This empanada place is average. Maybe below average in a way. The empanadas inside are so dry and tasteless. You add that with the dry flaky crust, is really hard to swallow. I wish I got the chimichurri sauce. Maybe that could have helped. The only redeeming quality about their empanada is that they aren't cheap when putting the fillings in. They really stuff alot of it inside. Too bad though. If only it tastes better. If you're looking to just fill your tummy. This place can get that done. Nonna's is the low-quality fast-food chain of empanadas. Went to the Americana location and got the nutella, spinach & cheese, and apple. The pastry was soggy. Nutella was not very complex and just tastes like nutella. The spinach & cheese tasted like rotten eggs. The apple taste like baby food. These are overpriced trash. $5.25 for one tiny low-quality empanada? Might as well walk over to Rincon or Porto's to get some legit empanadas. They're ~1/4th the cost and taste much better. $1.60 at Rincon, $1.29 at Porto's. Also, they charge a 3.5% service fee for using credit cards, none for cash... And 25 cents for the box that the empanadas comes in. Really trying to squeeze every dollar from you for their garbage empanadas. read more

We always get some of these amazing empanadas on our way out of Americana. Get the spicy chimichurri. My favorite ones so far are Carnitas and Cuban but they're all delicious honestly. The first few times they were given to me in a very nice box with amazing packaging. The last time I was there they were just tossed in a regular to-go box so I'm not sure if they're out of boxes or cheaping out now. But the presentation alone was worth the price tag in the beginning. Hope they get their packaging back. Is it the greatest empanada ever? no. Is it super cute, quick and delicious? Yes. I'm really disappointed by this place. The empanadas are really good. But today I went there and this guy took my order. He was really nice. I asked him for the chimichurri sauce and he gave it to me. Then I asked him for a box with a fork, which he gave to me as well. Then I said "may I also have some Tapatio sauce?" And this Armenian looking lady with brown hair and pony tail stuck her face through window and was like "anything else?" while handing me the sauces with attitude, as if I was inconveniencing her or something. I was wandering around, hoping to find a quick bite to eat. We found this place, and I was quickly served a chicken-mushroom- cheese empanada, samosa beef empanada, and a veggie empanada. The chicken mushroom cheese empanada was good; well seasoned and juicy. However, the samosa beef was literally an empanada stuffed with ground beef without ANY seasoning at all. The veggie empanada was similar. It had no seasoning whatsoever and tasted like a cheap, frozen bag of veggies was overcooked and stuffed in an empanada. Wtf! This place has got to be a joke! I drove 1 hour to get empanadas from a place I used to love. First time trying this place ... we tried beef, beef jalapeño, cheeseburger, Carnita, Philly cheesesteak and Nutella. They were all pretty good but the best was beef and cheeseburger and Nutella and my son liked the Philly cheesesteak. We'll be back to try more empanadas next time we are in Americana. I am an Empanada fan, so I had to try these as I walked pass the little shop. I ordered 4 empanada's in total. I got 1 Jalapeno Chicken; 1 Chicken Mushroom & Cheese; and 2 Corn. The price was $5.25 each as of May 29, 2021. Tax is already included, so I paid $21 even. Turns out they gave me the Chicken Alfredo instead of the Chicken Mushroom & Cheese. It was delicious anyway. I took one bite of each & I can safely say these are the worst empanadas I've ever had in my life.They look good, but definitely dont smell good & dont taste good. Stay away if you dont want a stomach ache later. The empanadas tasted like medicine/chemicals & honestly the beef looked red one bite into the samosa beef which means it was probably still raw & the carne asada had cold fake avocado in it so that gushes in your mouth on first bite (disgusting). I used to go to the Nonna's Empanadas in West Hollywood all the time, so I was thrilled when they opened up a location in Glendale. It is cattycorner to Frida's Mexican Cuisine, and all the empanadas are displayed in the window. They've expanded their choices; they now have chicken alfredo and Philly Cheesesteak in addition to the "regulars." We got an assortment so my son could try a variety: corn, tomato and mozzarella, ham and cheese, chicken alfredo, Philly Cheesesteak, and mac 'n cheese. All were delicious, especially with a side of chimichurri sauce. For dessert, we indulged in the Nutella empanada and alfajores (soft cookies with caramel sandwiched in the center dusted with coconut). The Nutella empanada was made with Nutella, oreo cookies, and cream cheese. It ended up being delicious, despite the mishmash of ingredients. read more

Came here for the first time today and was shocked they had vegan options! They have three vegan options and they were all great. The beyond meat one was my favorite with a close 2nd to the chicken salsa verde. The dipping sauce they gave us was also incredible. Plus the label on the empanada was a nice touch.
