Hangry after an estate planning session at the Almaden community center on my way home, I got some deli food items at Nob Hill foods to eat for a quick bite before going home in San jose traffic. I ate pretty quickly and then felt some hair during my 3rd to last piece. On the last 2 pieces there was a piece of hair stuck on both of them. I was saddened and couldn't finish it. It's not a restaurant so I wasn't sure if they'd care but I thought I'd tell a cashier in case they wanted to go check the other sushi. They actually refunded me for the whole sushi. I am located here in the plaza and always stop by when I need something for my shop. David is super nice and I always go to him.

Service is good. However, I will not shop here again as Nob Hill/Raleys offers special pricing but in order to get that price you have to download their app, set up a user name/password. Then you have to access their list of items that are at a special price FOR THAT WEEK and then "clip" that item. If you are going to offer a lower price it should be available WITHOUT giving up your identity or the additional hassle. I used to shop here regularly, but I'm done. I will continue to shop at Trader Joe's for their uncomplicated and straight forward pricing. No trickery at TJ's. read more

The store is clean and it's my neighborhood store so I come here every week. The cashiers are great and fast. The part that isn't great is the bakery. I've come for two days in a row now and am told no one is working and to try again. I just wanted a simple cake order but was refused and then told they had to go on break. The bakery makes these little Aussie Bites that are pretty good. I buy them every week and take a couple in the morning with a cup of coffee or Almond Milk. They are small and packed with Omega 3's. They hit the spot without getting full and slowing me down. They get me ready for the day and do recommend them to all of you that enjoy the lite breakfast meal. There is so much potential, but there have been so many letdowns over the past five years. I originally intended to write this review about six months after moving into the area. My initial impression of this Nob Hill was very favorable and part of the reason I considered buying a home in the area. I'm glad I waited to write this review about fivers on now so I can better speak to the consistent and inconsistent things of this store. The good: - The store has always been clean and very well organized - There has been one consistent crew of cashiers that have usually been friendly and engaging (it must be a very tough job to be there each day. I really appreciate their work. - The deli crew have always been VERY nice and engaging - Most staples are easily available, but also this is part of the issue...see below What could be better: - The alcohol is dramatically over-priced and has been for years. It is seriously a better value going to a small liquor store than buying from Nob Hill (unless you purchase SIX of the same bottles of wine, for example) - Additionally, the beer has basically been the same exact selections for five years and I marvel at how that can be. There are so many new brands, types, blends, and microbrews, yet each time I walk down the aisle, I wonder how small local stores have a more varied selection than a major supermarket. In the back of my mind, I have wondered if the alcohol buyer even drinks - For whatever reason, the fresh fruit and veggies are again pretty much always the same, seem to go bad, and are less tasty than Safeway or Costco. All in all, I prefer the local Safeway near Cottle as a store but not their experience. There is rampant theft there and the parking lot is a mess with so many other busy businesses in the same area. This place opened at 6am and I made a trip in to ask for a cake box at the bakery section, I didn't mind if I had to pay for it since Michael's or Whole Foods didn't open until 9am and yes it's an odd request. The Vietnamese lady and the gentleman in the bakery section were rude about my simple request, they firmly said no we don't sell individual cake boxes nor did they help me think of an alternative solution. My first trip into this grocery store was very positive but the employees in the bakery section need some training on their customer service. They also didn't approach the counter to speak with me directly and went back to work. There was no empathy or genuine care, disappointing experience. read more

It's been about a month since my last order (I was in the hospital, now back home) but Javier as always provided me with another excellent grocery delivery experience. My order wasn't too large but I greatly appreciated his kind and helpful assistance to bring the bags into my kitchen. Thanks, Javier, and thank you also to manager Lex Madden and the rest of the hardworking Apium team! My order fulfillment man today was Brian, who has helped me in the past. I received notification from Corporate that they were beginning to collect the items in my order, and soon after that Brian texted me. Both notified me of a few items not in stock so I provided Brian with my acceptance of the alternate items I requested when placing my order He was able to provide substitutions for one of three items, and even located more of one item the was originally ou of stock (perhaps it was delivered to the tore during the fulfillment process). I was very happy to receive almost everything in my order today. Thanks for all your hard work and additional walking, Brian. And thank you for your kindness and care. I am once again grateful that i have such a great team in Nob Hill Foods San Jose Snell store employees as well as the Apium division that delivers it to my home.. Thank you also to Corporate, field workers who pick some of the fresh fruits and vegetables, truckers who bring it to this store, my favorite. I have been shopping at this Nob Hill for 16 years and I love it. When they went on strike one time I was forced to shop elsewhere and it was awful. The store is aways clean, well stocked and parking is easy. One time I lost my wedding ring there an employee had put it in the safe, that shows how honest they are. . The thing I like most are the employees. My favorites are (in no particular order): Kerry Dave Humberto Laurie Carlos (bagger) They should be acknowledged for their hard work, great customer service and loyalty to the company.
