I was so excited to try Elephantine Bakery today. Cheat code was to order ahead because we got there and the line was out of the door. Great sign! We were able to see a worker bringing food out to a seated guest and we picked the order up without waiting. I ordered the cinnamon roll and the rosemary focaccia bread. Both were amazing! The cinnamon roll was light and fluffy. I'm not the biggest fan of cream cheese frosting but it wasn't bad and didn't take away from it at all. The focaccia's flavor was amazing. It was everything! The size of it big enough to cut multiple pieces and share it with my husband. If we're able to come back I'd love to sit inside or out and try more items. The entire atmosphere was beautiful and looked picturesque. So so good.!

I have considered driving the 217 miles back to Elephantine for their Mortadella Focaccia! It was that memorable. However, I was just this year's old when I found a location in Boston that I will line up when I next visit my son and daughter-in-law. Anyone here in the local Long Island community who knows where I can have one now, let me know! Almond pastry and coffee stellar also!

At least six months later, I am still thinking about this meal I had. I love a good sandwich especially when it's in the form of a bagel with salmon. It is so good! It made my best bites of 2025 review. The bakery is small but has some seating inside and out. I ate this on the little stone wall outside and it was everything I could have wanted. Although there is a line usually, the service is fast and DELICIOUS!

Honey and cardamom latte with oat milk and a pistachio croissant

While making my way from Boston up to Maine, I stopped on a rainy Sunday morning at Elephantine Bakery for my morning latte and a little treat. The space inside the bakery is extremely limited, but I managed to grab a spot at one of the tiny tables. Normally, it looks like they also have outdoor seating, but not on this particular rainy day. I ordered a honey and cardamom latte with oat milk and a pistachio croissant. The service was extremely fast and friendly. All of the pastry items in the display case looked incredible and I wish I could have sampled one of each! The latte was warm and soothing - the perfect drink for a rainy day. The pistachio croissant had great flavor and was subtly sweet. If I lived in the area, I would be a frequent customer of Elephantine Bakery. Keep up the great work!

This spot is super popular, and for good reason! The vibe is amazing--its location almost makes you feel like you're not even in NH. They offer a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options, and their coffee is absolutely delicious--it genuinely tastes like it's made with love. I tried the ricotta toast and was blown away by the size and presentation. The ricotta was perfectly whipped, topped with seeds, honey, and just a touch of salt for balance. I asked if they had a fig drizzle instead of honey, which they didn't, but the staff member smiled and said, "That's a great idea." Honestly, if they added it, I'm sure it would be a hit! Everything tasted fresh, and you can really tell they take pride in the food they serve. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu.

Amazing amazing !! Small, alley has a handful of tables. 100% worth the wait if there is a line. Few come close to the exciting menu and fabulous execution of pastries and sandwiches and entrees. Superb !!!

Such a quality quaint coffee and breakfast spot! It's a walk up and pay kind of place. The lines can become extremely long waiting for seats can be an issue. We absolutely loved the unique cilber breakfast items and fabulous high quality ingredients bakery items! Downside it the up charge for jams and higher prices in general. However if money not an issue then I ighly recommend!

Beautiful bakery tucked away on the picturesque Commercial Alley in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Elephantine Bakery is a must-visit. We ordered their Pain Au Chocolat, Ricotta Lemon Danish, Ham & Cheese Croissant, and their signature Cardamom & Honey Latte. Everything was phenomenal. I can't wait to go back and try their Ricotta and Honey Toast. Elephantine has an authentic and welcoming vibe. The staff were so friendly and patient especially since we took awhile deciding on what to get because everything was mouthwatering.

One of the best bites I've ever had was the poached egg cilibir. Such a unique taste, I'd drive the few hours back just for that!

It will be Busy! Key thing to note! But it was worth it for us! Today, we came around 11am, and there was a line with very limited seating. We got lucky and nabbed a ta le after a couple left. There was constantly people coming and going and I applaud how the staff had a good flow, and promptly delivered to everyone. It was clean but small. There is one bathroom and it was well maintained too. Ordered a simple latter and an almond chocolate croissant ~ they were good with delicious light filling, which wasn't too sweets. The best part was the Egg calibir, which includes two poached eggs with sauce and a some sour cream and herbs. It is usually served with one sourdough but you can added an extra slice or an extra egg, which is good if you're sharing. My partner and I shared this dish and we loved it! It really filled us up, and I was very satisfied.

Rating: 4.5 Came to try this place for breakfast as it was popular spot around the area. It's a small bakery/breakfast spot on a small alley in Portsmouth NH. Parking is street only. When we got there it was packed and there was a line. The place is very small so only few seatings are available so you may want to plan to take it to go. Luckily we found a seat while waiting on a line. We ordered almond chocolate croissants, cafe au lait, and egg cilbir Almond chocolate croissants were very delicious. It was flaky, sweet, buttery, and also had a filling in it which I'm not sure what it was but was tasty. Cafe au lait was good as well. Warm, creamy and hint of coffee flavor. Egg cilbir was very good. I've never had them before but I really liked it. It's a poached eggs with yogurt/garlic mixture that you mix and use bread to dip and eat. It's like eating a bread with garlic/cream cheese and egg mixture. Service was good and quick. Overall I liked the place and everything we had was very tasty. I would definitely consider returning if I'm around the area again.

The delightful scent of coffee was in the air and the staff were absolutely friendly as you approached the counter. Despite a buzz of patrons trickling in and ordering, the coffee was delivered to the table shortly after I sat. The staff obviously had a strong momentum going as I watched other tables being served just as quickly. Before I could even really start sipping on my piping hot Cafe Au Lait, I was served my salad and crepe. It was fun to watch how each person worked their station passionately. The lady preparing the crepes meticulously cleaned her station as she cooked. The staff on coffee were brewing away and sending cups out to diners. Other items were coming out from the back kitchen. They worked in unison like a well oiled machine. I definitely enjoyed my coffee. My salad was generous and hit the spot. The crepe was acceptable. Would I come back? Yeah, definitely my type of breakfast spot when visiting Portsmouth again. I definitely will try their croissants next time as well as check out their wine bar in the evenings!
