Came from out of town to find a paper sign on the door that says closed at 3pm. So not cool.

Counter service restaurant. We didn't wait too long, the rolls were delicious, plentiful and the whole meal was a great value!

My fave is the Dynamite Roll (shrimp tempura, cream cheese topped with jalapeno, sriracha, masago, spicy mayo and eel sauce)...seriously...it's DYN-A-MITE!!!! Always get the edamame...reg or spicy (prefer the spicy but both are good!). Recently ordered the chicken fried rice and it was so delicious! The wine makes us happy because they provide a generous pour for your money unlike many other local restaurants. Bottom line, the food is fresh and incredible...service is always impeccable! But the real 5+ stars about Hiro is all about the owners and staff. They are professional and kind (with a lovely touch of humor) and ALWAYS make you feel like you're an extension of their family. Sometimes hero's don't always wear capes, because the real Hiro's here lie within the strong bond and passion this family has for their restaurant. You know how much I love to support local businesses and this is no exception...Howard and his wife Dewi offer a unique and quintessential restaurant that is much needed in our community. Highly recommend so be sure to Check them out!

It was an easy walk from our hotel, which was perfect because it was late, we were tired, and we were hungry. From the outside, it's connected to the Ramada and doesn't necessarily look like a fancy steakhouse. But once you walk in, it has a nice Japanese-style vibe. They also have an outdoor patio with market lights that would probably be great in warmer weather. It was mid-March and cold, so nobody was sitting outside. The young man who greeted us at the front was fantastic -- very friendly and super helpful. We grabbed menus and sat near the bar for a few minutes while deciding what to order. Inside, it's set up like a traditional hibachi steakhouse with several tables where chefs cook right in front of you. There were four hibachi stations and three of them were already full when we arrived, which tells you the place is pretty popular. I only saw one chef at the time, though, and a couple more groups came in while we were waiting for our food, so hopefully they had more chefs coming on -- otherwise that could turn into a long wait. I ordered the hibachi ribeye, which came with vegetables, fried rice, and a salad. The ribeye was tender and cooked perfectly. The vegetables (carrots, mushrooms, and zucchini) were really good. The fried rice was decent but could have used a little more seasoning. The salad looked pretty basic at first -- mostly iceberg lettuce with half a cherry tomato hiding at the bottom -- but I wanted to try the ginger dressing. That dressing was actually delicious and tasted homemade, and I ended up eating the whole thing. My husband ordered one of their combo bowls with chicken and fried rice, which he said was very good. He chose the miso soup instead of salad, and that was the only miss of the meal. It didn't really taste like the traditional miso soup we're used to. Overall, the food was very good and the service from the host made a great first impression. If we pass through Grand Junction again, we'd definitely consider stopping here again.

We had a wonderful dinner. The ambience and decor is very fresh, unique, young, modern. We loved sitting next to the fish tank. Our server, Bailey, created a wonderful experience for us. My favorites were the salmon avocado boats and the surf and turf roll. Lots of creative uses of textures and flavors. We LOVED the crunchy leek topping. I tried something new with the sunset roll (raw scallop) and i didn't like it but glad I had the opportunity to try. A must visit restaurant.

Service was great! I loved my server and she was super patient with me. I opted for the following: 1. Salmon Avocado Boat: the boat was deep fried with a salmon/cream cheese mix. I would say it lacked the salmon. It was mainly an avocado/cream cheese bomb. It was nice and creamy, but missed that bite. 2. No Coast Combo: the platter came with 5 nigiri and a california roll. The california roll has real crab and not imitation crab. It surprised me but it was good. The nigiri was delicious, my favorite was the salmon. However the black cod was the most interesting bite. Just for these two items with a 18% tip was $54. Its definitely a splurge. Took pictures of the menu to give a good idea of how much it cost to dine here.

He's choosing to wait because he's a good partner, but also to not let them get away with this awful service. I called being nice and calm, just to see what was going on, if we could maybe get a discount, and they said there was nothing they could do. Instead of talking to me they motioned my husband over and GAVE him the phone to talk to me! Which was very disrespectful. My husband also listened to the workers loudly arguing for costumers to hear! Expect long unaccommodating unprofessional service. Never in my life have I EVER been to a restaurant this unprofessional. Especially for just a pick up order! We will never eat here ever again. I wouldn't even recommend Yama sushi to my worst enemy!

I was there for several minutes as several employees walked by and didn't even look at the waiting customers. Kind of strange because there were several empty tables and seats at the sushi bar. The service was a bit slow despite having a lot of employees working. Some we just standing around and chatting with each other. The fish was fresh, but the portions were very small. Some of the roles were creative and tasty. The prices were high in my opinion, about 50% higher than what I'm use to in Phoenix. I understand this a tourist town, so I kind of expected this. This is probably a place that I will not return to.

The atmosphere was one of my favorite parts--great lounge-style music and a relaxed, laid-back vibe. The service isn't the fastest, but it works and fits the pace of the restaurant. We ordered the Rainbow Bridge Roll, Spicy Yellowtail Cut Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll. The shrimp tempura was my favorite because of its delicious crunch, while the spicy yellowtail had a nice kick. The rolls were fresh and tasty, though they were a little on the lighter side, so if you're really hungry you may want to order extra food. They also have a small selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. My husband loved the ginger beer. Overall, a decent spot for sushi in Moab.
