The customer service there is phenomenal. I've been coming here for decades, and everyone is wonderful.

I love this store. The staff are hard-working, pleasant, and always helpful. Checkout is fast and they bag for me, which is nice since I'm not getting any younger! The veggies are fresh, the baked goods they create are wonderful--there's a strawberry-filled layer cake that I save up calories for, and the meat is fresh and what I'm looking for. All in all, it's my go-to place for groceries. (I can't forget to give kudos to the flower area!) read more

Just found out about an experience that my mother and brother had while shopping last week. What happened to the original staff? Did you fire everyone and bring a bunch of underpaid jerks? They were rude and standoffish. One cashier started and argument with my brother over how was not unloading the cart right? What the heck? Needless to say they will no longer be shopping there. Mom's been going to that location for over 30 years. Spending upwards of $200 to 300 a week. Your new business model is going to fail. read more

Horrible service. The black girl who wears a mask was the rudest person I've ever come in contact with in a service industry. She was trying to open the little box where people put contributions for the hungry or what have you and I was standing in line nobody was there at her register so I moved over there and she pushed my groceries back and said wait while she tried to open this little box when she had a live customer standing in front of her. Beyond rude. Never smiles never says thank you Just all the way around rude. Will never shop there unless it's absolutely necessary and I will use the self check out to avoid the abuse. read more

This store is definitely one that we will not support any longer after many years shopping there for convenience only (store close to our home). Employees are so rude, never acknowledging customer's presence, charging extra very often, so often that we don't leave the store without checking our receipts (without even apologizing) and sometimes forgetting the cash back. The list could go on and on. We have decided to never go back and every employee at Nob Hill Napa should get a pre-employment training to be polite and concentrate on not overcharging customers. read more

This used to be our go-to grocery store (since our apartment was right across the street)... still pop in when in the area, primarily for the nice bakery breads (their sourdough, olive loaves, and roasted garlic breads are very good!) But they also have a better selection of produce than our local Safeway does (and better prices, for the most part, too) read more

I love this store for so many reasons... but the people really make this a special place. I want to recognize the Sushi Chef Tu who exceeds my expectations on a daily basis. He is so friendly and always goes out of his way to make your order timely and to perfection. Tonight, I had a wonderful experience with Oscar in the Seafood/Meat Department. I was searching for oysters and possibly liver to increase my Iron levels. Oscar was not only friendly and helpful... but he was so kind and empathetic regarding my current health needs. He took the time to hear me and provide a positive message. Oscar is a real Gem and the light I truly needed tonight. This review is towards the "manger" on how rude she is. Not only did I return back to the store bc my husband found a hair in he apple danish he was eating but her attitude was beyond annoying. I love everyone in this store and I have always for years but she has now made me so uncomfortable to even go in there that I am either reduce to grocery pickup or just go to another store completely. I told her this that day I was there. That they lost a customer but I know she did not give a Sh$t!!! Bc I am only one person. But I will go there one more time to see my favorite people to explain why they won't see me there anymore, it's bc they have a manager there that SUCKS. Our neighborhood grocery store! I've been coming here since I was little and now that I live so close, it's my go to! Firstly, I really appreciate that they are open until 10 pm, sometimes 11 pm at night. Unless you're going to the Safeway here, everything else closes super early and if you work late or have a lot going on it's nice to be able to do that late night shopping or pick up at Nob Hill. They always have a good selection on whatever you're looking for. The bakery has great little deserts and the produce section is always stocked and very fresh. Some of the employees have been there since I can remember, which says a lot. Always stocked up on ice and plenty of firewood as well. This is the first grocery store in town when coming in from the east, like Berryessa so in more recent years with fires it's good to know your first stop in town can be getting the essentials. One star for the deli. Don't go there if Lynn is on shift. Just don't do it. She complains about being too old to do stuff. She told me she couldn't make my sandwiches because her hands hurt too much and needed a break. She said I'll have to wait or just go somewhere else. I took her advice and went next door. Save yourself the attitude and disrespect and food poisoning because Lynn will give it all to you. She used to work the deli counter at Safeway and I stopped shopping there because of her. Nob Hill Foods was close to our Air BnB and ended up being the perfect spot for us to go food shopping/grab last minute things. I will say the prices aren't cheap, but being in Napa it is pretty much what I expected. No shocker they have a great selection of wines to pick from. We stocked up before we had a chance to get to any wineries and it was perfect for that evening. Their cheese selection was on point as well as their cured meats. Really your standard higher end grocery store. Perfect if you are just visiting, but maybe not someplace you want to spend at every week. This is the LAST time we are buying roasted chicken here or any prepared food! Several times the chicken has been slightly undercooked, but today it was WAY too undercooked even the breast was bloody!!! We live 25 min away and by the time we're here and see the condition of the chicken it's too late to drive all the way back! We literally are having to further cook this chicken to eat it!! They charge for bags! Why? When others like Safeway and Trader Joe's are not. The manager Peter said they have to. I said ok that's fine if you are hard up for money when everyone is struggling. But you need to tell your cashiers to ask if that's the case. He said that I have to tell the cashier not to bag my items. By the time you turn your head the guy is already bagging your items. He said tell them to take them out if they going to charge me for the bags. I'm ok with no bags. I have my own bags in the car. This score is strictly for the deli. I was served (after a gruelingly long wait) by Angelica. There were 2 people in line and I thought, this shouldn't take very long. What a wrong assumption. I'm guessing the line was even longer before I arrived because the person in front of me said to himself, "screw this" and left. I should have taken that as a sugn. After 17 minutes (no exageration I sent my girlfriend a pic of the menu so I knew how long it had been) she finally finished the single sandwhich the customer in front of me ordered. Finally I'm next. NOPE. to the left of me, a few had customers gathered to order on the other counter, waaaay after I had arrived. Angelica proceeded to help them 1st even when I said I was here 1st. This place is awful. I live nearby so I always try to shop here- but their organic vegetable section is pathetic and they have NO organic/ sustainable meats. I ask specifically for them and they are always mysteriously out. All they have is foster farms trash. I hate going to Whole Foods and dealing with the parking situation there- but having quality foods is just too important. Don't shop here if you care about what you're eating. read more

This is my favorite place to go grocery shopping when I'm in Napa. They have it all. Is it the cheapest store in town? Not by a long shot. That being said, they're still more reasonably priced than Whole Foods. What I dig about Nob Hills Market is that they always have everything I need - whether it's gourmet food, chips/salsa, fresh fruit, booze, or a deli sandwich. On my most recent Napa visit, they were the only place in town where we could buy an ice cooler. Not even Rite-Aid (which is next door) had one. All the employees are super friendly and helpful. They don't look miserable and borderline postal like the workers at my neighborhood Safeway. The store lay-out is pretty and clean. The check-out lines are never insanely long. Nob Hill Foods is just a good, well-managed market that's always there when you're in a pinch. read more

I'm really not sure why there were such poor reviews written for Nob Hill. Boyfriend and I live right around the corner from the place and lately we have been walking with our reusable bags to go get groceries (which I think is just super cute). The first time we went, the man at the register was so friendly. The elderly woman who was with us in life didn't get a lemon that was stuck on the conveyor belt. The man told the bag boy to run out and give the lemon to her for free. When he helped us, we told him we were new to the neighborhood and he gave us an aisle guide, with a list of each aisle and what items could be found in that aisle. Good selection of food, beer, and wine. They have a seafood deli, which is great, and also a meat deli that serves both meats and sandwich meats/cheese. They also have turkey pastrami, our favorite. Prices are good, without the hassle of a member card like Safeway, and the store has been very neat and organized every time we have gone. I know boyfriend and I are going to continue to come here for our shopping needs. read more

I have been doing e-cart since I hurt my knee last year and can't walk around the store and am too embarrassed to use the electric cart (plus buying for a family of 7 - I have too much stuff to buy for the electric cart). I love the e-cart staff. They know me by name and before the COVID-19 crisis, were so careful to get what I wanted. Now, I completely understand they are overwhelmed and I am just so appreciative of their work and service. Absolute WORST food store possible. They forefront themselves to be organic and authentic however they are as close to fake as they can get, AND OVER PRICED. I asked a Deli man for a good "Goats Cheese" and his reply was, I didnt think they made anything but Cows Cheese........ Horrible Prices, SHITTY so called FRESH BREAD at 7am, and honestly Poor STAFF! I get home at 802 am and the bread is hard as a rock. When I called as spoke to the Manager, he noted, there was fiasco! His words were "sorry mam, but theres nothing we WILL DO FOR YOU!" How much do I love Nob Hill Foods? So much, I had forgotten, until I went back in after a long hiatus. They have the freshest produce, clean aisles, and great cashiers/employees. This has been my go to grocery store for the last 15+ years. The employees are always extremely helpful and kind and actually recognize customers that frequent the store. Prices are comparable to any other grocery store in the area and in my opinion they have an overall well rounded selection of goods. The store is always clean and updated leaving it to be a much more pleasurable shopping experience. Another thing I love is I never have issues with parking. I almost always park right up front. It's also nice that they have redbox inside now. I will continue to shop at this grocery store above others in the area. read more

Maryella, was beyond rude to me when I last visited the store a few days ago. I had my well behaved dog in the shopping cart with a little seat for his bum. He was wearing a red vest. Maryella then screamed at me, saying no dogs are allowed in the store! My dog is a service animal. But she was rude to assume he wasn't a service dog! I politely asked if I could just pay for my items at the register. She then said, yeah, this is your first and last time! She looked me up and down and proceeded to talk with another employee. I was appalled. Never been treated with such disrespect from a cashier clerk at the grocery store. Normally, I like to write five star reviews, but unfortunately they lost a valuable customer, and lives in the neighborhood. Sick a shame. My dog is my everything and goes everywhere I go. Just returned from Nob Hill Napa CA store where again l was treated as a special customer. I am getting used to that , but today was even more so, as l was looking around Mary came by and asked if she could help me find something. I said l had been down one or two aisles looking for soaps. She told me where they were and in a few minutes she came back past me , l guess returning from a quick break, and insisted in taking me to the aisle where l found my Cascade and was about to pick it up when she pointed out the discontinued packets and how the price had dropped. I would not have noticed that as l have Macular Degeneration. I appreciated it and asked her name. Mary she said and l asked who the manager was and she said Pete. So Pete l want you to know how Mary not only gave me good customer service, but went a step further and l really appreciated her help. Love Nob Hill and though l live at the other end of town l drive to Nob Hill because l feel good not only when l get quality products especially meat and produce, but the special treatment by your people . Well worth passing other stores closer to my home, for people like Mary and some other checkers as well whose names l don't get due to eye sight. read more

I have long since been a Whole Foods disciple. But that being said, sometimes pulling in and out of Bel Aire Plaza and trying to find a parking space is just a huge hassle. I know my limitations and since there is no sense in allowing myself to get frustrated when I know I am just not up to the task, I like to have options. Nob Hill offers me an option. I started coming here a little over two years ago when I moved from downtown Napa to north Napa. Initially, the amount of organic and vegan options was very limited. And what options they did have were very overpriced - sometimes as much as double what the Napa Whole Foods charged. But the parking lot is never full, there is a Jamba Juice and a Hi Tech Burrito restaurant next door, and it is right next to my dry cleaners. So, I continued to pop in once in a while and these last two years I have seen their organic options - especially in produce and the bulk section improve drastically. In fact, their organic romaine is the same price as Whole Foods and is often better. Their small vegan section has also grown, though it is still very pricey. It does at least have some cheez and faux meat options. Though not organic, their Sunnyside almond milk is exceptional and priced very well. Though their tetra paks of non-dairy milk are not cost effective yet. With all of these improvements, there are a couple reasons why I will not rate Nob Hill above a three. First, the service. I have experienced everything from good, solid service to some of the absolute worse. And there is no rhyme or reason for why. Sadly, as the options improve, the service seems to get worse. Second, no organic or vegan options in the deli, prepared foods or bakery departments. Third, the self check out registers. It is more often than not that after ringing up an item or two, the system gives me a message that I need to see a staff member to continue. And 8 times out of 10, there is no staff member to be seen. Two or three times, I have either just left the few items I was trying to purchase and literally left the store or I have scooped up my items and lugged them over to a register with a cashier leaving the self check out register in the middle of a transaction. As much as I like having options though, if the service continues to go downhill, I won't be able to spend my money here. read more
