I'm from Michigan but heard about them while visiting NOLA! I've tried a lot of Indian restaurants and this compared well to my favorites. We had the Butter Chicken and Chicken 65 regular. Both were amazing and the whole family loved it! Potato Samosas were fresh and great, but PLEASE add sweet tamarind chutney too because that is what's usually included at other restaurants. 5 stars for great food, and trusted halal!! read more

Definitely a must if you're thinking about it. At no one's behest did I show up here, it was a rare hankering for something out of my usual and since I was in Kenner (far from my usual) there were an abundance of options. Something told me I wanted Indian food so the search began. There was a couple places I was torn between but decided on this one. I find it difficult to believe I could have made a better choice. The place sits in the middle of a strip mall, not much aesthetically. Let that be no deterrence. Where they may lack in decor, it's made up for in their dishes. Since it was only me, I had the butter chicken and garlic naan; simply phenomenal. I was unsure if I would be able to finish it all but it was so dang tasty I couldn't leave nor embarrass myself by requesting a to-go box. I had to let them know how much life the food gave me. By the time I was done with it, the dishes seemingly could've gone straight back on the shelf. No doubt about it, the food here is bangin. I'd definitely be willing to make the trip out this way for this again, great job! read more

Indian food is not something I frequent, so I don't exactly know where the best places are to go when I do have that occasional craving. Thank you yelpers for not failing me and directing me to the perfect spot. Keep a look out because this place is extremely easy to miss, located in a small strip off Williams. The inside is nothing fancy, but the food....OFF THE CHAIN. We ordered the butter chicken and the goat biryani. Both were excellent, my favorite being the butter chicken. It was probably the best I've ever had seriously. Served piping hot in a unique little pot and accompanied with naan bread that was equally delicious, it was just the right amount to leave my satisfied but not overly full. I'm not a huge fan of goat, but I did sample my husbands and the spices were excellent. Spicy, but not too spicy to leave your mouth on fire. We also ordered a side of basmati rice and Indian soda with the total coming out to around $30 so it wasn't a pocket killer. The owner served us and was extremely nice as well. Ground Beef Samosa (2/3$) - ground beef stuffed in dough sheets & fried. I would describe this as a meat pie. It was a light starter. Samosas take up belly space but aren't gonna knock the socks off your taste buds. Papri Chat (5$) - garbanzo beans, potatoes, tomatoes, yogurt, & spices served w homemade dressing & fried chips. Very unique. Something I've never had before. I would say the homemade dressing is a vinaigrette. I really loved this dish because it was well balanced. The fried chips and beans brought textured to the dish. The flavors were harmonized because the dressing brought tart and sweet. Definitely recommend! Karahi Gosht (13$) - goat meat with tomatoes & spices. The goat meat was very tender and not too gamey. It wasn't very spicy to me. Butter Chicken (10$) - chicken breast in curry & spices. I have been here 7-8 times so far, which includes 5 dine ins and 3 pick ups. The owner never fails to impress with his personability. They have the best Kebabs in the city. I love the spicy Behari kebab, its so well cooked that it just melts in your mouth. Biryani is always good. Try paya curry, it is also well cooked. I feel bad for the owners as he tries his best to handle the front end of the restaurant and answers phones, take orders - all at the same time. His wife is the only cook and she is doing her best to serve dishes as quick as possible. They can use some additional help with the kitchen and front end of the restaurant. Expect some delay to be served if the restaurant is full. They specialize in catering. If you plan a small party, give them a heads up of 1 day - your order is specially made and priced better. read more

WOW!!! Had this place today for the first time and I can easily say that its the best Butter Chicken I've had in the New Orleans area. I'm from Chicago so I'm used to great indian/desi food and I have to say that this place is by far the best. I won't be going to any other places from now on. I cannot wait to try out the rest of their menu. If you're looking for a fancy place, this isn't it. But if you're looking for the best indian/desi/pakistani food in the area this place is it! Delightful little gem in Kenner. Very family-oriented restaurant. We ordered samosas, and split the chicken 65 and palak paneer (spinach and cheese). The chicken 65 was fried thigh meat and then mixed with spices. Both main dishes outstanding. The samosas were pretty good, maybe a 3.5/5, but the yogurt/chickpea sauce underneath made them special. Mr. Ali was able to assist me in providing the most delicious Halal meals for our group attendee this week. I was fortunate enough to sample these dishes when the guest did not attend the first two days. Was actually kind of bummed when the attendee actually showed up, lol! I had a craving for curry so took a shot. We got the Butter Chicken which was chunks of white meat in an orange curry sauce which was rich and spicier than expected, and the Beef cabob which was loaded with onions and other veggies. The naan was the best I've had. Local restaurants that deliver around here are rare so used Grubhub and food arrived warm but the bill was high for the convenience. I LOVE this place! I have been here many times in the last year have have tried most everything on the menu. The portions are great and the naan... Yum! Be sure to order a side of rice if you need some. Sometimes the food takes a moment to come out, but be patient! Food this wonderful is worth the wait. This was my first Indian food experience in New Orleans and I am super impressed! It's very authentic and not too greasy. The garlic naan is flaky in the right way and my paneer was healthily crafted with a lot of vegetables and spices. My husband's butter chicken was very buttery and flavorful in a way I'd never experienced before. A friend and I had dinner here for the first time tonight. We could tell it was going to be good because the parking lot was filled with the most fragrant aromas. First we shared a mango lassi which was to die for. Then we had potato samosas which were delicious. I think the owner was right when he suggested that we order two different entrees and share but, we both ordered the vegetable briyani because this is their specialty. My friend loves very spicy food and she absolutely loved it. Honestly, it was a little too spicy for me but, I still liked it because the food quality here is really exceptional. Next time I will ask them to turn down the heat a little. The service was outstanding and we didn't have to wait for a thing. We will definitely be back soon to try other dishes. I would certainly make this review 3 and 1/2 stars is I could, and will be back to try different dishes and adjust it if necessary. The service started slow but was good thereafter. My husband and I ordered beef samosas, chicken korma and a type of beef kabob called a Bihari Kabob. We got raita, naan and white rice with it all and starter salads. The salads had a fruity dressing on them, which is not my thing. But my husband liked his. The samosas were good but pretty small and only come 2 to an order. The korma was yummy- spicy and nice flavor although the chicken pieces were a little dry. Our biggest issue was with the kabob. It came out totally mushy, almost as if it hadn't been grilled. The thick marinade was coating the outside and the meat underneath was total mush.....it seems unlikely it was grilled :-/ We could not eat it, unfortunately. Perhaps some better descriptions on the menu or something would have helped? read more

Very good experience! Went with family and we all left highly satisfied. We started off with chicken sheekh kabab. The kababs lacked a little seasoning, but we're very nicely cooked. They were bery succulent and tender. For our entrees, we ordered chicken karahi, goat curry and dal. The chicken was very flavourful and juicy. But the dal and goat curry were absolutely phenomenal! The goat had such great flavour; and the gravy was absolutely splendid! The entrees each came with Naan, which were awesome! We also got a portion of rice, which was good too. It loses out the star primarily due to dull service, and small portion sizes (prinarily the protein) for the price. Overall, highly recommended. read more

Starting with the appetizers, chicken 65 was awesome. Felt like back home. Then in the main course we had Nihari lamb, chicken korma and panner karahi. Nihari was awesome, the lamb was soft and tender. Chicken korma was less spicy and panner was just fine. Chicken and mutton biryanis were good (3on5) . Coming to the deserts, Apricot jelly (qubani ka meetha) was heaven. Really thick and perfect sweetness. Malai kulfi was also good. Over had a good mean on the first day of the year. I would give the food: 5; Food size: 3.5; And drinks 2-3. But the food wins. Here's why. [Go to the bottom for the Too Long: Didn't Read summary.] I'm going to do the negatives before the positives because I want you to leave this review remembering the best part last. Because you DO need to try this place out. Negatives: 1) Under-staffed in the front of house. The owner said that this is not normally an issue as it it not so crowded usually on weekends. But no Saints football meant more people in. Ok. I get that. The poor man was on the phone taking orders, all over the restaurant greeting people. Asking if they need stuff etc. I WISH I had his energy levels. (So your experience will probably be quicker) 2) No iced tea and no water outside canned or bottled stuff. If you want a serious restaurant in NOLA, please don't make people pay for bottled water. Most of us have no issue drinking tap water. After living other places, I can say NOLA water is some of the better water I've had. And iced tea is simple and inexpensive to make. You will make more from that then selling cans. I promise you. 3) Limited menu means you may not always order an item on a given day. If you have it on the menu, you should offer it every day. If not, make up certain nights for one menu and certain nights for others. If Celeb-chefs can do it, everyone else can do it too. And the type of food you make relies on freshness and such, so feel free to use that as an excuse to only serve certain foods on certain days. (Post it online and we'll come on the days you offer what we like). 4) Small and spartan space (Note: this is not an issue for me except having to sit in one of the few small tables with my back to the door. Gives me the willies). It can get a bit loud and then quiet in there..it's got odd sound acoustics. 5) Slightly small portions for us fat Americans. Half an hour later and we were still hungry even though we got 2 mains, an appetizer and an extra naan. Maybe more vegetables could help..or maybe a cup of rice. Something to give it a bit more substance would be wonderful. That seems like a lot of negatives but I'm just being verbose and overly picky because I really WANT them to succeed. I really do. This place needs to tweak a few things and take over the Indian/Pakistani scene in this area. And here is why.. Positives: 1)The owner is the embodiment of customer service. He seemed to feel so bad that he was not able to get to everyone really quickly and seemed to care that everyone got everything the way they wanted it. He thanked people profusely for coming in, He apologized profusely if there was a wait or something wasn't perfect. He took the time to ask questions about what people liked and to offer suggestions, and pictures of different foods so they knew what to expect at every stage of the process. He really is the consummate business owner and customer service professional. 2) Cleanliness. This place was spotless. I especially liked that there was a hand washing sink OUTSIDE the bathrooms so you didn't have to touch anything nasty after you washed your hands to avoid Marime (from where I come from, it means ritualistic uncleanliness of impurity). I love this. 3) Food: When I lived in England, I would go to Birmingham to an area called Spark Hill which may have more Pakistani than Pakistan. I had wonderful Pakistani food. This is just as good if not better. If you have ever had a good Indian Samosa, try a Pakistani version with beef. It's like the Best Kibbi you ever had...but crispy. Perfection. 4) More food. The Karahi Ghosht (goat curry)was the best I've ever had from a NOLA restaurant. I've had better from a Chef with a doctorate in Indian Culture and food, but not in a NOLA restaurant. If it had been about 15% larger, I'd have been in heaven. I wanted to suck the marrow from the bones...it was that good. But Fat man was polite. 5) More, more food. The girly had butter chicken and again, it was the best version we've ever had in New Orleans.. And I mean EVER. Once again, it needed to be a bit larger for the price, but it was amazingly good. 6) Get the naan. Shaddap and get the naan. And even if your dinner comes with naan, get more naan. Even if you don't like naan, get the naan. TL:DR Needs some adjusting if they want to grow their business but the food is unbelievable and the owner is great. don't go when you are too hungry. What a pleasant surprise. Tucked away on williams blvd is this authentic indian spot. The food is delicious and if you love spicy well then this is for you darling. I had the Karahi Gosht (goat) super spicy but it taste good, the raita,rice and naan helps. I also had the butter chicken. This place was delicious. We had the chicken briyani and the goat curry. Both were amazingly flavorful. The curry sauce was so yummy that even after we ate all the goat, we couldn't help but dip in our naan! And speaking of the naan: sweet baby Jesus! So good. It was fresh out of the oven and the perfect texture! It's hard to think of a negative, but I suppose if I had to point out anything, it would be the speed. Since everything was cooked fresh, it took about 25 minutes to get our food. But that was fine by us as we were not in a rush. Plus, the owner is so kind and welcoming, that we didn't mind the wait. The karahi gosht and saag paneer were just perfect! Spicy and rich and the goat was so tender! Best Indian food I have ever had in Louisiana! Tried the falooda for dessert and it was a real treat. Creamy rose water flavored drink with slivered almonds, frozen cake and pineapple, little bits of jello, vermicelli, and basil seeds. Really interesting and delicious. Everyone was friendly and the place was spotless. But I have to say the service was super slow and dirty dishes were never cleared. Took over 30 minutes to order. Then 10 more to get water. The entrees arrived at about the one hour mark. The appetizers came a little later and then later still the chai. It was very busy and they had a big catering order go out but frankly it really did diminish an otherwise terrific meal. read more

The biryani here is great, very flavorful and with aromatic spices,I only wish they would serve it with a raita or yogurt. The naans came out hot and soft. Ordered through delivery service which was perfect. Food arrived extremely hot, though was completely inedible. Chicken tikki marsala was all oil and grease with 2 bite sized pieces of chicken. This place is great!! Such a refreshing change from the mediocre Pakistani food in New Orleans. It's totally worth the drive from the city. Only 4 months old but already making a huge impact with its customers. The food is delicious, has a real home cooked feel. This was a real treat for me to dine out at a place that resembles my mum's cooking. I would highly recommend the chicken biryani and the nehari with naan. Everything is made fresh, never re heated, which is what you would expect from a good Pakistani place. The kheer(rice pudding) is fantastic, so definitely try it. The restaurant is new, clean and the service is hospitable. Good family run establishment, the owners do their own cooking and manage the front.
