Our 1971 Chevy C10 needed replacement of the left side rocker and left side floor. I spoke with Dave at Nomad Auto Body and on April 9, 2025, he came to our home to look at the truck. Dave left saying he would contact me with an estimate. About a week later, I received the call with the $4K estimate and told he requires three payments with the first being a third of the total just to secure the date of May 5th. I was skeptical but went ahead and paid $1500 of the $4,103.12 total, on April 14, 2025. The evening of Monday, May 5, 2025, the C-10 was taken in and although no work would be done this day, the turnaround time was to be the end of the week (4 business days). On (Wednesday, May 7, 2025), I received a call indicating an additional $800 was needed that day. It was not clear what additional work was needed so I decided to go in person. Once there, the explanation still was not satisfactory, the verbal exchange became unprofessional and Dave ended up insisting on having the full balance due. Any work on the truck was at a standstill. I left with the intent to bring the full balance due so the work could just be complete. I returned around noon and Dave was gone for the day. I returned the following day (Thursday, May 8, 2025), with my wife asking for a breakdown of the additional cost. The invoice previously had 25.6 hours of labor, totaling $3,854.00 and parts totaling $231.20 plus tax ($17.92). The only work performed was minimal on Tuesday, May 6th and/or before the call of Wednesday, May 7th. They had removed the door and bumper but the truck was parked out front so I asked that these items be reinstalled because I decided to take the truck and leave. Beware of Nomad Auto Body. Their prices (particularly labor) are excessive. They get your money to lock you in to agreeing with any additional costs that stack up to a totally unreasonable amount. read more

CUSTOMER BEWARE, THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! In early April I had the owner Dave give me an estimate for my 66 Mustang paint and minor body work. Once he sanded off the existing paint he found additional body work to be done, which he added @ $2,000 to the estimate, no problem, let's do it I said. After 7.5 months and so many excuses such as "It's too hot to paint your car right now", then "It's now too cold to color sand it". Seriously!? And this was from Dave, the owner! After all this I came to pick up my car only to find the paint chipped and uneven, fingerprints in the paint, not color sanded, gaps not even close to being aligned, paint runs, they shimmed my fender with washers and various metal. Just a terrible job from a shop that has no quality control whatsoever, and an owner with incredibly low standards. read more

The Shop is the epitome of what Great! is. The owner Dave and Mechanic Steve are Awesome. They both take time to not only explain to me what they're doing but they showed me what they were talking about. I promise you I never left the shop feeling as ignorant as I did upon arrival because they both made sure I understood what they were doing. I believe the patience,dedication and experience they exhibited was worth all time and money spent. If they don't know something they will tell you they don't know. Honesty,Integrity and High Moral Standards are all apart of their make up. If you're looking for an Old School Car Shop with these qualities , for me this is it. I was not planning to write a review, but after seeing the recent review, I decided my review may help others avoid the pain I went through with Nomad. What I've learned from all this is that the age of the Yelp review matters a lot. I took my 68 Chevelle to Nomad in July of 2022 to add new style hood hinges and replace the drivers fender. I told Dave "better right than quick". I also told him I was not concerned about cost as long as he did it right. Dave told me the best way to ensure proper blending was to let him repaint the entire front clip of the car, I gave my OK. Over the next six weeks I called Dave from time to time and reminded him each time that I was OK with it taking time since I truly believed "better right than quick". I picked the car up about 1 1/2 months later and it was far from being right. In the six weeks it was in the shop, Dave's team spent 17 hours on the car. When I went to pick up the car, they had it inside their shop, which should have been my first warning sign. When reviewing the car, inside the shop, I mentioned a couple of small issues, which Dave assured me would wash right off. I also mentioned the new hood hinges were not tightened so the hood moved side to side when opening. Dave's worker tightened the hood at which point I drove the car home. The next day, I pulled the car into the sun for my review. It was just one flaw after another and by the end it was embarrassing to have the car sitting outside. I immediately called Dave to discuss the issues. He agreed to come to my house the next day to review. Every issue I found, Dave agreed needed to be corrected and told me he would get the car in quick to make the corrections. In the conversation he also assured me no repaint would be needed and all the issues could be resolved with a good detail. Over the next 3 months, I contacted Dave every couple of weeks to get a date when he would bring it in the correct the problems. Each time I was given the same excuse, that he had to just finish a couple of insurance jobs to make sure he had room in his shop for what he promised to be a thorough and detailed correction of all issues. After 3 months I had reached my patience limit and requested a refund of the labor cost to allow me to pursue other avenues for correction. On January 27, I had a high-end detailer, the guy works major concourse level car shows, come over to review the issues Nomad had assured me were simple items than could be corrected with a good detail. The detailer told me corrections using detail methods did not appear possible and recommended I find another body shop to make the corrections, which would require a repaint. So now I am looking for a new shop to correct the issues caused by Nomad due to their unwillingness to make a timely correction. I would like to add that I do feel the owner of Nomad, Dave, is a nice guy but he has to really step up his quality control steps to bring his shop back to what it once was. Below is the actual list discussed with Nomad: 1) Left/Right window pillars down where it meets fender. Orange peel and noticeable paint blend. The orange peel makes it super noticeable. 2) Left inside door panel front shows discoloration and/or dirt/overspray 3) Glue residue inside driver's and passenger door panels. I know it can be removed but it needed to be done before waxing the car. 4) Looks like an over-buff down to base coat on passenger side quarter panel very close to passenger door lock. Same issue in center of driver's door (multiple on driver's door) 5) Paint run on new fender in front of turn signal. 2nd paint run near back of fender. Both very visible in the sun. Found third run along edge of wheel well. 6) It appears the install of the chrome strip on the back of the hood may have ripped the paint or the chrome was left on when painting...neither is good. 7) What appears to be scratches in paint on driver's side front hood corner and new fender 8) Orange peel inside new fender 9) We've already discussed the painting issues around the hood lip. It just feels rough all around the hood and looks bad. I was surprised the hood was not painted off the car so this would have not occurred. 10) Paint on new driver's side hood hinge. 11) Paint residue on both black rubber hood bumpers on driver's side 12) Fender bolt not seated inside driver's side wheel well 13) Missing bolt in driver's side inner fender front 14) Dip in new front fender along hood line near back. Can feel with finger. 15) Broke rubber grommets on driver's door handle as well as broke seal along top of door. 16) Driver's door handle button sticks 17) Discoloration below driver's door handle 18) Visible paint line on driver's side lower quarter panel near door. 19) There are black marks on both seats and the shift knob that I cannot figure out where they came from. I not for sure the shift knob was not marred before so I'm assuming they all are black paint from other work in your shop. read more

I had the absolute best experience at Nomad. My Subaru had a scratch along the side and I needed the panel replaced and the parts to be painted. Dave and his team gave me a same day quote and ordered the parts I needed. I dropped my car off on Monday and it was done by Thursday. My car looks amazing and you can't tell there was any damage, the paint is matched perfectly. I didn't pay a dollar over the quote amount and Dave updated me over email throughout the process. Just got my car back from Nomad and its looking great!! I crashed my 2017 Ford Fiesta 4 weeks ago and I talked to a few shops before picking Nomad Auto Body. Dave was incredibly professional and knowledgeable during the whole process. During my first visit he went through my estimate and helped me understand the damage and the repairs. Dave did custom color matching for us and it turned out great! It was a special gold pearl matte that was so new that it couldn't even be purchased yet from the mfg. Dave kept testing blended colors until he got a perfect match. I was so pleased with his customer service as he came out to my house for the consult and kept me informed the whole time. Family owned Auto Body Repair business. They do not contract with insurance companies because they believe you come first. They protect your interest in getting the best quality parts and repair work possible. I brought in my truck, the appraiser had not include some major damage to my vehicle. Dave had the appraiser come back, identified and discussed the additional damage then worked the the insurance company to ensure that EVERYTHING was covered. It took the stress out of a stressful experience and felt like I was represented rather than being pushed through the process. Definately 5+ stars here!!! Outstanding service!!! I had the day from hell..103 degrees out, having kids that had to be run all over town and my car breaks down. I could not afford to have my car in the shop for days...I needed it immediately and I am on a very tight budget. The employees at Nomad went above and beyond...my car broke down on the next block from where they are located, not only did they send their employees over to push my car to their garage-I accidently locked my keys in the car and they opened it for me at no charge. They discovered that my alarm system was interfering with other things in the car(I am not good with auto part terms!)plus I had blown a fuse. In less then 2 hours my car was up and running and I spent very little. Please note that I am a female and they treated me with respect. I own a 2013 Kia Forte which needed the rear bumper cover and right rear tail light replaced.I was referred to David, the owner, met him yesterday morning and told him I had already purchased the items, and asked for an estimate of repair and was given a very reasonable and fair price. Last night, I decided to call (after hours and left a voicemail), also called this morning while on the way to his shop, arriving about 7:15 am. Without a scheduled appointment, Dave and his team had me in and out, back on the road in 1 1/2 hours. Also, I pointed out a few unsightly marks on my car which Dave removed at no extra charge. 8 months ago, I went to Nomad based on the referral of a friend. Perfect is an understatement! Heck, the car looks better than when I brought it in. They even vacumed the interior...seriously, these guys are great. Super friendly, honest and a true dedication to perfection in their work. My 1991 Toyota was in need of body repair. I went to Yelp and read all of the comments that ordinary people like me made about the quality of work at the different body shops in the greater Sacramento area. All the reports on Nomad Auto Body were good. I drove over to Nomad and met the owner, Dave. Right away you could see he's honest, kind and hardworking. Dave said he only used first quality parts when doing repairs. He immediately got on the phone and tracked down the parts needed for my repairs. Then he quoted me a reasonable price. I left the car on a Friday and it was returned to me the following Friday, right on time as they had promised. The body repairman, Trong, takes great pride in his work. It is evident when you look at my car. What is special about this place is that the money you are paying for your auto repair isn't going to a huge corporation, it's going to send Dave's champion soccer player daughter to college and to Trong's large family. Got into a pretty bad car accident on a stormy Tuesday night..the other guy's insurance was going to pay for everything and they suggested several places To go to, but I decided to come here because of all the great stuff I read on yelp.. I'll tell you what.. their customer service was amazing! I came in on Wednesday and Dave(owner) himself was there to greet me.. not only did he answer all of my questions, he went through every part of my car to assure if there weren't any damages that the adjuster missed.. he sticks up for his customers and makes sure that they're taken care of.. he also kept in contact with me almost daily and sent me e-mails of progress..always answered when I called and even drove out to my apartment to get my check signed(the first one bounced because the insurance cancelled it).. talk about going out of his way..Dave and his crew work wonders and I don't mind returning..(knock on wood) thanks Dave! read more

I just purchased a new car, at least new to me, but it came with some fender damage. Since I drove by this shop every day on my way to work, and I knew it was a smaller, locally owned shop...I decided to give it a try since I always like to support the smaller businesses. I went in and spoke with Dave, who was very personable and did a great job of explaining my options. I took his quote and went to a few other shops for quotes, a couple of larger shops, and a couple of smaller shops. In the end, Dave's shop was well priced...but not the cheapest. Not the cheapest, but definitely the best quality for the price. If you are going to get body work, DO NOT CHEAP OUT!!! Long story, short...great experience!! Dave was awesome to talk with, very honest and friendly. The work was immaculate...can't even slightly detect that there was ever any damage. I was very pleased with both customer service and the work performed. I had only a small crease in the door, but I had a lot of questions and Dave was very patient and knowledgeable about working with the insurance company. He had my car torn apart, worked with the adjuster and had a new insurance estimate within one day. I love that he called me the day before the car was finished so that I could arrange to return the rental car, then called the day of with an estimated time of completion, then had it completed before that time so I didn't have to wait. A neighbor's visitor backed into our 2000 Toyota Tacoma pick up; it was a hard hit, moving the truck back a couple of feet.with a vehicle this "old" there is a risk that the damage will cost more than the vehicle is worth. Our truck only has 154000 miles, the interior is near perfect, it runs great, new tires and shocks... we did not want to lose it, how would we ever replace this truck with another for the money the insurance would give is? Lucky - unlucky for us was prior damage (not properly repaired about 8 years ago), and the damage from this event was less than the value of the truck. That means we could keep the truck and find someone who could repair the old damage then the new damage. Dave at Nomad gave us a price we could afford, unlike the first body shop, who would have done all the work for double to triple the insurance check (at least that shop informed us to try a smaller shop). The work is beautiful and took care of the slap happy work done 8 years ago. Good work, good price, great attitude. I hope I never need Nomad services again, but I'll go back any day. read more
