Butter chicken / Murgh makhani

The food here is just amazing! This is the best Indian food in New Orleans hands down!

Mina H.

This is one of the best Indian places around! They've only been open since December 1st of 2022, but we think they have the best buffet in the New Orleans area! For about $20, you get to eat their daily lunch buffet, which was fantastic both times that we've been here! You definitely get the most bang for your buck here. The buffet menu differs each day, but they have items such as: *Dosa *Pokoras *Chicken or goat curry *Tandoori chicken *Butter chicken *Chicken kabob *Saag paneer *Lamb curry *Fried fish *Biryani *Daal *Shahi Paneer *Carrot or pinapple halwa *Jalebi *A whole selection of sauces, chutneys, and pickles and so much more that I cannot remember! Every item was well seasoned and delicious. All of the meats were so tender and juicy. Really cooked to perfection. The buffet is refilled constantly (because it's so popular here), and it looks clean too. The décor and set up of the tables is also nice - plenty of space.

I was pretty impressed by the food at Punjabi Dhaba! I went for the first time this past weekend with some of my friends to try their lunch buffet. The restaurant is out in Kenner, but the drive is worth it to get authentic Indian food at a reasonable price which can be pretty hard to find in New Orleans. Someone in our group had dietary restrictions//allergies and the owner came out to help explain each dish to ensure that they would be able to eat from the buffet. The buffet consisted of classical Indian dishes, but it also had specialty dishes such as Methi Matter which impressed me. They also make fresh dosas with sambar during the buffet period. Overall, it was excellent find in New Orleans for great Indian food!

Lunch buffet! Delicious! Chai was great too!

I tried the buffet. I've been reading about and it was all delicious. The curry was spicy. The hot chai tea was just what I wanted. I'll be back and I highly recommend part of me it to others!

Coming to post in the light of Mr. Negi's passing to highlight just how wonderful this place is- not only is the food authentic in a way that uses spices that made my parents reminisce about their childhood dishes growing up in India, but Mr. Negi and his team always made an effort to make every guest at the restaurant feel welcomed by personally greeting them and spending at least 2-3 minutes at each table. His hospitality combined with the fun decor made and continues to make this place more special than the average Indian restaurant in a way that stays true to its roots with the food and hospitality. For the food, tandoori chicken is never dry and has the perfect spice level. Same goes for the kabobs that are clearly all baked to perfection in their custom tandoor. Paneer dishes are always on point and a favorite is the appetizer. Buffet quality is always on par with dinner service. And definitely definitely recommend the rasmalai trifle with a side of masal chai to end the meal. One of the most unique and perfectly executed desserts I've ever had an Indian restaurant. Highly highly recommend this place for the amazing food that's made with a lot of love from a talented team. I also catered a 75-person event with them and the food was personally delivered in warmers and was a hit at the party. Portions were more than generous and pricing was very competitive. Thank you for bringing your joy to our little town Mr. Negi, you will be missed.

I've been here twice. Once with takeout and once in person. The staff are friendly but they're still ironing out service issues. When I ate in person we got the wrong food twice, and it was a super long wait, the staff was not well informed on what came with each item. When I ordered takeout they weren't sure if the order was mine, either. But the food is delicious and it's the first time I've enjoyed and even craved Indian food. The spicy level is never the same any time I order the same thing but the food is good and staff are friendly. The garlic naan is awesome. I will definitely go back and hopefully they'll iron some more of the kinks out

I was told repeatedly that it was kabsa(a rice dish). What I received was not kabsa at all -- it was a flatbread/pastry (like mutabbak), not a rice dish. When I called, the owner said they don't even make kabsa and pointed to the receipt saying it was written as mutabbak. He was rude and refused a refund. That doesn't change the fact that I was told on the phone by some woman that they had kabsa. This wasn't a mix-up about taste -- I was told one thing and given something completely different, and they doubled down instead of fixing it.

If you happen to be able to catch when they have a buffet- OMG GO! The staff are all extremely kind as well! I typically order my food to go but I've eaten in twice. The space is modest and clean. Nothing too fancy but the food will surely knock your socks off. OMG THE TEAAAA too! You have to order the tea!

This has to be one of the best Indian restaurants in the country. As a person who has tried lots of Indian restaurants, this place stands out above all. The service is impeccable. I wouldn't expect anything less given the quality and the taste of the food coming out of that kitchen. Our servers were very proper, very respectful, very courteous, and you could tell they were very proud of the food they were serving. The space is very well decorated, not a giant restaurant. If you don't already know who they are, you honestly don't expect what you're about to taste, and you're in for a ride. Every plate had something special to it. I didn't think I could fall in love again with lamb chops, but they proved me wrong. Reminded me of the first time I ever bit a GOOD lamb chop. I didn't think I would be impressed by (seemingly) fried chicken bits, but you too won't understand why they're so good when you bite into them. Fried cauliflower, AMAZING. I don't even like cauliflower - the ears are weird. We had.. Crispy Gobi Chicken Pakoda Tandoori Shrimp Tandoori Lamb Malabar Fish Cury Kolhapuri Chicken For drinks we had Vodka Mango Lassi (he knew I was in it for the vodka) Spicy Margarita (very good and very nicely presented) This place is a MUST GO

The food was excellent and felt authentic from start to finish. The cocktail program was also top-tier and far better than what I've experienced at most Indian restaurants. That said, there are a few areas where I think the experience could improve. My girlfriend was trying Indian food for the first time, and we would have appreciated a bit more guidance from our server regarding the menu and spice levels, especially since she's sensitive to spice. A little direction would go a long way for first-time guests. I also noticed several walk-in parties turned away between 9:20 and 9:40 PM despite the restaurant closing at 10:00 PM. As someone who previously worked in the service industry, I understand that everyone wants to get home at the end of the night. Still, as a customer, I'd be disappointed to arrive during posted business hours and be turned away. Lastly, I felt the dessert program was a missed opportunity. The food and cocktails set such a high bar that a more robust dessert menu could really elevate the overall experience. On a positive note, I have to give a special shoutout to Satya, who was bartending and helping on the floor during our visit. He was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely enhanced our experience. Hospitality is hard to teach, and he absolutely nailed it. We'd gladly come back just to see him again.

We all started with cocktails, I had a version of a dirty martini that featured vermouth which gave it a lighter and almost sweet flavor that is not the briny flavor of the typical dirty martini. It was sooo delicious and I was grateful to have leftovers because everyone else at the table order the softshell crab entree. That bothered me only a little because it was way too much food but also, it's a pet peeve of mine when people order the same thing- why not try/share everything on the menu ‍ Anyway, the service was excellent and so attentive. I was also treated a large slice of chocolate cake as a birthday treat. I was so stuffed but I managed a couple bites and shared with everyone.
