We wanted a decent Roman dinner near our hotel in Monti. This restaurant popped up in my list and had pretty good reviews. We sat outside. It was a bit cool but want too uncomfortable. The server came out immediately and took our drink order. We waited quite awhile for drinks but it was busy as three tables sat down outside around the same time. After our drinks came, we waited awhile to order food. (Read:longer than normal). We ordered and once again the server was nowhere to be seen. FINALLY, he came out to give food to another table that ordered after us. I understand as some foods take less time to prepare but it is unnerving. We got our antipasto which was calamari and it was so salty. I mean really salty! Additionally, there were no dipping sauces, so they did bring out some marinara when I asked. For dinner, my partner ordered the Veal saltimbocca. Sounded amazing but unfortunately it was was dry, overcooked, and almost cold. The presentation was lacking and mundane. It was Presented very poorly on the plate. My pasta was ok. The bite to it was a little underdone. A bit more than al dente. It was also a bit salty. I know I mentioned being salty for two items. I like my food pretty salty in general so for me to say it's salty.....it's salty! Overall, I was pretty disappointed with the meal. I probably would not return here to eat again. read more

Adragnas family of four??? That was us in late June of this year. I'm half Sicilian and I am home chef and when my family and I decided we were going to take a month long tour of Italy we were all connoisseurs of Italian fare. I was taught by my dad how to cook all I wanted at the end of our tour was to finally find a place for some authentic Italian. This is the place. We ate here for dinner twice. First off they stole my red sauce recipe!!! When I ordered the ox tails and pasta!!! My son ordered Pasta with seafood, my wife ordered the lasagna, and my daughter ordered carbonara. So... I take my first bite and I immediately recognize that I made this. These are my ox tails and sauce. I asked how everybody was doing and how the food was and everybody loved the food. I asked my wife if she wanted a bite and she stated that she was fine. I asked my son (who is 18 and never says no to food) and he quickly ate, swallowed, and rinsed his palate with a water with gas. I gently pull out a portion of the ox tail, fork some pasta and swirl in sauce. I push the fork towards him and in it goes. he takes one bite, his face light up and says OMFG!!! That's yours!!! That's your sauce and Ox tails!!! This was said pretty loudly and my daughter and wife now ask for bites. The consensus was a resounding OMFG!!! We were laughing and making noise and the waiter comes over to see what was up. We ended up telling him that they had the best red sauce with Ox tails in Rome. He was happy but couldn't believe that I cook the same recipe. Needless to say everybody was happy with their meal and I was ecstatic! We came the next evening and my family ended up having the Ox tails, tripe, pasta, all with the sauce. Authentic!!! read more

We were your cliche 'Americani' walking around looking for a place to eat when we saw this guy, walk across the street from his shop to Non C' è Trippa pe' Gatti with his hands full of dirty dishes. He was returning his dirty dishes from lunch. I thought if the locals were eating here, then we were too. It was delicious! Yes the service was slow, yes the waiters were cranky and yes, they gave us the wrong order and then argued with us about it. Hilarious! They have good pricing for a great amount of serving! We loved the chicken with tomato sauce, my pasta really tastes seafood, my husband's lamb chops are yummy, everything we ordered are actually great! I cannot say enough about this restaurant!! My husband and I spent a wonderful nine days in Rome and I think we ate our dinner here at least five nights. The wait staff is amazingly friendly, the food is authentic, the prices are reasonable, and I love that you can sit outside. Everything from pasta to pizza to seafood to native Roman specialties - - this restaurant has it all. And who does not love the name "don't trip over the cat!" Very nice place in a good area with friendly staff, reasonable prices and an authentic atmosphere. We landed there by accident trying to sit down for the restaurant next to it but it worked out alright I guess‍. For starters we had bruschetta which was well priced & yummy. Definitely recommend! For the main we got the carbonara and the cacio e pepe, both were big and left us happy and satisfied. (That's what she said) Jokes aside, the pasta portions were so big we took enough home to have a late night pasta snack. Only 4 stars because the pasta was slightly over cooked and the carbonara was cooked on too high heat which caused the egg to scramble a little bit. Otherwise tutto bene!! read more

We had a great experience at this restaurant. We hadn't made reservations for the evening so we were given a long wait time everywhere we went, however, there was an open table here. We ordered the chicken salad, fried zuchini flowers, Lasagna, pasta ragu, the steak plate with potatoes and the chicken breast with potatoes; everything was delicious. Walked into this place because it was convenient. The other restaurant we were looking for (recommended on Yelp) was closed and it was time for lunch. WHAT A GREAT PLACE! Clean, unpretentious decor. Welcoming staff and air conditioned (!) on a warm August day. Perfect. Most tables were full, many with people speaking Italian (another good omen). What really caught my eye were the prices; almost every item was under 10 Euro. Appetizers, first courses, second courses; almost everything 10 Euro or less. We had a Mista salad, pasta bolognese and a veggie pizza for € 27. The Mista salad was fresh and big enough to share. The bolognese was "WOW". That was me speaking after each mouthful. The best bolognese I have ever had; ever! We stopped the waiter to offer our compliments to the chef. The table next to us overheard our comments and volunteered their meal was also amazing. Our veggie pizza was also very good. The crust was thin and baked to perfection. The chef attempted to explain the name of the restaurant. Literal translation: "not even tripe for the cats". Too long a story for me to tell here. It begins with Rome's reputation for cats in 1915. GO THERE! ENJOY A GREAT MEAL! Ask him yourself if you're Italian is really conversational. read more

Walked in after walking miles in Vatican City and for a place to eat, heading towards my hotel. Glad I did. I had the Carbonara, which was great. Creamy sauce, el dente pasta n crispy panchetta. What more can I ask for from an 8 euro pasta dish? Two reasons why I am not giving 5 stars - the waiter did not check on me, not even once during the meal and the folks in the kitchen were fighting n it was really loud..wish I could have understood...Oh and the wine selection is limited which is fine by me since I only want a basic red. For 8 euro, got the smaller bottle that comes out to be two full glasses. I say it's worth a visit if you're heading south from Termini off Via Cavour n need a place to eat. read more

Wow, what can I say? It's a garbage tourist trap. Everyone there was some sort of tourist, whether they were American, Spanish or Chinese. Very few real Italians there. The food was as mediocre as you can get. We ordered what happened to be pork chops with a salad on the side and a guess what, the prom chop was dry, the seasoning was awful, and the salad lettuce was blackened already. The waiters were a mixed bag. The one who took our order was not too bad, a standard Italian waiter, aka a slight bit rude but nothing out of the ordinary. The one who took our money was garbage though. I don't know how else to describe him. I consider him human filth and I hope the restaurant gets shut down because of how terrible he treats the customers. read more

Their pasta is OK, but not great. We had the risotto seafood, and Sicilian style short pasta. Not impressed with either one. Adequate job, but not something I'd go put for. They won't serve tap water, instead you must bring your own water or pay for bottled water. read more

This place is the best! We came here by accident and returned 2 more times on our trip. The pizza is the best we had in all of Europe. The drinks are cheap and the service is awesome. We are from California so we like to eat dinner around 6pm which is surprisingly hard to do in Italy. We got some wine an appetizer, pizza, lasagna, THE BEST tiramisu and some cappuccinos for less than 40 euro. The service here is really good too. Highly recommend this gem. read more
