Very interesting place. Went for an early dinner with my husband and our three teens when we were passing through on our way back home from Conway. If I were writing a review based on the cleanliness and ambiance, I would rate it one star. However, the food was a five star experience for me and that, for me, is the most important thing. The service was good - prompt, polite, and attentive. As far as the physical facilities go: this restaurant needs a good deep cleaning, a major decluttering, and some updates to the space. The bathrooms were about what you'd expect in a dive bar. The windows are smudged and dirty. The drop ceiling needs to go. There's a bar out towards the back (where we were seated) that is being used as storage/overflow/side work space which kind of made it feel like we were eating in a work area rather than a dining room. This building has potential with an adorable stone fireplace, a good outdoor area, and great location. A deep cleaning, brightening and lightening of the space, and a better use of the back area would go far. Now for the incredible food: I had the lamb chops with olives, artichokes, and fingerling potatoes. My husband had the salmon with green beans and blistered cherry tomatoes on top. Between my three kids, they had a burger, a Caesar salad, shrimp scampi, and a BBQ chicken pizza. We also shared an order of calamari. The calamari was tender and the marinara dipping sauce was full of delicious garlicky flavor. Slight criticism in that the breading for the calamari fell off easily, but it was otherwise delicious. The pizza was thin crusted, chewy, and flavorful. I'm told the scampi was great, and it looked so. I'm often frustrated that restaurants don't do justice to vegetables, it's like they're an afterthought, even for many excellent restaurants. I don't want to be served mushy carrots, watery steamed broccoli, or sautéed chunks of undercooked zucchini. The vegetables we had here were cooked by somebody who has to understand and love vegetables like I do. The olives and artichokes were plentiful, flavorful, and full of succulent texture. My potatoes and lamb were crispy and golden. My entire meal was served over a scallion pesto that was full of bright flavor and the perfect balance of salt and olive oil. My lamb was also full of flavor and cooked perfectly. My husband said his vegetables were the same, and love that his green beans were bright green rather than that muted, overly cooked dull green you'll find at many restaurants. We both had the house Chardonnay and were pleasantly surprised that it was rich and buttery...usually if I'm ordering a house wine I'll go with Pinot Grigio for white or merlot for red (I find more reliable for less expensive wine) so I'm glad that I took the chance on the Chardonnay. I rarely drive to Wolfeboro because I live an hour away, but honestly I will consider coming to the area again for the delicious food (which is saying a lot considering that there was so much room for improvement otherwise.) For my fellow foodies out there, I think this restaurant is probably a hidden gem. read more

The afternoon was great as I convinced my husband to go up to have a snack together and enjoy some time just us! We headed to Wolfeboro and stopped in at Nolan's which was a great choice as always!!! We are famous for getting apps and sharing them instead of meals, which is great for us to have more taste bud fun without being stuck to a big plate. We agreed on the ahi tuna but my husband loves mussels so I ordered those when the bartender came over - total shock to him!! He was saying we'd need a box as the portions were large, but we finished them both! Ordered a fairly simple take out (beet salad) that should have taken all of 10 minutes to make. After providing name, phone number to take out person to let me know when my order was ready, she let me sit what seemed an excessive amount of time (20+ minutes). Then, she finally came over to me and lets me know my salad was sitting there waiting for pickup. Really, no text, she couldn't come over and tell me???? Fantastic pizza. Nice thin crust with lots of topping options to explore or you can order one of the preselected combos. The Godfather is good choice for meat lovers and Chrys' is a good alfredo option. Non pizza options like are tasty as well, chicken parm sandwich and pasta primavera. There's some interesting appetizer seletions too. The muscles bruschetta is a feast that can chosen as entre. The Ahi Tuna caught my eye and is on my wish list for next time. We always make a point to have at least one meal here during our vacation week. Only downside is the dining room fills quickly during regular dinner hours. A nice option on what my brother says is America's oldest resort town. They have a full menu of pizza options, sandwiches, panini, pastas and more. The beer selection is ok (id like more dark beer options- how about a regional stout:) and they have wine and more. I got a Mediterranean sandwich with fries which was quite tasty. I asked them to hold the feta (to keep it vegan) and they did a fine job. I'd like to see a few explicit vegan options (not too hard in an Italian place usually). We stopped at Nolan's based on some good reviews but were disappointed with the food. The service was good - our server was friendly and accommodated us moving tables. The ambiance was as expected - the bar area was lively and outdoor seating was nice. I ordered a meatball sandwich which came on Italian bread. The bread was good, but the meatballs had too much oregano in them and not much other flavor, and the sauce was a bit tangy. He also yelled at me because I walked in with a coffee and ordered food and not a drink. Not knowing I may have been pregnant. Seriously the worst service I have ever had. We dined in one nlight and the service was prompt, friendly and attentive. I had the fish tacos which were very good. My husband had the meatball sandwich and said it was okay. We decided to try takeout pizza on a different night. We ordered a pepperoni and a margarita. What we got was a plain cheese pizza and a burned piece of pizza dough with some dried up tomato sauce and a few black garlic cloves, no Buffalo mozzarella, no basil and 2 pieces of tomato. I threw it out. We were staying on one of the islands and it wasn't worth getting back in the boat and docking in Wolfboro again. I know it's under new ownership and hopefully they get it together by next summer! read more

Pizzas are excellent. Also recommend the Greek salad which has an some less common lettuce varieties. Fish and chips were nicely done. Peak season help is hard to find in Wolfboro so wait times can be long even as the restaurant has empty tables. Outside tables are really nice place to relax read more

We spent the day walking around Wolfeboro and wanted a late lunch and early dinner option. This fit the bill. Great bar and greater bartender. My husband is pretty picky about his spaghetti and he loved it here. I had the special sandwich, which was pork. It was very good. The French fries were AMAZING. I've dined at Nolan's many times in the past and my experiences have for the most part been good. Sometimes my meals are tasty and the environment is pleasant, but other times we've been greeted with an estimated 45 minute wait that turns out to actually be 90 minutes, a swelteringly hot dining room and so much noise I leave with a migraine. We've learned to mainly come in the off-season or at least on less-busy days (such as mid-week) to avoid the crowds associated with mid-summer tourists. When we time it right, the good usually outweighs the bad, and given the lack of options in Wolfeboro we wind up at Nolan's a few times a summer. However, I've been disappointed recently when I drive by the restaurant. I'll preface this by saying that I understand restaurants have taken quite the hit in the past few months throughout the pandemic and I, as much as anyone, empathize with their need to make some money this summer now that things are opening back up. However, this must be done with some simple precautions. Every time I've driven past Nolan's I've seen guests in tables across their patio, with no more than perhaps 3 feet in between. What's even worse, none of their staff are wearing a mask or behaving differently than they would under normal conditions. At other restaurants in the area, I've seen staff are wearing masks and gloves to help their guests feel comfortable and safe dining. It truly takes minimal effort to ask staff to wear masks or remove a table or two from the patio to ensure everyone can actually seat 6 feet apart -- but Nolan's is failing to do this. This pandemic is nothing to be messed with and just because the weather is better does not excuse reckless behavior on behalf of the businesses that are supposed to cater to us and make US feel comfortable. Their customers' safety is evidently not a priority. read more

This is my first time in town and it was my first restaurant so I don't have much to compare to. The restaurant vibe seemed nice and people seemed to be satisfied. It looked like your average bar and restaurant. I sat on the bar after a very young host told me to while serving other people. The bartender was friendly and helpful. I didn't have drinks but I had the vegetable pasta with chicken added, pesto sauce. It was very average. They have brick oven pizza and it looked delicious but I didn't have the chance to try it. Maybe next time. I wasnt sure of many better places at 8 PM so this was my go. I would come back to try their pizza next time read more

We made our annual pilgrimage-by-boat to Wolfeboro to buy Lake Winnipesaukee souvenirs and have some lunch. In the past, we've stayed closer to the boat docks, but this year I asked the cashier at the souvenir shop what her local favorite place to eat was. She recommended Nolan's up the street a couple of blocks. We were lucky our party of 9 got there when we did, because there was no wait and we were seated immediately. Soon after, all the tables were full and there were people waiting at the door. Nolan's has a little bit of everything on the menu from lobster rolls to burgers to sandwiches to pizza, so I figured it was a good place for all 9 people in our family to find something that they would want to eat. Oddly enough, we all ended up ordering pizza. We started off with the garlic bites. I was afraid there wouldn't be enough for everyone at the table, but I was pleasantly surprised. Out came a heaping plate of small garlic bread balls - PLENTY to share around our large table. The pizza was thin crust and very good. The adults at our table shared the South of the Border (SOB) (taco pizza) and a margherita pizza and they were both delicious. Another plus, they have 603 Amber Ale on draft. I love that stuff! I ordered the steak tips with risotto and the vegetable of the day which was brussel sprouts. I ordered my tips medium, which they were on the inside, but burnt on the outside. They were gristly and very chewy. The risotto was over cooked and had a sour taste. I normally love risotto but I couldn't eat this. The brussel sprouts were under cooked and under seasoned. I wish I had spent that $26 on groceries. read more

The food and service are average. It's an OK place. The problem is the pricing. I placed a lunch order for pick up of 3 steak Caesar salads and it was $98. Yeah we won't ever be going back. I asked why it was so expensive. The server charged me $12 for a Caesar salad and $16 for the steak because $16 was the price of the steak dinner.
