My daughter has had ongoing issues with her Hyundai Sonata, including being tested for excessive oil consumption at the Gladstone Hyundai location. At the end of her winter break, we noticed oil leaking, so to make it easier on all of us, we suggested she go to the Lawrence location, as she is going to school at KU. She took her car to the service department and was given a long list of things which needed to be repaired, some of which were oil gasket covers and spark plugs. She called my husband to call in to the service department to discuss which items would need to be fixed, none of which were shown to her or explained, but since we were out of town, we proceeded with a couple of repairs. That bill was approximately $1,000. A week after she had her car repaired, she came home, and we noticed there was still oil leaking, so we made another appointment for March 31st at 8:30 am. I drove the car from Kansas City to Lawrence and met with the service department rep. My daughter picked me up in another vehicle, and I left the facility. At approximately 12:30, I went back to check on the status of the car, and no one had taken a look at it, despite my appointment being at 8:30, and they knew I was staying in town to see what was wrong with it. I left again at that point, and about 20 minutes later, I received a call from the service department asking me to come back, so I left what I was doing to go back. At that point, he gave me a list of repairs that needed to be done totaling $3,300+, and one of them being the replacement of the oil pan, as it was cracked. I asked him questions about this and asked if this could have been what was wrong in the first place. He said he had no idea. Then I looked back at the documentation from the first time my daughter brought in the car, and it stated, "Customer says Oil Gaskets are Leaking." I can assure you no one in my family would have said that or known that would even be an issue. So I paid another bill of $190 to have someone "diagnose" the car, and I left without paying for any of the suggested repairs, as I feel as though I had been lied to and was not pleased with having to wait five hours past my appointment to have someone look at my car for the first time. I brought the car back to Kansas City and took it to our local mechanic. He did replace the oil pan, and I would bet that was why it was leaking in the first place. There is no documentation that anything was wrong with the gasket covers. No video or pictures, to my knowledge. He also informed me, when I asked about the other items on the list of suggested repairs, that we were being scammed. read more

Absolute worst experience of any car buying experience we've ever had and we've owned well over 20 cars in our lifetime. We recently purchased a 2021 Ford Explorer Limited from Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence and a 2024 GMC Sierra AT4 from a competing dealer in the area and this experience wasn't even close to the latter. The salesman was great during the sale and we negotiated on a list of 'we owe you' where Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence was going to complete repairs on sensors and a cracked windshield as part of the deal. We thought great - we can just bring it back in and it would maybe be a week at max but that didn't happen. We were told the repairs should only take a couple of days when it was dropped off. However, we went back and forth with the dealership over repairs and found out it was sent to the Laird Noller Ford of Lawrence dealership for repairs to the sensors without notifying us. This was also a surprise to the service manager at the Laird Noller Ford of Lawrence dealership that Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence was unable to fix the issues and no communication had been established from Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence to their department. Other issues we faced were in obtaining the title and registering in a timely manner. It took us a month to hunt down the title and finally the Laird Noller Ford of Topeka dealership was able to obtain it and get it to us. We received notices from the State of Kansas that we failed to register in 60 days and our bank threatened defaulting our loan because it was impossible for us to get the vehicle inspected and tagged while it was at the dealership. After two months we finally got our vehicle back but its bittersweet because there was no apology from the dealership for the delays or how they handled the repairs. Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence also left the vehicle completely filthy with bird feces down the side of it. (see pictures) I'm a firm believer in leaving something better than you found it. Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence certainly returned our vehicle worst off than how they received it and the small attention to details on how they returned a car, to a paying customer, says a lot about how they conduct their customer service and relationship with customers long term. If Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence is a representation of Laird Noller as a dealership I would highly recommend folks to look for a different dealership to do business to save yourself a lot of the headaches we experienced. Helping or showing any compassion to the customer is long gone once you sign on the dotted line. Customer service should be paramount and constant communication with the customer should be at the top of every service manager's list. I would say from our experience the optics are Laird Noller Hyundai Genesis of Lawrence and Laird Noller Ford of Lawrence are only interested in the sale and not building upon a long lasting customer relationship. This whole experience will certainly cause us to pause from buying another vehicle from Laird Noller in the future and to shop around for a dealership that puts the customer first. read more

I had an extremely frustrating experience here, primarily due to poor communication and questionable recommendations from Daniel. My car sat in their shop for 24 days with little urgency to repair it, as I was repeatedly told they were "waiting on parts." During the process, Daniel called me and claimed that my tires were unsafe due to low tread, insisting they all needed to be replaced. The price he quoted for this service was significantly higher than what I found elsewhere, so I declined. He continued to pressure me and even mentioned that when he was a "state inspector in Texas," he legally wouldn't have allowed me to drive with tread that bad. When I finally picked up my car--after nearly a month--Daniel was not there, but another friendly service technician assisted me. As we reviewed the work done, he casually mentioned that my tire tread was still in good condition. Surprised, I told him what Daniel had said, and we checked together--sure enough, my tires were fine. A coworker had previously warned me about the poor service here, and unfortunately, I experienced it firsthand. Ironically, when sharing this story with my friend, she mentioned that she had also dealt with Daniel when she had a similarly negative experience, reinforcing the pattern of misleading recommendations and poor customer service. Based on my experience, I would not recommend going here. The long wait time, lack of urgency, and misleading information regarding necessary repairs raise serious concerns about their customer service and trustworthiness. So we purchased a used '23 Explorer from these people. The negotiation went OK and the salesman was great. We went in pre approved for financing but were asked if they could provide financing instead. We were OK with that as long as they could beat the interest rate. Once the price was agreed on we met Omar the finance guy. He pushed hard for us to purchase a maintenance contract. We weren't interested. He offered a lower interest rate if we took it. So, my wife caved and said an extra $40 per month would be ok for contract. Omar comes back with numbers over $6k higher for contract. I demanded he remove the contract and go with original numbers. He snatched the paperwork up, stormed back to his office, and returned with new paperwork. Slaps the paperwork down and started with sign here and sign there. So, I asked about the interest rate, and he claimed he couldn't beat it. Again, a lie since he offered the lower rate if we purchased the maintenance agreement. He acted like a 5 year old that got denied a cookie from a cookie jar. Well, we weren't happy with him, but we got through it. Then came time to give us keys and there was only one set. I asked for second and was told there wasn't any. So, they told me that I should have asked if a second key was with the car. Bullcrap. So after some talk I was promised a second key. That was 18 December and today is 12 Jan and no keys, only excuses. Then my bank calls and tells me that they didn't pay off the full amount for my trade. That hasn't been resolved as of this date either. FWIW, I've purchased new and used cars from dealers for over 50 years and this has been without a doubt the worst treatment I have ever experienced. I wish I would have checked here before we went to look at the Explorer. I will be trading my '21 F150 for a new truck shortly and will not even think of going to the Noller Ford dealership. There's no way I would recommend these people to anyone. The kid that sold us the car was great, and I hope he has success, but he only will at a different dealership. Today I received a keyfob that I ordered from a different dealer and used a program called FORSCAN to program the fob to the Explorer. I serously doubt i will be reimbursed for the purchase but I also am not going to pay the difference between what they sent to my bank and the amount that was owed. That amount was over $400 so they don't get a title until this is resolved. read more

Tried to buy a car. The web site showed a good price. Called them and spoke to Colin. I asked for a solid out the door price which he quoted me. When I asked for written verification via text or email of that price before I drove to Lawrence, he said that was no problem. It never arrived. I called back three hours later and was told he was busy but would be left the message. No written verification received. I wish I would have read the reviews before working with Laird Noller. We bought a used car and was told the check emissions light was "taken care of" and that it should not come back on. We negotiated this with the salesman at the time of our purchase. Guess what...it's back on within a week! We were told it would take time but would go off. It did...but then back on. This has happened 5-6 more times and I have pictures of each and every time. We take it to have them honor their word that they would take care of this problem only to be told they did fix it! Don't trust any of the people you work with as they are not true to their word! Take pictures, record your conversations as it seems that no one "remembers" their agreement. read more

Attempted to obtain photos from this dealership upon stumbling across a listing that had none. Two different employees tried to connive their way into me giving them my phone number, stating "we cannot email photos". Knowing they would harass me until the day I die, I did not give up this information. A third employee reached out asking for my number again and I told them to send me photos via email and stop pretending they cannot. This was met with a snarky ":)" from employee Dillon Hunt that the vehicle had sold... probably has not but I sure am glad I did not have the opportunity to do business with this snake oil dealership. read more

Went with my son who was looking for a car. We felt they weren't being transparent and didn't answer our questions. We felt we needed to leave as they kept changing the financing and weren't answering those questions. When we tried to leave they wanted us to sign financial paperwork in 5 minutes. When we told them we needed to come back Monday and we intended to do that, 3 guys literally chased us out of the dealership yelling and one even came over to the car window and was barraging us with questions. Set up an appointment for my Genesis two weeks ago. Two week wait time. Well, today arrives, and nobody shows up for concierge service to pick up my vehicle. I call them and they say they don't handle genesis anymore. I ask why I wasn't notified of this, and why I got an appointment confirmation text yesterday. Brought my car in for a 9 o'clock appointment for an oil change and to replace a recalled fuse. After 2 hours I had to borrow one of their cars for a doctors appointment. Came back at 1 and my car was still not ready. This was with a 9:00 appointment. At three I went to find a manager. She told him to give me 20 dollars off bill. I insisted on my car back and told them I felt 6 hours of my time was worth more than 20. I again asked for my car back. he threw the bill in my face and told me to get the hell out of his shop. Never take your car to this dealership to have any work done. I took my car there to have 3 recalls taken care of. After I left the dealership my car started missing and white smoke coming out of the back. I called the service manager and he said they noticed a knock in my engine. It seemed like this was going to be the diagnosis of the issue not what they had done for the recalls. We really like the Tucson we purchased. And since the purchase the Service department has been really good. However, nothing can make up for the fact that the sales team was dishonest--first about pricing, claiming that even though we had a quote from CarSmart they were obligated to try to sell the car for a higher price, so the first quote they gave was a couple grand higher than CarSmart. When we called them on it they apologized. The salesman said that the manager wouldn't let him honor the proper price. Once we got the price settled, the manager said that it turned out they didn't have a finance person in the Iowa Street dealership after all, so he had a salesperson drive me to the 23rd street location where I waited over two hours just to begin the purchase process. Worst experience ever!! The sales reps are blatantly deceitful and the finance rep flies through the paperwork and does not give you an opportunity to review it or ask questions. Shame on me for signing the documents but I had already spent over three hours there listening to so many numbers, payments etc. that my head hurt and just wanted to get it done. I'm sure this tactic is standard operating procedure. They changed the term to 75 months from 72 without telling me but acted like they had 'worked really hard' and were able to lower the payment. They never provided an option without warranties even though they claimed they did. Once my head stopped spinning the next day I realized all of this. I tried to call the finance guy and had to leave messages for two days before finally reaching him. He never did return my call. Said he would fix the loan but when I went in there to do so he was unavailable. Talked to another finance guy on 23rd and Alabama who said I could go and meet him that evening. When I got there he was in meeting with someone and had to leave afterwards but I could schedule an appointment. They are available when selling the car but once you realize they have screwed you then they are no longer available. Everyone at Laird Noller, both Lawrence locations, perpetuate the stereotype that car sales people are shady and dishonest. I'm new to Yelp so don't know if I can give zero stars but would if I could. Negative stars is suitable. read more
