I tried the bandeja paisa and my favorite item was definitely the steak it was very flavorful and soft to my delight! The beef inside of the frijolada dish is absolutely amazing and flavorful as well. Chorizo was a bit off, beef empanadas were just okay and I expected the pan de bono to be a bit more authentic this is really why they were deducted stars. I really want to give 2.5 stars, but I'm nice so I rounded up. Went on a sunday early afternoon, place was packed! Snagged a table awkwardly placed in the middle of the walkway in the center of the restaurant. We didn't mind, but nobody came over to us for a while despite the fact that everybody passed by us several times. Finally , without a hello or a "sorry for the wait", somebody, who turned out to be Stephanie the waitress, came over and took our orders. She had a slight attitude but I figured it was because she was overwhelmed. However, as flustered as you may feel, it's never a good idea to let it show to the guests, it makes us feel uncomfortable! I asked for plain grilled chicken and veggies with no sauce. She said "well it comes with a garlic sauce" and I said, very politely, "can I just have it plain without sauce?" And she rolled her eyes and barely nodded. Eeek, I've pissed off Stephanie already. Chicken came with puddles of oily stuff and it was super salty so I took it to go and ordered a small house salad instead. Really, really don't know why this is 4 stars. The pro's are that the portions are indeed HUGE. 1 plate can probably fill 2 average eaters. The prices for the portion are pretty good too. For apps had the empanada and the cheesy bread (pandebono). empanada was pretty good and the pandebono was ok. For entrees had : bandeja paisa (meat combo) - chorizo was pretty good, the fried pork belly was tasty, but too chewy, rice and beans were good, and the carne asada was chewy but had great flavor. pechuga a la columbiana (grilled chicken in wine mushroom sauce) - seriously. this tastes like chicken in alfredo sauce. seriously cannot tell the difference. could've sworn i was eating in an italian joint. I mean it's not bad, but i didnt come here to eat italian. Lomo a la placha (breaded pork loin) - first off, it wasnt breaded. secondly, it tasted like i bought a pork chop at the supermarket and cooked it on the stove. SERIOUSLY. wtf? The maduros (fried sweet plantains) that come with the dishes are pretty tasty while the tostones (fried green plantains) really lack flavor. I don't each much Columbian and if this is what good Columbian tastes like, then that's the last time i eat Columbian. I've been to many colombian restaurants in new york city and have yet to find one as good as this one. Their must have include: pan de bono, empanaditas, passion fruit juice and of course, the traditional bandeja paisa. They provide outstanding and fast service. I went at a time that wasn't packed (2pm on a Saturday) and the servers were all very attentive. The pan de bono is literally to die for! We love ordering some to go. And you will also be having some leftovers for the next couple of days because the portions are huge. read more

My husband and I stumbled upon this place one night since it's literally a block away from our house. Absolutely loved the place! Me encanta este restaurante!!! At first it was a little awkward because my hub and I were the only non Hispanic guests there.. We were seated right away, ordered our food and they came out so quickly. My skirt steak was perfect and my husbands steak with onions was superb (I feel like they use either a whole onion or more for the topping). I wish I can add pictures to my review.. it was an awesome place. We also got complimentary bread as we were leaving. I guess it was the left over (unused) bread since they were closing. It's also BYOB, I had to call them to confirm that info. The only downside is that if you call, they don't speak English and only speak Spanish. My husband called and immediately handed me over the phone lol. This place will be our new favorite spot in our neighborhood. It was such a wonderful dinning experience!! This is a great place to come for a casual outing; the food is amazing, everything is very, very fairly priced, especially for what you get, and the vibe is laid-back and family-friendly. I really like their steak with calentado (a rice, bean, sauce mixture); the portion is huge, everything is fresh and delicious, and it comes with half an avocado to boot. How much could you take before you completely drop a restaurant? This place tested how much patience I had and it's been years but I can't stress it anymore. The food is truly great sometimes they'll have their bad days and the beans suck with rock hard tostones. The service is beyond annoying but delivery take at least one hour and a half without a warning. I hoped that they would improve but as more noches came around the area the worse their service got. When I need my Colombian food fix, I go here. The service is usually fine, the ambience is fun and chill.. they usually have a soccer game on or other sporting event. The food is on POINT! I've gotten the yucca fries which were perfectly crispy on the outside, and melt in your mouth texture on the inside. Churrasquito con vegetales is a win x 3. It's great on taste, price, and portion. The maduros were a little greasy, but that was to be expected.. kind of hard to mess up maduros. I live 10 min away from this place and that's probably 10 minutes too much because I would love to stop in here for breakfast before work for the pandebono and coffee. I didn't really know what to expect when my boyfriend brought me here for dinner last night but it was just OKAY. We got a meal that could seriously fill up TWO people. The portions are HUGE. We got a platter filled with fried pork, steak, beans, egg, rice and avocado. Notes: 1. I felt like the Fried pork was hard to chew so I didn't like it and didn't eat it. 2. The beans and rice had good flavor so I definitely enjoyed that. 3. Why did my waitress seem so unhappy? 4. I think my egg would have tasted better if It was cooked over easy/slightly runny. 5. My steak was thin, pounded one too many times and thus too chewy. I think if my service experience was a little better, I would add half a star, maybe even a whole star. I've been a long time customer, I placed a To Go Order and cannot believe when I made a request for extra hot sauce (pique) they wanted to charge me. For the price of 4 little containers they lost a customer who visited the restaurant at least 6 times a month with my family. The daytime manager was not only rude but cared very little for my business. No where in the menu does it state of any additional cost for sauces or condiments. At the end of the day, a business owner should care about making their customers happy, but sadly this location does not. I hope they get another chef because food is necessary in any restaurant. The staff can be nice but the girls there have some attitude issues sometimes which I don't appreciate. I really wanted to go to this place and try some Colombian food so I asked my husband to take me. When he saw how small this place was he really didn't want to come in (he thought it'd be crowded and he was cautious because of the COVID-19 surge). But the restaurant was nearly empty so we ordered. Once we started eating, more people arrived. And guess what, some people who came in without any masks, were seated by the restaurant employees right next to us!!! Although there were plenty of other tables still available this place didn't care to leave an empty table between customers!!!! Obviously they've never heard about 6 feet and social distancing... My husband flipped out. He put his mask back on and refused to eat any more. So we had to leave immediately and our evening was ruined. We probably could have confronted them and asked why they don't follow the rules regarding safe dining indoors. We could have asked to move us to a different table. But why bother if clearly this place doesn't care and so it is not safe!!!! The food was just ok, Latino music was really loud and they don't serve alcohol (unlike the other restaurant by the same name in Edgewater judging by the photos on Yelp)!!! Came to Noches de Colombia with a few friends and their children for breakfast. I suggested The Heritage Diner in Hackensack. The kids wanted IHOP. My friend and his wife overruled everybody, and so it was. Once the food came out, the children were silent. I looked over and they resembled content little mice eating their own little blocks of cheese. Very happy for it! One of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. Although I don't recall a damned thing I ate, I loved it. Go! Pick off the menu! Eat! Enjoy! TIP: Go to the counter and get the breads. They have an extensive menu of deliciousness. I sometimes get the bandeja paisa, that brings pork rind, steak, rice, beans, one fried egg, sausage and avocado. I could never finish the meal because it's huge. The steak can sometimes be a little too chewy. Last time I went I ordered the grilled chicken in a wine creamy sauce.. I can't remember how it's called but it was delicious. I couldn't eat it all and took it to go. I'm not a fan of their fruit drinks, I've only had it once, so I may need to give it another try. You must get the coffee with milk after your meal, it's sooo good. I've had the 3 leches dessert and it's pretty good, not too sweet. They also have Colombian sweets for sale at the counter.. I bought the corn arepa and it was good. Colombians are very friendly, I love the way they treat their customers. There is a fairly quick turnaround once you order. Good food at a reasonable price! Came here for dinner a few nights back, normally the service is good, but due to the fact I came during peak dinner time, it took a while for them to get my order in. The food is always on point and super delicious and never ordered anything that didn't settle right with my taste buds. Definitely the place to go when you're starving and want big portions for a good price. Pretty big seating area and decent size parking, so you most likely won't run into the issue of having to wait, unless you're coming at peak hours. If you are then there will most likely be a few minute wait and parking might be a bit tight ... But the food is totally worth it! Always happy to come back! read more

Just moved to the area and was looking for something filling and delicious but inexpensive after a long day of hauling furniture and boxes. We found this place after searching in our area on Yelp, and boy am I glad! I ordered the arepita con todo, which is an arepa with chicharron and chorizo. There was a bit of confusion on the phone, they referred to it as something different than was listed on their menu (I forget what) but in the end I got the right thing. Although it was listed as an appetizer it was pretty large and perfect for a meal. My father ordered a ham and cheese sandwich, and we got an order of the empanaditas to share. Everything was delicious, and I am already thinking about when I can order again. The only thing that was a bit off was the customer service-when I called in the to-go order they had me hold for several minutes and it just sounded like they were having conversations with other employees. Also, upon arrival no one seemed to want to help us pay for our order and it took a few minutes, but once we got someone to help us she was lovely.
