First time in Grand and looked for a sushi place. When I first walked in it seemed very relaxed with a cool fish tank and a sushi bar. I opted for a table near the fish tank. Service was great! I loved my server and she was super patient with me. I opted for the following: 1. Salmon Avocado Boat: the boat was deep fried with a salmon/cream cheese mix. I would say it lacked the salmon. It was mainly an avocado/cream cheese bomb. It was nice and creamy, but missed that bite. 2. No Coast Combo: the platter came with 5 nigiri and a california roll. The california roll has real crab and not imitation crab. It surprised me but it was good. The nigiri was delicious, my favorite was the salmon. However the black cod was the most interesting bite. The fish here is fresh and the service excellent. Today I had a soft-shell crab bowl. Very good with perfectly cooked crab. The star is always the gyozas for me. Today the peach gyozas were awesome. I sat at the sushi bar and the whole time none of the chefs spoke to me or even made eye contact! It was not busy so that is not a good excuse. They chatted and joked among themselves but seemed to care less about the customers, they made me feel unwelcomed as they ignored me the whole time. I haven't eaten there in about 7 years; the place has gone down hill. I will say the ladies serving were great but the chefs were not attentive or courteous. Josh and his team joined forces with First Street Tattoo, which is located next door, to host a fundraising benefit for the foundation. Not only did they go above and beyond and help raise close to $9000 for the foundation, the advertising and community awareness that followed, will be very beneficial to our mission as well. No Coast Sushi hosted a traditional Japanese brunch where a hefty percentage of the proceeds were donated to the foundation. The brunch was a 5 course meal. We just had a fabulous dinner at No Coast Sushi! We chose this place because they had a large selection of vegan options and we were not disappointed! We had veggie gyoza and tofu in miso sauce for appetizers- both were great. We also ordered the health nut and veggie sushi rolls, also very good. We ordered the Hibachi veggies which were so fresh and tasty! Our server was extremely attentive and did a great job. If we lived in this area, we would be regulars at this restaurant. we moved to GJ from the sushi mecca of the US (San Francisco-Bay Area) .. obviously we didn't expect to find a proper replacement for our neighborhood sushi restaurant (Sushi Zone-Livermore CA) but was pleasantly surprised by the downtown sushi restaurant (service .. quality .. ambience) .. looking at the Yelp review for NoCoast Sushi I was reluctant in trying this place for over 1-1/2 years (3-1/2 stars) .. finally stopped in for lunch last month and was really pleased with the results .. I followed up that visit by taking the real food critic (my wife) and she reinforced my opinion and wholeheartedly endorsed this spot as one to add to "our list" .. undoubtedly this will be the first of many visits and hope to see the Yelp rating rise to the "TOP" ... read more

The food is great. Service is great and the ambience is great. It is my family's favorite place in Grand Junction to get sushi.

For whatever reason I hadn't tried this place yet! They have a huge selection of sushi, and tons of it is vegan! I got the health nut roll and the wicked garden roll without jalapeños. They were both pretty good, I liked the health nut one better (probably cause I'm obsessed with avocado). Next time I'll request no cilantro. I was most excited about the sweet potato in the wicked garden but the flavor wasn't really coming through. It was about $35 for both rolls and in my experience that is pretty pricey for vegetarian sushi. I'll definitely be back one day to try more things on the menu and support local! There were a huge selection of drinks and cocktails that looked amazing too, so maybe we will do the indoor restaurant next time also (reservations preferred at this point based on door signage). read more

We went here for dinner on a Friday. We appreciated being able to make a reservation online, but that's about the only positive thing I can say. Three of us ordered ramen and it was terrible. They were trying to do some artsy version of ramen but it was barely edible. The chashu (pork belly) was just large cubes of fat. The noodles were undercooked and stuck together and the broth was not very good at all. We ordered the gyoza appetizer. It was $15 and included four gyoza with very bland dipping sauce. Our spider and California rolls were ok, but pretty small and sad looking (see other reviews). The service was decent. I don't blame servers who happen to work at overpriced, lousy restaurants. Four of us paid $122 before tip and we only drank water. We were one adult and three kids. We didn't order that much food and only ate about half of it. Take your chances going here, but you're likely to leave feeling hungry and upset from being ripped off. read more

First off, Shannon our server was great, literally one of the best servers that we have had in Grand Junction, very knowledgeable about the menu, checked in on us frequently and brought soda refills. The food was good some items were better than others. The lobster wonton special appetizer was good but needed a dipping sauce to go with it. Tuna Poke and Spicy Tuna Roll were excellent. Worst restaurant experience I've had in a very, very long time. And I'm the most forgiving, understanding diner!! The waitress was honestly terrible. She submitted our order wrong. Finally brought the correct order after an hour and a half. The food was sub-par and way smaller portions than previous visits. I've been to this restaurant several times over the years as a local resident of Grand Junction and I've never had any issues whatsoever. I decided to speak to the manager after some thought and she did absolutely nothing. She was extremely rude. Dismissive and told us we were lying. And dead flowers on the table....classy..... No Coast may be the hippest spot in Grand Junction right now. The ambience is young and energetic but still comfortable enough for a now - 35-year-old geezer like me. After enjoying a lunch here two weeks ago and tasting one of their seasonal specials, I returned for my birthday dinner to grab that seasonal special again before it was gone. Suffice it to say, if they ever bring back the Palisade peach and soft shell crab sushi or the Palisade peach cobbler gyoza dessert, they are a must! I have never been disappointed by any of their seasonal sushi or drinks. But our reliable go tos include the gyoza, tempura, and eggroll starters. For the entrées, the spicy noodles with any protein, pork Katsu, Ramen, dynamite shrimp, and a green salad are perfection every time. Add avocado to the salad and top it with a couple pieces of pork Katsu! The sushi chefs are well-trained and produce fresh, flawless fare. Our favorite sushi includes the KA roll, Trogdor, smelt roe topped with a quail egg, and the poison ivy. Not to be forgotten, the bartenders craft delicious cocktails; I always start with a perfect old fashioned that comes with a glacier of an ice cube. Took a quick trip out to Palisades from Georgetown and this was recommended by a local. She actually told me about two sushi restaurants owned by the same family (cousins) and said go to XYZ sushi in the downtown area bc it was 'cheaper but basically the same rolls'. I got the two mixed up...shouldn't have had that Pinky Marg at Fidel's...but I digress. We Uber'd over from Palisades and when I look at the prices I knew immediately we were at the wrong place (not to mention it wasn't in a cute downtowny-area. However, the price difference to Uber to the right one wouldn't have made sense...so we stayed. They sat us next to the amazing saltwater fish tank & it was beautiful. Super Nemo-vibes and kinda sad but if a fish should be yanked, at least it should have beautiful live corals floating and thriving. I thought the miso soup was fine-I read another review stating it was bland. It was not. I was grateful for the free miso in traditional style...no seaweed or tofu (American style). I ordered a Purple Haze-a bit sweet for me but I drank it all. I would ask for lite Chambord next time. My hubby and I ordered the Calamari appetizer. It was tender and delicious! The flavor was amazing. We are calamari snobs, having grown up on the coast. We ordered about 6 rolls and two Ahi Nigiri. The rolls were the Poison Ivy, the Oni, the KA, the Dragon, and a shrimp tempura roll. My husband is a seafood snob, again from where we've grown up. We have had sushi all over the country & Mexico and at the finest sushi houses in Denver (Maki Den, Sushi Den). This is the first time we loved every flavor, ate every bit, had no complaints. Was it expensive? YES. Was it worth it? YES It was creative and well-paired flavors. Black cod on sushi?! WHAT? But yes it was smoked and amazing. We both had desert: green tea passion fruit ice cream and the chi-tea crème brûlée...both fantastic. The consistency of the brûlée was not the same as a true brûlée but again, my hubby the snob, LOVED IT. And he who never would stomach my green tea mochi from our go/to place back home, finished all the remainder of my GT Passionfruit ice cream. My God, it was really a great meal. In this day and age if you're complaining about portion size, prices, wait times, etc...you've never worked in the business and you've never heard about how the economy has changed since the pandemic. We know food costs for restaurant owners has tripled..like everything else in this world. They're doing their best to survive in an almost impossible situation. So if your not willing to spend the money for quality, sustainably- sourced products, you maybe should make your own sushi at home & save the server's & bsns owner's time & efforts. I, for one, am grateful any time I get a good meal, at a fair price, with decent to high-end service. And in this case the server was REALLY great and knew how to do her job well. We have been to No Coast numerous times since it opened and two years ago we went and left because there was an obnoxious loud DJ; fortunately not the case Thursday 3/21. The food was very mediocre. My wife's spicy noodles that she has ordered several times before was drowning in a swamp of sauce so that the few veggies that were in the dish were limp and lost in the slurry which was all you could taste. It actually made her sick. I ordered a craft beer posted as a pint and a 12 oz bottle arrived. Then they backpedaled and said they hadn't posted changes yet. So 12 oz of IPA costs $8. My chicken Katsui was acceptable but the bed of 90% onions and a few asparagus was also coated with sauce. I had better in a subway station in Tokyo. The white star sushi roll was small but fairly tasty. 8 pieces at $16 = $2 per bite. Waitress was amenable but very new on the job. I've have had Japanese cuisine in Japan, Singapore and in many major American cities and tonight was a disappointing experience overall. So... we tried it again and will not be returning. FIrst - I love civic friendly places. No Coast sponsored a fundraiser for a local farmer who had been vandalized. They wanted to raise enough to get his greenhouse back in business (they use his produce). How wonderful is that!? We had a little of a bunch of things. The Negi Beef was divine. Thin slices of meat rolled around a bunch of scallions (the negi part of the recipe) - cooked with teriyaki sauce over a high enough heat to tenderize the scallions and give just a perfect bit of char to the edges of the meat and veg. Perfect. We had tobiko with quail egg. Sadly, it looked so good that I popped it in my mouth before I could get a picture. It was that wonderful combination of the crunch/pop of the tobiko with the creamy yummy of the egg yolk. We also had an order of eel nigiri - tasted great. Lastly, we had an order of tonkatsu - sauce on the side (I like to keep that pork cutlet nice and crunchy till we dip it and eat it). The pork was a generous cut - pounded thin and breaded/fried. It was exquisite. The thing is, this should be a simple dish, but so many restaurants try to tart it up and ruin it. Here is was perfect in its simplicity and perfect cooking. It was served with a veggie stir fry. I am used to tonkatsu being served with raw cut up cabbage and a squirt of the rich Japanese mayo. I prefer the cabbage/mayo to the veggies. But, that is what I grew up with, so it might not appeal to others. BEST THING EVER - they used great short grain rice and cooked it perfectly. Every grain was separate and toothsome - with just enough surface starch to allow you to pick up a nice chopstick full of rice. And - it compressed just right for the sushi. Service was friendly, welcoming, professional and just the right amount of unobtrusive. Our server was always there when we needed something, but never hovering. Yay! read more

I'm doing it. I'm giving No Coast 5 stars. Why? Because compared to every other lunch/dinner joint in Grand Junction proper, it kicks ass. People, lets be realistic here. We are in a desert FAR away from any ocean... which means this fish has a while to go before it gets on your plate. Teleportation hasn't magically been invented for whiny head-up-tushy folks who think they are still by an ocean. You are not Chewbacca and this is not Starwars. No Coast has realized these things, and has made the best out of what they've got, and with style. Salmon Sashimi may be my favorite sushi item, but I always order the rolls here. They have gotten so creative with their selection, that I don't even miss Sashimi. Favs: Poison Ivy roll (spruced up by one of their own), HIC roll, Dragon roll, KA roll, and Dynamite Shrimp. This was a chill spot. Pretty quiet when I arrived a little after 5pm and started to pick up when I left a little after 6pm. There seemed to be a large amount of wait staff and chefs for the low amount of guests. They had a nice amount of vegan options which were very delicious and flavorful. First of all, I'm new to Grand Junction. I moved here from Denver. So, this is my first official review of a GJ restaurant while living in GJ. I typically post pictures of everything I eat, so keep a look out as I see it and how it really is. My first thought of No Coast Sushi was exactly the name. Is there really sushi in the high desert? But, I've eaten plenty of sushi in Denver and have always had a great experience. Denver or Grand Junction, both are equally as far from the ocean as you can get. The portions are quite small for what I ended up paying. I can understand that there must be costs associated with shipping/delivering sushi fresh from someplace. Wednesday at 6:30p a DJ was setting up for done techno mix. Seaweed salad was great! A large bottle of Kirin made it just right. If you're craving some sushi, I'd point you to No Coast. Not impressed with this spot at all! The service was super slow and we watched several orders come in before we were even acknowledged. They were not busy at all but we were ignored over and over. Once we ordered we were then told that they ran out of rice and we couldn't order anything else with rice. We love sushi so much and we're really looking forward to some good food and a good experience, but this food is lacking flavor, in ridiculously small portions and not worth the price.
