Something made me think about Katz's Delicatessen in NYC and I suddenly craved a Pastrami sandwich. I was excited to find Mirchi nearby and a locally beloved pastrami with interesting ingredients. Location is near the Mirchi cafe on Fremont Blvd in the plaza right next to Wonderland smoke shop. There is plenty of parking. Staff was super nice and helped me open the stuck door that you have to pull really hard on to get in. The market is small but curated and I was drawn to the imported potato chips. I picked up a bag of Lay's Masala chips I haven't had since I was in Mumbai, excited to eat it with my sandwich. The sandwich took about 10 minutes to make and panini-press and smelled delicious. However, when I got home I immediately noticed the color and thought they had mistakenly used roast beef. I looked at some of the other reviews and their doordash image and I'm confused on what I got. The pastrami was missing the distinct reddish-pink color from brining and black bark from smoking, I'm not sure how it was prepped in-house but it tasted like roast beef. Got this place recommended by Grub with Mike so I decided to come give them a try. I ordered the mozzarella chicken and grabbed a cold peach soda. They are very nice and welcoming, service was pretty fast too. The sandwich is was warm and it's cooked panini style. The bread was warm and crunchy, filled with halal chicken and some sort of mild spicy red sauce. Overall very tasty, solid 8/10. (The sandwich needs be hotter so that the cheese can actually melt). Buys: Knorr Chatt Patta spicy flavored instant ramen noodles (6/5.99) made in Pakistan by Unilever. -serving size 1.76 oz vs. 3oz. For Indomie, a popular Indonesian instant noodle brand. Almost 40% less for 2X price. -noodle isn't spicy hot. More peppery & earthy. Taste is ok but not worthy pricewise. Service was courteous but not immediate. Cashier was also cutting meat in the back. Hands down the yummiest pastrami sandwich I've had. Yelp reeled me in with a picture I saw on yelp I had to try! I was pleasantly surprised with delicious combo of the filllings! Discovered this spot on Yelp while craving hot sandwiches during late pregnancy and stopped by after a prenatal appointment. It's tucked in a small plaza so it may be easy to miss, and doubles as a deli and Indian market with speciality items and fresh halal meat that you order by the pound. The sandwiches are made with fresh to order. My husband and I got the roast beef and pastrami sandwiches. The sauces really made the sandwich and complimented the meat quite nicely. I would never think to pair jam with pastrami but it's a combo that works. You get the sweetness of both the jam and caramelized onions with the saltiness of the pastrami. 10/10 recommend getting both and sharing the split sandwich with someone. The seating, though, is very limited--a small counter with 2-3 stools in the back--so it's definitely best to take your food to go. Unfortunately, the service left something to be desired. One guy at the counter seemed unsure how to interact with customers, which made the experience a bit awkward. Wasn't sure if he was employed there or a family member. Either way, he wasn't helping the other two employees and just kept talking to them while we stood there waiting for someone to greet us or take our order. Easily one of the best pastrami Sammies I have ever had. I'm rarely ever on this side of Fremont and took me forever to get here from Union City due to all the stoplights and traffic but wanted to meet a friend who was coming from the 680 side of Milpitas. Been wanting to try them out since I follow them on TikTok so I dropped the pin to the spot. The Sammie: bro, the saltiness of the fresh, hot, tender, melt in your mouth pastrami balancing with the sweet you get from the berry jam was very unexpected and topping it off with the spicy crunch you get from the peppercinis and the melted comfort you get from the sliced Swiss cheese all held together with the perfect slices of bread truly puts it all together and was pretty amazing. I'm on a hunt for a great Pastrami sandwich. I usually get it from the usual sandwich places but they're just not as satisfying especially if you've been to "The Hat" which you'll find only in SoCal. A couple of places I've tried were even disappointing... not enough meat that you could barely taste the pastrami. They try to make up for it by adding more lettuce, tomatoes, onions and everything else, but I really just want the pastrami on a roll... maybe with cheese. So I found Mirchi during a search and decided to go out of my way to see what everyone's talking about and we actually enjoyed it. Different. The place was a former small liquor store, so now they reuse the fridge area to keep cold drinks, have some shelves for chips, and 6 tables to eat. Unfair, but i am comparing to top delis around the bay like little Lucca's in castro valley and Lucca's in SSF, and this place falls short for prove comparison and for quality of the bread. The dutch crunch was not crunchy, the $30 godfather did not have enough mayo and olive oil, and the $15 turkey sandwich did not have the garlic sauce i get from other places. At this price point, i expect a little more. The really big tall guys behind the counter are cool, but not much more service than simple greetings, so good enough. Ordered the achari chicken sandwich hot over the phone. It was ready within 15 minutes. The sandwich itself was really good, the chicken was juicy, the achari sauce or seasoning was just spicy enough. Also price was good for what I got. We've always seen this place and finally decided to try it! The deli is in a little grocery store that sells other Asian goods and meat. The inside is small and there is no place to sit, but the order is prepared within 15 minutes. Upon entry we were greeted and asked what we would like to order. The menu wasn't too big, but each sandwich was different and sounded very tasty. It was hard to make a decision, but we decided on the Pastrami Sandwich, that they're known for, and the Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich. The Pastrami Sandwich had melted cheese, banana peppers, and blueberry jam, which sounds like a weird combination, but it definitely worked! The Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich had roasted bell peppers, spinach, and mushrooms. Each sandwich was nicely toasted in a panini press. The Pastrami Sandwich was sweet from the jam and had a nice tangy bite from the banana peppers. Their quaint menu made it easier for an indecisive person like me to pick, but all the yummy options made it difficult to ultimately choose. I ended up picking the Mozzarella & Chicken and my coworkers picked the Pastrami sandwich. Sandwiches were made at the spot and took around 20 minutes for three of them. We took them to Lake Elizabeth for a quick little picnic and all sandwiches stayed warm and toasty. Super yummy and perfect for a cheese pull pic Parking was also relatively easy. There were many spots and if not, there is a plaza close by with other parking spots. We took a ride and pulled into an unassuming strip mall. As we walked in to the old school deli I whispered to my wife I hope this place is good it smells delicious. We both ordered pastrami with the berry jam on the side. It has no tables so we took our grub home. Sandwich had no taste at all, very bland. I ordered a Turkey BLT and Avocado and was immediately told they didn't have turkey. After looking at the menu it looks as though they never have turkey so why have that sandwich with turkey. Either way it didn't change the overall review of the sandwich, I ate half and tossed the rest. This is my visit to this place, and I was looking for a specific type of pickle, but when I started walking around, I was totally amazed at how friendly and cleaned this meat shop is. Sorry but most of the desi meat shops have a smell, and it's hard to walk around. Everything was clean. Fresh meat, deli sandwich area, cooked frozen food were inside the covered areas. They have all the basic grocery stuff. People who worked there were amiable and helpful. It's about 40 mins far from my home, but honestly, it's worth driving. So, I read the reviews. Wanted to try their pastrami since they smoke it themselves!! (In Fremont no less!) Unfortunately, my point of comparison is NY Jewish deli's. It was good, but not great. The pastrami was not spicy enough. It was not much different from a smoked beef. Their rub is too bland for my taste. On the positive side, they are still a good sandwich shop. Also, my local safeway does not have lamb all the time. They do-- and at a good price. I'll be back, but not for the pastrami. read more

WOW I don't even remember the last time I had a sliced meat deli sandwich, since there has been no place that serves halal sandwiches in the area. (I also am in SF 80% of the time and have not discovered a place) The place has a nice vibe to it. There is organic halal meat on the right where you can buy per pound. Left is where you can order your yummy sandwiches, fresh juices coffee and tea.. I only tried the sandwiches (pastrami and the achar) both AMAZING. I also got a free cookie for waiting..I will be coming back soon and will try the coffee as well. Since there was a lady there saying that this is one of the best coffees she had in a while! If you like lamb, call before hand, because it is not always in stock. They also have Mirchi Cafe patties. It is a lifesaver to have in the freezer on your busy days.
