Came back for dinner after 3 months and got the chicken karrage, Yaki Udon sub cabbage with lettuce (turned out to be a $1 up charge which was kinda weird) and shoyu ramen. They got new menus (book style). The dude who got us our water and who we ordered our apps left after we ordered, and then another waitress came over and asked what we wanted to order. So it wasn't very clear who our waiter was due to them not telling us. We also had to grab the waiters walking by a few times. I got my ramen 5 minutes before my bf got his udon (it came with miso soup but we had to get someone's attention to let them know we were missing it). We think they are under different management as the food tastes different and the food use to come out at the same time (yes I get wanting food to be hot and not sit in the window but it's weird eating before the other person). I saw this happen to a different table. There was a slight problem with my ramen. I let the waitress walking by and she was very polite and apologetic. So they did offer to remake it (I declined) and they took it off the bill and brought us free cheese cake. So they made it right so it shows that their staff was professional. I've been coming to this restaurant since they opened. They are on my short list of places to dine out, and I come here several times a month. I have found the menu to be diverse and interesting, and the quality of the sushi is actually outstanding. The ramen is top notch, and the chicken katsu is incredible. Staff is always attentive and running around, and the beer on tap is a good value. I have brought many folks here, and it is always a fun, upbeat atmosphere. 2025 and 2026 are bringing more competition in the sushi category, but I find this to be a more "overall" restaurant that is not entirely sushi focused, so it is a place that has something for everyone. This is a bummer of a review. The location and ambiance are ok, easy to find and very large seating area (both sushi bar and booths and tables). Food is the issue here. We tried appetizers and sushi rolls. I've not had the ramen so I can't comment on it but I won't be going back to try anything else. The appetizers are all subpar as is the sushi. - MISO SOUP - Meh. It was ok like a premade miso is and I tried but didn't finish. The seaweed and tofu in the broth were all disintegrating a bit so it reminded me of the grocery store box of miso - HAWAII POKE SALAD description includes salmon, tuna, yellowtail, avocado, scallions w/chefs special sauce - Reality was a few pieces of fish, mostly small cubed pieces of yellow squash, no avocado and definitely not a poke sauce of any kind. The fish smelled very fishy, do not recommend. - HAMACHI JALAPEÑO fresh yellowtail, jalapeño with ponzu sauce - same as above, smelled very fishy, edges had a little freezer burn or odd texture. Tried one piece, removed the jalapeños and gave the fish to our dogs - CHICKEN KARAAGE 12 pieces japanese deep fried marinated chicken with house sauce - Have eaten this at Japanese restaurants all over the country, do not recommend here. It was heavily breaded and not karaage. If you're fine with meh chicken tender type food you may like this. SUSHI ROLLS - SEXY ROLL spicy tuna and avocado, topped of seared tuna and spicy mayo and eel sauce - All of this seemed pre rolled. The seared tuna was really mushy and the spicy tuna was a premixed and not like any other sushi I've tried, in a disappointing way. - YELLOWTAIL ROLL - Again, maybe pre rolled? The fish was really mushy and smelled fishy, the seaweed wrap also was soft like this was something that had been sitting and absorbed water. Tried one piece and rest were dog treats. - SPICY TUNA ROLL - Same tuna filling as in sexy roll and overall inedible. To be fair, I've eaten sushi at other locations in GJ and recognize that this isn't Denver, which has excellent sushi restaurants even as a landlocked city, yet I expected it to at least be edible. Overall I felt really disappointed and bummed that this was money spent on a meal outside the home. Based on what we tried today, I can't imagine the ramen is better than what can be made at home with good broth and basic ingredients. I've been coming here for about 2 years now , the staff is very kind and makes sure you like the food , the food is very yummy. The bathrooms are super clean and they are very thoughtful , they have perfume , feminine hygiene products and floss in the women's bathroom . From the drinks the mango lemonade and brown sugar boba are delish , I enjoy the grand junction roll for sushi and the veggie miso soup for ramen. Today, my husband and had lunch here. I had heard some mixed reviews and wasn't in hurry to try it. But, it was much, much better than I had expected. First - I will say I would never order sushi here just because I am a traditional/old-fashioned sushi girl (if Jiro doesn't dream of it - I am not interested in eating it). We started with the grilled tofu appetizer. Loved it! There was a spicy (I'm going to call it) BBQ rub on top. Then slivered scallions and soy sauce. It was fun and very flavorful. No bland tofu here! I had tonkotsu ramen. True to it's definition, it was a very rich broth with pork belly (grilled with a char, but must have been slow cooked before hand - very tender), bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, bok choy, and a soft egg. I am used to the egg being a 6 minute soft boiled egg that has had the shell removed and then the egg marinated in soy, mirin and sake. This was a poached egg. I have no complaint. The broth was very flavorful and the noodles still had a bit of bounce. It was too much food for me, but I took the remainder home. My husband had the unagi don. Not a traditional representation, but very tasty. In this case, it was sliced unagi (from the sushi bar, I guess) on top of rice. Normally, you get a big bowl of rice with grilled unagi (hot from the grill) on top. Then, unagi sauce is drizzled over. This looked more like an appetizer. BUT -- it was tasty. And, at our stage of life, it was more than plenty of food. His dish started with miso soup. It was good - but I am not used to miso soup in a shallow bowl with a spoon. The restaurant itself is quite attractive with widely spaced tables, low tables and high tops. Service was very attentive, friendly and helpful. I would recommend everything but the sushi. But - if you do like sushi swimming in sauces, using cream cheese, and/or fried - go for it. read more
