Food was very good. We sent my husbands salad back after finding not one but 2 hairs in it (after he shared 1/3 of it with me). Hostess said she'd go get the manager to come speak with us. Lobster ravioli was really good. The lasagna was good too. I'm looking forward to going back soon. My friend had shrimp scampi and that looked tasty. We came here because our power was out in upper marlboro. This was a place that was on my must try list. Our friend and her husband had been here before so she was able to recommend a few items. We got there a little before 8 and were seated immediately in the dining room. The manager never came thru to check on us about the hair in the salad AND it wasn't removed from our bill. Went here for my birthday with my parents and husband during the week. We were seated right away and ordered a bottle of wine for the table. The restaurant looks homey, good for couples or families and there were a lot of people seated at the bar. Everything was delicious so much that we ordered again a few weeks later when we had craving for Italian food. We ordered the penne alla vodka and Marcello pizza both times. You must try! My mom ordered the cream of crab soup and the amount of crab to soup ratio was the right amount- glad she let me try a bite! We actually went here instead of Carrabba's and it was the best decision. This is now my go to for Italian! Also, for those celebrating a birthday at this spot, they just bring out your dessert and candle without any singing so no need to be shy of you come on you birthday but the dessert is not free. read more

Filipe was an AMAZING server! He was very knowledgeable on the history of the restaurant. He brought out bread for us the many times we asked! He gave us time to think of what we wanted, too. The food was delicious and fresh. I don't typically like mushrooms, but I got the short rib ravioli and it was great! I love how they keep salt and pepper at the table for taste. In my almost 28 years in this area, I only recently found out about this gem. I'd driven past it too many times to count. It probably had something to do with the fact that it's located behind the Burger King. Well, thanks to my cousin who recommended the restaurant (we went there prior to going to the BowiePlayhouse - FABULOUS Production of Dream Girls in case you were wondering! Kayla Adams and the rest of the cast were phenomenal). Lucky for us. We arrived during happy hour which is from 4 to 7 daily now that alone is enough to make you go, however you will not be disappointed when you try the most traditional Italian food that any Nonna would make lovingly for you. we started with fried calamari that came out golden brown and made to order. It looked delicious and it was! Perfectly salted, nice pieces of calamari with some of the classic Marinara sauce...oh my goodness! The drinks were not only beautiful but had a wonderful flavor profile. I had a limoncello spritzer that was refreshing and not too sweet as they can sometimes be. My niece raved about her strawberry spritzer and my cousin had a glass of white wine. I often play a game, "This or That" where I give the waiter two choices and he picks one for me. I always count on the waiter to pick the right dish and Richie did not disappoint!! Hmmmm! Thin layers of noodles nestled between creamy ricotta and meat sauce, oooey gooey mozzarella tops of the dish with that irresistible marinara. So good!! Our waitress, Whitney (yes we had more than one server) checked in often to assure that we had a pleasant experience. I wanted to stay longer but off to the playhouse. I try to be real stingy about giving 5 star reviews on yelp but nonna Angela's totally deserves it. I've eaten here at least four times now and the food is consistently outstanding. The service is excellent too. The crab risotto and fettuccine zafferano are just two standout entrees among many delicious choices, and the desserts are absolutely off-the-charts fantastic. The only issue I've ever had is one time a special I ordered had a higher price on the check than what was written on the special board. But the dish was delicious, and when I pointed out the discrepancy, they promptly adjusted the bill. So I advise always to read your check carefully, and get yourself to nonna Angela's for some terrific Italian food. read more

First off, this is not remotely Italian. It's authentic Italian-American though, and if you've eaten real Italian food in Italy you'll know what I mean. Decor was Italian-American to the core, red and white tablecloths, retro European ad posters etc. Food was ok, nothing great but nothing bad either. Service was good. Only real negative was the overwhelming fishy smell in the bar coming from the kitchen. Not sure what was off, the Calamari or the crab but something definitely wasn't fresh. read more

My friends and I went pretty late in the evening. We had drinks- my friends got the Limoncello and I got the Pear Margherita...we all loved them! They were strong but still sweet enough to enjoy (I don't like too sweet). One of my friends got the short rib- I'm not a red meat eater, but it looked delicious and cut like butter. I got the shrimp/gamberi in a parmesan cream sauce...so good! I got crab ravioli to go- also good, even the next day! Everything had fresh garlic and was full of flavor. Went in expecting everything to knock my socks off. I would give an honest 3 1/2 stars, so I rounded up here. Place was cute, not too loud even though it was pretty busy about 5 on a Saturday. Our server could have been a little more attentive. We started with the special shrimp bruschetta, nothing special. Unfortunately it was a large piece of shrimp on top of each slice, so it wasn't really practical to eat them together. The Aranci was pretty good, nice and cheesy. The eggplant parm was near perfection, so fresh and not overly breaded or fried. The sauce on the angel hair was pretty plain and simple, while probably very traditional, it lacked flavor for me. For dessert we had affogato with the Carmel gelato instead of the traditional vanilla and it was great! I would definitely go back for the eggplant parm & affogato but would try other apps. read more

Nonna Angela's is by far the best restaurant in the area to host a large party. Not sure what the max size of a party in their more private dining space is; but we had 40 and you could probably fit at least 10 more. Our server Richie and his assistant were amazing and attentive. You can come early to set up/decorate. Separate checks are easily accommodated without attitude (rare for some restaurants), and the food and drinks are great My family has had at least 3 large parties here and it's been great every time! No charge to rent the room, just a $25 cake fee if you bring your own. 10/10 experience for my Mom's 60th Birthday yesterday. Thank you Nonna Angela's! read more

We decided to come here for a great friend's birthday dinner per her recommendation. Well, she surely didn't steer us wrong! Wowzers! Now I understand why so many were waiting for to get a taste of some truly amazing Italian food! Nonna Angela's is tucked away in a "strip mall" somewhere in between Bowie and (just before) Crofton. There is a small private parking lot that fills quickly on their busy nights. We arrived at approximately 6:30 on a Saturday night and were told of a 40min wait. I was hangry but we decided to stick it out. It was SO worth the wait!! We started out with Brussels sprouts (not pictured because we crushed them immediately after they hit the table) and ordered our entrees. I ordered the Fettuccine Zafferano and it was DELICIOUS! The rest of our party ordered Penne Alla Vodka with blackened chicken (she loved it), and the birthday girl ordered her favorite Chicken Parmigiana! We rounded out the dinner with an order of churros with ice cream that was to die for!! Tonight started with the stuffed portobello appetizer special. AFTER, of course, the personal size rolls with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and roasted garlic to dip the bread in. Main courses were tortellini Al pesto and gnocchi Gorgonzola. Both were fabulous. I was curious about walnuts topping my Gorgonzola gnocchi for dinner but it was perfect. Too full for dessert we just feasted our eyes on the desserts rolling out of the kitchen... next time we'll do a backwards dinner and start with dessert! Oh! Visited for my husbands birthday with family. Server was great. Very attentive and friendly. Omw had the Shrimp Fridavalo it was very tasty. Portion could have been a tab bigger. My niece had the chicken parm and the portion size was huge. Everyone had different things and everyone loved their food. A few of them also ordered wine and loved the wine. This place is PHENOMENAL! And I do not use that description lightly. We are new to the area and had heard good things but never expected Italian food on par with Cafe Mezzanotte (Severna Park) in a frankly rather dowdy strip mall. How they were able to build a first class kitchen and wait staff there is a wonder-but we are so thrilled they did. We have been a half dozen times thus far and the consistency has been remarkable. To name a few: the most delicious shrimp appetizer (ever!) with a garlic parmesan cream sauce, salmon beautifully cooked with a crispy char, moist center, vodka penne with the most impressive depth of flavor, exquisite shrimp parmesan and pasta that is always perfectly cooked. Worst dinner in a long time. First they told us it was 1/2 price for bottles of wine & we order 2 bottles that we normally would not have ordered due to the price. "Oh sorry - wrong night" our server told us after drinking them. We challenged them & finally they would only honor 1/2 for 1 bottle. I think that was really unfair as they should have honoured both. I was served a Cesar salad w chicken & I was questioned if I got my order wrong. However to be fair my friends were happy with their entrees & the special looked good (big crab cake) Service: this is the best (worst) part. We made reservations a couple of weeks in advance. The person who reserved was told the restaurant would close at 9pm for their employee party. No problem. Yet when we arrived at 6 we were told we had to leave at 8pm. What?. Honestly I could go on & on about the poor service despite the fact that they gave someone in our party a cheap bottle right before we left for our "inconvenience". Whatever. Caught up with some friends I haven't seen in a looooooong time! It was a Saturday evening and I was the first to arrive. The spot is near the Burger King my parents and I used to go to all the time when I was young. I walked up and saw that they had three barrel tables outside -- cool! The inside had a bar, a bunch of tables and booths, and the live music was a pleasant surprise! It was a hot day, but since it was the evening it was cooling down... I opted for us to sit outside at the one empty table. They offer quite the tasty looking menu of Italian food and cocktails! I wish I got to enjoy the food more -- I ate at my parents' before heading over :(. After the others arrived and we ordered, they brought out a basket of bread and olive oil that had garlic cloves in it. SIMPLY DELICIOUS! Crab bruschetta came out soon after, and I had to try one... flavorful, crispy, and also delicious. I enjoyed two cocktails: The Godfather (a recent fav of mine) and a Desert Pear Margarita. Are desert pears and prickly pears the same thing? I could look it up, but for now I will just assume they are haha. But also very tasty. It's a rare occasion that I get to actually have tiramisu at an Italian restaurant. Holy cow it was such a treat. I don't like coffee, but I can consume it in this form, no questions asked. The only thing that was disappointing was the chicken alfredo, as the chicken was tough and had that "fake grilled" taste. It seemed like frozen cooked chicken you can buy in bags at the store. I've been meaning to right this review for a while now. My favorite type of food is Italian, and dare I say, Nonna Angela's is now my favorite Italian food restaurant in the area. Ordering: Over the last 18 months, I have ordered take out from this restaurant several times -- even on my birthday two years in a row now. With a toddler, I much prefer take out instead of dining in. It's so easy to order the food online and by the time I get to the establishment, my food is ready for me! Food: My favorites off the appetizer list are the calamari and crispy brussel sprouts. My favorite entrees are the chicken parmagiana and the Salsiccia Rustica (it has sliced Italian sausage, grilled peppers and onions, sautéed in a marinara sauce, with penne pasta). Their food is consistently tasty. Ambience: I've dined in the restaurant (pre-COVID) several times as well. The atmosphere is inviting and versatile. I've been to Nonna Angela's twice now and the food was tasty and the service was great each time. The first time, I treated myself to a solo date. I was seated near the bar area and it felt like I had my own section. There was no one else in that section besides me and the bartender-he was great. I started off with a Limoncello Blush, which I enjoyed. On this particular visit, my eyes were bigger than my appetite. I ordered calamari, cream of crab soup, and a pasta dish whose name I cannot remember . I enjoyed everything and had leftovers for dinner that night. On my second visit, I brought more people with me--most of them children. Not only is this place great for a date night--solo or otherwise, but it's great for a family dinner as well. Everyone enjoyed their meals and even the pickiest of the bunch loved it. I will certainly return. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots. My vantage point was only the bar area, which was set up nicely. They have some tables outside, but its too close to foot and car traffic for me. I saw booths and tables in the main dining area which looked fine. I went for Happy Hour..the apps were half off. That was good. They had $8 crushes and $1 off beer, wine, and liquor. They could've done a little better than the $1 off. The bar tenders were pleasant and the food that I did order came in a very timely fashion. I was disappointed that I wasn't offered bread. I can't remember the last time I went to an Italian restaurant and wasn't offered bread. Maybe it was because I ordered appetizers...but it was odd to me. I ordered a mushroom appetizer special and fried rice balls filled with cheese, peas, and ground beef (Arancini). The food was decent, but lacked flavor. Perhaps it just needed salt, but I think it was more than that. Another table sent back their Zucchini Fritti (fried zucchini sticks) so it might not just be me. I'm not sure if I'll go back. Monster menu, to start can't settle on anything but looking forward to get in to it. First let's go into ambience in an unexpected little shopping center at routes 301 and 450. Inside surprisingly large but somewhat intimate. I was with a large group so service can't be really rated on this trip almost 40 folks so l will give them some slack. Sorry l need to take that back they only have 2 waiters for all of us. It took 30 min for my drink alone. They knew we were coming. I ordered the personal size Godfather pizza with the house dressing on of which l found to be very good! I Was licking my fork good! When the food finally came they had no bus boys to clear away the dirty dishes. The pie was just average so my advice would be to order something else. Would l come here again? Probably not, nothing was good enough to make me drive into the next county for it. If lived closer sure. Better Italian closer to me. read more
