This is the first time I've ever had Mochinut in my entire life! It was cold out. No lines or any crazy crowd outside. And I can honestly admit that I was a bit judgmental at first. What with the hype, pink boxes, donut shapes, and can-topped boba drinks... But yooo, that first bite? Omggg, that soft chewy texture! I don't know if I'll ever look at doughnuts the same. It's just too good!!! Like, what did I get myself into?! There's no doubt for any first timer what a hit this is!! Decided to finally try this place. If you like Krispy Crème like donuts, this is the place for you! The taste is very similar to krispy crème and more on the sweet side. I ordered 3 mochinuts and you could tell they were fresh. They were soft and have a chewy like mochi texture in the middle. The worker here was a sweetheart and was really kind. My family loves mochi donuts. We're big fans.... Mochinut in La Crescenta is served out of take-out window. We ordered 2 boxes ($30). Each box holds 6 mochi donuts ($16.50 if only buying 6). We also got some of their boba drinks. Of the mochi donuts we got. I liked the guava, churro and funnel cake topped donuts the best. We also got ube, matcha and Thai tea flavors... Visually, Mochinut's donuts look great. For example, the Thai Tea one is topped with a Biscoff cookie, the Guava one is topped with a gummy bear and the Matcha one is topped with a green tea wafer. This is all in addition to their corresponding glaze. I liked the guava one because the flavor was on point and it just made sense as a mochi donut. The glaze was sweet but not too sweet. It had a little bit of tang to it. It was an ideal flavor for me. The churro one was also very tasty. It wasnt heavy on the cinnamon flavor so it was exactly what I wanted. It was like a churro sugar raised donut. Good flavor. The funnel cake one had a generous dusting of powdered sugar and a drizzy of both strawberry and chocolate sauces. I liked it. My mother really liked the matcha. My dad liked the ube one which was topped with fruit flavored cereal. The thai tea one was a bit of a miss for us. The Biscoff cookie on top seemed a little out of place also. The boba drinks were good in flavor but the boba itself were undercooked. That was a bummer. I had the brown sugar one and it tasted great. Love the flavor and it wasnt overly sweet. But you just cant have undercooked, tough to chew boba. I guess I'm just a sucker for cute pink boxes and feeling like I'm cool. I'd driven by Mochinut many times and seen lines of folks waiting for their mochinuts, so I decided to give it a shot and got in line myself. While waiting to order, I looked up "mochinut" online and found out they're basically donuts made with rice flour. Originating in Hawaii, they're a combo of the "mochi" treats you might have tried at Trader Joe's and doughnuts. The minimum order is three mochinuts, served up in a cute pink box. You select your flavors from the day's list. I went with churro, ube and s'mores. Drinks are also offered, but no hot coffee (knock off one star right there.....donuts/mochinuts without coffee? That's like a hamburger without a bun.) I ordered Thai Milk with boba. The minute I took a sip of the Thai Milk, I knew I was in trouble. The flavor was simply off, like no Thai Milk I'd ever had before. Plus, it seemed like there was about 1/4 cup of sugar in that one drink. I couldn't finish it due to fear of a diabetic coma. Now to the mochinuts. The churro flavor was passable; it's hard to go wrong with cinnamon and sugar. The s'mores was next best, coated with a thick layer of chocolate frosting and a nice soft marshmallow. The ube mochinut was pretty much inedible; the frosting had a weird chemical taste and I felt like I was eating congealed paint. One bite and I was done. Now, to the price. $16 for the above order. That's just mochi-nuts. Stick with the mochis from TJ's and go to Foster's for your donut fix. Two stars because I feel bad for the franchise owners (otherwise it would be one star, tbh.) I had been to the Las Vegas location, so when I was driving around La Crescenta, I decided to turn the car around and come to this place. I liked that they made everything when ordered, so it was fresh. The mochi donuts taste the best when fresh! I tried the half cheese, half hot dog-covered with flaming hot Cheetos. They asked if I wanted sugar on top. At first that sounded odd, but I said, "why not" and I'm glad I did. It was good! Not as hot as eating the Cheetos by itself, but definitely has that kick. Solid 3.5 stars. I come from a family of donut lovers. I know places like this could never live up to Mister Donut (original mochi donut from Asia - Taiwan, Japan, etc) - BUT - I was pleasantly surprised. The texture of the donuts themselves were nice and springy and I did enjoy the flavors of some of them. I bought a box of 6: original, mango, black sesame, strawberry funnel, churro and s'mores. My favorites were strawberry funnel and mango. It would have been nice to have more dried strawberry pieces on the funnel donut because it gives it such a fun texture. Mango flavor on the mango donut was on point and I'm so glad I got this one because I was so sure going in that I wouldn't order this one! However, the others were lacking in flavor, texture and/or appearance. When I think of black sesame, I think of already ground up grey paste in the glaze with tiny black specks, which is a pretty standard in Asian desserts. This would have been more premium looking than what they currently offer. Unfortunately their version is with hand frosted white chocolate and sesames sprinkled on top like an everything bagel...it just seems lazy? Or uninventive? Don't get this one. The churro is too simple with just cinnamon sugar on top. There needs to be a crunch element to give it that churro like texture. Could be better. My s'mores donut's marshmallow was not toasted like in the display. The display also looked like it was burned wrong? They could have really amped up the appearance with a nice golden brown edged marshmallow instead of a plain white that I got. Overall, the base donut is wonderful but some of the flavor, texture and topping execution really miss the mark for me. I've only been to this location once. I've been to other Mochinuts in the past and have had lovely experiences. The service was great, but I think the donuts here that I got didn't maintain their springy freshness like other locations I've been too. Honestly.... It might have just been a fluke and it won't discourage me from coming back in the future if I want this type of donut. The donuts at Mochinut are pretttttty pricey but they're cute . There's free parking on the street. I believe there's also a lot behind but I haven't had need to use the back lot. I hear good things about be corn dog. If you've been to a mochinut location, you know what it is. If not... it's close to the Krispy Kreme texture - warm, fluffy, airy, not too dense. But also rich with flavor and they're all delicious. I can't recommend a flavor because they're all good - it just depends on what you're in the mood for. FYI - their flavors rotate, so they have 6 flavors of donuts each day and it alternates every day. So not everything you see on their website will be available every day. Their savory items are pretty great too (their hot dog / corn dog items). They coat the breading in some crunchy rice and it works. The reason for the 4 start is that it just takes way too long to get your order. If time is an issue and I want to pick up a dozen donuts on my way somewhere, I'd have to go to another donut shop. I love the fact that you get to drive up to this donut shop grab what you need and take off.... The donuts are super fresh when eaten right away . They have a light fluffy crispy texture. When I heard Mochinut was going to be built in La Crescenta, I was stoked that we wouldn't have to drive to Arcadia or Glassel Park to get our Mochinut fix. It's in a great location and street parking is pretty easy if you don't want to park in the lot behind them. After visiting a couple times, their hot dogs and donuts are deliciously made like the other locations, so no complaints there. However, the boba can definitely use some work. The brown sugar boba drink that I got looks nothing like the poster with the syrup dripping down the sides of the plastic can. There was basically boba, a teeny tiny bit of syrup and milk - which I could've done at home and saved myself 6 bucks. It basically tasted like.... milk, with a small hint of boba. First timer earlier today after school with my daughter, we had to find out what the craze was all about. We easily found a spot on the street out front. The guy that took our order was awesome and was happy to explain things to us. We got six mochinuts: two hazelnut, churro, mango, ube, and strawberry funnel cake. We loved the mochinuts. I had a hazelnut and an ube and they were both really airy and refreshing. My daughter enjoyed her hazelnut and my husband had the strawberry funnel cake. We have yet to try the churro and the mango but they look amazing and I'm sure they're just as good as the ones we've already tried. My daughter got an ube milk tea with boba and she wasn't a fan. We both enjoyed my peach iced tea with strawberry popping boba though. We did have some mixed reviews on the Korean hot dogs. We both got the potato half and half and I was asked if we wanted sugar on ours and I declined. I did not like the mozzarella part of the dog, but I enjoyed the hot dog portion but I wouldn't get the potato again. My daughter however liked all of her half and half potato except the potato part. Next time we are both going to try the original. Will we be back? Absolutely! And we can't wait to try something new. read more

They're super duper slow, will make you wait forever, and then send you off with incomplete orders that you don't bother checking because you've been waiting for 30 mins and have to get going in a rush. Imagine charging this much for some bullshit fried dough, and then instead of making people think "it's worth it though" by putting generous icing and toppings, you cheap out and put as little icing as possible, while still being able to call it a flavor. Second time here and the quality is going down fast and service is subpar. First of all, I went at a time when it was very slow and hardly any wait but it took them forever to make the order while I see multiple employees inside hanging out. Second, I hear them making and calling orders for people coming after me and my order was put in first?! Most important, after a long wait on a slow day with no wait, my corn dog dough was not cooked and they don't answer the phones so I had no way to address this issue. I drove by this shop and noticed the signage but didn't understand what mochinut meant or what was being sold. My wife and I were in the area decided to see what this business sells. There were several teenagers out front waiting for their orders. I checked Yelp and learned a little about a mochinut so I walked up and ordered a box of three. I knew of mochi from the ones filled with ice cream so having mochi in this form was interesting. I was pleasantly surprised by the mochinut. Chewy and flavorful..... I liked it. They are somewhat pricey but what good product isn't these days. I just might have to stop by and try their hotdog on a stick covered in fried mochi. My favorite was just the original donut, which is kind of reminiscent of Krispy Kreme (sorry, hate to compare apples to oranges), which is a good thing in my opinion because they're my favorite donuts. I have tried three other mochinut locations and the la crescenta location definitely does not disappoint. For people who don't know, mochi donuts are made of rice glutinous flour instead of plain white flour. The rice flour makes the texture incredibly fluffy, airy, and chewy in the best way possible. This location really lives up to the mochi donut hype! The flavors are good, textures are consistent, and I love how they rotate their flavors so I get to try something new every once in a while. I also love that they added hot dogs! The hot (corn) dogs are also coated in that same glutinous rice flour mixture, so don't expect to be eating your regular American style corn dogs! This one is much tastier, crunchier, and chewier!! Note: I noticed some of the reviews saying the hot dogs weren't fully cooked through/raw. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think because of the super chewy, sticky texture of the dough, it may look like it hasn't been fully cooked through, when it may be just good to eat. The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is that I wouldn't get their boba drinks. I just personally did not enjoy both the ube and regular milk tea drinks. As a Korean American, I grew up with snacks made with glutinous rice flour, like mochi ice cream. I highly recommend this place for people like me who love asian desserts, as well as for people who love donuts but want to experience something completely new and different. read more

Compared to a typical donut, a mochinut is a bit more springier, chewier, and feel a bit lighter and not as rich. Flavoring wise, they were decent, but I think they could've used more frosting and possibly had the flavor infused in the mochinut dough. Most of them were just the plain mochinut with different frostings on them. The flavors change weekly on Mondays, so there's always new flavors you could try. They also serve the typical Korean corn dogs, deep fried cheese sticks, and boba drinks...but I'd say the boba drinks are a bit mediocre and the boba pearls themselves were a bit rubbery. Plus the soda can top on the drinks can kink the boba straws and make it difficult to drink. Still, worth trying out at least once to curb your curiosity if you've never had a mochinut and don't mind the pricier cost. read more

Order the coffee with no boba(not a fan of boba) and omg I'm already ready too go back for more coffee. So good!! Next the donuts initially we order. A churro, Nutella and strawberry funnel. We also ordered a hot Cheeto corn dog. We got are coffee and the donuts which came in a pack of 3 for about 10 dollars we where still waiting on the corn dog so we decided too start on our donuts.
