Came here on a Sunday, we got seated fast (2 people), good service and the foods came out super quick. It was good food and made order because the meals were hot temperature wise and tasted fresh.

A cute little breakfast/brunch spot. We saw the great yelp reviews and decided to stop in for breakfast, boy are we glad we did. Service is quick and with a smile, and the food is delicious. We started with the Mekitsi which are little fried crumpets with fresh fruit and honey. Everything we ordered was fantastic, but the Eggs Panagura was next level delicious. It's poached eggs sitting on a cloud of whipped feta. Yum. They have mimosa flights as well as several other house cocktails, beer and wine.

My boyfriend was born and raised in Bulgaria. We stopped by Nom Cafe for brunch on NY day and were very impressed by the food. The kifte and lutenitsa hit very close to home for him. Cheers to the owners!

Quick service and the food was delicious. Enjoyed the mushroom scrambler. A hard to spot place but well worth finding it.

Great food, Bulgarian is not something I expected to find in Portland but it absolutely hits the spot. I probably need to come back tomorrow and mix it up somewhat, if I lived here I'd consider coming every week. Pretty fantastic!

One of the BEST brunches I've had. Their bloody Mary's were heavenly and the mushroom toast was out of this world - creamy, flavorful, salty, mushroomy. All the right things. Service was great - quick, helpful, kind. The vibe was bustling. Busy but quaint and very homely. The restaurant is beautifully decorated.

We went on busy Saturday but they sat us fast. Quick service and interesting breakfast food. Very yummy but slightly expensive for breakfast. Good vegetarian options

We were in town for Soccer. We found this place after finding a 1hr wait at our first choice. Happy we did. Cute little place. We were seated quickly, although we just beat the rush. I had the Shakshuka and daughter had waffles. Both were delicious. A little pricey for breakfast but worth it for a passerby looking for a good meal.

Came here after morning run and wanted brunch. This was an accidental visit, but my belly was beyond happy! I had the kyufte and eggs, which is apparently a Bulgarian meatball and eggs. It was amazing along with my coffee. I was so glad and grateful to come here to satiate my hunger.

I went to Nom Cafe located on 23 Forest Ave in Portland Maine this past weekend with my aunt and mom. This cute brunch spot features classic balkan and middle eastern dishes. For starters we had mekitsi which were crumpets filled with cheese and served with Maine honey. These were unlike anything I've ever had (I can only compare it to Brazilian cheese bread expect this had different cheese on the inside!) This was a must get dish 10/10. We also got the shopska which was a bulgarian salad with heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, feta and parsley. This was such a refreshing salad and if you love tomatoes you'd really be in heaven 8/10. For main dishes we got the signature shakshuka this is a tomato and red pepper stew topped with eggs. The eggs were very much combined with the tomato and came with a great array of bread 9/10. We also got the kyufte and eggs this is a classic bulgarian dish with bulgarian sausage, fried eggs and a side salad. The sausage on this plate was so delicious and one of my favorites here 9/10. Finally, we got the eggs panagura which had two poached eggs served over sheep feta spread. The sheep feta spread was insanely tasty and was a true delight to eat. This also came with some tasty bread on the side. I highly recommend this spot if you are not only looking to try something new for breakfast but also if just want something tasty to start your day. Food: 9/10 Affordability: 7/10 Ambiance: 8/10

Before I rip them a new one, let me be totally up front and say the service was very good. Like many places in the Portland area, they're short staffed, and the people who work there are doing the best they can. Friendly, like genuinely friendly and nice waitstaff. They're doing the best they can with too few people. So, to be clear if any management read this? Your staff is fantastic. The food? That's another story. They used to have things on the menu like roasted Brussels Sprouts with all kinds of delicious. There was a pot roast, cooked over three days, which melted in your mouth, with truffle oil and parsnips and carrots. The cocktails? WAY above par. Now you may as well go to Applebees. Over seasoned, boring, and generally NOT worth the money by a long shot. It just tastes like all the other places who use Sysco or Gordon foods. I had the burger, which was so average. I mean REMARKABLY average. Yes, the lettuce on it was actually not just boring iceberg, but that doesn't make up for serving someone a mass produced, firmly packed slab with way too much salt. It says it's some fancy farm beef, but it sure as heck didn't taste like it. The dish my wife had was similar. Some decent ingredients but for the most part it was literally no better than what you'd get in something in a mall. WAY too much salt, way too little flavor. I also ordered a Manhattan. In a Manhattan, the forward flavor should be the whiskey (rye or bourbon or whatever). All I could taste was vermouth. AND it was served in a highball glass with a massive ice cube, and it was warm. The ingredients should go in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, with ice, then stirred for at least 15 seconds while stirring. It should be served in a cocktail glass like a coup or a martini glass which has been chilled. Mine was in a highball glass. Not sure what happened, but I'm sure profits had something to do with it. You've got dozens of better choices in easy walking distance.

We also enjoyed the hand cut fries - can add truffle powder to it - and the spelt bread. For cocktails I had the dirty moon martini, which was just the right amount of dirt. Which based on everything we had I completely understand why, this place makes incredible food and drinks. Overall it has a great inviting feeling to the space. To start off I enjoyed a Morning Bun Latte while my wife got the Honey & Juniper Latte. Both came out perfect temperature with well done latte art and delicious taste. My wife was obsessed with their pottery mugs that the lattes came served in. Food wise we were looking to split everything and it worked perfectly. We ended up choosing French Toast, Soft Scrambled Eggs, and the Fried Potatoes side. Every dish would be an absolute no brainer for us to order again. Every bite of food kept us wanting even more. Lastly we grabbed a chocolate croissant to go and that was just as tasty and enjoyed it after our visit. After this visit it is certainly a new favorite spot of ours, and look forward to coming back! I've already got a few visits under my belt and liked them enough to have bought a souvenir mug. First visit actually reviewing was a breakfast trying the Hobson's Sampler with eggs, meat, homefries, toast, pancakes, and many choices among them. -- Scrambled Eggs: Nothing remarkable but no mistakes. Cooked just right, avoiding brownage and runny goopage. -- Homefries: Cut into non-cubes with heights less than the widths, achieving better crispness that way. Good variety of textures. Not much seasoning or onion, but solid homefries. -- Sausage Links (3): Standard. Lightly crisped, still juicy. Seems easy, but hardly anyone does them this well. -- English Muffin: I told the server to skip the toast, seeing there'd be plenty of carbs with the two pancakes, but she strongly recommended trying the English muffins, since they were homemade. Great flavor, great choice. Will have these again and I recommend you try them too. -- Pancakes (2): Fluffy and delicious. And big. Not elite, but really close. Enough that you'd have to go to 10 other places before finding one better. Just a great all-around place. No wow factor, but on every visit (all breakfasts), everything was good, right down to the efficient and friendly service.
