it a try. I ordered a large pork fried rice and an order of the chicken Singapore noodle Mei fun. The meal was good, no complaints. The fried rice is darker than what I'm used to but the taste is good. I know some Chinese restaurant fried rice is darker and some are lighter. For the Mei fun, usually Singapore Mei fun has shrimp, pork, and chicken but this place only allows you to pick one of the three. I don't like how I waited at the restaurant while the lady was doing other tasks even though my order was ready. At least acknowledge that I'm there but instead I had to wait more than 15 mins to just get her attention. read more

THE ABSOLUTE WORST. I do not eat meat ordered shrimp and broccoli with white rice the wrong order was delivered. They gave me shrimp and broccoli with pork fried rice. I called and tried to explain my order was incorrect and the owner advised to stop calling because she has other callers trying to order. (I only called to place my order .. then called to advise my order was incorrect) I went up to the restaurant and she then continued to state she wasn't providing the correct order or refunding the money. My first run at Number 1 Asian Bistro and I came away satisfied and even a little nostalgic. This place felt like a trip to 1980 on my lunch break. Period furniture, dated mural of waterfalls and cranes, a carpet that was so soiled that I hesitated to rest my shoes on it, and staff doing their prep work right out in the dining room. It all made some kind of sense, and the hostess/owner had an offhand humor that made me feel comfortable. Although there is a sushi area, this place is fundamentally a traditional Chinese/American house where Cantonese dishes are well made, and the kitchen is good enough to make a decent attempt at Thai and Japanese, but you wouldn't mistake any of those things as authentic. The Hot & Sour Soup was thick, vinegary, and loaded with Mushrooms, Tofu, and Sprouts. It was good. The atmosphere put me back to my early years when I still enjoyed Cantonese and Fuzhounese food, so on impulse I ordered Pork Egg Foo Young, complete with that gloopy brown sauce. It was also quite good, and completed the time warp sensation I had been experiencing since entry. Considering all the really poor imitations of Sino-American food in the area, it was a pleasure to step into the past, and have a meal I had not tasted in a long time. If I could rate this place lower than a star.. I would. Why you ask? Let me count the ways. 1) Food took about an hour later to be delivered than they stated. 2) Food was delivered ICE cold 3) Philadelphia Rolls tasted sour and upon inspection were discolored 4) Didnt realize we were ordering from McDonalds where we get a surprise in our food. And by surprise I mean an 18 inch hair. 5) When I attempted to call in to speak to a manager about the entire issue, i was berated by the "oh so awesome" woman answering the phone. Rude, nasty, and overall ignorant. So if you wanna overspend and be underwhelmed, then this is the place for you. If you want to wait almost 2 hours for food that you wouldnt feed to your dog, this is the place for you. I work in area and frequent this place for lunch. If bored with the Chinese buffet nearby, I'd recommend the # 1. Besides the usual, I appreciate the other dishes on menu, like Thai basil, mango chicken, and my personal favorite: creaky chicken, which is crispy white meat in a unique tangy sauce with shredded ginger. Dine-in lunch specials include a soup and spring roll; take-out is spring roll and soda can. Keep in mind you won't be impressed with decor, #1 still has that 1970's Chinese restaurant retro, complete with red linen tablecloths, the gigantic landscape painting and that slightly irritating traditional Chinese string music. They also have Japanese / sushi too, but that's not really my speed, especially in a Chinese place, so I have not tried it. read more

I'm telling you this quaint Asian-American place is absolutely the best one in the area!! My family recently moved to Hamilton, so we were stuck in a tight spot when hungry and craving Chinese but wary about the Trenton joints we already knew were less than great. My mom recommended delivery from No. 1 Asian Bistro because they had recently delivered to her work place.I My favorite is the Honey Walnut chicken, which no other Chinese place in the area seems to have on the menu! I was soo excited to see they offered my fave. And it did not disappoint!! (see picture, my third time ordering from them) the portion is very good for the price, about $9. And even after sharing with my sister I always have lots left over. My dad is picky about his spare ribs and pork fried rice. After recieving disappointing pale rice and only a few bits of pork, he knew he couldn't order from the same local shop. With Asian bistros rice, he was happy to see hefty red spare ribs, perfectly flavored, and yellow rice with ample pork and seasonings. Great place to order from! You can even order and pay online! I'd give it zero stars if I could...Make sure before you accept your food delivery your order is correct. An error was made on the part of the restaurant and when I told them about it they immediately became defensive and accused me of ordering pork in my rice and I don't eat pork. Avoid this place like the plague! I was refused refund and only given a choice of white rice that would not change the fact that pork touched my other food. No attempt to correct the order was ever made and the manager was upset that I called to tell her about the error. So I paid for the wrong order that I can't eat and bad customer service?!! Ordered delivery here a couple weeks ago, they took over an hour to deliver, when they're only like less than a 10 min drive. So I didn't give the guy a tip. Today I had a very disappointing experience with the restaurant. MY coworkers and I order from them for delivery today to our job. They did not bring the entire order and missed a couple items. When we called them they accused of of lying and insisting they delivered everything. We told them they did not and all they said was check again and if they were to replace the items they would be losing money. We actually reordered the items again for delivery. You would think they would figured out we were not lying since we chose to reorder the items again but that did not change their mind and still charged us for the order. That is extremely poor customer service on their part and they are not concerned about satisfying their customers. read more

My go-to for reliable Chinese takeout or delivery whenever the mood strikes. The owner is always present and hands-on, and makes it obvious she appreciates your business. There is a reason she has been in business for a very long time. The food is typically fresh and flavorful. Can order online. The inside is typical 70's style Chinese restaurant. Have been ordering takeout from this place for years. Even after moving to Bordentown and trying the local Chinese takeouts in the area I still will drive the extra time to get it from here. Sushi is about what you'd expect from a Chinese takeout. Dinner and lunch combos are really the way to go as they are so cheap. Have tried many different meals and have yet to have one I didn't like. Dining in is a bit awkward though as it is usually pretty dead in the dining room. read more

Gross. Ordered from GrubHub. There were only two options in the area. Made the mistake of picking the cheaper one. They got my order wrong, then took nearly an hour to deliver the correct order. General Tsos was tasteless and sauceless. Oily AF and the oil tasted turned. No sauce with the crab Rangoon. Pastry on the crab Rangoon was this terrible hard wonton wrapper. This was one of the worst customer service experience I have ever had. If there were negative stars, I would give this to them. The person who took my call was super unprofessional and did not understand the order at all. I asked about a menu product and he was unable to answer what was included in the product. I spoke in Chinese in the beginning and he was unable to understand it, so I spoke in English. He seemed to not be fluent in both languages. I asked if they had scallion pancakes and at first he said no. I asked because it wasn't on the menu. After speaking to someone in the background, he says he does have some and I continue to ask the price. He doesn't know the price and asks someone in the background again. The price was pretty expensive already, but I wanted to trust them. Also, I heard singing from the phone too during half of the ordering process. The phone was randomly passed to a woman and she continues to ask about our order when we just ordered it with the man. Both of the man and woman was rude af and seemed to have no professionalism. They didn't even ask for my name when I ordered. I really considered canceling my other, so I call them again in like around 3 minutes and they already said that it is already done. There is no possible way you can finish a order this fast unless they randomly tossed the food in oil and made it within seconds. They call back in like 5 minutes saying we can pick it up downstairs. I come down and a man comes out with the order. Right when I get the food, he continues to ask for tip. I was so pissed at this point, but he didn't seem to have change so I just gave him $20 with tip. When I open the food (already mad af), I was even more disappointed. Understand this has been a twice-a-month Friday lunch staple for 8 of us working down the street. Because of work schedules, we don't rely on delivery, so I won't comment on this, we always will pickup. The lady (owner?) who takes the phone orders is not rude, or abrupt; she is kurt, and to the point, usually because the call-ins are backing up. Perhaps there's a cultural disconnect that causes some reviewers to find her rude. This is not a gourmet institution, just a small store front (with tables if you want to eat in), with a decent selection of good food. So I'm giving 5 stars based on its value to me. I especially love the garlic shredded pork, or the crunchy chicken. The fact that we keep coming back (when three other Chinese food places in the area have shut down in the last five years) should give you a clue that its doing something right. And the lunch special includes a small spring roll and can of soda. BTW, I've retired recently, but I still make regular pickup visits. And my former workplace buddies still have their biweekly lunch ritual. read more

I rarely write reviews, but when I do it's for either extremely positive or extremely negative experiences. Unfortunately this one happens to be not so hot. I recently moved to Robbinsville, and the weekend of my move I was hankering for some Sushi. I'm familiar with the area, and number one bistro came up as only 10 minutes away from my new place, and said they deliver. On a Saturday around 5 o'clock, my sister placed an order for some basic Chinese food, and about four different types of sushi through Grubbub. Then that's when things took a turn. About an hour later, I had asked my sister if they said how long it would probably be. The delivery time said between 6:00 and 6:15 PM. I figured OK, that makes sense because it Saturday. 6:15 came and went, and still no food. My sister called the restaurant, and very rude woman explained that they are very busy, and he (the delivery person) was on his way. At 7:00 PM. I started getting very angry, because for a place that is less than 10 minutes away, when someone is supposedly on their way 45 minutes ago and still not there, that's just not cool. I ended up calling myself, stating that my sister had called earlier. It must've been the same woman who my sister spoke with, who rudely explained that my address is in a "different direction" , They are very busy, and he already left. It was about 15 minutes later that I was about to walk out the door to go there myself and flip out, when finally the delivery person came... 2 1/2 hours later. It is such a shame because the food was decent, not the best, but the delivery time and the way we were treated via the phone was so bad that I will not be eating from there ever again. read more

I wish I could give 2.5 stars. I love the food here it is always flavorful and some of the best Chinese food in the area. This is the go to place for Chinese food at work and has never disappointed us. However in the recent weeks we have received extremely poor delivery service. We waited over an 1hour 45 minutes on a Tuesday for delivery after being told only 30 minutes. Once we finally received our order it was wrong and missing items. The delivery driver promised to return and correct the items but they never did. We as diehard fans of this establishment decided to order again and waited over an hour again with a similar result. We will try again in a few month because everyone can have an off month and the food is worth it. I will update once we try again. read more

Customer service is unprofessional and rude. I enjoyed their food and my family ordered from them many times. The one time we couldn't give them a tip, the driver pestered us with complaints. We've always tipped them, but the one time we couldn't, the driver insisted multiple times. They insisted we tip them either by cash or write on the receipt with card. They complained that their boss either didn't pay them enough or pay them for delivery. On top of that, we waited for an hour and longer for a small order. It's always courteous to tip, but businesses should not be pestering or insisting their customers to tip; it's rude and unprofessional. My family won't be ordering from them again. Note to self and others: if you can't tip, pick it up yourself or don't order food from a business who is rude and will pester you/knock on your door for tip. Also - we ordered food tonight. I'm editing this review after what just happened. We just got around to opening another dish from the order and found a staple in it. Not only rude business, but careless behavior. The 5 stars is for the food and the impeccable service. I'd placed a huge order and when it arrived there was one item missing. When I'd called to mention the missing item, the owner apologized and had the (1) missing item delivered to me!! Who does that for one item? Most time the cost will be credited to your next order but how often will it be forgotten... anyway not only did she have the item prepared and delivered she also included another item at NO COST to me!! I've eaten here many times (the food is very good) and this was my first time requesting delivery. The soup broth is flavorful and delish. I had Hong Kong noodles with shrimp. I do not recommend ordering from this restaurant. I ordered through a third party app for delivery and the male driver came to and banged very loud as if he was angered about something. Little did I know when I opened the door that he was going to try to bully me into giving him more tip because it wasn't enough for him. I would like to mention that I was a female home alone and he stood on my porch going back and fourth, yelling loudly at night. I bet he wouldn't get loud with another man. I should've slammed the door on him and called the cops because he was aggressive. Tipping is not customary in other countries and it's OPTIONAL here. He definitely deserves to lose his job! I called the third party app to complain and also called the restaurant directly. The lady that I spoke to at the business clearly didn't care and had the nerve to defend the driver and insinUate that I did not give a proper tip. When the food is great, it's fantastic. When it's not, it's a chewy mess. So you never know what you're gonna get. They have sushi as well as chinese and the lobster roll is very bland. That was a big disappointment. They have been more than 90 minutes for delivery on several occasions and the owner just blows it off. She also made dining in unbearable the one time we tried it with her non stop loudness and throwing the plates and sodas on the table. As a Chinese food aficionado, this is some of the best Chinese I've had near Princeton and I found it in Hamilton/Trenton, NJ! I can't wait to go back! Tucked away in a corner of a strip mall, you walk into #1 Chinese Kitchen and first see a takeout counter. But, make a right and there's a sushi counter and then a full dining room. I was nervous, because I wasn't sure how good the food would be, but the ingredients were fresh and delicious! Try the stir fried string beans and the eggplant with garlic sauce. The string beans were crisp with a bit of crunch and delicious. The eggplant was my favorite though and reminded me of a Chinese restaurant, San Tung, in San Fran, where they do a "dry fried" version that coats the eggplant pieces in a batter and then is lightly fried and then doused with a slightly spicy "with a kick" sauce that was very delicious. I think I "mmmmm'd" my way through dinner. So good - can't wait to go back to order both of these again. I had a chat with the lady there and she said they've been there since the 80s. I'm totally not surprised by their success (and longevity in the tough restaurant business) - the food was delicious and prepared by a master chef, who could probably cut it in the best restaurants in SF or NYC's Chinatown. Also, if you need any shoes repaired, the gentleman running the shoe and luggage repair shop, a few doors down, is a real artist. He will resole and shine your shoes and make them look like new.
