My wife and I went with Granite Plus for a new kitchen counter top. After signing all their…read morepaperwork saying they are not responsible for any damages to your house and putting money down to get started, we even had to pay a charge for an oversized piece. I assumed they would send a larger crew to handle the larger piece. We started laying out the counter top. My wife spent several hours over multiple days working with multiple designers for the best pattern. On install day, 2 guys showed up and I asked if another crew member was coming to help with the oversized counter and they said no. Why was there an oversized charge when I needed to help the 2 workers lift the oversized counter? The layout that my wife approved with G.P. was not what we got. The pattern/seam does not line up to the drawing they provided. I understand that the fabricator has the final say, but it was not even close to lining up and not brought to our attention that it would not line up. Looks bad. One piece, 25"x22", also was cut crooked by about 1/4" so now next to the stove, it is tight toward the front of the stove, and there is a 1/4" gap at the back of stove. Other pieces are not cut square, but not 1/4" off. On another piece, they scraped and gouged the walls, which needed patching and repainting. Maybe a larger crew (that I paid the oversized fee for) may have prevented this. I am giving two stars because of patterns that don't line up, for not being able to cut a small piece square, and for having to patch and paint walls.

I brought in a picture of my kitchen/color scheme and she picked out the perfect granite top to go with our kitchen. All work was completed in a timely fashion. Dominque was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend this business.

We purchased quartz countertops from IKEA and they contract with McDermott as the fabricators and…read moreinstallers. This review is based on my interactions with McDermott only. Once our order was placed through IKEA, McDermott called a day or so later to setup the laser measure appointment. I missed the first call and got a voicemail. I promptly called back but I didn't hear the caller leave a name. So after calling several times I was finally able to connect with a project manager to schedule the time. They are very thorough explaining everything and provide a follow-up email to cover the details of the call. Two days prior to the measure they send a reminder email with all the details and 30 minutes prior to their arrival day of they call you. The person arrived and the measurements went as noted in the call/email. It didn't take very long and I was asked questions pertaining to the tops, plumbing, cabinets, etc. A template is created with all the information pertaining to the job. After the measurements and template are signed off on, it goes back to IKEA to adjust any pricing based on the accurate measurements. This part of the process was slightly frustrating but that would be in a separate review of IKEA. McDermott called again to schedule the installation of the countertops. Communication was a little easier this time with the name of the scheduler and a prompt same day return phone call. I was surprised how quickly they were able to come install the tops. Same mentioned previously they followed up with an email and information on what to expect for installation. Before the installation date I did have to call to confirm if we were responsible to level the cabinets once our old countertop was removed. We did the demo ourselves and they did inform me we were responsible for leveling. If they did it the project manager explained it could be expensive. Luckily we were able to handle that. The day of installation I received a call 15 minutes prior to their arrival. Upon the installers arrival they managed to back down our driveway and run into a tree, breaking a branch...not a great start. But the two guys came in and started on the work right away. They explained the process and took care of a couple things on the cabinet tops so the installation would go more smoothly. After everything was finished and sealed they went over care and maintenance of our tops. The whole process took about an hour and a half. Overall we are very pleased with the countertops! The timeframe from purchase to installation was relatively quick, a total of 7 weeks. Communication could have been slightly better in beginning and I wish the installers didn't break our tree but we got our new tops.

We had Terry remodel our 1940s bathroom - electrical, plumbing, tile, tub, painting, toilet, sink,…read morelighting, cabinet, exhaust fan, grab bars, counter, plaster repair - the works! It's now been about 4 months since he finished the work and each day I look at our new bathroom and think "wow!' He did a great job! He was patient and always responsive to any questions or issues, and cleaned up each day. Great workmanship too. He started out by measuring and answering any questions we had, offering ideas here and there but letting us make our own decisions. Unlike some other contractors, he did not give fancy 3D architectural renderings, nor did he accompany us to each supplier to pick out products. Here's what his process was, which was perfect for us. We received a proposal contract which listed each item or task, along with a cost allowance for each item. If we chose something more expensive than its allowance, the final price would reflect the increase. If what we chose cost less than the allowance, the final cost would go down by that much. So we had a bottom line price from the start and would have the final decision on expenses. He then also gave us a list of his suggested suppliers from which to pick out all of the products. We worked with those suppliers to make selections at their respective showrooms (they work with TLC regularly), and they forwarded our selections to Terry. A few selections we made were from suppliers not on his list, which was fine, but the places he suggested were where most of the items came from. When all selections were made, he provided us with a revised proposal contract reflecting our selections and revised costs. Then he - not us - did the ordering from each vendor to insure that all of the parts and pieces fit together and would work, plus that way his contractor discount was applied. His final contract to us was transparent and showed all prices. No additional markups, no change order fees, no nonsense. If someone wants computer-generated architectural renderings, having him present at each supplier meeting, one central showroom where every needed product and samples are all in one place, then this type of contractor isn't likely for you. If however, you want a remodeling contractor that not only provides the quote but also does the actual work himself, with reliable suppliers that work with him, with a fair price and a minimal amount of stress (if that's possible lol), then TLC's a good choice. Would we recommend TLC Contracting? If you haven't it already guessed: the answer is absolutely!
